MDM-XI-R/3 scenario

Hi,
I have no knowledge of XI. I'm a MDM person.
I'm working on MDM-XI-R/3 integration. The integration between R/3 and MDM has been done.
First XI posts Idoc ADRMAS and then posts Idoc DEBMAS.
We tried sending the data thrice. The first two times ADRMAS was getting posted to the application successfully and DEBMAS was under status 30. It still is under processing.
The third time when i sent it, ADRMAS gave me an error status 51 saying the function module(not sure of the name) is not allowed. the status of the DEBMAS is the same.
Any ideas what is the problem?

  • Central Contract, MDM Catalog, and classic scenario

    Dear SAP experts,
We are in SRM 7.01 with backend ECC 6.05 deploying classic scenario. We are using Central Contract Management in which we negotiate contract in SRM and later distribute it to ECC. We also plan to use SRM-MDM Catalog.
We notice that if we are using classic scenaro, the contract that is used as reference is the contract number in ECC (the one distributed from SRM). So at first we assume that if we want to push the contract data to MDM, we should have pushed the ECC Contract number. However we find out that actually SAP block the ECC Contract coming as distribution from SRM to go to MDM.
Our second option is to use distribution of contract from SRM to catalog. It does using SRM contract number. We create SC and then we pull the catalog item from the catalog (which contain SRM contract number) and then we order. However we end up with 'error in process' in which the system try to create a PR instead in the ECC (meaning that the contract number cannot be read).
We're puzzled with this. How can we use the combination of central contract, MDM catalog and classic scenario? Can we use the combination?
    Best regards,
    John

    Maria
If you want the contracts to be in SRM and do not want them to send to Backend, then check this out.
Create a Vendor list for those items in SRM by assigning the local contracts to the vendors.Activate Vendor list for sourcing.
Then local contract data should pick as SOS from the vendor list.
If you can create contracts in Backend for stock material then SC would pick the backend contract as SOS in classic scenario.
Let me know if the above works or not.
PS : Reward points if helpful.

  • MDM 5.5 SP2 - Scenario Process guide Issue

    Hi,
The scenario process guide on SP2 specifies a transaction MDM_CLNT_EXTR. I checked in my R/3 4.7 system and could n't find this transaction. Can anybody give me more info on this?
    Regards,
    RK

    Hi RK,
the transaction MDM_CLNT_EXTR is part of an R/3 plug-in (PI). This info is contained in the introduction of the MDM 5.5 SP02 Configuration Guide.
Details on the needed PI versions for ERP and R/3 releases can be found in SAP Note 836985.

It will be highly appreciated if anyone of you come up with solutions.
    Points will be rewarded surely.

    Hi,
I guess the Inbound process code must be having different function module.
    The combinations are as follows.
    DEB2 for DEBMAS (module IDOC_INPUT_DEBITOR_MDM)
    CRE2 for CREMAS (module IDOC_INPUT_CREDITOR_MDM)
    BAPI_MDM for ADRMAS, ADR2MAS and ADR3MAS (module BAPI_IDOC_INPUT_MDM)
    MAT2 for MATMAS (module IDOC_INPUT_MATMAS_MDM)
So check in your case is the process code is BAPI_MDM and function module is BAPI_IDOC_INPUT_MDM. You can also see the attached FM for a process code in tcode WE42.

  • Extended Classic Scenario Pricing issue, can I over come by using SRM-MDM?.

    Hi SRM GURU'S,
I am using  ECC 6.0, SRM 5.5, SUS, LAC, cFolders and SRM-MDM with Extended Classic Scenario.
My Question is : In case of Extended classic scenario, there is issue with Pricing and conditions. Is there any possibility to overcome this issue by using SRM-MDM. Or do I have to go for IPC. My client has not brought IPC. I have to cover Pricing with the above components.
Anyone suggest me, how to proceed.  Thanks in Advance. Awaiting for quick response.
    Thanks & Regards,
    John.

    Hi Masa,
We can maintain Price and conditions as a record in CCM for Particular Material or Vendor. When you add that record to shopping cart it will update. I mean, If the provision is available in MDM, I don't want to use the Two components for same functionality.
If I use IPC, Is there separate license for that. What else need to be updated to use IPC (Patches etc).
If you have IPC configuration material, could you please share with me? How to bridge the SRM Conditions and ECC Conditions?
Please clearly give me details.  I really appreciate you.
    Regards,
    John.

  • Complex distribution Scenario using XI: MDM GL Account Custom Repository

    Hi All,
We have a complex Landscape with multiple (4) businesses (multiple R3) instances and most common R3 --> DEV 4 instances with 5 clients each, QAS 4 instances with 2 clients each with some additional clients, PRD 4 instances with a client each and Training 4 instances with 2 clients each in the Landscape along with BW systems.
We are trying to implement standard MDM - XI - R3 distribution scenario. Only difference being MDM Production will be the Master distribution client and have to be distributing to all the R3 clients.
To achieve this syndication is being planned as MDM production to distribute files to 4 businesses to 4 file share folders. These files will be picked up by XI production and will be distributing(Creating IDOCs) on multiple receivers (R3 --> DEV, QAS and PRD) clients of the respective instances.
My question is: Is there an easy way to configure single file to mutiple R3 client IDOC receiver scenario? Also there might be additions and deletions of the R3 clients based on business requirements. Is there any proposed or already implemented procedure to achieve this complex distribution?
Your time and input is appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    -Raj.

    Hi Raj,
You can use the Syndication Server for a automatic distribution from MDM to XI. The recommended way is to distribute one file per target system. This means that you have to create the target systems in MDM and then use MDM Ports to distribute the message. You can configure a communication channel on XI in a way that it loops through your different port folders to pick the message. The you use the Receiver Determination to configure the receivers of your data.
A short question: do you always want to syndicate the data to all of you systems? The you could solve the issue easier: you send one file from MDM to XI using MDSS and a generic port. Then you use the Receiver Determination on XI to distribute the message to all of your target systems.

i imported XSD structure both source and receiver sides. i done disign part...
    Configuration part
i creat business system for both send and receiver. as well as communication channel also.

    what could be the problem...
    suggest me.
    Thanks and regards,
    Kesava

    Hi,
Check the sender service interface category is OUTBOUND or not and which message type is assigned to the sender service interface is it sender message type or receiver message type and  Same as receiver service interface also you have to check.
check the operation mapping  what are service interfaces are assigned.
When we perform any changes to our design objects and configuration objects which were created in our IR and ID and if the changes were not reflected to that objects, at that time every one mind would point to perform the cache refresh. We have different options available to perform the cache refresh.
In IR from MenuàEnvironmentàClear SLD Data cache.
In ID from Menu ClearàEnvironmentàSLD Data Cache.

  • MDM Interfaces

    Hi SAP Gurus,
    I am trying to integrate MDM 5.5 SP02, XI 3.0 SR1, and IDES R/3 4.7 x 200 Enterprise.
1)Now for the flow of idocs I have to mention the interface names in the integration directory (As mentioned in MDM 5.5 SP03 Scenario Configuration Guide Page No.35).But the problem is that I am getting the interface names for the R/3 Business system but not for the MDM Business System. Also the Following interfaces for MDM business system are there in the integration repository along with the software component.
Please Help me .It is urgent.
    Best Regards
    Rahul Pradhan

    Hi Rahul,
first you DO NOT NEED to create the SAP SWC for MDM. The only way to get SAP software components is by importing the CIM content.
Have a look here how to import CIM Content: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2c/5f7ecd8ddc454ca86ff6e53919b0d1/content.htm
The latest CIM content which will contain the above mentioned MDM products and components are available for download on http://service.sap.com/swdc. Refer to SAP Note 669669 "Updating the SAP Component Repository" for details on what to download and how to proceed for the update.

  • When to use MDM

    Hi! All,
1.I am in  a doubt when to use MDM? If I am having R/3 at all my centres, Do I still need MDM?
2.Is MDM only meant for integrating different ERP Packages?

    Hi Atul,
Regarding your first question, you may visit the link https://websmp201.sap-ag.de/instguidesnw04 and then goto Planning-> SAP MDM -> MDM 5.5 SP03 Scenario description guides. Here you will find the scenarios that can be achieved using SAP MDM.
For second question, MDM apart from ERP integration can also be used for Rich product content management along with all the other scenarios as discussed in the above document.
    Hope this helps.

  • MDM   PostVEE of the Specific IMD should be blank.

    Hi Folks,
I need your help regarding IMD in MDM
There is a scenario where an IMD (initial Measurement data) should be created in Error and then Reprocess it to create the Specific IMD
But the requirement is to make sure, the Post-VEE on the IMD should be blank.
So i want to know what is the data setup/ configuration which can make the post VEE-VEE on the IMD to be blank.

<postVEE> node/group is only populated on VEEREADY state of the Initial Load BO - by D1-PRCLSCIMD algorithm, thus it will remain empty if your IMD instance is still in an error state, i.e. the BO is still an instance of IMD Seeder.

  • Please tell me how to start  MDM

    Hi All,
      I am SAPBI consultant.
I want to move to MDM , please suggest me on this and give me some subject details on this .
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ramesh.

    Hi Ramesh,
It is an good decision you have taken to start learning MDM.
You can go through all the above posts to learn MDM.
Just before you start up you need to know that SAP MDM is a SAP developed tool to manage your master data is an effective way.
It is a configuration driven tool which is absed on C++.so it is very easy to learn and does not require any prerequisties for it so it does not matter from whicf field you have come from.
One very important thing to note here is that this tool is still noy reached its steady state and is developing at every stage with a newer version coming every few months.
However SAP has planned to come out with SAP MDM vs7.1 very soon which is going to be very stable and most of its drawbacks completely eliminated.
Once this tool gains control it will rule the market as .
Data drives Business and SAP MDM drives Data.
As you must be knowing that BI is basically used for reporting purposes. Hence it would be the best if BI reports are acccurate and precise.
Hence There is one scenario that you can focus on at the beginning. This is the Bi-MDM integration scneario. As MDM is used for considating, it identifies duplicates and helps Bi in generating accurate and Consolidated reports.

  • MDM data distribution case study

Hello. I have been looking everywhere for a detailed case study or example of harmonizing MD on MDM and then distributing it to MDCs. Can anyone help me?
I am still unsure of how this should work. It is one thing to normalize and clean data on the MDM, but I am still unsure as to how it is distributed back to the MDCs without compromising the systems.

    Hi Mark,
As an introduction (on a higher conceptual level) to the MDM distribution scenarios, you can also read the MDM Scenario Descriptions. They are at https://service.sap.com/instguidesnw04/ > Planning > SAP MDM > <i>MDM 5.5 SP02 Scenario Descriptions</i>.
As an example, you may refer to the Master Data Harmonization scenario.
    Kind regards,

  • MDM Reference Data

    Hi all,
I have a question regarding reference data in MDM. The business scenario is that we are using MDM to consolidate Master Data for Materials across 3 SAP ERP systems. We are using standard Business Content delivered with MDM for out Repository, which includes all the customizing tables (that are standard in ERP) as flat table lookups.
The question I have is should we:
    1) Populate the lookup tables will all the possible values for each of the 3 ERP system customizing tables.
    2) Do we define a set of consolidated lookup values in MDM first for each ERP customizing table and then value map the legacy value to correct consolidated value on import.
E.G Material Group has Values “Mat1”, “MatGrp1”, and “Group1” across each of the 3 systems. Do we populate the material group lookup table with all these values?
or do we create on value "Mat Group 1" and value map the above 3 values to this new material group value?
How does our decision effect Syndication and/or Central Master Data Management (create and up in MDM Materials for ERP system)?
    All help appreciated!
    Regards
    Con

    Hello Con,
If you have a look at the IDoc / XML messages that are send from one SAP system to another, you'll see that these messages do mainly consist of codes instead of speaking names. so if you plan the syndication / central data maintenance, you must have the correct, remote system dependent keys in MDM!
In your example if you would send Material Group "Mat1" to an ERP system that has code "MatGrp1" for this Material Group, the ALE inbound will fail because it is not able to assign the correct material group.
    Regarding your possibilities:
    1) Is always the easiest way to go. You can load the reference data for all remote systems into MDM. So you can be sure that you have all required keys in MDM. Nevertheless, if you do this, you should have a look at the look up tables after the data load. The reason is that you may have typos in the description of the values, thus you might have entries for "MaterialGroup" and "Material Group". When creating new records in MDM, this can be very confusing. So it makes sense to consolidate the data after the load.
    2) You could do this, too. But in this case, you'd have to do a lot of value mapping during the import. And you have to know exactly which key information belongs to which look up value.
From my experience the first way is the one easier to go. You have the effort only once and you do not have to touch the object import afterwards.
    Kind regards
    Michael
