MDT 2013 deploying OS from USB Flashdrive failed - need to click OK everytime

We are using MDT 2013 with ADK 8.1 and deploying Windows 7 x64 using media (USB Flashdrive). We can successfully deploy Windows 7 x64b using ethernet cabel but not via USB-Flashdrive. This problem appears on all our HP EliteBook
Series, old as new computers series. We can boot into WinPE 64 bit and start the proper task sequence, all image is applied then after restart, after the logon screen appears there is an error saying that cannot find "USB media?".
But after clicking "OK" it works fine until next reboot, same thing again, but the drive is recognized!
I downloaded all USB drivers from HP website that holds USB 2.0 and 3.0 and drivers that contains open driver files like .inf and .dll files and injected them with the "Profile" that contains all drivers and packages.
It seems like it needs a timeout because of the script is trying to early to find the USB-flashdrive.
Any ideas?
Sorry for language, but you get the Point.
Best regards

Hi,
I would like you to clarify following questions with me:
1. Did you keep the USB plugged in during the restarting?
2. Have you make any task sequence to install applications after log in? If so, have them been installed properly?
Then, please help to collect a boot trace to let me know the details:
How to collect a good boot trace on Windows 7

Please upload them to a file sharing service like Onedrive or "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

  • MDT 2012 deploy OS from USB external drive failed - need to unplug and plug it once again

We are using MDT 2012 and deploying Windows 7 using media (USB external hard drive). We can successfully deploy Windows 7 32 bit using this method but there is a problem with deploying Windows 7 64bit. This problem appears only on HP EliteBook 840. We can
boot into WinPE 64 bit and can start proper task sequence, all image is applied then after restart, before logon screen appears there is an error saying that cannot find litetouch.vbs script. After clicking ok, I can logon to Windows and there is no usb external
drive recognized. But when I unplug and plug usb drive once again it is recognized by Windows and can be used. I can see that Windows install some drivers just after plug it again
I checked BIOS looking for some USB power options - there is no such settings. And 32 bit deployment works ok. So this is not a case. Looks for me like a problem with proper usb drivers for 64 bit. I download all drivers from HP website (driver pack and
drivers only for USB 3.0). We are using make and model matching in MDT - works ok for all the rest hardware models. Any idea how to troubleshoot it?

Not sure what's going on here. Is this a USB "Flash" drive or a USB "Hard Drive". There *Is* a distinction.
I *thought* that MDT would copy itself to the c:\minint\scripts folder to continue installation.
Next time, when you see this error, Press Shift-F10 to get into a cmd.exe prompt. Can you find litetouch.vbs on any of the drives? Does the USB Drive appear?
IF in fact, the USB Drive is not appearing after the 1st reboot, then you have a problem. Why did the USB 3.0 driver not install. Check the Driver Installation Logs to verify.

  • MDT 2013, Deploying Windows 8.1 on Surface and Dell Venue Tablets

I'm having numerous issues with Capturing Images and Deploying to Windows 8.1 Tablets. We are currently using Surface Pro 1, 2, and Dell Venue 11 Pro tablets. I am using a Windows Server 2012 computer with MDT 2013 installed. I can't get the tablets
    to:
1-sysprep and capture using MDT 2013
2-Deploy a Task Sequence with a WIM and other applications attached. (I've tried using the simple standard task seq option with no luck)
3-I found another way to get a WIM (using imagex) but when i deploy task sequence it ignores my selection of applications to install outside the WIM and only installs the WIM (WIM 14gb = Win 8.1 Ent, Office 2013 x32, MS Updates)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Everything is being performed within the LAN and with USB 2.0 thumbdrives for media.

    Hi altimav8,
Are you trying to find out how to deploy Surface Pro method? Before capture the Surface pro image please download the latest drivers for the surface and made sure that they
were the only drivers that were going to be deployed. There have a specific MDT deploy support forum more about the MDT deploy related issue you can ask in MDT support forum.

  • MDT 2013 deploying images

    Hello,
I am having issues with finishing the deployment of my image. Okay, so I downloaded all the drivers and I placed them in the out-of-box drivers in MDT 2013. I updated the deployment share and then I went to WDS and added the new .WIM file with the additional
drivers. I am able to image the computer, but when the computer boots up for me to activate Windows, I skip that because it cannot find the driver.
    What am I doing wrong?

See in your device manager if all drivers are installed. If this is not the case, retrieve the missing driver from looking at the hardware id from the device, and match it against the
pcidatabase.com this should reveal which drivers you are missing.
Import the driver and you are good to go. By the way, updating your deployment share and regenerating your boot images is only necessary when you have modified your bootstrap.ini or have new drivers that need to be embedded in your boot image.
    Cheers!

  • Dart tool not added in MDT 2013 deployment workbench

    Hi, I have MDT 2013 installed, copied tools.cab for Dart 6.5 in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Deployment Toolkit\Templates\Distribution\Tools\x86 and C:\Program Files\Microsoft Deployment Toolkit\Templates\Distribution\Tools\x64 folders. x86 version
can in x86 folder and x64 in x64 folder. However, I don't see dart tools in the WINPE Features packs in the deployment share properties. I need to deploy Windows 7. Can someone suggest what is wrong? I have tried copying the dart tools.cab files for dart 6.5
    7.0 and 8.1 without success.

Finally i fixed it. I created a new deployment share and the dart components appeared in winpe feature packs list but still they did not the appear in already existing old deployment share properties. I check the folders tools\x86 folder and there was
no tools.cab even though i copied the cabs under  C:\Program Files\Microsoft Deployment Toolkit\Templates\Distribution\Tools\x64
folders.  So for some reason mdt was not copying the tools.cab into existing deployment share. I am not sure this is by default or issue with my environment. Anyways, i copied the relevent tools.cab in tools\x64 and tool\x86 folders of existing deployment
share and not am able to see the dart tools in winpe feature packs.

you can surely put those packages onto a removable media & to install those packs with pacman you need to copy those to /var/cache/pacman/pkg directory.
    then just do
    pacman -S package
BTW i burned this package to a dvd (wvdial) and went to my dvddrive and it wasent there:)
can't understand this. might be u r saying that u burned wvdial to a dvd & it wasn't there, so there are chances that that dvd is corrupt or burning didn't happen properly

    -Got a new laptop t135-s1309.
    -works great.
-created recovery media on usb using the creation utility.
-to test recovery media, I ran recovery from the usb media.
-starts and carry's out recovery for a time.
    -then error 10-fc12-0241 is displayed.
-I then recovery from the hidden partition on the hard disk by holding the zero key down during startup.
-this works and the machine is restored.
-by the way i shrunk the 'c' drive to 70 Gb and have a 210 Gb 'd' drive.
-the machine recovers as expected from the hard drive. I use the choice where partitions are not altered.
-I tried two different usb flash drives. One a Kingston 8GB, the other a Dane-Elec 8GB.
-I don't feel there is a hardware problem.
-I want to have recovery media besides the hard drive so I can recover should the hard disk fail or the hidden partition becomes faulty/unusable.

Probably because the recovery program doesn't support USB connected devices.

  • Error corrected import from USB drive fails

When I try to import CD tracks using an external USB CD/DVD drive, it fails if I have error correction turned on.

As it says in the flyer that comes with the program, you do not capture video from a DVD. You rip it from disc.
Place the finalized DVD in your computer's DVD player and then use Premiere Elements' Get Media/From DVD Camcorder or DVD Drive to open the Video Importer. Locate the DVD drive and rip the files to your computer and into your project. (Of course you'll need to ensure your project is set up for Hard Disk Camcorder/720x480 before you begin or you'll have problems with your project later.)
I detail, step by step, how to do all this in my books, if you're interested.

Before you ask, I am still on SP1/CU4 because CU5 and CU6 are so buggy I refuse to install them. And that's probably not the fix anyway... WHEN IS CU7 coming out?

I've seen an official list but, rules that were Edge transport rules are the first ones that come to mind. After the import you can look in the EAC and it should show you any rules that have errors or you can stare and compare the rules to your 2007 environment
to determine if any weren't imported.

  • [Gnome 3] cant print from USB printer, Fail to add new printer

    HI all!
    I installed the following:
    cups
    libcups
    gutenprint
Then add your CUPS server's IP address or hostname into /etc/cups/client.conf, after ServerName. That is all you need. Every application should quickly find the printer(s) shared by that CUPS server.
did not understand what am i suppose to write in the client.conf: 127.0.0.1 or my hostname (thegrid)
it says that later version on cups does not require to blocklist the usblp but i did anyways
    but it didnt work
    i restarted the computer too
    any suggestion

Hi, you can install "system-config-printer" ( i think resolve your issue).
    sudo pacman -S system-config-printer.
I have a Cannon PIXMA 280. My steps to install the drivers( may be help you ) :
$ sudo pacman -S cups ghostscript gsfonts
    $ sudo pacman -S kdeutils-print-manager gutenprint */KDE.
    $ sudo pacman -S system-config-printer gutenprint */GNOME.
    $ sudo systemctl start cups.service

    Hi Mike:
The second chapter of this saga.
I did order the recovery USB.
I did what it was asking and wiped out the HDD clean.
But the system is still unstable.
It took a very long time to configure itself. Several times I had to run the process again because it would either not boot or it would be just sitting there at the attached screen.
Sometimes it would go to Win8 boot window, but then suddenly come back to the same screen.
It seems that HDD is completly out. What is the warranty on the HDD? This laptop is just two years old.
And a side note: we had to send it for repairs twice already for monitor issues; the keyboard is not flat; there are some loose parts inside. I really expected better quality from such a reputable brand as TOSHIBA.
    -Ilya.

  • SOLVED!!! - MDT 2013/Windows 8.1 Sysprep & Capture Fails

I'm running a basic Client Task Sequence that installs the OS, installs a few applications/drivers and then should Sysprep and Capture the image.  Everything works fine until after the Sysprep.  The machine reboots but does not reboot into the
PE environment.  Instead it reboots to the local disc and the machine runs the initial OOBE setup.
My BDD.log file can be found @
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14521312/BDD.log
I see what look like some BCDEdit errors being returned but I'm not sure what they mean.
If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.  I have to get 30 machines out yesterday.
    EDIT:  REPLACED BDD.LOG

Lets try a disk format first.. I still use the old Win98 fdisk utility :)
Wipe all drives clean and then re-run it...
I will do that but is that not already happening at this stage of the Task Sequence?

  • Belle FP2 808 - Charging/USB mount Fail needs Rest...

I have found that once in a while the phone refuses to charge via nokia wall charger or connect via usb to a computer. This is with both official Nokia wall charger and trying a Nokia usb data cable.
The only way to get around it is to restart the phone.
ps. I only have a few normal apps installed. Nothing special or crazy.

Usb mass storage on both Windows 7 and Kubutnu 12.10.  Though usually when I connect my phone to the Windows side it auto connects the Nokia suite anyways.
When this happens the phone just does not seem to recognize that a usb cable is connected. Even the wall Nokia charger. I left the phone charging over night and it did not charge at all. I woke up with the phone almost dead and went to work and plugged in,still nothing. Getting desperate I restarted the phone and it all worked.
