MDM Feature?

Hi All,
Cam MDM create xml file containig data changes after fixed interval of time? I am SAP XI person and we are facing problem in processing MDM file of size 225 MB. This file contains all the changes of master data and is created at 11 pm in night.
So I was just wondering whether it is possible to create xml file after fixed interval of time so that xml size is not very big in size.

It seems you are intrested to know whether it is possible to have interval setting to tell MDM responsible person to do settings in MDM.
The answer is Yes, Its possible. The MDM person can do this automatic syndicator job to set every 1/2/4 hour interval.

Compact Repository Function- MDM 7.1

Hi Experts,
I need some help as in , Is it like the compact repository option has been not incoprated with MDM 7.1 SP 04 or so.
if yes why ?
or some other option can fulfill its functionality in MDM 7.1 ? how it is impactiong the whole MDM application ?

Compacting a repository: When the number of records in an MDM repository has been reduced significantly, the MDM repository becomes sparse and the MDM Server becomes less efficient. You can use the Compact command to reduce the runtime memory used by the MDM repository and increase its speed.
Other SDNers - Can you share some more on Compact repository ??
The Compact operation is a legacy utility designed to renumber record IDs in the unlikely case that the total number of records
in a repository becomes greatly and permanently reduced. Because it changes the ID values of existing records in the repository, Compact does not support expressions, workflows, or other MDM features which expect a recordu2019s ID to remain constant. Due to its rare applicability, its incompatibility with newer MDM features, and the greater memory capacity of modern servers, compact functionality has been removed from the MDM Console as of SP6 Patch 3 and should not be used in prior versions of SAP MDM 5.5 SP6.

SAP Insurance - MDM Integration

Hi All,
I want to know Feasibility of integrating SAP Insurance( especially CD module in that ) and MDM.
SAP is not giving any standard repository for SAP Insurance module.
So Can we use any other repositoy for this, If possible which will be the best option.

Hi Nikhil,
In order to work with the Insurance Industry and SAP-MDM, you will have to deal with basically two main type of masters .
1) Customer Master
2) Policy records master.
and most importantly link the two.In the present SAP-MDM version you can integrate these two master records details in One MDM rep intelligently using the MDM features like Hierarchy,Qualified tables etc well.
however the scenarios will be very complicated to manager the two and link them correctly and efficiently.So you will to go for the designing for two separate rep for storing both theses masters.In this case linking will be a problem as two separate rep cannot talk to each other.
This scenario building will get easier if you plan to design it will the latest 7.1 version.Where in you have provision of two main tables ,you can store the two masters separately and also link them with the Lookupmain field.

Some of the Intune features are missing

Hi
we have Microsoft Intune as part of the EMS subscription
weird stuff. We don't see the Protection, Updates and the License buttons in the Admin page
but the features do exist there in the backstage. we have policies for updates, we see the update approval on the administration pane, when I install the agent on a Windows 7\8 it installed the forefront client, we have alerts... etc...
we log on with a global admin \ tenant admin and the result is the same
what can be the reason for that ? :/

That is a new feature we implemented last November. If you don't have any PC's enrolled we won't show you those features until you do. Once a PC is enrolled the features will automatically appear. It's to keep the the UI simple and clear
for customers who are only using MDM features.

IOS MDM Issues

I don't want to sound silly, but I would just like to get a confirmation on a hunch that I have. I've worked with apple computers for some time, but its been awhile since I've had to play with the built in MDM features and it seems to have changed since the last time I used it. Long story short I've got some iPads I'd like to deploy to remote areas, but there are a few issues I'm running into. Keep in mind that I've been trying to, for test purposes, keep all my tinkering sandboxed before doing any kind of official real world release. So the server is currently on a closed local network with self assigned certificates.
Running the server off a 2010 mac mini on 10.9 with an iPad on iOS 7
1. To install 3rd party apps do you HAVE to have a VPP? (Even though I have them selected and setup for the device under the payload settings it doesn't seem to install onto the device)
2. To setup remote management do you HAVE to have Apple Configurator? (Running into an issue with installing the enrollment profile, says it can't contact to the server, so I don't know if its a network issue, or a change in how apple MDM works now)
3. I can't find a compatible version of Apple Config for 10.9, anyone know of one still on the net?
4. So far I've been installing all my profiles via email. In a mass deployment scenario what would you suggest from experience? Once again does that come back to Apple Config?

I manage 2,600 iPads using an MDM. I am very familiar with Apple Configurator, MDMs, VPP, and DEP. I'd be happy to answer your questions:

For Apple Configurator, you do not need VPP for free apps. However for paid apps, yes, you must be signed up for VPP.
2. To setup remote management do you HAVE to have Apple Configurator? (Running into an issue with installing the enrollment profile, says it can't contact to the server, so I don't know if its a network issue, or a change in how apple MDM works now)
No you don't need Apple Configurator (but you can use it if you want). You can use an MDM and either have users enroll through a web portal or via Apple's Device Enrollment Program (DEP) using a Pre-stage enrollment set up in your MDM.
3. I can't find a compatible version of Apple Config for 10.9, anyone know of one still on the net?
I would contact Apple to see if they can provide you with a link. Apple Configurator 1.7 is the only one on the App Store, and I wouldn't trust downloading from a 3rd party site. Call Apple's Enterprise Support at 1-866-752-7753 and let them know your situation.

We use an MDM to automatically install configuration profiles to our fleet of iPads. Given your description of wanting to manage devices in remote locations, I would highly recommend using an MDM for OTA management. That way you can make changes on the fly and deploy them wirelessly without having to use Apple Configurator which requires a physical connection.
There are many MDM's out there that offer many of the same features. Robert offered the Enterprise iOS link that offers a good overview of most of the major players http://www.enterpriseios.com/wiki/Comparison_MDM_Providers .
I would also strongly recommend you sign up for VPP MD for use with DEP. Here's a quick reference guide to DEP: https://www.apple.com/ipad/business/docs/DEP_Business_Guide_EN_Feb14.pdf .

Webdynpro and BW 3.5

I am looking to see what opportunities there are for using Webdynpro in BW3.5.
One of my colleagues works on a BW 7 system and he has written a ABAP Webdynpro program. It would be great to have that same program for BW 3.5. I am aware that I need the SAP Netweaver Developer Studio but I wondered if you could only write Java based programs with this version?
Our BASIS services are external so it is difficult to get any answers from them without a lengthy process and a quote/bill etc. Is there any way I can check that the appropriate services are running for such a program to work?

Updating Apps using Apple Configurator

How do you updates apps already on ipads using Apple Configurator?

tmbethea, I'm in a similar boat but have found workarounds using a combination of Apple Configurator to deploy a base then using a commercial MDM to manage devices remotely for about 200 ipads spread throughout the US. I'm using two different MDMs at the moment and can confidently answer most of your questions about either AirWatch or Good (hardly an MDM but has some MDM features).

Is it possible to switch a IPAD on supervised mode without a MAC PC?

We are about to use iPads and IPods for a Point of Sale solution for a customer. I need to activate the supervised mode to use some of our SOTI MobiControl MDM features. Since I have no Mac available is it possible to activate the supervised mode with a Windows machine or on the device?

Hi Johan,
Unfortunately you can't. You need to use Apple Configurator which is only available for Mac OS X. You can't supervise a device with a Windows machine or on the device itself. Supervision ties management of the device to a specific computer and Apple has allowed MDM's to take advantage of some of the features that Configurator has. So far, Apple has only made the initial supervision process possible through Apple Configurator by wiping the device and adding the supervision profile to the device.
I know its not the answer you want to hear, but I hope it answers your question.

License compliant and purchase

Hi, i was testing the product for about 3 weeks and i'm having some problems with de license and software module.
After i scan the network, it detects 40 Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Business installations, thats ok. then it shows that Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Business is not compliant, looking the list of devices, shows that is not verified, so y Add a Purchase and put that i have 100 license of office, but it's keeping show me that messages, and 0 license available,
someone can give me a hand?

MDM's merging feature in EP

I want to add MDM's merging feature to the MDM ResultSet iView which is available with MDM Business packages for EP.
Is there any way I can modify the ResultSet iView or do I have to create a new iView?

The MDM iViews do not currently provide a "merge" utility similar to that provided by the MDM Data Manager.

Can anyone let me know if the Spell check feature is currently available in SRM MDM Catalogue. We are trying to simulate the following scenario:
We want to replicate the Content Management functionality in SRM MDM Catalog so that an external tool is not required prior to Catalogue Admin i.e. the MDM tool covers the current functionality used by us in the existing Microsoft access system including Spell Check, Quality Control.
Is this possible, or do we still need to do this outside the system.

Hi,
you can try this.There is a spell checker in MDM Data Manager .Select all records goto edit menu there is an option of spell check.
If u want it at field level then goto field enter a value Right click(on the field itself)-select Spell check.

Unable to use Compare to Original feature in MDM WDC

Hi,
I am using MDM WDC in a WDJ project where MDM APIs are used to save record details after editing in checkout non exclusive format before passing it to BPM.However in the next step the standard Compare to Original is not identifying the modifications for the record related to checked out record id vis a vis Original record id.

The Personal hotspot feature of the iPhone MUST be supported by your carrier and you must subscribe to a data package that permits tethering. If you meet both of these conditions, then contact your carrier as they may have your account provisioned incorrectly.
If you are using an unsupported carrier, then you may not be able to use that feature at all.

Keyword feature on MDM client

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone is using keyword feature of free-form search on MDM client.
I checked one of field as normal for keyword on Console and update indicies of repository. Then, opened the client and entered the value for the keyword. It didn't work.
Am I missing something?

As per Console guide, you cannot keyword a normalized field. But, for me it worked for Telephone Number field which is normalized!!
Another thing is, Hope you are searching under free-form search with Keyword and "Operator" set as "Keyword contains" or "Keyword starts with" etc options.
