MDT 2012 - Application Bundle Install Issues- Logged in as Admin randomly between reboots

Hi Everyone,
We are on MDT 2012 / WDS... Moving to SCCM soon but not soon enough.
A new problem started in our environment and I'm not sure if it's a networking, storage, or wds server / settings issue.
The OS deployment happens completely fine, but during the application install phase (Application Bundle) if the application requires a reboot sometimes the deployment does not continue with the rest of the applications, will just stop the process and be
logged in as administrator.
I've checked the normal deployment logs - bdd.log and there is no errors, it shows the last app install but then just drops off. Almost like the machine is not reconnecting to the deployment share to continue installations after the reboot.
This is very random and does not happen on the same app or just one machine model, it's almost like a networking hiccup or something else. The apps exist on the deployment share which is on a 2008 VM with Nas storage.
Any help is appreciated, other logs to look at or if anyone else has seen similar etc...
Thank You!

Thanks for the help guys, I believe I'm all set now. Basically removed the reboot from the problematic app and put the app at the end of the app bundle.
This one was strange... It was the App-V client which I originally did not have a reboot and was the very first app installed in the bundle. With no reboot, I noticed some machines installed the app-v client then would skip all the other apps and move on
to the next phase, which is why I added a reboot.
After adding the reboot I started seeing the problem I posted above logged in as admin. So ultimately removed the reboot and added it as the last app, which seems to be working.
Thanks Again.

  • Oracle Application Server Install Issue

    Gurus,
There were 2 CD/DVDS (media) sent for the Oracle Application Server Install, but the Oracle Universal Installer did not ask for the 2nd CD while doing the Install, is this normal or I am not sure I missed any steps while installing the 1st CD/DVD.
I was waiting that it would ask for the IInd CD/DVD, But it never? but the Install looked clean and exited clean without any error.
    Please advice.
    Thanks
    Sheik

The 2nd disk is Companion CD. It contains the install files for other components.
For instance, If you want to install Oracle HTTP Server only, then you use the companion CD to do so. It has many other individual installations.

  • MDT 2012 - Application installation Problem

    Hi
I have a application called RES (RES Automation manager agent), should install after the OS deployment.
    But this is not happening.
    How can i troubleshoot this?
Is there are any logs to check the reason for not installing the package.
    Please suggest some fix.
Attached the screen shot of the application.

You pprobably need to add the silent switch.
    Try with msiexec.exe /i xxxx.msi /qn
If that does not help you can try to log the msi installation by adding /l*v "logfile.log" , this will create a log file over the msi installation.

  • Mid 2012 mbp bootcamp install issues

I am having trouble installing Windows 7 64bit via bootcamp on my 15' mbp.  I made a usb boot drive and I am able to boot into windows 7 INSTALL, but it asks driver.  There's a browse and a rescan button.  Rescan does nothing.  I have browsed to the bootcamp driver folder and it fails to find anything.  Running through each folder I get the window to populate when I am under INTEL/CHIPSET/ALL folder but nothing will install.  I usually get "No new devices could be found.  Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media."  However, the USB drivers crash the machine.
I am an IT person but this is my first Mac so I am not in my element.  (Actually I just bought a mini as well.)

I think I have similar problem.
I have MacBook pro mid. 2012. And for hole year it was perfect.
But several days ago I noticed some graphic artifacts all over my screen. I rebooted my system - but the problem was still there. I use gfxCardStatus to monitor and control video card status. And I noticed, that that glitch appears only when nvidia adapter is in use. I tried to roll back hole system for one week back with time machine, but no luck...
There's no apple store in my contry (Russia, Saint-Petersburg), but there's several apple authorized service providers. I called them for diagnostic, and they told me, that this is videoRAM problem, and only solucion is to replace motherboard, and it will cost me for something around $1000
Irony is that my year warranty expired just one week before this trouble appears.
So I'm working now only with integrated video

  • Mdt 2012 sp1 command line does not run from task sequence

    Hi,
I am hoping I can explain this correctly.  I am using MDT 2012 and having an issue with running command lines, powershell and batch files that I setup.
The task sequence is set to use an account called "MDTService".  it has rights to join the domain but is not in the local admin group of the reference image.  a domain GPO renames the local admin account CoAdmin.
when running a command line to, for example, run xcopy a folder and subdirectories to the "program Files x86" directory, it does not copy.
When I log on to the system and use an admin account to manually run the command I do not have an issue.  if I log onto the system with the MDTService user and run it, it fails.
How do I get the commands to run from the MDT task sequence?  I do not want to make the MDTService user an admin.  I have tried the run as option in the task sequence but that did not work.  maybe is set it wrong.  I used a domain\Admin
    account which did not work.
what can I clarify or logs can I post to provide more details.
    Thanks in advance.

Any account that needs to add files under %ProgramFilesx86% must be granted administrative privileges.

  • MDT 2012 & Symanted Endpoint Protection & Samba

I have had this problem through all betas of MDT 2012 and it still exists in the final release.
    Conditions:
Windows 7 Professional wSP1 x64 installed using all default settings.
Installing Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 R1
Connecting to any SAMBA computer (specifically Mac OSXS.
If I install the OS using MDT 2012 (there is no issue with MDT 2010) once I install SEP the computer can no longer connect to SAMBA computers. Specifically tested with Mac OSXS but also tested with CentOS. The OS can connect with no issues before installing
but once SEP touches the computer (uninstalling SEP does not fix the problem) it can no longer connect to SAMBA machines. When attempting to connect I get "The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.".
I can not find anything in the documentation or changelog for 2012 that would lead to this issue. Also this is *NOT* a problem with SEP as there are zero issues with MDT 2010.

Spent most of the morning on this but think I have found the answer.
New to MDT 2012 is a feature called "Apply Local GPO Pack". This feature is part of the SystemRestore section of the default Task Sequence.
Following deployment of a computer by MDT 2012, this step is run - and it modifies Security Options in the Local Security Policy. If these same settings are not configured or not defined in your Group Policy (in an AD environment) then the Local Security
    Policy wins.
Specifically there are some options regarding LM and NTLM that get changed and a setting for "Require Secure Communications Always". Both of these settings cause connections to SAMBA shares to be disabled - there are lots of settings that get changed, including
the default cached credential count, which I mentioned.
To disable this from happening when you deploy your images in MDT 2012 you can go into the Task Sequence - right click Properties. Click on the Task Sequence tab and locate the "Apply Local GPO Package" item in the "SystemRestore" section.
Then, click on the Options tab and select "Disable this step".
Alternatively, add ApplyGPOPack=NO to your customsettings.ini
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproinstall/thread/d93ce842-184c-414c-b2c6-bc4a7272d814
Full list of settings changed by this feature available here (see Excel attachment)
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/deploymentguys/archive/2011/12/02/mdt-2012-new-features-gpo-packs.aspx
I don't understand why Microsoft decided to have this set by default in their task sequences. It makes more sense to deploy a default installation of Windows 7 and then have the option of enabling the additional security options.
I hope this helps with your issue or points you in the right direction.

  • GroupWise 2012 Deployment Bundle Issue - Not Installing

    Hello There,
I have an issue to deploy the GroupWise 2012 client via Zen 11.1 (Had no prob to deploy GroupWise 8)
I followed the well-done tutorial from youtube (Novell GroupWise 2012 Deployed Using ZCM 11 SP1 Part 1 - YouTube) or/and the guide (http://www.novell.com/feeds/nih/wp-c...5/GW06_lab.pdf) but it seems that it does not want to work as shown. I googled to see if anyone had the same prob but it seems not to be the case. So I assume I missed something but I do not find the trick.
Everything works until it launches the install.bat as when I get the notification that it has completed the installation the only thing I see is that no GroupWise 2012 is installed at all and that GroupWise 8 has been uninstalled. During the process I see that it copies the first 800 files in Program Files\novell\groupwise but just before telling me that he finished all files are removed. I did not do the step where it should launch GroupWise.
I re-created a bundles and tried to install GroupWise 2012 as GroupWise 8 but it did not work.
It is really frustrating as I really need it to be deployed and that it was meant to be simple.
I would be grateful if anyone could help on that.
    Thank you in advance,
    OAKFND

I don't have GW for any type of testing, but what I would do for testing
    is .......
Replace the Install.bat with just calling CMD.exe
    then from the command prompt
walk through the commands in the install.bat one by one to see what is
    happening............

  • Dell Laptops E7440 & E7240 - Issues with connecting to MDT 2012 deployment share

    Hi,
Good afternoon.Need help on this please
-Test laptops Iam using are 2 * E7440 and 1*E7240. One laptop of model E7440 has our image installed and other two (1*E7440 & 1*E7240) are shipped from Dell with default Win 7 64 bit OS.
-Test desktops Iam using are Dell Optiplex 3020 & Dell 3010 . Both models have our own images of Win 7 64 Bit.
-Laptops and desktops are on same network .
-For OS deployments we have MDT 2012.
-While there are no issues with desktops, all the laptops mentioned above don’t connect to MDT deployments share . The detailed error message I get when I run a litetouch ISO is ‘A connection to the deployment share could not be made. Connection OJ.Possible
cause:invalid credentials. Retry : Try again to connect to the deployment share.’
-Have injected all possible network & storage drivers mentioned by Dell &  Intel into MDT boot image but the problem still persists. Still WinPE doesn’t detect network adapter wherein IPaddresses are not picked in WinPE mode.
-Have been testing each and every driver by manually loading them into Winpe mode to see if they pick up the IP addresses and I finally found one driver by name ‘e1d63x64.inf ‘ which I downloaded directly from Intel website. This one is picking IP Address
in WinPE mode when loaded manually. Also have tested the connectivity to MDT server in WinPE mode with net use command and it was successful.
Have injected this driver into MDT Laptop deployment share, regenerated the ISO and tried again however Iam still unable to connect to the deployment share with litetouch ISO.
The above driver is very much part of set of network drivers on Dell website too.But it doesn’t work.
-Have also tried combination of network & storage drivers from Dell website  (along with the above one mentioned ) injecting them into the MDT laptop boot image but no luck.
-Every time I make changes to drivers in boot image,I update deployment share & recreate boot image .
-This very litetouch iso connects to  MDT deployments share for Dell desktop models 3010 & 3020 but have issues with laptop models E7440 & E7240. This means any connectivity or access issues can be ruled out. Also no problem with our image cause
this happens even with brand new shipped laptops with your inbuild win 7 OS.
-Have tried all options suggested on internet, tested all the drivers suggested but no luck.
-For example I tried latest E7440 netwrok & storage drivers ,Dell Win PE drivers, drivers from Intel website, etc  individually as well as in combinations but the issue persists.
-If you google many express similar issues with these laptop models.
Though I used the drivers suggested by various bloggers, nothing worked for me.
Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I have several E6420, O3010 and since a week also some E7440 and E7240 on site.
I never had issues using the current Dell PE package for MDT.
At the moment my PE contains only the drivers from the Dell PE 3.0 package (WinPE3.0-Drivers-A13-D67JC)
and all my systems mentioned abobe have no issues connecting to the deployment share.
(btw: I have also some older E6400, E6410 and O390 I do no longer support, they
are supported by the pack Dell-WinPE-Drivers-A05.CAB according
to the Dell site, but I just started a deplymenst on a E6410 and is is also workign with just the latest PE pack)
    I'd
suggest you start over with your deplyoment share using at least MDT2012 Update 1.
Create a folder "PE" under "Out-of-Box Drivers" and extract latest Dell PE pack and import he drivers there
Create a selection profile e.g. "PE Drivers" and include just the "PE" folder created above
When configuring the Windows PE  settings of your deployment share select "PE
Drivers" selection profile for the driver injection in the "Drivers and Patches" to keep the PE image free of not needed drives.

  • Windows Vista is not installing using MDT 2012 update 1

I have created a media using selection profile in MDT 2012 update 1, but it is not deploying my physical machine. I get error message that Windows Cannot copy files required for installation. Make Sure all files required for installations are available.
However i have successfully deployed Windows & and Windows XP with MDT 2012.
I also used different iso image of vista but still i get same error message.

Looks like you have a *NEW* issue that is unrelated to this thread. Generally I recommend that you open a new thread.
How to Debug missing Drivers in MDT Litetouch
I see that you say there are *Problems* but you don't list which devices or drivers are missing.
From your Bdd.log file I can see that the following drivers are getting copied locally:

  • WDS & MDT 2012 Integration Questions: Do I need an install image on WDS if I'm multicasting from MDT

I'm running WDS & MDT 2012 on Server 2012 for my deployment solution.  I have a few questions about what happens when you integrate WDS & MDT.
Perhaps this is a simple question, but if WDS multicasts the installation image from MDT, do I need to have an image in the installation folder of WDS?  I have the "Enable multicasting" box checked whenever I update my deployment share
Also, my server is running X64 architecture, so I have the x64 WAIK installed.  but I'm having issues editing the unattend.xml on my server because my images are all X86.  Keeping in mind that I already have the X64 WAIK installed, can i install
the X86 WAIK tools on my server?

Sorry, that's two questions you only get one... Just kidding...
FOr MDT, you don't import the images into the WDS console, you just need to add a Multicast namespace.

AS for the unattend.xml edit issue, that is known:

  • MDT 2012 - Windows ADK Issue

If this is the wrong place, let me first apologize but I am curious is anyone has seen the following issue when installing MDT 2012 Update 1 and Windows ADK:
After installing MDT 2012 Update 1 and Windows ADK, I am unable to create a share in the Deployment Workbench, all I get is the box telling me:
Either the Windows Automated Installation Kit(AIK) or the Assessment and Deployment Kit(ADK) is required for interacting with deployment shares. Please install version 6.1.7600.0 or later.
I setup a new laptop (Lenovo x220 with Windows 7 Pro x64) to use and installed MDT 2012 Update 1 and then did the full install of the ADK (including SQL 2012 Express) and it does not work.
I can open the Windows System Image Manager from the ADK and create a share and do everything without issue but I cannot do anything from the Deployment Workbench as it only says that the AIK or ADK is required.
I tried installing on a Windows 8 Pro  x64 machine as well and get the same error so I am inclined to think I am missing something. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Previously I was able to setup MDT and WAIK on a desktop running Windows 7 as a full blown server was not available and create DVD discs. I was hoping to do the same using a Windows 8 machine. Everything works if I install the WAIK, MDT just does not recognize
the ADK install. I have imaged the laptop several times now with Windows 7 and with Windows 8 and I originally installed MDT first and then the ADK but then found a document sating install the ADK first so I started over and installed the ADK and then MDT
but still get the same result.
I have 2 spare laptops that I wanted to use for testing as I have not bought a desktop in years because I have a NAS device and save most item there so the 2 laptops I have with 4GB RAM and 300GB hard drives can be used to test almost anything. I may
create a VM or Hyper-V machine running 2008 R2 Server to see if everything works in the mean time.
    Thanks.

  • MDT 2012 \ WinPE 3.0 Slow Install Operating System

I have an issue with a custom wim I have incorporated into my Task sequence. When I use a custom Wim, at the point where the MDT Tasksequence begins to "Install Operating System" it slows down to a crawl. What previously took 5-10 minutes on a
previous wim, is now taking 30-50. When the "Install Operating System" task begins, it starts a at a very decent rate, you can see the percentage or time increasing/changing every few seconds with out issue, but when it gets to 30% completion, it
starts to slow down dramatically. Eventually it will get to 100% Completion, where it will stay for the next 5 minutes, at which point it will apply the unattend.xml which will also take a very very long time to complete.
Once it reboots from applying the Unattend.xml everything runs normal.
    My Setup:
    I am using MDT 2012 - with WinPE3.0
To create my Custom Wim I did the following:
I created a brand new standard tasksequence, to deploy an OS to a machine, install updates then sysprep and capture to a wim. I set a custom variable in the tasksequence which set DoCapture=Yes. This allowed me to Capture the Operating system after the windows
updates were done without having to do any additional steps. I then imported the Image into the operating systems section of my MDT Deployment share, and incorporated it into my previous Tasksequence.
I have also noticed that the size of the wim file I created is about 1.5 gigs larger than my previous wim.
    Steps I've Taken for remediation:
I've tried rebuilding my boot.wim several times.
    Increased the scratch size from 32 -> 64 -> 256 -> 512MB
Removed unnecessary drivers from the boot.wim
Any ideas you guys might have with regard to getting my Install Operating System phase to speed up to normal speeds with be greatly appreciated.  Is there an extra step with the install.wim that I importing into MDT that I should be doing?

I completed a robocopy in the full blown OS to download the 4.9g wim, it takes 1 minute and 36 seconds.  It does have gigabit connection active in the full blown os.
When I am running WinPE, Task Manager is showing my local area connection is running at 1Gbps.
Another discrepancy I'm noticing is that @ 12:16:04 [Line1801] the task sequence finishes apply the wim.  It takes 10 minutes for it to start the next task found on Line 1807.  Any Ideas on why it taking so long to apply the  bootsect.exe
    command?
I did disable the "Apply Patches" task, and it did remove 20 minutes by not applying those patches.  Thank you for that suggestion.

  • Past Due - Will be installed issue in SCCM 2012

Deployment of an application task sequence after the initial OS deployment task sequence is working fine, but several application deployments that is deployed to a role collection does not
install even if they are deployed required and deadline is passed. As you can see from print screen all the jobs is received by the agent, so the question is, why do they not start
    installing automatically?
Checked the Computer Agent settings and all the settings were also intact including “Additional Software manages the deployment of application” setting was set to No so there
is something else due to which this is not installing.
Checked in the below post for the same issue
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rslaten/archive/2013/11/26/past-due-applications-not-installing-in-sccm-2012.aspx#comments
as per it issue may be with Incorrect revision number within any of the task sequences
targeted to a machine. Now how do I find the application with the incorrect revision number in any of the task sequences targeted to the machine?
Also not sure how to go about verifying the correct revision numbers in the task sequences if this is the issue in my case
    Please suggest.

Have you checked is there a maintenance window set? - No
Also can they find the content on a DP? Yes
Are the files present on the client in ccmcache? Yes

  • SCCM 2012: Application deployment stuck on 'Waiting to install '

I am setting up many new machines in the last month. But sometimes, when installing applications after rolling out an image. The applications wont install and display the waiting to install message. This mostly last for 1-2 hours but sometimes ever longer.
None of the logs that I have checked seem to give any indication why it will not move forward.  Any
    thoughts on how to troubleshoot?
For what it's worth, we are setup with a standalone primary site with one distribution point installed. SCCM 2012 SP1.
    Thanks in advance.
