MDM Developer Role

Hello guys.
As an MDM developer, what is part of your role:
1. Import Data from XI using Import Manager
2. Using MDM Console to create Repository and populate it with Data
3 Syndicate the data using MDM Syndicator
4 .Convert Functional to Technical Specs
Is using an MDM Data Manager to de-duplicate the data part of Developers role, or it's MDM Super User's job, some one from the Business Side?
Also does the developer participate in Blueprinting phase, like gathering Functional Specs, or Developers job only to transfer them to Technical
specs?
Also please list some of the other roles of MDM Developer.

1) Is using an MDM Data Manager to de-duplicate the data part of Developers role, or it's MDM Super User's job, some one from the Business Side?
- Creating The De-Duplication strategy to find Duplicate records is the job of an MDM consultant,but once the rules and strategy is set up the matching an merging will be performed by the Business guy, as there is a business need to it.While merging two records it very important which info from which records is selected and this a business person will need to decide.

- Ya it is true that an MDM consultant will decide the MDM technical specs but an MDM consultant also plays an imp role in deciding the Functional specs as this is determined by what MDM can do & what it cannot do.Like for eg an MDM consultation will be req to decide which Roles should be granted which all access,what data can be used as a qualifier data or an hierarchy data.etc.
3)Also please list some of the other roles of MDM Developer.
- An MDM developer another imp role could be in designing a Workflow as most of the data importing will be through a workflow.

MDM(Master Data Management) is used to:
1. Consolidate master data from external system
2. Master data can also be created with in MDM.
3. Full harmonization scenario means importing data from external systems and after cleansing, sending it back to required sytems.
Console:-> used to create/maintain repositories, authorizations and Admin roles
Import Manger-> used to import the legacy data in to the repository ( like uploading data into the SAP tables using BDC)
Data Manager:->Managing the data in the repository( deleting duplicate data, merge the same data, consolidation, Normalization). Very important for Matching strategy.
Syndication:-> Sending data to the other or source system (legasy system).
is there any methodologies to follow like SDLC, asap methodologies
Yes, we implemented using ASAP methodology.
And what is the difference between SAP MDM and ORacle
SAP MDM, ORACLE MDM, Microsoft MDM and IBM MDM

Hello,
we have implemented an adapter to connect the MDM to the IdM. The adapter handles roles and users of an MDM repository and allows the roles to be provisioned to MDM users and vice versa.
I developed the adapter originally for MDM 5.5 SP5/SP6 and IdM 7.0 last year. As there are not that much differences between IdM 7.0 and 7.1 and the Java API of MDM 5.5 and 7.1 an update to MDM 7.1 and IdM 7.1 is a smaller to mid-sized task for me.

Collecting the information and designing the Repository.
Developer desigens the repository according to the business requirements in MDM Console.
Then in Import Manager imports the data into MDM Data Manager .
There in Datat Manager manages the data,cleanesing ,deduplication is done.
Now when time to send data to other Systems Developer does it with the help of MDM Syndicatior.
*MDM Admin
Admin creates the roles and users to access the MDM Repository and to perform theoperations in MDM Clients depending on the roles.

Developer role able to edit a shared report that he did not create

Hi,
It seems like user with "BI Publisher Developer" role is able to edit a report
in shared folder that he has access to.
Question: How can I create a user who can develop/create/edit his own reports,
and have view only access to some shared reports and
have edit access to some other shared reports?
i.e I want a scenario where there are 2 folders in Shared folder say FolderA and FolderB.
I want to create a user who is a developer such that he can create reports under My Folder
for his personal use and also be able to create/edit reports under Shared/FolderA,
but have only view-only access to Shared/FolderB

Not able to create a new DC through NWDS with NWDI Developer role

Hi everyone,
My userid has NWDI Developer role assigned. I am trying to create a new Webdynpro DC under the software component defined in the configuration imported. It gives me an error after assigning the activity and pressing on Finish button.
I went through logs and found that it has some problems because I am not assigned the Lcr* role (this role should be in the NWDI Developer itself). I assigned the Lcr* role to my user id and tried to create the DC again. I am getting the same problem.

Developer Role on Sneak Preview Java SP 16

Java Development Role problems!

I have tried to add the java development role to a users account. I have added the following roles:
SAP_JAVA_NWADMIN_CENTRAL
SAP_JAVA_NWADMIN_LOCAL
Apparently they are meant to get a new tab but it does not appear. Am I adding the right roles?

First, You have to create a logger.xml file in the Logger folder of your portal component
Then get a hold of that logger and write to it:
ILogger pLogger;
pLogger = PortalRuntime.getLogger("my_logger");
pLogger.info("testing");
Then, you can find this Logger in EP6 under : System Admin > monitoring > portal > Logging Console

Leave as PAR. If the server starts, all .par files within this directory get deployed and in the case of success, .bak gets added. So .par.bak files are not deployed again on the next startup.

I think you don't need to delete the original, but just do it. If your changed .par file get deployed successfully, it will overwrite the old .par.bak anyhow.
But make a security copy of the orginal file for the case that you have changed the original PAR in some strange way

ChaRM Test Message SDTM - Tester role cannot be same as the developer role

When the developer raise a test message SDTM, The developer couldn't confirm the message as we get a warning as
" Tester role cannot be same as the developer role "
We cheked the roles of developer and tester, they were not same .
We checked the Assign conditions in SDTM, But it doesnt have any values.

System check the name in the ticket or the BP for the person of Tester and Developer
Every person has unique BP so if the same name is entered in the ticket as Tester and developer then system will give you this warning.Since SAP recommendation is to have Dev and Tester 2 diff person.
You can ignore the same if Tester and Developer is the same person and might be you have technically created different roles for the same.

I would like to have your inputs on creating a developer role for CRM Functional Team in Dev system.
I found a standard role SAPCRM_DEVELOPER , does it has sufficient Authorisations to carry out the config work in CRM or do we need any more additional Auth.
The team members also have IC AgentIC ManagerSrv Pro roles as well.

Hi,
You don't need a role to development team. You can assign the auth. in dev system and perform the tests in the specifics roles.

There is no specific answer for your question, you can create some role which can create function or procedure etc. You can give some basic grant to developer role and than you can add new grant in that role or can create one other new role for your developers

ABAP -Developer Role

My ABAP Developere still they have SAP_ALL access how to control to give only the Developement roles to remove the SAP_ALL.
I already set the role choose SAP Menu - ABAP work Bench Access, But the Developer Can't access SMART FORMS and others..
Pls advise how to set the Roles for ABAP Developers...

in the same role add transaction code SMARTFORMS
if you have already add the transaction
go to PFCG and In the authorization tab check the objects and the field values
S_DEVELOP to activity 03 for dispaly
S_BDS_DS to activity 03 for dispaly if you want change set it to 02

No datasource visible to BI Publisher Developer role

Hi,
I created an user with "BI Publisher Developer" role. When I login as this user, no datasource is visible to this user.
Even though create and edit report are available, he cannot do anything to complete the creation of report.
I know that "BI Publisher Developer" role is a built in role which cannot be edited.
Do I need to create a different role which can have access to datasource and assign that role to the above user (who already has a developer role)?
Document is not clear on this. Please let me know if this behaviour of "BI Publisher Developer" role is correct?

Hi,
The "BI Publisher Developer" role is not editable and I cannot assign any data sources to it.
When I see datasource's definition, it only shows roles that were created by me, i.e. roles can be created and assigned datasources
and datasources can be created and given to previously existing roles.
So, I had to create a role with access to database and then give it to the user/developer to see that datasource.
Which is kind of weird because I have to give 2 roles to any of my report developers, (1) "BI Publisher Developer" (2) role with access to datasource.
Just giving (2) doesn't give him a report create/edit ability and just giving (1) enables the see to create/edit , but he can't successfully
create/edit a report without access to any datasource.
No where in the document it says a report developer needs 2 roles.
