MDM with ECC6.0

Hi all,
I know it is possible to access MDM catalogs via ECC6.0 (so without SRM) however my question is whether it is possible to fill certain backend business documents (network, internal order etc.) with content from the MDM internal catalog(s).
We are a utilities company and want to have our internal customers and contractors to plan their materials (so with material nr's) at our warehouse (this is, we want to add extra materials (by using the internal catalog) to networks and internal orders which have automatically been filled by bills of material).
I suppose the challenge in this case is the transfer via the OCI interface.
Obviously this is not a standard process but i would like to know if anyone has any suggestions to help me out, for example by using customer specific enhancements.
And if so, what should be done.....

Hi,
You have two options available:
- Upgrade EP6.0 SP2
- A fresh EP7.0 installation
If it's a fresh installation, you may have to transport the content from EP6.0 SP2 to EP7.0. Please refer to : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/c5/56599164d0c04cb566ba0e2d7ed55c/frameset.htm
And incase you are just upgrade EP6.0 SP2 to EP7.0 then you may access the following link:

Though the portal content in PCD is never lost, just to be on the safer side, you may export all the content in the form of an .epa file and save it to your local machine or any other server before you start an upgrade. The option of saving it to you local machine appears as a link "Download" when you are done with the export. We are building a eREC6 landscape. With below details.
1. EP7 system
2. TREX 7.0 and ECC6 (A+J) on windows 64 bit physical server with MS SQL server 2005.
This is for the eRecruitment 6.0 software solution landscape. This is just for demo and training purpose.
I will do the RFC and HTTP connection between ECC6 and TREX 7.0.
I will connect ECC6 system in portal for Single sign on.
Will you please tel me steps for TREX connectivity with ECC6.
Will you please tell me is there any other specific configuration we need to do for eREC 6.0 configuration in this landscape.
I am having setup guide for ECC6 and TREX 7.0 and even some material for eREC 6.0 but in this they have not given specific detailed document.
If possible please let me know any other steps I need to take for this.

MDM with separated ABAP and Java Instance

We installed SAP ERP system with SRM server and Portal as Java instance.
We use Oracle and have 2 oracle schemas/instances: ABAP and Java.
After mounting of MDM server and DBMS configuraiton (to Java instance) we have the following oracle objects:
Oracle Schema A2I_XCAT_DBS
2 oracle users: A2I_XCAT_DBS (owner of the schema) and MDMADMIN
2 tablespaces A2I_A2I_XCAT_DBS.DBF and A2I_A2I_XCAT_DBS_IX.DBF within the main dbs directory E:\oracle\<sid>\102\database
The used tablespace was set to PSAPTEMP
Questions:
1) How can the DBMS configuration will be removed, because the oralce path E:\oracle\<sid>\102\database was wrong
Unfortunately we would like to avoid merge MDM and Portal data in one and the same tablespace PSAPTEMP
2) Where can we find the oracle configuration for MDM with Java Schema, but using their own tablespace?

Are you basically trying to put a new User Interface (UI) on top of MDM because you do not want to use the standard MDM UI? If so, then yes you could write a custom WebDynpro and use the MDM API. We evaluated WebDynpro as an option, but instead we built a new Adobe Flex based UI that sits on top of the MDM Catalog and it totally awesome! There is a sample on our website (www.simplifying-it.net), but we are making some changes to the look/feel... however, the sample demo on the website should give you an idea.

Standard Screen Element Changes with ECC6.0 in SAP Standard Transactions

Hi,
We have upgraded our system from 4.7 to ECC6.0. I need documentation on all GUI changes with ECC6.0 for all SAP transactions/modules.
I mean, for example, if Sales Order creation screen (transaction code VA01) in 4.7 have say... 12 tabs, then if it has 13 tabs (standard features I am talking) in ECC6.0. I want these kind of additional chnages done to screens like.. adding new menus in menu bar or buttons on tool bar etc.
As we need to educate our users for all the screen related standard chages by SAP because of upgrade.

Ofcouse Nishanth, u need to code in PBO and PAI event.
PAI -> To read the User input and for doing validations or some thing as per ur requirement

Hi,
MDM can syndicate/send Master Data only in XML or Flat files.
MDM puts this file in a particular folder on MDM server by Automatic Process.( or MDM can also send it to anywhere on ur desktop by manual process)
If Biztalk can pick this XML file Automatically then u dont need XI/PI
Otherwise XI/PI can very well pick file from MDM folder Automatically using FTP(File) adapter.

By defaults all modules will be there.You need to configure that in system according to your business requirement .There is no need of any special installation for ps.

Hi,
I would like to compare the 4.6C IMG steps with ECC6.0 to find out any additions/deletions, is there any reports to compare?
I also checked within IMG <IMG Information>, but wanted to check if there are any other options?

MDM with Web Dynpros

I am new to MDM, Can anybody please let me know how could I use MDM with Web Dynpro's? I have read the article "MDM connectivity to java application" that could be the way to use if the sda are available!

This is excellent, in fact we are also working on a similar scenario. We already have developed some web dynpros which call the API's exposed by MDM and display the data. (Very soon we will write a blog on the same). However the problem is these web dynpro's become very specific with the respository you are dealing with. If that is all you want they that should be fine.
However, if you want to come iViews just like SAP then we mihgt have to think out of the box.
Have you seen the example of Applied.com? the back for these sites is SAP MDM. However these are the J2EE applications which are accessing the API's of MDM and also with other applications for placing the order.
The ideal solution that I can think of is to publish a catalog using MDM API's, give additional functionality of shooping cart, once everything is done, place the order which will create a sales order (SAP R/3 or any other ERP) via SAP XI (SAP EP communicating with SAP R/3 via XI.

We generally use MDM as a Data Quality engine in MDM-BI integration to generate accurate and correct reports.
You can integrate MDM with BI in 2 ways:
1. Using XI to establish communication between MDM and BI
2. Using MDM ABAP APIs : For MDM SP05 and with above we can use ABAP APIs for integrating with BI.

You can use the SAP EP as the front end and SAP MDM as the backend if you want to facilitate the Material,Customer and Vendor creation form EP in to SAP MDM.
All you need to do is integarte these 2 systems and you can use the standard MDM iviews in portal to connect and use the MDM functionality in EP like Create,Modify,Delete etc..
You can also use the MDM workflows as designed in the MDM backend and called on the Portal front end by using the UWL in EP.
Most of these are standard connections however if you want some additional functionalities which MDM does not provide you can use EP customization for it.

SAP ProductCosting in parallel by plant (same company) with ECC6.0 and EHP5

Hi SAP Community,
I did hear rumours that with ECC6.0 and EHP5 it is possible to execute product costing per plant in parallel, even the plants belong to the same company code. Currently, the lock is on company code level, means if I try to create a second background job with a plant belonging to the same company code, I am getting an error message.
I checked the SAP release notes for EHP5 but didnt find any direct related information.

SAP MII 11.5 Compatibility with ECC6

We are currently using xMII 11.5.6 with SAP 4.7. We are upgrading to ECC6 in the next few months. Are there any compatiblity issues that we need to watch for in this upgrade? We are using the IDOC Listener and JCO interfaces in our Business Logic Transactions.
We also have some Webservices which use the SAP .Net Connector.

Hi Karen - as long as the BAPI's / RFC's produce the same Request/Response XML when called from MII it should be no different than before. Of course you will still probably be testing things accordingly, but the xml exchanges between MII and R/3 should be the same.

SAP GUI 7.10 Compatibility with ECC6 EHP4

My company is on SAP GUI 7.10 Patch 8 and we are looking to install EHP 4 on our ECC6 system. Can someone tell me if we need to apply the latest patch to SAP GUI for EHP 4 support?
Does anyone know if there are known issues with SAP GUI 7.10 Patch 8 and EHP 4 if we do not patch?

How to print true type font in smartform with ECC6

hi,expert:
I want to use true type font "Comic Sans MS.ttf".
I upload this font file by SE73 named ZTT2I.
In SE73.. select the Radio button "Font Families" And click on the "True type Font Installation" button. click the font attribute ITALIC。
Our print device is LP01 and driver is CNSAPWIN
when I create a new style in smartform using the font ZTT, in preview window the font still like other font.
Our system is IDES ECC6, SAP_BASIS SAPKB70014
Now when I create smartfrom in language EN adn logon with language EN,it can print correct style of that font.
But if the smartform is base on language ZH or logon with language ZH, the output is not correct.
why? How to solve it?

Hi,
Is the problem that uploaded true type font ZTT is not used when language is ZH? Did you update the chinese version of the style associated with the smartform? There is a separate style for each language version. So you need to log on in Chinese language and update the style with new paragraph, character formats. Then you need to activate the style and smartform for ZH langauge also.
