MDM - Support Package and Enhancement Package
Hi Team,
Wondering, if do we have SP & Ehp applicable for MDM?
If available what's the latest SP & Ehp available for MDM 5.5?
And if any URL relevant to this topic is much appriciated.
Regards
Sekhar
Hi Sekhar,
Please refer to [SAP Note 1236844|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1236844] Which explains the MDM 5.5 versioning strategy.
As for your 2nd question - MDM 5.5 SP06 Patch05 is currently the latest version available for MDM 5.5.
Hope this helps,
Idan

What is Plug-in, SUpport Package, Add in and how R3 and BW are interdep
Hello Every One,
Can some one explain me in simple words about the terms, Plug-ins, SUpport Packs, Service Packs, Add-in's, SAP Notes and how R3 and BW are interdependant in the above mentioned terms? Can anyone give a simple example?
regards,
kishoreHi,
<b><u>Plug-ins:[/</u>b]
Additional program which enhances the functionality of an existing program. Additional functions which may not be needed or are mutually exclusive are often implemented as plug-ins.
For example ICMAN contains various plug-ins for the various network protocols which it supports (HTTP, SMTP, FTP,...).
The interface between mySAP.com components (for example, SAP APO, SAP BBP, SAP BW, SAP CRM) and one or more SAP R/3 systems.
The SAP R/3 Plug-In unites the plug-ins APO-CIF, CRM-R3A, BW-BCT and B2B-PRO-PI. This simplifies maintenance significantly and guarantees compatibility between the individual mySAP.com components. With SAP R/3 Plug-In, you can use several mySAP.com components simultaneously in a single system. SAP R/3 Plug-In supplies the mySAP.com component transaction data and master data in real time.
Technically, there are two versions of each release of the SAP R/3 Plug-In, a PI version and a PI-A version.
The technical names of the software components are PI and PI_A
<b><u>SUpport Packs</u></b>
A set of corrections for serious software errors in the SAP system.
Support Packages are compiled periodically and made available in the SAP Service Marketplace.
<b><u>Service Packs</u></b>
A grouping of different services for a quotation.
A service package can be agreed between a service provider and a customer within a service contract or as part of a complex service plan, which can also be additionally agreed in a service contract.
EXAMPLE
A "Winter Car Check" service package containing the following services is agreed in a contract:
Cooling water check
Brake fluid check
Battery inspection
Light inspection
<b><u>Add-in's</u></b>
add-ins are enhancements to the standard version of the system. They can be inserted into the SAP System to accommodate user requirements too specific to be included in the standard delivery. Since specific industries often require special functions, SAP allows you to predefine these points in your software
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/e6/d54d3c596f0b26e10000000a11402f/content.htm
<b><u>SAP Notes</u></b>
Documentaion Prepared by SAP for publishing clarity in case of corrections or changes happening to the SAP Software.
<b><u>R3 and BW are interdependant</u></b>
Then BW takes the Data from R/3 : so there has to be Support Pluggins which are mapped to the BW server. So the SAP Supported R/3 Versions should be used.
Eg: SAP Stoped the Support for r/3 4.0 series

Hello,
Im going through this document;
Master Guide ; SAP Enhancement Package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0 Powered by SAP NetWeaver
Using SAP Enhancement Package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0 and SAP NetWeaver 7 including Enhancement Package 2
Im having a point to clarify;
SAP enhancement packages have Support Packages of their own that are equivalent to the Support Package versions of the underlying SAP system.
We highly recommend installing the enhancement package in combination with the latest available Support Package stack. This approach reduces installation, modification adjustment, and testing effort. Using this strategy, you can install SAP enhancement packages as a normal maintenance activity together with Support Package stacks.
Whats meant by ;
SAP enhancement packages have Support Packages of their own that are equivalent to the Support Package versions of the underlying SAP system.
We highly recommend installing the enhancement package in combination with the latest available Support Package stack.
Can you help me to clarify this with an example
regards,
ZerandibHi,
Let me give you some basic example to make this statement clear.
We should first of all distinguish between the terms upgrade and update.
UPGRADE means from one Major release level to Another Major Release. Eg: R/3 46C to ECC 6.0
UPDATE means it can be either support package for installed components or Enhancement Packages for existing component.
Instead of upgrading the the entire RELEASE SAP has come up with EHP updates. This give you all major new changes without
doing a complete release upgrade. Also Downtime is reduced.
Consider this component
SAP_HR 470 0010 SAPKE47010 R/3 Enterprise 4.7 system
If this is upgraded to EHP 5 then the naming convention becomes
SAP_HR 605 0043 SAPKE60543 ECC 6.0 with EHP 5
Just like how we have support packages for each component. WE have support packs for the enhancement packages too.
More information can be pbtained in the below link

Refer to this SAP notes for further understanding.

I hope I was able to clarify your questions.

Support package stack 11 (Java and ABAP)
Does anybody have any experience with the latest support package stack 11 already? Are there some problems solved, and more important: are there new errors introduced?
Thanks for your help.Hi Deepu,
Thanks for your reaction. I'm familiar with this OSS note. I'm mainly curious to customer experiences who have already implemented it. This SPS will solve some of our problems, but we're a little scared for the new errors that will be introduced with it.

RSPOR_SETUP = Different ABAP and Java support packages.
Hi all,
We have an ECC 6.0 system with abap+java stacks. When we run the RSPOR_SETUP report we get this error:
Different ABAP and Java support packages. Combination of support packages invalid
And with some more clicking we find this:
6. Compare version information of Java support package (com.sap.ip.bi classes) with ABAP support package (SAP BI)
ABAP Support Package: 13
Java Support Package: 0
On the Java stack we see (among others) these components:
sap.com BI-IBC 7.00 SP12 (1000.7.00.12.0.20070509050058)
sap.com BI_MMR 7.00 SP12 (1000.7.00.12.0.20070507084106)
sap.com BI_UDI 7.00 SP12 (1000.7.00.12.0.20070507084125)
sap.com BI-BASE-S 7.00 SP12 (1000.7.00.12.11.20080324092518)
sap.com BI-WDALV 7.00 SP12 (1000.7.00.12.1.20071105133039)
sap.com BI-REPPLAN 7.00 SP12 (1000.7.00.12.3.20080104101916)
So I believe all components are correctly installed.
What are we doing wrong?Hello.
Please be aware, that report RSPOR_SETUP should NOT be used with a Netweaver 04s system. This report has been replaced by the support desk tool. I request you to run the support desk tool as per note 937697 to check if there are any configuration issues in your system. You can resolve any red traffic lights that might be reported by the tool by following the corresponding actions suggested.
I hope I can be helpful.

Installing support package 16, 17 and 18 for Netwever 7.0 (ECC 6 EHP 3 )
Hi I just want to know if we can directly load SP for Netweaver 7.00. I just went through some doc but they said we can upload SP directyl from SPAM tcode. can we install it from SPAM tcode i have component SAP_BASIS SP 16, 17 and 18. i downloaded SP using Solution manager i am at implementation phase in the same. i am bit confused should i proceed with SPAM ( but i tried upload package option is greyed out there).
any suggestion will be appreciated.

Question on Appying NW Support Package Stack
Please note that both individual Support Packages and SP Stacks are Non-cumulative. This means that, when you import Support Packages, then you import a gap less series of Support Packages and, if
you use SP Stacks, you also import these without a gap. The only exception is the Support Package for SPAM itself. & Java support packages which comes in SCA format.
Uday, Did you try to copy from what I posted?.. the correct procedure would be to direct to the original link.. not CTRLC & CTRLV!

How to find and apply new Support Packages?
Hi to everyone.
The system is SAP R/3 Enterprise (may 4.7 ext2?)
The spam version is 6.20/0020
i have to update the support packages, so i went on https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/swdc, but i dont know what SP i have to download.
the situation is (so i have to update all of them?):
SAP_BASIS 620 0059 SAPKB62059
SAP_ABA 620 0058 SAPKA62058
SAP_APPL 470 0018 SAPKH47018
SAP_HR 470 0058 SAPKE47058
EA-IPPE 200 0004 SAPKGPIB04 .
PI 2003_1_470 0002 SAPKIPZH52
PI_BASIS 2003_1_620 0002 SAPKIPYH52
ST-PI 2005_1_620 0002 SAPKITLQG2
EA-HR 200 0015 SAPKGPHB15
LSO 200 0018 SAPK-200PIINLSOFor eg. for 4.6C you have upto 52 in BASIS ,ABAP,and cross application components.
you download 43..44..52 and using SPAM you can upload from front end or you can uncar them on the App.server.
However, during the course of implementing patches, during the SPDD and SPAU phase system gives the option to retain the changes that are made to standard programs / objects / tables etc or to reset the objects to SAP standard objects. It is during these changes only that the functional consultant has to study the program/changes which are done and the impact of the changes. So when you come through this SPDD or SPAU phase you have to make sure from your ABAPers and functional consultants regarding whether to reset all to original or retain the changes. This is crucial otherwise you will impair your business unknowingly.
Click on the info button beside the support pack name and see the dependencies.
The order of applying patches will be BASIS,ABAP,Cross application components,HR etc...
And finally it's not the case that we should go for applying a support pack because it's available at SAP market place. -

2. What should be taken care of ?
3. What downtime should I take ? Should it be for R/3 and BI both ?
4. Should I clear the queues in RSA7 before upgrading the content ?
If some point is left, please write it so that it can be considered in my case.
Your help at the earliest will be appreciated.

Import Support Packages and note 1540729
Hello to All,
In the start of the import for SAPKH60019 and SAPKH60020, note 1540729 must be applied using ASU Toolbox. I have followed the steps for ST-PI 2008_1_* SP 04 of the note. In step 8, I have loaded the XML file using Tr. /ASU/START, following note 1000009. My problem is, what to do now. How and when I must execute the "Security Manual Follow-Up Steps" in /ASU/START?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Eduardo BarriosHello,
Thanks for your help. My doubt about when, appears because note 1540729, says:
" We recommend that you execute the report in conjunction with importing the
Support Package because you cannot activate the XSRF protection at a later
time with the support of the ASU Toolbox described in the following
section."
It seems that it means, during the import of SP, not after the import.

Does anybody have same experiences with it?
SAP support is very slow in solving this issue.
Does anybody know how we can implement corrections from note 1100728?
Thank you very much for answer.

Hi all,
Is ther any difference between the OSS and support packages?
Plz explain for this one.
regatrds
vijayHi,
IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE
Support packages provide a bundle of fixes in electronic form that are imported into the SAP system. These Support packages must be imported in order (starting with the very first one) and they cannot be skipped. All fixes within a Support package must be imported together, there is no ability to pick and choose the fixes.
The second form of fixes that SAP provides is via OSS notes that pertain to specific problems. These notes must be manually applied to the system, as these fixes are generally not available in electronic form at the time the note is published. Care must be taken to ensure that the note is entered correctly otherwise new problems may occur, or the existing problem is not corrected.
A Support package may contain fixes that also exist as individual notes, but many times they contain fixes that are only provided in Support packages. SAPs strategy for providing intra-release fixes is through Support packages and the use of individual notes is decreasing.
I hope this information could help you.
Note: Points always encourage me to reply !! -
OSS Note deimplemented and included in Support Package
Hi,
We have deimplemented note in version 2, because version 3 was not possible to be implemented in SNOTE.
Now it is deimplemented at all, and when I try to implement latest version of the note, I get the message
SAP Note already implemented by Support Package
How can I implement this note now? I checked the objects in the system and the note is not implemented.Note number 1581093.
As mentioned in the symptom. Version 2 of the note is created to extend the functionality provided in the Version 1. Version 3 of the note is created to correct the error in Version 2.
Information from SPAM

How can I find the information required if neeed?
WHen I try to reset the implementation I get the message

Question about OSS Notes, Archiving and Support Packages
Hello,
does anyone know if all the OOS notes related to archiving programs corrections (category like "performances", "program error", "advance developments",
"legal functions", "corrections of legal functions", "problem", "exit added", "special developments"...) are all automatically appllied on SAP when a support packages is installed?
Thank you
Best regards
FabioLooks like the only requirement is Vcenter and Vsphere 4 client. So version 4.0 and up is supported.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/app_ntwk_services/data_center_app_services/application_networking_manager/5.1/device_support/table/sdt.html
ANM 5.2 and 5.1 includes a plug-in that allows you to integrate ANM into a VMware virtual data center environment. VMware is a third-party product for creating and managing virtual data centers. Using VMware vSphere Client, you can access ANM functionality and manage the ACE real servers that provide load-balancing services for the virtual machines in your virtual data center.
To use the ANM 5.2/5.1 plug-in, you must use VMware vCenter Server and VMware vSphere Client 4.
For more information about using ANM in a VMware virtual data center environment, see the User Guide for the Cisco Application Networking Manager 5.2/5.1. -
Support Package and Delta/Extractor functionality
Hello Experts,
We have been testing the New GL Totals Delta and Extractor functionalities. Previously when Support Packege 13 was installed, the Delta was bringing incorrect results.
Now we are using Support Pack 15. Now if i post documents in ecc and upload to bi, the Delta is working properly and values match in ecc and bi.
Could you please suggest if there have been any changes or upgradations in the New GL Totals Delta/Extractor functionality between Support Packages 13 and 15.
Thanks and Regards,
Labanya.Hi,
Its always better to drain the delta queues before an upgrade.
As a standard practice we drain the delta queues by running the IP/ chain multiple times.
As a prerequiste we cancel/reschedule the V3 jobs to a future date during this activity.
The V3 extraction delta queues must be emptied prior to the upgrade to avoid any possible data loss.
V3 collector jobs should be suspended for the duration of the upgrade.
They can be rescheduled after re-activation of the source systems upon completion of the upgrade.
See SAP Notes 506694 and 658992 for more details.

Load and Empty all Data mart Delta Queues in SAP BW. (e.g. for all export DataSources)
The SAP BW Service SAPI, which is used for internal and BW to BW data mart extraction, is
upgraded during the SAP BW upgrade. Therefore, the delta queues must be emptied prior to the
upgrade to avoid any possibility of data loss.
