iam creating mdm to xi scenario in that i have one probs.
iam not under standing
which type of bussiness system,technical system i have to take
i am think ing that third party object
but how to configure the mdm in xi that
and any setting in mdm system and connect to out bound folder and reding the data .
i need to import sxd file from mdm system .
pls can any body help me pls

MDM Adapter supporting PI 7.0 released with MDM 7.1

Hi,
I have imported the MDM adapter which supports PI 7.0 and is released with MDM7.1 to facilitate Syndication/Import of data from/to MDM and configured the sender channel in PI for the same to fetch the file from the outbound port of MDM server.
I observe that when file is syndicated to outbound port and is ready for PI processing, the adapter do not instantly fetch the file from outbound port even for hours but when i make a dummy change in Communication channel and again activate the same then it fetches the file and processes it in PI but after that if any other file is syndicated in the outbound port i have to again manually make a dummy change and activate it in PI and so on.
I found one Sap Note 1452509 which is relevant to this but want to know if the settings mentioned in SAP note are to be made on MDM server or PI and if there is any other setting which i have to make in channel or in MDM so that file is processed instantly/near real time manner.
I am on PI7.0

Hey Amit,
If you are talking about "Restart the MDM ADAPTER java component" then it will be done on PI server. MDM system does not have any java component.
This is a common error which we also faced, it happens often right after the restart of MDM server.
I have seen cases where when MDM server was restarted, we had to come to PI and restart the MDM Adapter services to make Sender MDM Adapter pick files from Ready folder.

MDM Password change

Hi Folks
As far as I know there is no provision to change the password for SAP MDM from the client(data manager/import manager/syndicator), Once it is set in console,
How if the user wants to change it, on his own with out informing the console Admin to change.
If somebody knows extra,pl share it

Hi Amole,
Password can only be changed in Console and Data Managerin present version of MDM 5.5 .You can also use APIs if you want to perform the same.

Upgrade related query- Repository Update

Hi All,
As mentioned in the upgrade guide :
After installation of MDM 7.1 and having started the MDM 7.1 Server use the MDM Console to update
your repositories. Choose Update Repository from the context menu of each repository. The MDM Console then updates
the repository so that it can be used with the latest builds. The data in the repository is automatically
upgraded.
But, i did the same thing but in my case after un-archiving the repository and login in with respective correct repository credentials,Right clicking on repository the option "Update Repository" is not active ...How will i do this action ?how do i update the repository now ?
( I have tried by Loading & Unloading also )
Please suggest !

Steps involved in the MDM 7.1 Upgradation
1.     Installation of MDM 7.1 in Dev Environment
2.     Archive MDM 5.5 repository from the Production system
3.     Unarchive the repository in the Dev system
4.     Update repository in the Dev
5.     Update and Test Import Maps
6.     Update and Test Syndication Maps
7.     Testing at the Portal level
8.     Java API upgrade and check the custom made functionalities with API in the repository
9.     CLIX Command Scripts need to be reworked
10.     MDM ports to be reworked with the help of repository schema
11.     Import the repository schema to the production environment after installation of 7.1 in production system.
12.     Transportation from Dev to Production of JAVA API, CLIX

How do i put my school profiles back from my ipad? Please help me!

I'm guessing that you deleted the MDM profile in Settings -> General -> Profiles, is that correct?
If so, the only way to get them back is to re-enroll the deivce into the MDM. Not sure how your school did it in the past, but it would have either been done by having you log into an enrollment page or it could have been deployed with Apple Configurator.
You will likely have to contact your school's I.T. department to get the MDM profile added back to your iPad. Once that is installed, all of the other profiles and apps will re-install on your iPad.

Missing namespace for XI Settings for MDM Catalog 3.0

Hi All,
After having a SRM and PI server up and running, I am following the XI Settings for MDM Catalog 3.0 in the Note 1177780 https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap/support/notes/1177780
And I am now stuck at page 4 Interface Determination.
The problem is that I cannot find the namespace http://sap.com/xi/SRM-MDMCatalog
Thus, I cannot further proceed to interface mapping.
Any ideas?
PS: I found that if I
1/ do not follow the guide and use Business System as service, I can have F4 help on the namespace available in the Design Builder
2/ follow the guide and use Business Service as service, the inputs are just like text labels, and there is no F4 help on the namespace
So should I still follow the guide ? Or I will be better off using Business System as service ?

Dbms settings in mdm console

hi all
i have installed mdm server, console and oracle database. after installing console i could start mdm server through console , but when i try to configure dbms settings , it shows me the error message , " error in initializing database engine :

Hey Akhil,
In the MDM console right click on the SAP MDM SERVER and Mount the MDM Server by specifying either the IP address or the host name of the MDM Server.
After u mount the MDM server if it is in stopped mode then start it.
If u want to mount any repository right click on thatMDM server and say either create repository or unarchive repository.
If u want to unarchive any repository u must keep the A2A files which are provided along with SAP Business content on the MDM server SAP MDM -->> Server -->> Archives.
Then only u will be able to unarchive the repository and get the structure provided by SAP like for eg. Vendor,Employee,Article,Material etc...

Unable to Retrieve Database Settings in MDM 7.1 Console

Hi,
I have installed MDM7.1 on AIX and on DB2 successfully.
Installed MDM Console 7.1 on my desktop and as part of Post steps I am able to mount the DB but while I am setting Database settings getting the error "unable to Retrieve Database settings" in MDM7.1.
Can any one please suggest on the same

Thank you for your reply, I have gone through that thread. I have done all the settings required for MDM and DB2.
Only thing I havn't done is DB2 Client was not installed. Because our DB2 expert is saying that he has installed full DB2 installation and since DB2 and MDM are on the same box,
client software is not necessery. Is this correct..please advice.

Portal is just the Front end for the backend system MDM.
So if the performance in MDM is slow the same will be reflected even on the front end system.
To improve your MDM system you need to set the field properties in MDM correctly .
Basically your data modelling in MDM must be correct.

Temporary disable corporate MDM security settings

I work for a big corporation that support BYOD for coprorate intranet. One of the MDM policy is disabled the fingerprint reader usage on my iPhone for unlock the device due to the concern of security breach with stolen phone and fingerprint on the phone. Question: is there a way to turn ON and OFF the corporate MDM so that I can use my phone with the fingerprint reader outside of corporate Intranet and turn it back ON when I need to access the corporate data (email and what not). Is there an app or a way to do this? I don't want my company hijacks my device completely but I also want to be able to access my work data and network when I am working. Thanks,

"Custom Settings" (.plist) for IOS MDM (Enforce DNS)

I am working with Apple's Profile Manager on Mavericks Server. In search of a solution for filtering content on these student ipads while they are off network, I found OpenDNS's cloud based filtering. Instead of using a HTTP Global Proxy (not an option for a small school of our size due to the price of running aquireing quality upload speeds), OpenDNS with their unique location in network traffic, filters through their DNS service. This setting could be locked onto my suppervised ipads using our MDM if there are API calls available to "enforce dns" for all networks that the ipads connect to.
Is it possable to design a .plist to Enforce DNS in this manner?

I wouldn't think so iOS is a user opt in universe were the user is the owner and all powerful, not the institution.
And globally "enforcing DNS" would most likely not be acceptable to Apple in their current user centric model
Things are improving and who knows what ios8 will bring
Stupid question but why worry about filtering iPads when they are off your network, connected to a network you're not responsible for.
iPads on my network are filtered, I don't care what they look off site, it's not on my network not my responsibility.

Error in starting MDM Server from MDM Console

Hi,
I have installed SAP MDM 5.5 SP05 on Windows 2003 Server.
When i try to start the MDM Server (i.e. MDM Service) from the MDM console it gives me the following error:
<i>Error Starting apmdmd(MDM Server): The machine 'apmdmd' is not Windows-based. The MDM server cannot be started from this application; please use CLIX on the machine instead. </i>
But if i start the MDM Service manually and then mount the server, it works fine.

It sounds to me like a problem potentially with either the permissions of the Windows user or perhaps a software firewall. The Console uses a low-level Windows API function to determine if the target machine on which MDS is installed is Windows-based. This function may be blocked by some OS or firewall-level setting. This may be the case even if you are able to use the same client machine to connect to the target machine via the Service Control Manager and start MDS from there.
I would like to help with this problem, but I need to know a few more things:
When the problem occurs, is the Console running on the same Windows machine as MDS?
You mentioned Windows 2003 Server... when you run the Console on this machine, are you logged in as an Administrator of the machine? And do you still get the error when you attempt to start MDS from within the Console?
Once MDS is started, and you mount it within the Console, are you having any other problems, such as logging in to a repository, or viewing logs?
Is there a firewall installed on the machine or machines that the software is installed on? We may have to review the settings of the firewall, or try temporarily disabling it (on both ends, or at least on the machine running MDS), to see if the problem goes away -- then we'll know the problem is with the firewall settings.
CLIX is a fine workaround if you can use it, but clearly this problem needs to be rectified.

Reg..Not able to transfer items form MDM to SRM(Procurement System)

We are implementing SRM5.0 with SRM-MDM2.0.
We have done all the initial level settings in SRM-MDM2.0, and able to add items in shopping cart and view the shopping cart through web, but the moment we click on "Transfer Items" the next screen display the following error message
(404 not found. The request resource doesnt found)
Though we have enter all the details in SRM > Master Data> Define Web Application Server Call Structure area and maintained the Catalog Id in the Org Structure Attributes link too.
But still we are facing the same problem.
Note-: Please help me once we create catalog in MDM how these catalog to be used by SRM users, what are the importent settings/configuration required for the same.
Points will be awarded for the help.

Use Error Log
Use HTTP GET to call Web service.
then using slg1 transaction just check wat error r u getting then u can act accordingly
