MDM Adapter: MDM Adapter listener could not start (MdmSecureSocketFactory)
Hi there,
We are running the following versions of the PI MDM adapter:
MDM_ADAPTER 710.700 SP7 (1000.710.700.7.0.20110411174317)
MDM_JAVA_API 710 SP5 (1000.710.0.5.111.20101227095400)
com.sap.mdm.tech.apireset 710 (710.20101227094734.0000)
com.sap.mdm.tech.connector 710 (710.20101227094734.0000)
com.sap.mdm.tech.mdm4j 710 (710.20101227094734.0000)
tc/mdm/adapter/svc 710.700 (8917411)
And the following versions on the MDM Server itself:
SHARED_COMP 7.1.05.104
MDS 7.1.05.104
MDIS 7.1.05.104
MDSS 7.1.05.106
MDLS 7.1.05.99
All the MDM adapters have the same error now:
MDM Adapter listener could not start due to:
com/sap/mdm/net/MdmSecureSocketFactory
Does anyone know what this error means?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Lynton
Was just a version issue, the MDM java API and MDM adapter had different versions.....un-deploying and re-deploying solved the issue.

Why I want to uninstall is: I don't know how to solve this problem that why i will just want to uninstall everything and re-install it again to make use of it proper with MDM.
I really don't know where to execute the commands which you specified in previous post.

Windows could not start HomeGroup Listener
Windows could not start HomeGroup Listener on. Local Computer. For more.... service-specific error code-2147023817. I have also a problem with the home group provider. . I have tried nearly every thing. ....i cannot join the home group. thanks
Dont think that this has something to do with the Toshiba notebook.
It looks more like Microsoft issue.

guys,
i have a problem here with the connection between a client host and a server database, using a new non-default listener LISTENER_BKP_1. The error showed is:

another important information is that connecting by the default listener LISTENER instead of the LISTENER_BKP_1 listener, the connection is completed successfully. There's enough SGA memory space too.

ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connectionDon't do Oracle on Windows, so I'm not sure how the following relates to the Listener dealing with a dedicated server connection request on Linux/Unix.
On Linux/Unix, a dedicated server request means just that - a dedicated process has to be started to service that client. The Listener does it by using the parameters of the configured listener.ora service to execute +$ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle+. This process then starts up, and the Listener hands off the client connection for this process for servicing.
If there is a failure somewhere on this series of steps fail, the Listener throws the ORA-12518 exception. For example, the +$ORACLE_HOME+ has been incorrectly configured in listener.ora and it fails to execute and startup a dedicated server process.
And this relates to the underlying error you are seeing:
TNS-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00530: Protocol adapter error
32-bit Windows Error: 2: No such file or directoryI think that the Listener on Windows uses the CreateRemoteThread() Win32 call to start up the server process thread. However, it needs a valid process identifier (of the existing Oracle instance) for this call - and thus needs to first identify the Oracle instance process. Could be that this step uses a ORACLE_HOME reference. And if that directory path is not valid, it is unable to identify the process id of the Oracle instance and thus unable to spawn a dedicated thread to service that client. -
Hi again,
I'm on my enterprise management console and Database Instance and Listener shows the green arrow, but the Agent Connection to Instance shows a red downward arrow and the error:

My OraClrAgnt service is up and running (using winxp pro, oracle 11gR2), I'm on my home pc, all my ports are open (my machine's name is "abigail" and it is dmzhost)

when I try to connect to databases which are in restricted session it says TNS connection closed. databases which are open am able to connect.
listener.log shows
TNS-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection TNS-12547: TNS:lost contact TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error TNS-00517: Lost contact Solaris Error: 32: Broken pipe
any idea why its happening.902988 wrote:

Oracle is victim; not culprit.
Root cause & solution is external to Oracle
How many different DB versions installed on this system?

TNS-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection, XE 10g/WinXP
I've installed Oracle XE 10 on Windows XP. When I browse to the database homepage, I get this in listener.log:
Listening on: (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=127.0.0.1)(PORT=8080))(Presentation=HTTP)(Session=RAW))
08-FEB-2012 01:07:24 * service_register * xe * 0
08-FEB-2012 01:07:24 * http * (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=127.0.0.1)(PORT=1702)) * handoff * http * 12518
TNS-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
I don't think it is shortage of resources (just rebooted). I put "DIRECT_HANDOFF_TTC_LISTENER=OFF" in listener.ora .. no luck. I removed the listener.ora file altogether ... ditto.
What else could cause this?
SteveI can connect from SQLPlus. Laptop has 3 GB RAM.

Could not start the TNSListener service on Local Computer
I installed Oracle 10g rel 2 under Windows 2000. The computer is DHCP, so I installed the MS loop adapter, and am able to successfully the new IP address.
SQL*Plus returns this error:
ORA-12541: TNS:no listener
When I try to start the listener via control panel > services, I get this Microsoft Management Console error:
Could not start the OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener service on Local Computer. The service did not return an error. This could be an internal Windows error or an internal service error. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.
My full computer name (via control panel) is dimension4100.ora.newmiddleclass.com and it is a member of workgroup WORKGROUP.
C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts contains (I added the 2nd line):

Can someone please suggest a solution? Thanks. That helped somewhat... now I am able to start the listener. However, SQP*Plus now says:
ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor.
My tnsnames.ora now looks like this:

ORA-12514: TNS:listener could not resolve SERVICE_NAME given in connect
Hi Friends,
I have created 10g database for catalog.
I kept the tns entry in some other server. Tnsping is working fine.. I can see the result.
mexn01:$ tnsping rman09na
TNS Ping Utility for HPUX: Version 9.2.0.5.0 - Production on 28-APR-2008 19:29:07
Copyright (c) 1997 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
Used parameter files:
/apps/app/oracle/local/network/admin/sqlnet.ora
Used TNSNAMES adapter to resolve the alias
Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = torora60)(PORT = 1522))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = rman09na)))
OK (0 msec)
When I am trying to connect to the database I am getting following error..
mexn01:$ sqlplus ismdba/xxxxx@rman09na
SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production on Mon Apr 28 19:29:22 2008
Copyright (c) 1982, 2002, Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
ERROR:
ORA-12514: TNS:listener could not resolve SERVICE_NAME given in connect
descriptor
Please help me..
Thanks in advance.Try on the server where it doesn't work:
sqlplus ismdba/xxxxx@"(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = torora60)(PORT = 1522))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = rman09na)))"
or
tnsping "(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = torora60)(PORT = 1522))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = rman09na)))"
(note the double quotes)
If that works then your tnsnames.ora is incorrect on that server. -

Could not start Agent on a Solaris 5.10u2 x86 machine

There's no error during installation and setup, but the agent could not be started.

How to solve this problem? Any help is appreciated.
HalHi Hal, :)
# /opt/SUNWsymon/sbin/es-start -a
Could not start Agent.I've seen this before too. "svcadm enable/disable sunmcagent" didn't fix things. But for some reason if I started the agent interactively (es-start -ai) it worked... and I let the Agent load a few modules and verified it worked in the Console. Then once I quit out of interactive mode (thereby stopping the Agent) svcadm enable/disable and es-start/stop worked correctly again.
I had that happen to me 2-3 times now, and every time mucking about in interactive mode a bit fixed it. It must reset something in svcs.
