• [Zen Micro] Road map for firmware 1.x / end of life

Hi all,
does anyone (hint, hint, moderators) know what's the supposed road map for the Micro firmwares. Ok, I know that Creative doesn't comment on the functionalities and releases .
But my essential question is this:
<FONT color=#cc0000>Is the firmware .x (driver-based, with MediaSource support) end of life, or will it continue to be developed? Will all new, generic features of the 2.x (PlayForSure...) line also be integrated in a continuing .x line of firmware? Or not?
I found out in <A target=_blank href="http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=9892">this thread about firmware 2.x that the new 2.x beta firmware has new features, not being promoted on the download site (or forum). For the moment, I prefer MediaSource over WMP to manage my collection, and for that reason I want to stick with .x firmware.
<A target=_blank href="http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=9892">I really expect a customer-oriented company (and I recently filled in a Creative survey on quality of support services after getting an invitation email, so they do suggest they care) to share a roadmap - even for just some months - with their users.
Thanks.

Creative very rarely share this kind of information, so I think it unlikely they will.

• Suggestion for future release

Where should I post suggestions for future releases of SQL Developer or/and Data Modeler?
Please give me a link.
Thanx,
Chris
One suggestion for Data Modeler:
In the "Model Properties" of a relational model, there should be a "scripts" folder like in the "Table Properties".
In this script I'd like to generate some global statements for the DDL generation,
for example:
before (=begin of generated script): set define off; alter session set nls_numeric_characters='.,'; nls-config
after (=end of generated script): commit; (when table inserts are used and no ddl-statement is following; otherwise you have to use 'commit' in each table-script; After the last table create (ddl-) statement there is no implicit 'commit')
I know, that I can edit the generated script to add my statements, but if you often generate code there is a good change to forget to change the script afterwards.

• Road map for HRMS consultant for new oracle guy, please help

road map for Oracle HRMS consultant for new oracle guy, please help

Hi,
If you go through the Oracle sites you will come to know that HRMS Suite has various modules like Core HR, SSHR, Performance Management, Learning Management, iRecruitment, Compensation workbench, Absence Management, Payroll, Advanced Benefits etc.
You will have to start with understanding the Core HR concepts which is the base of the entire HRMS suite where you define the core structures like Organizations, Job, Position, Grade, Costing, Hierarchies, Employee data etc and which forms the base of the other modules.
Post you are done with Core HR you can start understanding the Self Service functionality and Approval Management Engine.
If you are clear with these two modules, then you can pick any other module as per your Job requirement demands.
You can do this all if you have an instance to access where you can do hands-on. In absence of which learning will be not be easy. On apps2fusion site which I have already mentioned you can view the training calendar and check for any relevant courses if you want to under go training as the quality of training is very good.
Training is not a mandate and you can learn it without training also if you have the dedication and time by understand each and every action which you are performing in application and the impact of it.
Hope it helps.
Thanks,
Sanjay

Can anybody give some idea/link about SAP PI roadmap for next 2-3 years.
Regards,

HI,
As you might be knowing current SAP PI release is of PI 7.1.
now as per my understanding there will be SAP Enhancement Packages in future instead of new releases.
SAP had introduced the enhancment package strategy.

• Road map for Oracle application server

I assume Oracle will at some point merge both it's Application Server, and the acquired BEA WebLogic Server with WebLogic being the main code source. Does anyone know of such a roadmap or direction of statement that I can review (diagram or wording)?
Thanks.

Oracle after a whole bunch of acquisitions and more recently after the BEA acquisition, is now on somewhat synthesis mode for the range of products they now have. Generally they call for three tracks for products;
- strategic products:
the ones that Oracle envisions to keep and promote for long-term future needs; this period is greater than 9 years;
- continue and converge track products:
which includes those which will be continued for next 9 years (from this past summer) or so. newer versions of these products will be released and new features will be enhanced, products will be supported for next 9 yrs; but beyond 9years, the products will effectively be merged into one strategic offering.
- those which are to be discontinued/replaced by some other products;
so for example, for web 2.0 or enterprise suites/user interaction, Oracle defines WebCenter as its strategic product, instead of Oracle Portal which is on a continue and converge track now. or for application server, WebLogic Server is the strategic product. etc. whereas OAS is on continue and converge track.
about each product type/technology, Oracle has new SODs (statement of direction) which defines the products and expected support offerings. please see this link.

• Wish List for Future Releases of FME

First, I want to sincerely thank the Adobe team responsible
for FME. Great job! Great application!
We use FMS for 24/7 live cams and live TV streams. We have
some suggestions for what might help FME be a more flexible tool
for us and others in our situation.
- option to automatically connect and start broadcasting upon
application startup
- option to automatically load a saved profile upon
application startup
- reconnect feature should keep trying to reconnect/broadcast
every 60 seconds or so instead of trying only once
(When stream is improperly disconnected... temporary loss of
internet, for example... and the encoder tries to reconnect and
publish, you get a bad name - already in use - if the instance
hasn't cleared yet. Then a window pops up and the encoder quits
trying to publish. This modification would be extremely helpful to
those who cannot monitor the encoder every second... or in a 24/7
live cam setup)
- option to hide rtmp string from prying eyes
- password protect access to settings (to prevent someone
from changing them without authorization)
- make FME recognize a firewire connection as an audio source
in addition to video source (when using a camcorder, for example)
Thanks again and looking forward to reading others' ideas and
suggestions as well.

You might accedently move the player and change the volume while you are walking or doing stuff of undisputed interist. The next firmware should include a special code which u must tap in order (like the buttons-tap then in a specific order). If you get it wrong the player freezes and formats the hardri've so that any data on it cannot be stolen. This should be great to prevent theifs. This is what Windows Xp's sp3 will do...i bet u million dollars.

• How to set the color for road map steps

hi all,
my requirement is like ,whenever i select my step in a roadmap it has to be set in yellow color and others has to be in default color.
thanks,
Siva.

Hi......
Its Very Simple......
Create an action for the road map.
for example..... if you have three step in it....
by default the first step will be in active only...
ie., Yellow colour
if you click the second step and it should be active means.... if you have to create a event....in the property of the Roadmap
Create the on action select event....
in that event.....
try to use this code.... based on your scenario.....
set context data
DATA: road_node TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node,
              road_data TYPE if_componentcontroller=>element_roadmap.
        road_node = wd_context->get_child_node( 'ROADMAP' ).
        road_data-step = step.
        IF step = 'CHOOSE'.
          road_data-prev_enabled = abap_false.
        ELSE.
          road_data-prev_enabled = abap_true.
        ENDIF.
        IF step = 'END'.
          road_data-next_enabled = abap_false.
        ELSE.
          road_data-next_enabled = abap_true.
        ENDIF.
        road_node->set_static_attributes( road_data ).
navigation
        wd_this->fire_navigate_evt( step ).
Hope this will help you
Thanks & reagrds

• Sql Anywhere product road map

Hello, all
Our company is about to start a new large project soon.
Several DB providers are being evaluated, among them SAP SQL Anywhere.
Since this is going to be a product line for the next 15-20 years, we need to know if SAP has road map for SQL Anywhere.
The vagueness of SQL anywhere  future is currently the biggest drawback for us, since technically it is an excellent solution.
If anyone can point me to the product road map, it would very helpful.
Thank you
Arcady

Hi Arcady,
As far as I know, SQL Anywhere is alive and well.  In addition to being offered as an product for sale to end users and OEMs, it is part of, or included with, many other SAP solutions.  For example, SQL Anywhere is included as part of Business Objects and the SAP Mobile Platform, and SQL Anywhere data synchronization (MobiLink) is currently in beta as a new offering for the Hana Cloud Platform.
There is a recent product roadmap for SQL Anywhere posted on SAP Service Marketplace, which you should be able to access if you have an account.
Development is continuing on SQL Anywhere and a new release is planned for this year (I don't believe a firm date has been announced yet).
Hopefully this information helps to address your concerns.  If not, please feel free to contact me directly if you have any further questions about the future of SQL Anywhere (firstname dot lastname at sap dot com).

• WebLogic Server 11gR2 etc. road map?

Hi all,
I've been searching oracle.com looking for a document that might lay out a road map for new major releases of WebLogic Server (11gR2 etc.), and not finding anything helpful. Mainly I'm interested in when Oracle might release a version that is certified on RHEL 6, though it would also be nice to know when they might release a version that fully supports Java EE 6 (there is another older thread about that also). My impression is that changes like this would probably be a new major version (11gR2 a.k.a 10.4?) vs. a new patchset version (11gR1 10.3.5).
Does anybody know whether this info is publicly available? I can also try our company's paid support, but first wanted to see if there is something public.
Thanks,
Jim

Hi ,
Do you have any plan to add this feature (Assign tasks) in EWS? If yes, then any road map for it or the target future version. Thanks

• PBF Road Map

Hi ,
Do we have a road map for PBF ?  What is ts future  in context of other planning tools line BPC, IP..
Thanks
Pratyush

Pratyush,
BPC, IP, etc. are generic tools which require definition of content for budgeting. For example they need definition of characteristics and key figures to be used in planning, reporting etc. The layouts for data entry and reporting have to be defined. Authorizations must also be defined. By contrast PBF is a content-rich budgeting application which includes 40+ forms with defined data entry screens for pre-defined decision packages.
The roadmap as I understand it is to allow the customer to decide which of these tools best meets the requirements. Customers with a requirement for quantitative planning such as commercial customers may find BPC and IP useful. For government and other customers with highly defined statutary budget request, approval and publishing processes, PBF will continue to be more desirable.
As far as I know none of these tools is to be discontinued.
Thanks
Shyam
