MDT not proceeding to Deployment Wizard after entering credentials on target machine

I have a server configured with MDT 2012 and am using WDS on another server with DHCP and AD to push that out to client machines. Sometimes it works, other times I enter the network credentials into the wizard on the deployment client and instead of saying
'Processing Rules: Default' and proceeding to the task sequence selection, it says 'Initialization Complete'. The window then disappears leaving just the Solution Accelerators background.

Hi,
Please check the logs referred in the following article:

  • "Do not proceed" on filevaulted system after 10.7.2

    Hi all,
I have a Macbook Air (mid-2011) system I use for preproduction testing. Previously, I had installed 10.7.1 and filevaulted the system. Today, after installing the 10.7.2 update via Software Update, the machine booted to the Do not proceed symbol (grey circle slash). As this is a MacBook Air, there's not a really easy way to target disk mode to another machine (this is my only Thunderbolt system). I determined I was able to boot to Verbose/Single user mode by holding the key combination prior to the encryption screen, which provided the following diagnostic output:
    Still waiting for root device
Precisely as expected, based on my previous experience with PGP'd macs.
On PGP, I was able to mount disk0s3 from the another machine's Terminal app, delete boot.efi from the Boot OS X partition, and replace it with a renamed pgpboot.efi. Digging around in a similar fashion with Filevault, I was able to find a similar recovery partition at disk0s3, but no similar boot.efi files for replacement.
Anyone have any thoughts on recover here? No data loss for me on this system, but I just wanted to get this out there for anyone having similar issues.
    Thanks!
    Mike

The above got me oh so close, but I had to do more.
in recovery terminal, I had to dig through the PGP.app to find an uninstall script. From that, I found all the rm statements. In /Applications, do the following find command to see the uninstall script - do not remove via "rm" any of the files yet - move then aside
    find . -name uninstall* -print
    ./PGP.app/Contents/Resources/uninstall_pgp.pl
I moved them aside with the same directory structure that I found them in, in a directories like
    .../PGP-uninstalled/Library/Receipts/...
Then, I rebooted, but still had no joy - stuck at a PGPWDE boot loader error.
Going line by line in the uninstall_pgp.pl script, I took these lines and did them by hand, pulling the required files from my moved aside files ... if they are deleted you are toast, cause I could not find them in the DMG. You could pull them from another machine's install if needed. The key to these lines are that it fixes the boot setup to not have PGP in the mix.
    /bin/cp ./Applications/PGP.app/Contents/Resources/rmbp /Library/Application\ Support/pgpcleanup
    /bin/chmod a+x,u+s ./Library/Application\ Support/pgpcleanup
    /bin/cp ./Applications/PGP.app/Contents/Resources/com.pgp.cleanup.plist /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.pgp.cleanup.plist
Then a rebot via safe mode and it came back up.
All the files referenced in the script:

  • Deploying teststand V3 - mdac98 error on target machine

    Thank you in advance.
I have two PXI computer that I'll like to deploy sequence file to, from a development machine, I have successfully create the installer using tool>>deploy test stand system but I get error message "mdac98" required when I attempt to install it to win98 target machine. I have been to the windows website to download and install "mdac98.exe" but I still get the error.
I have read some literature on this issue but got no where. Out of curiosity what is the different between "disturbing test stand" and "deploying test stand". anyone?

    Rash,
I just answered a question you posted on DCOM that was nearly identical. Are you also having problems with mdac or was this question supposed to be on DCOM?

  • MacAir using AD for authentication. In AD, there is a network home assigned to that user. When logging into that account on the Mac, it takes 1-2 minutes after entering credentials, before displaying an error that it could not connect to it, every time.

In our AD, all users have a network home that is set (smb://home for example). For some of our Mac users using AD for authentication, there is a 1-2 minute delay between entering their credentials and the OS being presented. The OS does not present itself until the user dismisses the alert: "There was a problem connecting to server home".Local users on the same machines do not have that problem.
It remains in the dock as User's Network Home as a ? that I am unable to remove, and there is also a 'Unknown' in the log-in items for the user as well (that I am also unable to remove).
Is there anyway to disable this share? Or to stop the Mac from trying to connect to it before loading the OS?

  • MSTSC (win 8.1) crashes after entering credentials

    Hello,
I need a bit of help here.
I have 2 windows 8.1 pro English, patched to the latest patches and EMET 4.1 with recommended settings, mallwarebites and System Center Endpoint Protection latest version on it) clients members and domain members.
They cannot connect to other machines (server 2012 R2) within the domain and 1 REMOTE machine running windows 8.1 pro pc (not a domain member) using RDP (mstsc.exe) but they CAN connect to a remote server 2008R2 server in the same remote site (not part
    of the domain)
From those same machines I CAN connect to all machines in the domain and remote using the Remote Desktop Connection Manager v 2.2.
From the REMOTE machines mentioned before I CAN connect to the domain servers (win 2012 R2) using the same credentials
So it seems to be caused by something on these machines but I cannot figure out what it is.

I tested with a different win 8.1 client with the same user accounts but that works fine. Unless you have some more suggestions, or anyone else for that matter, I will reinstall the laptops and close this matter.
Thanks so far for your support!

  • MDT Deployment Wizard doesn't start after booting from the LiteTouchPE.iso

    Hello Experts,
I'm using the MDT 2013. When I boot the Physical machine or VM with the LiteTouchPEx86 or x64, I'm not getting the Deployment Wizard. It just stops with a command prompt X:\Windows\System32>. Anyone faced this problem earlier. I searched the Technet, but
    I couldn't find any solutions.
I've done all the possible things which I know. Please help.
    Regards,
    Sukumar. R.

You are getting some kind of crash, or your variables are not setup correctly.
From the command prompt (X:\Windows\System32 ) Run the following command and let us know what the error message is (exactly):
    cscript x:\deploy\scripts\litetouch.wsf /debug:true /debugcapture
It should crash or exit with error error. If it does not crash with a specific line number, then please copy the bdd.log file to a public site like OneDrive and copy the link here.

  • Not able to deploy windows kernel driver on target machine from visual studio

I have created windows kernel driver, and signed it with production certificate. Now I could install this driver on my target machine manually(copying inf, cat and sys).
I want to make use of the visual studio 2013's deployment facility to deploy the driver automatically. But when I try to add the target computer(with administrative account) it failed with error message "The account credentials used to connect to the
target computer could not gain administrator access to the target computer. Try using the built-in Administrator account".
    what possibly could be wrong?

Pavel The host machine is on a domain(say ABC) and I am logged In as the domain administrator. On The target machine I am logged in as the local administrator. Now while adding the target computer from visual studio I am asked for the administrator account
credentials and I am providing the local administrator credentials there.
Pavel I found it is necessary to install "WDK Test Target Setup x64-x64_en-us.msi" on the target machine which I had not run. Once installing that I passed through the previously mentioned steps and after performing few installations target machine
got rebooted. And then the deployment process hanged on step a "Attempting to connect...". Tried this for multiple times but result in to the same problem.

  • I have followed the steps for running exe on target machine but camera streaming did not found yet.

    Install the following run-time engines:
LabVIEW Run-time Engine (same version that was used to develop the VI)
Vision Run-time Engine (same version that was used to develop the VI)
A single-seat Vision Deployment License is required for each target machine on which you install the Vision Run-time Engine. See Related Links for more details.
Copy the following DLLs from your development machine's System Directory, typically C:\Windows\system32, to your target machine's System Directory.
    ImaqDirectShowDll.dll
    ImaqDirectShowExport.dll
Register ImaqDirectShowExport.dll by selecting the Windows Start Menu and selecting Run.
Type in regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\ImaqDirectShowExport.dll and click OK to register the DLL.
If you are on a different OS or if the system directory is different and you want to copy the file path instead of typing the whole path, you can drag the file to the command line in the Run prompt, highlight the path, right-click and select Copy.
Paste in the command prompt window by right-clicking and selecting Paste.
The ImaqDirectShowDll does not have to be registered.
I have followed all above steps ,
Can any one help me for solution ?

My guess is that the driver is missing at the target system.
You can add the driver (part of Vision Acquisition Software) you need (IMAQ, IMAQdx, ..) under the Additional Installers Section of your Build Specification and you will also need a runtime license.

  • HFR Closes Immediately After Providing Credentials

I'm running HFR 11.1.2.736. I installed it and ran it successfully just last week. Go to login now and after entering credentials and clicking to connect, the HFR window login dialogue closes and nothing else happens. Tried restarting Hyperion services to now avail. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

It probably was an installation issue in your case,if in case you see the same behavior on another PC,you can try a couple of things before re-installing FR Studio
1.Run HRRunAnt.cmd, this is under the install/bin folder of the financial reporting studio folder, you can run a search at an OS level to find out the location, run this utility from a command prompt window by cd'ing into the actual location of the utility
2.Check the -Xmx setting associated with HReports in the operating system's registry,a higher value(beyond 256) would also cause Studio to disappear

  • Suppress deployment wizard in remote site mdt 2013

i am getting deployment wizard (welcome screen) even my bootstrap.ini has SkipBDDWelcome=YES.
so i had created mdtdeployment$ share and give all necessary permission. create link in deploymentworkbench to remote share and replicate content.
when i am booting with flash drive, it connects with remote server fine because i ping server and gather.log file has rootdeploy to remote server. but i can't get rid of this welcome screen...any help thanks...
    orion

You need to update the deployment share, and replace the MDT boot image in WDS after making changes to bootstrap.ini (Note: Editing customsettings.ini for this setting is not needed).
Also, offline media (flash drive) has it's own bootstrap.ini, separate from the one in the normal deployment share.

  • When deploy: Wizard error a connection to the deployment share could not be made "check physical connection"

    Hello everybody,
yet another issue with deploying a masterdisk. I will give you a short explanation of the situation.
I need to deploy Windows 8.1 PRO x86.
Using: Microsoft Deployment Workbench Microsoft Version: 6.2.5019.0
    1. Reference PC: Windows 8.1 PRO x86 is installed on ORACLE Virtual Box.
    2.  I installed  MDT on my workstation Windows 7 x64, where "C:\DeploymentShare\Windows8" is located.
    3. To change the Unattended.xml file, I have second ORACLE Virtual Box with
Windows 8.1 PRO x86 with MDT, which connected to the DeploymentShare of Windows 7 x64.
     - The reason is because the Reference PC is x86 and the Unattended.xml file can be changed only if MDT is installed on x86 Windows, otherwise it is not possible.
    The image capture is successful.
Then I create bootable USB device using rufus-1.4.12.exe. I use: C:\DeploymentShare\Windows8\Boot\LiteTouchPE_x86.iso
I use a real PC (not virtual machine) and when the deployment starts
    I see:
1 Welcome screen, where I select: Run the deployment wizard to  install a new operating system.
    2. The next screen is an error screen where I see the error:
    "Wizard error
A connection to the deployment share (\\ComputerName\C\DeployemntShare )could not be made
DHCP Lease was not obtained for any Networking devices!
    Possible cause: Check physical connection
I am relatively new with MDT.
Any suggestions are more than welcome.

    Nick,
    Thank you for the answer!
Yesterday, I figured out that I need to create an offline bootable disk.
The issue is caused, because creating a bootable disk with rufus.exe include only the ISO file and not the WIM file. That is the reason why during OS installation process it asks me for the shared folder...

  • Some clients do not get software deployment, actions missing after OSD

We have Win7 SP1 x64 rollout going on from XP, a refresh scanario on ConfMgr 2012 SP1 non-CU site server. Our testing phase went fine with 100% success, but just before starting rolling, I approved updates November 2013 - January 2014 and did too
quick test. So there was lot of issues, after that I had to disable those patches during OSD and let them be deployed via Software Center, after OSD.
Still, about 10% clients comes out with missing actions in ConfMgr client, or/and do not get desktop deployment software. We have 2 additional apps comming up to to user profile, so after first logon these 2 apps gets installed. And in 10% this does not
    happend.
    - bounderies are fine, client location .log is clear.
    - usually ccmsetup /install -> reboot -> ccmsetup install with MP paraments solves the problem, but not always. It´s also too slow solution
    - I noticed, that in this enviroment, the 3rd scheduled task called "Configuration Manager Maintenance" is missing. I only see Idle and health eval. I had similar case in my lab with R2, and that maintanced task fixed my client with missing in
    10 minutes!
    - our guys who installs Computers, claim that this behavior is seen more with refresh TS rather than with PXE boot - new machine scannario.
    - there are additional role based applications with required deployments, and they do not appear, even if the actions are fixed
Any hints what to do? I would like to avoid upgrading site server to R2 or updating it during active rollout.

Skywalker - I agree, solving Software Updates issues in OSD is a challenge. It´s shooting ducks to figure what KB fix breakes the OSD hook. Recapturing .wim in a middle of a rollout is not the option here, but you´re right. In other side,
if patches breakes OSD during deployment and install software update step, it´s no guarantee the capture will solve your problems. I will check the registery, didn´t know that before. I have my suspesious, that TS might not finnish properly, though there is
no errors. MDT brings lot of more logs and status messages, so solving this isn´t easy.
Torsten - sometimes, waiting for hours, rebooting, killing and restarting prosess isn´t enough. Even if all actions are precent. Also, in a real life users can´t wait for hours. I´m very keen do understand, why there is no 3rd schduled task
    of maintance.

This happened on two different 2008 R2 servers and local windows 7 desktop, SP1 Cumulative Update 1 does not fix the error.
    Please help!

I managed to fix it by modifying the Workaround from Microsoft a bit.
    Microsoft Fix: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2809127/
    Summary of fix:

  • Could not load file or assembly issue with SSAS Deployment Wizard

    Hi
I am getting an error when trying to update 'Data Source Connection Strings' under 'Specify Configuration Properties' of the SSAS Deployment Wizard.
Unhandled exception occurred: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Data, Version=8.0.0.0 ...
Well, it used to be 'version = 10.0.0.0. It changed to version 8 after trying to fix it for hours by googling and so on.
I just can not make it work. I really need to make it work as I need to use the deployment wizard to deploy the project to the production server. (Looks like this is the only way as the server is not part of domain, just a standalone server hosted on a cloud).
on top of my head, I remember installing everything under SQL2012 DVD  D:\redist\VSTA.
Visit Micirosoft site and download components and so on..
I have two other servers, one with SQL2008R@ and SQL2012. Both are ok. But this server which I want to use it as the production server is causing me an issue. ah...  I can not make it work. Please help me!
    Kind regards

    Hi Dustin
You do  not need to be concerned if your app references 32 or 64 bit assemblies. VS being 32 bit, needs to reference 32 bit assemblies in order to compile correctly. Thus running the app from the VS IDE, you wil be using 32 bit assemblies. Using a compiled exe or a DLL, the app will use 32 bit or 64 bit assemblies depending on how the app was compiled and "bitness" of the OS.
E.g;; an app compiled as 32 bit will require 32 bit assemblies
An app compiled as 64 bit will run 64 bit assemblies - on 64 bit OS only.
An app compiled as "Any CPU", will run 32 b it or 64 bit assemblies, depending on the OS. On a 64 bit OS, the app will by definition use 64 bit assemblies (but it is up to you to deploy the 64 bit runtime - not the 32 bit runtime). On a 32 bit OS the app will use 32 bit assemblies.

Why can I not disable the guest user in the 10.8.2 update? I have never enabled the guest user, but after the update, it was automatically enabled with a "managed" tag. It is not selectable even after entering my admin password to unlock the options. I was able to select the account under "parental controls", but again, could not delete it. Why Apple? Why?!!????

SOLVED Ok. I actually was able to disable it. I had to actually log in as the guest user to make it accessible in the preference window. Then I disabled it and logged out. Apologies if this was obvious for some people, but I have had some sort of issue with something every update since Snow Leopard.
