MDM with Biztalk

Hello there,
1. MDM with biztalk ... It's possible? or i need XI/PI?
2. Licenses?
Goodbye, and thanks!

Hi,
MDM can syndicate/send Master Data only in XML or Flat files.
MDM puts this file in a particular folder on MDM server by Automatic Process.( or MDM can also send it to anywhere on ur desktop by manual process)
If Biztalk can pick this XML file Automatically then u dont need XI/PI
Otherwise XI/PI can very well pick file from MDM folder Automatically using FTP(File) adapter.
Thanks,
Maheshwari

    All,
    We have deployed Microsoft Biztalk Server 2013 Enterprise edition on a cloud VM. We are facing an issue with SFTP adapter to receive. Following are the details;
On this VM, we are facing an issue with BizTalk server 2013 SFTP adapter. The SFTP location can receive and send message through SFTP clients and .Net code. But using BizTalk server 2013 SFTP adapter we are only able to send the file on SFTP location but
could not receive the files from same location.
We are getting  just one line error in system event log that is :

  • Integration of PI 7.1 with BIztalk

    Hi,
I want to integrate PI 7.1 with Biztalk.
What are the best options to integrate ? Which adapters are the best for this integration ?
Any extra steps we need to perform for this integration ?
Any blogs or documents with screenshots about this integration ?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Augastine,
You can use SOAP adapter to integrate both the systems depending upon your requirements. As an example please see page25 in this document:

    Hello All,
I have to work on BAM with BizTalk Server 2013 and SQL server 2012 , is BAM already comes with BizTalk server installation ?
Will I needs to explicitly install that ? from where I can get the installer for BAM ?
What else I will needs to work on BAM ?

    Thanks and Regards, Nilesh Thakur.

    Hi,
BAM is available with BizTalk, all you need is to select it and install .
    Refer the
Installation Guide available on MSDN or follow the blog: http://sandroaspbiztalkblog.wordpress.com/2013/05/05/biztalk-2013-installation-and-configuration-important-considerations-before-set-up-the-server-part-1/

  • SQL Server Agent ... Relation with BizTalk.

    Hi All,
I know that there are jobs in SQL Server Agent which are used to perform some activity on scheduled basis like Purging, backup etc...
what happens if SQL server agent service is in Stop mode(is it mandatory to have it started) and does it have any relation with BizTalk BAM.
    Praj Dixit

Yes, you have to make sure the SQL Server Agent is running on the SQL Server. When the SQL Server
Agent is stopped, the built-in BizTalk SQL Server Agent jobs that are responsible for database maintenance cannot run. This behaviour causes database growth, and this growth may cause performance issues.
SQL Server Agent jobs except the MessageBox_Message_Cleanup_BizTalkMsgBoxDb job should be enabled and running successfully.
You can learn about the SQL Server Agent jobs at Description of the SQL
Server Agent jobs in BizTalk Server
    Regarding BizTalk BAM,
Yes Backup BizTalk Server Job takes the backup of BAM Primary Import, SQL NS as
well as other BizTalk databases. The BAM Analysis database, BAM Star Schema Database and Tracking Analysis Server database store content in SQL Server Analysis Services cubes. The Backup BizTalk Server job does not back up these databases. Instead, to
backup these databases, it uses SQL Server Analysis Manager.
I found this utility (BizTalk Monitoring
Automation Utility) very useful to automate the monitoring of
your BizTalk environment. If you have liberty to go with a paid tool,
BizTalk360 a monitoring and support tool is the one for you.

  • Visual Studio 2008 with BizTalk 2009 Missing Assembly Reference - Developing under Windows7

    I'm having a similar issue to this....> http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/2df94010-5755-4982-a02d-81f8feb51fda/visual-studio-2008-with-biztalk-2009-missing-assembly-reference?forum=biztalkgeneral
Prior to going to Win7, I was developing on a Win-XP machine. I used to delete the generated code and have VS generate it again, but no luck. I get errors in the Build, similar to what shows in the Message Assignment shape in the orc. It's complaining about
a missing part of a Multi-part message.  Oh, and the Multi-part message is a schema created in VS2005/BizTalk2006 R2, which was created on a separate Win-XP machine.
Just wondering if anyone has come up with a fix to this? The previously documented entry did not seem to have a solution.
    Thanks.

    Jeff,
    Do you see your_orchestration.odx.cs ?
If you do Can you try as following:
    1. Take backup of whole solution
    2. Delete all .cs files associated with biztalk artifacts, like odx.cs, xsd.cs, btm.cs
    3. Open orchestration and in any one of the expression shape copy all statements.
    4. Click OK to close the Expression window.
    5. Build the solution. (you should get errors)
    6. Goto expression and paste code.
    7. Build
This has worked for me in past. May be it will work for you too.

  • MDM with separated ABAP and Java Instance

We installed SAP ERP system with SRM server and Portal as Java instance.
We use Oracle and have 2 oracle schemas/instances: ABAP and Java.
After mounting of MDM server and DBMS configuraiton (to Java instance) we have the following oracle objects:
    Oracle Schema A2I_XCAT_DBS
2 oracle users: A2I_XCAT_DBS (owner of the schema) and MDMADMIN
2 tablespaces A2I_A2I_XCAT_DBS.DBF and A2I_A2I_XCAT_DBS_IX.DBF within the main dbs directory E:\oracle\<sid>\102\database
The used tablespace was set to PSAPTEMP
    Questions:
    1) How can the DBMS configuration will be removed, because the oralce path  E:\oracle\<sid>\102\database was wrong
Unfortunately we would like to avoid merge MDM and Portal data in one and the same tablespace PSAPTEMP
    2) Where can we find the oracle configuration for MDM with Java Schema, but using their own tablespace?

Are you basically trying to put a new User Interface (UI) on top of MDM because you do not want to use the standard MDM UI?  If so, then yes you could write a custom WebDynpro and use the MDM API.  We evaluated WebDynpro as an option, but instead we built a new Adobe Flex based UI that sits on top of the MDM Catalog and it totally awesome!  There is a sample on our website (www.simplifying-it.net), but we are making some changes to the look/feel... however, the sample demo on the website should give you an idea.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Continuous Integration/Delivery with BizTalk Server

Can anyone point to good information on how to implement real-world continuous integration, and better continuous delivery, with BizTalk server?
    Thanks!

There are some articles that would help you in your quest
    Continuous Integration using TFS -

  • MDM with Web Dynpros

    Hello,
I am new to MDM, Can anybody please let me know how could I use MDM with Web Dynpro's? I have read the article "MDM connectivity to java application" that could be the way to use if the sda are available!
    Regards,
    Dharmi

    Dharmi,
This is excellent, in fact we are also working on a similar scenario. We already have developed some web dynpros which call the API's exposed by MDM and display the data. (Very soon we will write a blog on the same). However the problem is these web dynpro's become very specific with the respository you are dealing with. If that is all you want they that should be fine.
However, if you want to come iViews just like SAP then we mihgt have to think out of the box.
Have you seen the example of Applied.com? the back for these sites is SAP MDM. However these are the J2EE applications which are accessing the API's of MDM and also with other applications for placing the order.
The ideal solution that I can think of is to publish a catalog using MDM API's, give additional functionality of shooping cart, once everything is done, place the order which will create a sales order (SAP R/3 or any other ERP) via SAP XI (SAP EP communicating with SAP R/3 via XI.

  • MDM with BI

    Hi guys,
can any one recommed me the reading material to learn integration between MDM and BI??? Like, guide or some thing where step by step instruction are shown.
    Regards,
    NK

    Hi Naeem,
We generally use MDM as a Data Quality engine in MDM-BI integration to generate accurate and correct reports.
You can integrate MDM with BI in 2 ways:
    1. Using XI to establish communication between MDM and BI
    2. Using MDM ABAP APIs : For MDM SP05 and with above we can use ABAP APIs for integrating with BI.

  • MDM with EP as content manager

    Hi MDM Experts
What is the approach if we want MDM with EP as front end, consider if we need to have Vendor, Customer or Material master with EP as front end and with Create,  Change and Delete options and with workflow capability and what is the process, Do SAP provides standard out of box solution.
    Regards

    Hi Vickey,
You can use the SAP EP as the front end and SAP MDM as the backend if you want to facilitate the Material,Customer and Vendor creation form EP in to SAP MDM.
All you need to do is integarte these 2 systems and you can use the standard MDM iviews in portal to connect and use the MDM functionality in EP like  Create,Modify,Delete etc..
You can also use the MDM workflows as designed in the MDM backend and called on the Portal front end by using the UWL in EP.
Most of these are standard connections however if you want some additional functionalities which MDM does not provide you can use EP customization for it.

  • Best practice or successful deployments of certificates with Biztalk 2013

    Hi,
I am the security resource for our org, not a BizTalk resource.
As an organisation we are deploying BizTalk to work with a number of solutions.  For integrity and confidentiality we would like to use certificates for the BizTalk data flows.  Whilst I've found lots of articles on the BizTalk integration of the
certificates, I'm struggling to find best practice/successful deployment documents on Biztalk+Certificates.
Our BizTalk consultant is requesting that the S/MIME certificates have a group FQDN as the common name; normally an S/MIME certificate has an individual’s email address.  The engineers have attempted to do this using Microsoft's AD services internally
by creating a new template, but as yet have not been successful.
Any assistance or advice would be gratefully received.
    Thanks

To the best of my knowledge, BizTalk does not impose any restrictions on certificate types.
BizTalk uses certificates demanded by the Interface or provider. For e.g.: if consuming a web service over SSL, BizTalk only requires that the certificate be trusted either through a valid trust chain or explicitly. Similarly when required to present a certificate
as part of a interface for purposes of client authentication, the certificate has to be available in the certificate store of the account associated with the BizTalk Host Instance. When exposing services, BizTalk does not care if the certificate used for SSL
is self-signed or SAN based hosted on the NLB or external server, etc.
The reason for asking for a SAN S/MIME certificate for use within BizTalk may be driven from the need to restrict the number of certificates required while accessing multiple e-mail accounts through the BizTalk POP adapter. Since the certificate configuration
is at a port level, each port could technically have different user specific certificates all of which may be hosted under same certificate store. The problem arises if the Microsoft CA is configured in an Active Directory integrated mode where it will not
permit multiple certificates to be issued against ONE Account. If however the CA is deployed in a Standalone mode then multiple user certificates can be issued without any connection to the underlying AD accounts and each can have a different e-mail address
    associated with it.
    Regards.
