MDP HDMI on a Samsung 7000 series

I just can not get this to work using a MDP > HDMI cable. I have tried everything I know. Just wondering if anyone has had any success? The computer recognizes the TV, but the TV does not display anything. Thoughts........

Well after talking to Samsung support, they convinced me that the only way to get it to work is through the dedicated VGA port, so I did that and they were correct. The bummer about that is that I have to run a separate audio cable. So I guess in the end I had to use a workaround....kind of a bummer but it works...... Thanks for the input though.

  • 3D Programming and 7000 Series set top box

I want to watch ESPN 3D but the screens are split on my Panasonic 3D Plasma screen.  It is part of the Ultimate HD package but I have not been able to see it.  The technicians at Verizon give me a different story each time I talk to them.  One of the techs told me I need a 7000 series box to view 3D content.  Can anyone tell me if this is true or give me suggestions to make this work?  I also wonder if I need to connect the HDMI cable from the set top box directly to the tv via a 1.4 HDMI cable without going through my "non 3D capable" receiver or if a 1.3 HDMI cable will work like it does with my Playstation.  Thanks.

I had the same problems. This is what you need to do if you haven't tried it yet. EPSN 3D broadcasts in 720P, so you have to go to settings and change your video settings to 720P, my guess is you probably have it set to 1080i. After setting it to 720p, then set your TV 3D setting to top and bottom and it should merge the picture. I would set the setting back to 1080i when you are done with watching the channel, the movies on demand I believe are 1080i and 3D setting side by side. Hope that helps.

  • Dell Inspiron 7000 series dual monitor issue

Today tried to connect Dell Inspiron 7437 to external monitor using HDMI cord; it did not work. I changed setting to external monitor only and now cannot get an image on laptop screen or external monitor when HDMI cord is connected. Tried to restart computer; still goes to blank screen as soon as I plug in HDMI.
    1. How to a return to default setting for laptop display so it's only set to laptop?
    2. Is it possible to connect inspiron 7000 to external monitor with hdmi?
    Thank you

    Hello,
Yes, it is possible to connect the Inspiron 7000 series to an external monitor using an HDMI cable.  Normally you can control how the video is displayed by using the <FN>+<F8> key combination.  Normally your options are LCD only, duplicate display on the LCD & the external monitor, or just display on the external monitor (projector mode).  Try that key combination to see if you can toggle between the available displays.
One thing you also might want to check to see is if that monitor is set to a resolution that your system cannot handle.  Here is a link to the product support pages for the Inspiron 7437, and you will find user manuals on the page that will help explain which resolutions your video card can handle.  You may need to set your monitor back to default settings (see your user manual for that monitor for details) and that should enable your system to send video to it.
Let me know if any of this helps or if you have additional questions.

  • MDP - HDMI Questions and Answers

I recently purchased a 13" Macbook Pro. Love the computer but obviously with a 13" screen I wanted something bigger at home. I had a 32" TV that I wanted to use as a monitor so I purchased the MDP-HDMI adapter. The adapter worked fine but there a couple things I didn't know that everyone should know.
First off, I was told by a salesman at a local Apple store that HDMI would be higher quality than DVI. Upon doing some research I discovered the HDMI and DVI are the exact same thing except that HDMI carries audio while DVI does not.
Second, I asked a salesman at a Best Buy if the MD Port on the MBPro carried audio (if not, why go HDMI instead of DVI)? Since he said it did I went ahead a bought the adapter an HDMI cable only to find that it does not carry audio.
So if you are looking for adapters to buy, make sure that if you do decide to go MDP-HDMI that you also need to figure out your audio. Mini-Toslink - Toslink seams to be the best solution for this. And if you are cost conscious, it appears that MDP-DVI, picture wise, will be equal to HDMI but save you a significant amount of money.
If someone thinks I am wrong about the quality between HDMI and DVI please let me know. My research could be wrong.
    Thanks.

Yes... You CAN get HD streaming... but you will want to get a TV capable of 1080P. Mine was only capable of 720p or 1080i and the resolution was FAR from HD. If you do go 1080p, as I mentioned before, you should be able to use a HDMI cable OR a DVI cable and get the EXACT same resolution. So don't spend $50+ on a HDMI cable unless you truly believe in the power of a expensive cable. I don't. My DVI cable was $10.
    Best of luck!

  • Close MacBook Pro while using MDP- HDMI adaptor ?

I have the Moshi MDP-HDMI adaptor. It works very well and transports audio well too.
I just want to know if it is possible to close the lid of the MacBook Pro while using MDP->HDMI adaptor ? (as in stopping it from going into sleep mode) So that it can be stowed neatly under the display unit when watching movies/presentations etc. rather than the lid having to be open a couple of inches...

That can be done but there are conditions that must be met. For example, the MBP needs to be plugged into its power adapter. And then an external keyboard and mouse are needed. See here:

  • HP 3210 printer to Dell Inspiron 7000 series laptop.

Will HP3210 printer effectively connect to the Dell Inspiron 7000 series laptop?
Older model printer works extremely well.  What portals/connections will be neede?
    Thanks!

The Photosmart 3210 can connect either with a USB cable or a network cable.  If you have an available port on your router the network connection may be preferred.
I have a similar setup, the printer is connected to my router with a LAN cable, I access the printer wirelessly from my notebook computer through the router.

  • Elantech touchpad synaptics config -Samsung 7 series etc.

Finally with the 3.2 kernel released the touchpad on my Samsung 7 series 700z5a is recognized as a synaptics capable device.
Xinput reports it as ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad. I'm really happy about this! There is though some problems with the default configuration of synaptics, I have been playing around with them for a bit now and would like to share my findings. And I hope that other want to play around with the settings and share them as well.
Currently I have set these settings, all of them necessary for the touchpad to work at all.
FingerLow: 15  //This sets at which pressure it should no longer be recognized as a movement. Default was 25, at least for me.
FingerHigh: 20 //This sets at which pressure t should be counted as a movement. Default was 30.
TapButton1: 1 //Sets which button event should be triggered when tapping the pad with one finger.
These are settings are not fine-tuned, but at least the pad works.
The settings can be set on-the-fly by using synclient, i.e. to set FingerLow to 15:
    $ synclient FingerLow=15
Execute synclient without parameters to see a list of current configuration and with -m <interval in ms> to see what the touhpad registers.

It should work properly. One correction it should be switch not router. We have used the same.

  • ATI Radeon 7000 series and Photoshop CS5 and CS6

Interesting to note, Running windows 7 64bit I have bought a new graphics card, it is an ATI Radeon HD7900 bought to run Photoshop CS5 and 6 unfortunately the graphics card is not displayed in the photoshop prefrences, I checked the list of cards supported by Adobe and the Radeon 7000 series was listed.....I rang Adobe who states that the HD7000 is not supported, so until (if ever ) it is I cannot use the full functionality of Photoshop CS5 extended. I'm not sure if all the Radeon HD cards are supported or not, but maybe check before you invest in a new card.

The Radeon 7000 series cards should work fine with both CS5 and CS6, but as Steve noted there is a problem with the current drivers for the card.  Until the 12.7 driver is released next month, I'd suggest using the following driver:
    http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst126beta.aspx
Use the control panel on your system to completely uninstall your current driver before installing the 12.6 beta driver.  Please let us know if the beta driver resolves the issues you're seeing.

  • MSI Z77A-G45 and Samsung 840 Series weirdness

    Ok so here's the thing
about a week ago i decided that it was time to build a new computer with a Z77A-G45 motherboard
put it together, installed windows 7 64-bit and everything was working just fine - for about 5 days -
but then one morning when i turned on my computer it decided not to boot and just sat there with fans running with an A2 code at the bottom left of the screen
i tried taking out the ram leaving just 1 in and moving it to different slots and trying a different ram block boots thinking it might be faulty ram,
when that didn't work i tried removing the graphics card and boot with just the onboard VGA, reset the CMOS jumper, and even replaced that battery on the motherboard thinking the shop might have shipped an almost dead one, took everything apart and booted it outside the case on a glass surface to make sure it wasn't some sort of short
but the only time it actually wanted to get past the A2 code was when i booted with only 1 of my hard drives, so  i started changing my drives around using various combinations of SATA cables and ports (luckily had an extra 5 SATA cables lying around)
eventually i narrowed it down to it wanting to boot with 2 of my 3 drives but the 3rd one (a Samsung 840 series 500 GB SSD, that has no system files or anything fancy other then music, movies and a few games at the moment) getting it stuck on the A2 code
so i set it up as an external USB drive with a SATA/USB converter i had sitting around but then it would get stuck on B4 instead if i booted with the drive connected
however everything would work just fine if i connected the drive after the system had booted up (or even just unplugging and replugging it when it got stuck on the B4)
once back in windows with the drive connected i ran all the diagnostics i could think of but nothing showed anything wrong with it
(and the only thing i had done with the drive before it stopped wanting to boot was to defrag it)
eventually i decided to copy all the files from the drive to a different drive and reformat it as sort of a hail-mary
and to my surprise that actually made it boot up just fine
so i moved it back inside the case as a normal drive just to make sure it would still work (which it did) and then moved all the files back to see if any of them were the culprit - that turned out not to be the case however
it booted up without complaint with all the original files on it
so now my question is why?
what the heck is going on?
did defragging cause some sort of data fault that caused the bios to not be able to read the drive properly or did i just buy a haunted computer?
like i said everything is back in the state it was the day before it didn't want to boot and bios and been defaulted so it's not really an issue at the moment but I'd still like to know what's going on so i can hopefully avoid it in the future
any answers or comments will be appreciated
for your reference a full parts list:
    Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G45
    Bios Version: 2.10
    Graphics card: Club3D GeForce GTX 550ti 2GB
    PSU: Corsair TX 950W - 100-240V ~ 12A 50/60Hz
CPU: Intel Core i7 3770K / 3.5 GHz Processor (Stock boxed fan)
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance - 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) - DIMM 240-pin - DDR3 - 1600 MHz ( PC3-12800 )
    HDD: OCZ-Vertex2 128GB SSD (OS)
             Hitachi HDS722020ALA330 2TB HDD (Media/Backup)
             Samsung 840 Series 500GB SSD (Media/Backup)
    OS: Windows 7 64bit Ultimate

    This is strange
I have Z77A-G43, and have exactly the same problem with one 1GB sata drive, that works just fine in every other PC.
In my case PC run into restart loop, but with same code A2 as yours.
Strangest part was PC was restarting even if I put HDD into PCI Sata/Raid card !?
So I am guessing here its not a hardware problem, but a software (BIOS) problem.
Now whole pc with Z77A-G43 is at Service because of faulty DVI output (not working).
Will try reformating drive, but need first to buy >1gb hdd to backup that one
Drive is currently working just fine in this 10y old MSI PC =.=
It seams they have stopped making things as they used to, this old mb is one durrable dog.
which was the main reason I went to same company when in question was mb...

  • Really bad video quality on my Samsung D series 79...

    Hi,
I recently got a web camera for my Samsung D series 7900 LED TV.  I bought the newer VG-STC2000 camera to enable skype.  The good news is the camera seems to work good.  My macbook air which is receiving the video from the camera shows it very well.  (occasional skips and jumps, but nothing too horrible).  The problem is the video that is being received by the television.  While I've verified through computer clients that I can receive video on my home network quite well on a home desktop machine, the skype client on the TV seems to have a lot of trouble rendering a picture about 80% of the time.  I get garbled pictures.  It's almost as if the buffer in the Samsung can't keep up or can't handle network jitter.
here's a sample of what the TV picture looks like most of the time.
    http://www.freeimagehosting.net/tqchb
Areas of movement get distorted.  Any ideas on how to fix it?  Is it a problem with the Skype software?  My network settings?  (I have 30 Mbits down and 5 Mbits up at home through Time Warner Cable).  I have no packet loss, but moderate amounts of jitter when I measure my network with a speed test / voip simulator.

It's 100% reproducable.  It happens typically a minute or two into the call.  If the caller turns the camera off and then back on, the image clears up and then in a minute or two degrades again.  But it happens on every call.
Primary caller has been a Mac (using a macbook air with the built in facetime camera).  Skype version 5.8.0.1027.  The Mac has little trouble viewing the image from the samsung camera.  It skips every now and then, but quickly recovers and the audio has no problems.
I've replicated the error from the mac laptop with the laptop connected to my home network (the same network as the Samsung TV).  Only other variable is that the samsung tv is connected through wifi, but I've seen other complaints that say that hard wiring the tv doesn't seemt to fix it.
The network speed of the mac typically is over corporate lan speeds (can transfer a 6 gig file in about an hour).

  • Don't upgrade to Sun Storage 7000 Series 2009.04.10.2.1!

The latest release of AmberRoad firmware (Sun Storage 7000 Series 2009.04.10.2.1) leads to a performance regression. It's recommended not update at this time. See the Fishworks Documentation for more information: http://wikis.sun.com/display/FishWorks/Sun+Storage+7000+Series+Software+Updates

The last two releases (2009.Q2.2.1 and 2009.Q2.2.0) of the AR firmware show poor iSCSI performance.
I therefor recommend to use release 2009.Q2.1.1.

  • Host based zfs config with Oracle's Unified Storage 7000 series

    Hi all,
It is my understanding that the 7000 storage displays a FC or ISCSI lun to the host. I understand this LUN is a ZFS lun in the 7000 storage, however the host still sees this as only one LUN. If I configure a host based ZFS storage device on top of this LUN I have no host based zfs redundancy. So do we still need to create a host based ZFS mirror or a host based ZFS raidz device when use a 7000 series storage array?
    Thanks,
    Shawn

Many thanks - telling ESX to connect to the 7310's IP address on one of the other subnets DOES appear to work!
My brain must still be addled from some other recent issues we've been having...absolutely no idea why I hadn't tried it already...
I stand by the fact that the BUI is ambigious, however - it still mentions that it's exported on only one of the networks...
    Thanks again...

  • New 256GB Samsung 470 Series SSD Heading My Way

Yesterday, I purchased the above-referenced SSD on Amazon. I am aware that it is a SATA II drive, but its consistent performance is what led to my purchase of the drive.
I believe I have done adequate research on the subject, but I am looking from some confirmation on the following two statements:
    1. Although TRIM support is not enabled in Lion for non-OEM SSDs, the Samsung 470 Series SSDs have built-in TRIM support that operates independently of the OS. Therefore, I don't need to use a program like TRIM Enabler.
    2. The Samsung 470 Series has built-in garbage collection.
Please let me know if both of the above statements accurate, and if there is anything else I will need to know or do (aside from installing the actual SSD).
    Thanks!
    Kyle

I have learned a little bit more over the weekend.
It appears I'll need to enable TRIM support manually. I have read that some people enable it briefly, then disable it. I don't really understand why, however. Nobody seems to have any issues after they have enabled TRIM support.
So, the question is, should I leave TRIM support enabled?
