MDD freezing problem can anyone help?

Ive been having quite majer problems with my mac. It crashes regularly and im not sure why. It will freeze any time even when running safari and has been known to do it 5 times in one day!!! These are the possable problems i can think of.
1. Hardware problem though i have tested all my ram with memtest and the apple hardware test Cd and it says its fine.
2. i was thinking my mac could be overheating, can this cause it to crash? At the moment its is running at 58.3 *C and all im running is safari, im not even running any widgets. The CPU fan is almost always on (though not at full speed) even when running just safari and i think the barings in the fan could be on their way out because it doesnt sound like the fan is running smoothly at all.
Would it be worth buying a new fan and getting a copper heatsink to bring the temperature down? Im not sure if i should do this in case it doesnt work as it well set me back over £100, if there is no way of finding and fixing the problem i was thinking of getting a macpro though as im a student it will take me about a year to get my hands on that kind of cash

1.5GB RAM
OSX 10.4.8 (im running this beacuse 10.4.9 is incompatable with final cut HD 3.0)
GForce 4MX
1X 80GB PATA
1X 200GB PATA
ASUS DVD R (put in a week ago though there were problems with crashing before this)
Can anyone give me some advice on what to do?

Assuming you are reading that CPU temperature with Temperature Monitor software, the specified upper limit for your CPU is 62 degrees C. Therefore, 58.3 degrees shouldn't be causing your freeze problems. Look for other possibilities.
Not that this is your problem, but a friend's upgraded Sawtooth G4 started having freeze problems in Tiger after running several months without any problems. Turns out he had his old DVD-ROM in a Firewire box connected via Firewire to his G4 and the unit started crapping out. Still not sure if the core problem is the DVD-ROM drive or the Firewire case or the Firewire connection, but disconnecting the unit ended his suddenly arising freeze problems.
Try using your MDD G4 with all Firewire and USB (except the keyboard and mouse of course) stuff disconnected from the tower case. If that ends your freezes, it will be a simple process of elimination to find the offending USB or Firewire item.

Frequently these days, my machine will freeze---
---the mouse and cursor won't work.
---the keyboard won't respond.
However, during these freezes, iTunes will still play, and my screensaver/wallpaper will eventually kick in, so at least some part of the computer works.
When I hit the restart switch, the machine will go all the way through startup, to the login screen, but most of the time, the mouse/cursor will still be frozen, and I will not be able to login using the keyboard.
Usually I will have to hit the switch again, and the same thing will happen. Frozen cursor, nonresponsive keyboard at login screen.
The only time I seem to get a full restart, with everything working, is when I hit the switch a third time, or else leave the machine shut down for a few minutes and then restart. I have no idea why this is the case
My HD has about 2 GB of space available out of the 38 or so, and I have not received any disk space warnings, so I don't think that's the cause.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Since everything else appears to function normally during these "freezes" I'm led to believe that the problem is related to either your USB ports, or your USB keyboard/mouse. The first thing you can try is connecting the devices to different USB ports. Secondly, are you using the included Apple keyboard and mouse, or third party devices? If you're using third party devices, I'd suggest turning the computer off, and connecting your Apple devices, then continuing to use the computer as normal. If the mouse/keyboard continue to freeze, it sounds as though the USB ports may not be working correctly. But, let us know what happens after trying these suggestions.

deggie gave you that link so you'd know that airprint is a reduced-options print system, designed for mobile devices (not Macs), and you need to use the specific airprint driver on the Mac when adding the printer if you want Airprint, no-options printing. Otherwise, select the "non-airprint" driver when you add the printer.
It may be helpful to Reset the Printing System to get OS X to find the right driver.

(And "not working" doesn't help us to help you - please give more detail next time)

I cannot activate icloud foto. When I click on icloud the window comes up but in seconds the possibility to click to activate foto freezes. Can anyone help. I have spent so many hours trying to solve the problem.

You have a Combination BluRay and Surround System that includes WIRELESS Rear Speakers:

This could account for why the BluRay is generating interference with your wireless network signal.
You can go thru the process of changing the wireless channels and other changes to the Verizon Actiontec Router or hook up your old router which was working before you switched to FIOS.
FIOS has a Superior Product over any cable system and I would hate to see you leave over something that was out of their control.
By the way, looking at the picture of the rear connections for your Panasonic you would want to have an Optical Toslink cable go from the back of the Verizon HD Set Top Box (Optical Out) to the Optical In jack on the back of the Panasonic. This connection will provide you with Dolby Digital sound (If Broadcast by Channel) while you are watching TV. You may need to switch inputs on the Panasonic Remote to get this to work. You may also have an Optical Out jack on the TV that could be connect as well if you are using an HDMI Cable.
Your Verizon STB would be connected to the TV by either HDMI, Component, Composet, or Coax (Highest Quality to Lowest Quality). The HDMI would also provide sound to your TV so that it's internal speakers would work if desired.

Batch processing problems-can anyone help?

Setup: Quadcore, 4GB RAM, 4 internal drives all with plenty of space, Leopard OS, latest version.
Software: CS4 with Photoshop Extended; all updates installed. I also have CS3 installed; only use Bridge and PS in both apps.
Problem: Working in CS4. All edits/crops/corrections done in the Camera Raw window; all edits saved and viewable in Bridge. However, when I use Batch from the Tools dropdown (Tools > Photoshop > Batch), and check all the usual places, select an Action, select a Destination, and hit "Go", the results are totally weird. Some images process as expected, but many are at least two stops overexposed.
All individual files will Open, and can be Saved As manually; all works fine. That is in fact how my assistant and I got the job done tonight. The Batch Action is simplicity itself: Open, Save As (JPEG level 9), and Close file—but if I run Batch on the same files that can be opened and Saved As perfectly, it all goes crazy; three quarters of the files are totally overexposed, in blocks (10–25, roughly), and at random.
I have used the Ctrl + Alt + Shift after opening Bridge; I have run Cocktail; and lit the right incense. But this still will not work properly! Can anyone help???

Batching the same files in CS3 works perfectly, in terms of the processed JPEGs at least being correctly exposed, but the CS4-only edits (like the healing brush) are not recognised, nor are many, tho' not all, of the crops.
I have decided to deactivate and uninstall, then reinstall CS4, after upgrading to Snow Leopard. Usually, I wait for a few months for others to report on OS update interactions with CS and FCP, but since CS4 as installed was useless and I had done the usual resets of Preferences without any change to Batch Processing's reliability, I felt I could not be worse off.
So, after upgrading to Snow Leopard, I will reinstall CS4 (and all apps this time, rather than just PS and Bridge, as I usually do) in case there are soime weird unintended consequences of a Custom install.
Very frustrating and time-consuming, and I wonder what I might have done to create this problem—seeing as no one commented, I can only assume that this is an unique experience.
I will report back today, hopefully.

Saving Problem, can anyone help me?

I am having a severe problem with saving my GUI.
Due to the fact i have internal frames, i am using JDesktopPane, and i am trying to save the whole desktop, so that when i load it, i can add this desktop to the GUI again.
I do this action from the menu "save" and "open" option, but when i do it, there are a lot of exceptions, and does not work.
Am i doing this the right way? If not can anyone help me?

There are a lot of issues with saving off Swing stuff. Note all of the notes about swing serialization only be suitable for short term uses. Its hard to tell from your post, but it sounds like you might be trying to serialize it. The thing to do is to mark all of your swing stuff as tranient, and/or make it externalizable. Then, you save any important data and reset it when you readExternal (things like window position and so on) its a pain , but it should work and you will have more assurance that things saved will work in later releases. You can try different vairations of this, but I suspect the major errors have to do with you trying to save off iomages and so on. Really better to rebuild this stuff then try to unserailize it. More effecient too!

A couple of months ago I was downloading the OS update and my computer was turned off (at the plug) by mistake. Since then I can't load up properly in my own user (although other users can access theirs OK).
All I get is that the wallpaper loads on the desktop and I get a spotlight icon in the top right of the screen and the cursor wheel just spins - and that's it.
I can't use it or access my files. Can anyone help by telling me how I can:
a, fix the problem of loading up or
b, access my files from another user when they don't have priveleges.
Any help is appreciated as I have some important files I need to get hold of and can't.

Login as a different user, then find the folder on the hard drive where your files are, select this folder in the Finder window and "Get Info" on it from the "File" menu. In the Get Info window go down where it says "Ownership & Permissions" and select the "Details". Change the owner of that folder to the name of the user that you are logged in as. You may need to enter the administrator password to authenticate, this will give you full control (read/write) access to the files inside the folder as admin. Repeat these steps for each folder that has items you want to retrieve. After you retrieve the files you want, you should just do a re-install of the Operating system from the install disk. The system is most likely corrupt and beyond repair since the update was halted by a power failure.

Big Problem- can anyone help me?

Today, my iBook started to act goofy. It would work about 5-10 minutes, then it would freeze up. I would restart it by using ctrlcmdpower. I would log in, and about 10 minutes later, the computer would freeze up again. I regularly ran disk utility. I tried reinstalling the operating system. That worked for a while until the computer froze. I ran hardware test, and my computer passed the test. Can anyone help me fix my computer? Thank you!

I can not start my computer from the install disc that came with my computer as well as the Tiger install disc. The computer starts up normal, and then goes to a blue screen. Is it worth my investment to fix the iBook, or invest in a new MacBook?

Jukebox Zen Xtra problems - can anyone help

I have a 30G Xtra Jukebox. Of the original memory I have about 7.5 G free. Problem is I cannot seem to use it. Everytime I transfer from media source the track number goes up but the memory counter stays the same. When I unplug the track are simply not there.
I have reformatted and reloaded, all fine until I want to add extra then the same problem. I have updated the firmware, cleaned the disk. All to no avail. Is there a maximum number of tracks that I can have, I thought that as long as I have memory I can keep recording?

The limit is around 6,000 tracks, but varies with the amount of tag data. Lots of tag data and it will be less.

Ive recently brought an 8900 from ebay, im with orange in the uk and have the blackberry addon data usage thingy. I've been usign it for a while now, and the connections seems really really slow. So kinda guessed, well GPRS sucks. But I've recently went into the browser settings, and switched from the default Internet to Orange World (wap) and this is like a zillion times faster. On the default it can take up to 2-3minutes for the browser to get off requesting and start loading the page, even on just google, yet on the orange world zip it loads in seconds. Whats the difference here? All my apps run slowly, presuming with the default settings, is there anyway to get these speeds up to that of the wap setting?
Can't understand why the default internet settings suck so badly. Have just updated all my software, done a reboot from scratch, redownloaded my service books and nothing its still the same. Can anyone help?

Have you tried restart your computer and unplug your iPhone from the cable? I sometimes have this problems and I was told to unplug and re-plug the iPhone.

Printing problems, can anyone help? i feel so lost

I upgraded to tiger then the automatic software update took it up to 10.4.3
everything seemed fine til i tried to print on my trusty canon s330 printer...i just couldnt locate a driver for it
so i clicked on any of the ones in the pop up in printer set up browser menu and it did actually print
but only very faintly
so i clicked on another and it printed full colour but only at A5 (and yes i changed all the page sizes everywhere i can think of)
no luck...
so i have spent the last two days trying to print and have downloaded latest drivers and searched and searched on forums like this and tried various things and still no luck
i urgently needed to print some work and was desperate so went out and bought another canon thinking its about time i had a new one and i really love canon printers
got it out the box, downloaded the software and guess what??? the same thing is happening
it will print either faintly in b&w despite what is on screen
and only in a5 despite selecting a4
i could cry i really could
i can get my printer to show in the printer browser box throught the set up utility but it doesnt show my model to select a driver and you have to click on one of them...
i click on more printers and i get a spinning wheel and then nothing
am i doing something inherently and obviously wrong?
i tried reinstalling the tiger upgrade and just upgrading the canon printers through custom install but no joy
my mac has been on and restarted more times than i can bear
i rang canon and they said 'open the print center' in utilities but there isnt one???
i ended up stopping the call because i was not getting anywhere
i have been using macs for over 8 years, I can usually sort everything

hmmm, i didnt have to install a driver, it seems, after 3 days of hair pulling and teeth gnashing I realised that the tiger would recognise the printer without me doing anything
but it took me a long time to get there
i couldn't see the wood for the trees
i just thought i would update my posting incase anyone else is suffering
i feel a bit stupid actually, especially after I lost my rag at the Canon helpline...
