MDG- S v/s MDM-BuPa

Hi,
SAP is coming up with MDG-S/F/M for Governance.
Now, We have pre-delivered content for Supplier in Netweaver MDM and MDG-S.
I wanted to know what is the difference between these two contents.

Hi Sudha,
first you should rephrase the topic. There's a huge difference in between the NW MDM Supplier and the NW MDM BuPa.
NW MDM Supplier uses the ERP Vendor tables only. MDG-S uses the BP Tables AND the Vendor tables. Thus MDG-S is able to connect the Supplier to all SAP Systems (ERP, SRM) which you cannot do with NW MDM.
Best regards
Michael

  • MDM Business Partner 5.5 Not Creating Customer Master in SAP ECC

    Hi,
I am importing Business Partner into ECC from MDM using XI with BP Business Content. This is done using proxy.
The business partner is created sucessfully but the customer master table KNA1, KNB1 is not being populated.
Does anyone experienced this before? Or has a solution for this?

I am not creating customer in ECC. I am creating Business Partner,  this is because we are using IS-U which uses the BP instead of the Customer Master.
So we are using the MDM BuPa to ABAP BuPa mapping.
The thing about this is, when we run the transaction BP to create Business Partner, it automatically creates a mirror KNA1 record to match the business partner. But through MDM-XI proxy, it is not creating the record.

  • What is MDG

    Hi Experts ,
    What is basically MDG ?
S\hall anybody explain the difference between Master Data Governance and Master Data Management in general and with respect to SAP MDM and SAP MDG ?
Your inputs are highly appreciable .
    Regards,

    Hi Raghvendra,
    SAP NetWeaver MDM :
MDM provides a trusted, consistent view of key information assets across the enterprise – ranging from "customers", "products", and "suppliers" to "locations" and more. In large corporations, MDM is becoming a business transformation strategy as the cornerstone of every critical business process and business decision.
    SAP Master Data Governance(MDG):
SAP Master Data Governance (SAP MDG) is arguably the first-to-market integrated and active data governance application
-- via its governance capabilities for creation, maintenance and replication of master data "upfront" (upstream) of line-of-business applications. Specifically, SAP MDG provides out-of-the-box, domain-specific master data governance to centrally create, change and distribute master data across your entire landscape -- with a focus on the SAP Business Suite. In other words, SAP MDG is an MDM application purpose-built and natively integrated with key SAP solutions, while SAP NetWeaver MDM is an infrastructure variation that requires additional customization to enable such central governance.

  • XI - Receiver Determination Condition not working

I created a Condition on my Receiver Determination to stop some messages from being sent based on a field in our message.
It works when using some test tools (workbench, SOAPUI, etc) but not when coming from our MDM system.  The beginning of the input message looks like what is listed at the bottom of this message(and it works).
But when coming from MDM the one node looks like this  - there is no colon ( after the xmlns.
                   <YMDMB_CREMDM xmlns='http://intel.com/MDM/BUPA/Vendor'
without the colon ( the condition does not work;  with the colon it does work.
the sending system is not able to add the colon.
Does anyone know why the colon matters and what we can do to get around it in XI ??

below is the beginning of the XSD from the IDOC (it is custom but based on a SAP one  - just added a few fields)
I also put the start of the input message below that.

  • MDM to MDG - Configuration Migration

    Hi,
If an enterprise was using SAP MDM and it has there configurations, workflows, data models, forms, ... etc and it is planning to implement MDG 7.0 soon. How can it benefit from the earlier implementation of MDM ? Technically, what parts, objects can be migrated from MDM to MDG ?
    Appreciate any insight or guidance.

The main thing you will benefit from is the documentation. Other than that, you will need to implement everything from scratch as MDM and MDG use two different technologies.

  • SAP Solman, MDM , MDG Certifications from Functional Perspective

    Hello Experts,
Being from a functional background, would like to know, the certification of which part of these topics (Specifics) would help in enrichment of the profile of a functional consultant:
Note : Please specify the specific topic numbers, if any...
    1)Solution Manager
    2)Master Data Management (MDM)
    3)Master Data Governance (MDG)
    4)Cloud
    5)HANA
6)Any others, please add if new generation technologies are missed out
Your guidance will be highly appreciated.

    Hi Amrita,
As of now there is no certification in associate level. It is available in professional level only.
    1) You should have 5 yrs of experience in your module which you r looking for.(Professional level).
2)You can apply for any version irrespective if you hv worked in same version at least 1 project.
    3) I think in India Bangalore location is available.
4)You can go through Teched from ur company side but only for professional certification but for the associate level you go individually.
5)Teched will be benefited in monetary prospect.
    6) Total 80 questions will be there and I think duration is 1 hr and all are multiple type question and there is no negative marking.
    Cheers

  • MDM Vs MDG

    Hi all,
    Could anyone pls explain
compare MDM Vs MDG(Master data governance)
    what is MDG
Any links to get more info on MDG, any docs?
    Rgds,
    Venu.

SAP MDM (Master Data Management) and SAP MDG (Master Data Governance)
In most businesses benefits can be acquired in the area of master data. An efficient master data maintenance, which is implemented across systems and applications, avoids conflicts and reduces costs.
For an area-wide generation of consistent master data, which is comprehensive and valid along the supply chains, SAP provides the Master Data Management (MDM) and Master Data Governance (MDG) tools.
Initially the approach of Master Data Management (MDM) and Master Data Governance (MDG) is similar.
The master data of individual systems are consolidated with the SAP Business Objects Data Services and a keymapping is established. In the latter the master data and the respective source system are listed in a table. Same master data from different systems is provided with a global ID in order to combine them.
The difference between Master Data Management (MDM) and Master Data Governance (MDG) lies in the distribution of data.
Master Data Management (MDM): In the MDM solution the master data is directly distributed to the ERP systems via the Process Integration (PI). Master data changes are purely undertaken from the MDM and updated in the ERP system from there.
Master Data Governance (MDG): In the MDG data circulates in a circuit. The data comes from the ERP system and is adjusted and consolidated with the MDG. The addition and change of data takes place purely here and is still distributed via the Process Integration (PI).
Which of those solutions is better suited for individual business applications depends on technical and process oriented criteria.
MDM uses own flexible data models and is basically usable for all master data objects, whether or not they are coming from SAP system environments.
MDG allows a centralized master data management within the SAP Business Suite and uses ERP data models (prerequisite is the application of ERP 6.0 and the enhancement package 5). Those master data management tools are preferable when SAP uses ERP as master data server and proprietary development is integrated

  • Questions on MDG

My question is on MDG -
Is the standard data model for GL account, profit center already configured in the package? As in SAP MDM there are standard data models (sca files) which we can import, is it something similar in there?
Second question is - When the vendor gets accessed through portal in MDG, can a user enter in ECC and access the same vendor? I mean does it get locked for other users to access the same vendor in ECC?
    Thanks,
    Indraveer

    Hi folks
    I have following queriers:
    1. When MDM is in Scope, How feasible is to opt MDG also.I mean what points we can raise so as to convience the client that we wud also need MDG.
2.How is MDG different in Standalone or with ECC Suite.
    3. If both are in scope How is the integration between MDM and MDG happens.

  • Extraction of Business Partner data from CRM to MDM

Does MDM provide standard extractors that can be installed in CRM so that BP data can be extracted and sent to XI via IDOC.
If it does where can I find this information ?

have a look at the MDM IT scenario Configuration Guide: https://websmp110.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700004656452006E
This document describes how you setup bupa data extraction from CRM to MDM, which is actually done via Proxies and not via IDocs.

  • MDM attributes not showing in UWL

    Hello Experts,
I am using MDM5.5 SP06. I want to integrate MDM Workflow with UWL in portal. For that I followed this link

I did all steps in the document. Still I am able to see the MDM tasks in UWL. And also, MDM attributes like mdmStatus, stepId, stepName, jobId, userNames, workflowTable are not available in Personalization.
To get MDM attributes and MDM tasks what are the steps I need to Do?.
PS: I am able to see the task in MDM Workflow.

  • Scenario between MDM & PLM

    Hi all
Can anybody help to get some information about scenarios between SAP MDM/MDG and SAP PLM.
Does exist some SAP official documentation that show this scenario?
    Thnks!
    Jose Luis.

    Hello Jose Luis.
SAP MDM doesn't have standard scenario from MDM-PLM integration.
I think, because it depend by production fokus area of enterprise.
We have created PLM solutions to Whirlpool Eur.:
Custom repository in MDM because for PLM need many properties which not use in ERP.
GUI  - Rich client and more powerfull WebDynPro application based on ABAP API.
And we don't use integration with CAD systems.

  • MDG Questions...

    MDG experts,
I donu2019t know much about MDG. I assume the process will be similar to MDM and that includes consolidation, harmonization & central master data management scenarios. If that is true then, could anyone clarify the following questions?. If not, guide me how MDG works. I am in the process of reading the MDG doc's.
    1.     In MDG, where is the master data is stored?.  Is it in MDM?
    2.     Is there any architecture diagrams for initial load & Harmonization process?
    Initial load
    1.     How master data from SAP source systems will be loaded?. Is there any specific interface will be in-built with MDG?.
    2.     How Non-SAP master data will be loaded?. By using file upload to MDG?
    3.     Is Hierarchies can be build in MDG for example, Profit Center group hierarchies, UNSPSC codes?
Syndication of Master data from MDG to SAP & Non-Sap systems
    1.     Is there any specific interface is already built for SAP ECC and BW systems?
    2.     How to syndicate master data to Non-SAP systems?  Downloading data in to files then load these data in to non-SAP systems?
    Thanks
    Mike.

    1. In MDG, where is the master data is stored?. Is it in MDM?
ADB : could be in SAP systemsor in MDM or both.
    2. Is there any architecture diagrams for initial load & Harmonization process?
ADB :  yes - check link down
    Initial load
    1. How master data from SAP source systems will be loaded?. Is there any specific interface will be in-built with MDG?.
ADB :  yes - specific extractors are designed in the MDG to extract from source and have them in MDM staging area
    2. How Non-SAP master data will be loaded?. By using file upload to MDG?
ADB :  file upload is supported
    3. Is Hierarchies can be build in MDG for example, Profit Center group hierarchies, UNSPSC codes?
ADB :  - yes can be done
Syndication of Master data from MDG to SAP & Non-Sap systems
    1. Is there any specific interface is already built for SAP ECC and BW systems?
ADB : - there are syndicator interfaces built for any targets with PI as integrator
    2. How to syndicate master data to Non-SAP systems? Downloading data in to files then load these data in to non-SAP systems?
ADB : - there are syndicator interfaces built for any targets with PI as integrator
this is Not MDG;s headache - it gives u the data out of its systems how u integrate to 3rd party systems ur effort and idea.

  • EhP5 and MDG

I have a question around EhP5 and MDG.
Looking at this note, is this SP03 specific to only MDG or are these the notes related to MDG changes in SP03 (which is bundled with other non-MDG related EhP5 SP03 changes)?
    Note 1541825 - Master Data Governance Ehp5 SP03: Release & information note
Wondering if MDG related upgrades and fixes can be applied separately or are they bundled together with all of Ehp5 upgrades and fixes. (meaning they all need to go in together)
And finally, Can an SAP ECC system with Ehp5 & MDG replicate to another ECC system with EhP4?

    Hello CHRIS
First of all  SAP MDM and SAP ERP are a different products.
SAP provided some business packeges for MDG.
For MDG packages installation follow installation instructions from here:
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SAPMDM/SAPMasterData+Governance
You can't replicate Ehp5 & MDG to another ECC system with EhP4.
