MDT query

Hi,
The "Recovered Adapter Audit Log" in Message Display Tool, seems to display logs only for the current day.
Is there any setting that can be done, for it to display the logs of messages for the last 4 weeks or so?
If not,where else can I get an adapter log for the last 4 weeks?
Regards,
Smitha.

Hi,
I donot have access to visual admin.
Any other suggesstions?
Thanks,
Smitha.

  • How to stop vdbench from external applications? What are the impacts?

    I am using vdbench to test following scenario:
    1) Start vdbench - do read/write (I use poweshell start-process to start vdbench which returns me the process object )
    2) Poll for particualr system event(my test condtion). When the event happens stop read/write ASAP(To stop the process I use powershell Stop-process and pass process object as the argument. This actually stops IO as seen task manger)
    3) Continue testing
    I want to understand
    1) Are the steps followed correct?
    2) What is the correct method to stop vdbench from external application?

    An other thought, that maybe is of interest to you, coming in the next version of Vdbench.
    A conversation with one of my internal users:
    It does not make sense to look at current Vdbench output trying to figure out what is happening when.
    This locks us in to tricks and guessing and prevents me from make changes to the output.
    Monday I will create a new file in Vdbench: status.html
    This file will only be there for any kind of wrappers to see what is going on.
    I'll make sure that the file contents are flushed to the file system as soon as a line of text has been written.
    * Vdbench status
    * The objective of this file is to contain easily parseable information about the current state of Vdbench.
    * This then can serve as an 'official' interface for any software monitoring Vdbench.
    * Each line of output will be immediately flushed to the file system, making its content accessible by any monitoring program.
    * The values below are all tab-delimited.

  • Standard Work Area - Customize Query Functioncode for MDT

    Hi SAP Experts,
    I have a Query in the Standard Work Area and I want to configure it as report in Managers desktop and it should also be shown in the Enterprise Portal. I read the MSS Business Package for this where the steps for configuration are described. For a query I have to build an URL like this:
    "<Work Area><User Group><Query Name>
    A query is identified using these three parameters. If you want to use the query PHONE_LIST from the user group /SAPQUERY/H2, which belongs to the global work area (X), you should enter X*/SAPQUERY/H2/PHONE_LIST in this field."
    I think there should also be a character for the standard work area something like the "X" for the global work area. But I could not find out what it is. So please can you help me?
    Best Regards,
    Nadin

    Hi Deepak .
    It is possible .
    change the structure of the internal table .Add one more column to internal table of the type (structure of ZCAT_CODE ). Lets say the new added column is "col1" . For all the entries of the internal table you can assign the col1  = ZCAT_CODE .
    you can access the details  like this :
    wa_code-col1-text  .

  • SCCM OSD and MDT 2012 - Task Sequence query

    Hi All
    I have single server SCCM 2012 R2 server with MDT 2013 successfully integrated. I'm looking to create a 'Sysprep and Capture' type Task Sequence within SCCM, so that this can be done via PXE rather than SCCM's more manual 'Capture Media' method.  Just
    wondering if anyone has thoughts on this, experience, pointers etc?
    Couple of options that look possible are:
    MDT Toolkit Package - include in SCCM based Task Sequence.  Would it then be fairly easy to mimic ts steps detailed in MDT's existing 'Sysprep and Capture' TS, but within SCCM?
    SCCM TS Steps - I've seen there are a number of TS Steps that look like they may enable OS Capture, but if so, bit confused there isn't more documented \ blogged on this kind of TS, would have thought this was a common requirement for a
    SCCM TS? (TS Steps of interest within SCCM: 'Prepare Windows for Capture' and 'Capture Operating System Image')
    Any assistance much appreciated!
    Kind Regards
    Andrew

    There is a bit of debate about the best way to capture reference images.  Check out this good blog that reviews the options:
    http://www.deploymentresearch.com/Research/tabid/62/EntryId/163/The-battle-begins-Building-the-perfect-reference-image-for-ConfigMgr-2012.aspx
    Having said that, you can certainly create a capture task sequence in SCCM.  If you choose to create a new task sequence,you should see a build and capture option.  Simply create a build and capture task sequence and then remove the build steps.
    You will be left with:
    I've used this method in certain cases.
    Or as you said, if you are integrated with MDT, you can create an MDT task sequence to do the capture or add MDT steps as needed.
    Hopefully that helps!

  • Error while trying to query mbean

    I am getting an error while trying to query MBeans:
    <Mar 27, 2007 4:27:32 AM MDT> <Warning> <JNDI> <BEA-050001> <WLContext.close() was called in a different thread than the one in which it was created.>
    ERROR: Tue Mar 27 04:27:32 MDT 2007MBeanHome being refreshed weblogic.management.NoAccessRuntimeException: User guest does not have access permission on weblogic.admin.mbean.MBeanHome
    Bea doc says that the cause of this error is that the context is closed in a different thread than the one that created it. I have multiple thread that query the mbeans. The code that does the above is in a synchronized block. The code runs fine on some environments. On wls 8.1 it is giving the above error.
    Anyone faced this issue? Any ideas, suggestions?
    thanks a lot
    Jain

    Hi Daniel
    Thanks for your help. Here is some more info.
    I have another application that goes out and tries to get the MBeanHome. Here is the code:
    Environment env = new Environment();
    env.setProviderUrl(t3URL);
    env.setSecurityPrincipal(t3UserName);
    env.setSecurityCredentials(t3Password);
    ctx = env.getInitialContext();
    mBeanHome = (MBeanHome) ctx.lookup MBeanHome.ADMIN_JNDI_NAME);
    This code runs fine in the app. where it is not threaded. But the same code when run in a separate thread is throwing the error. It is happening only in wbl 8.1. In wls 6.1 it runs fine. It is strange. Any clues will be appreciated.

  • MDT Config UEFI Specific disk and partition?

    Installing Win8.1 with MDT2013 on UEFI enabled machines everything seems to be ok.. Until... Injecting drivers. The deployment cannot proceed because of destination disk. Sounds obvious because Uefi makes multiple partitions unlike non-uefi that can be installed
    on the first partition.
    I've created an extra step to the "Format and partition disk" and named it "Format and Partition Disk - UEFI". In this step I've set an option "Task sequence variable IsUEFI equals True". So when it is "True" the step
    will format the drive in GPT (as is required for UEFI boot). This seems to work good. I see in the installation the step "Format and Partition Disk - UEFI" when it's a uefi machine, and the original step if it is a non uefi machine. Obviously the
    original step will have also an option "Task sequence variable IsUEFI equals False".
    The problem comes when we get to the step "Install Operating System". Here I made the same change like I did above. (added extra step with extra option:
    The original step "Install Operating System" will have install location: "Specific disk and partition"
    Disk 0 Partition 1.
    The added step will have install location "Specific disk and partition"
    Disk 0 Partition 3. (Because UEFI has multiple partitions)
    For some reason the deployment will accept the step "Format and Partition Disk - UEFI" but in the install step it will take the "Install Operating System - Legacy" (so it will try to install to disk 0 partition 1 as I see in BCD log).
    Is there any reason that the same condition  works at the format step and not at the install step?
    We choose the option install to "Specific disk and partition" because of problem when have the location set at "logical drive letter stored in a variable" (problem described:
    link)

    Solution in my case was going for the "logical drive letter stored in a variable" instead of "Specific disk and partition".
    Note when applying this: must keep using "OSDisk" variable or it will throw errors (problem described in
    this link)
    So I deleted the "UEFI" steps, and renamed the "Install Operating System - Legacy" to before. Removed the query for the IsUEFI variable. MDT will automatic install to MBR or GPT based on device.

  • MDT 2012 upd 1 and Windows / Component updates

    I am trying to create a deployment for Win 7 x64 in MDT 2012, and it is going quite well.  My problem is with the Windows Update passes -- for some reason it misses many Office and Component updates until I go to deploy.  Then it takes another
    hour to grab and install those.  I don't understand why it does not grab them during the TS process.
    I am doing a staged capture in a VM environment, starting with a zero-touch capture that includes Office 2010 and all the updates.  This is my thin image and it takes about 5.5 hours through capture.  Then I take this thin image, add standard apps
    that cannot be silently installed, customize desktop options that cannot be easily automated (another huge pain, but another topic), and, I was hoping, install all the updates for Office 2010 and other non-OS components.
    In the first TS, I run the updates pre-installation, use the TS step to install Office, and run them again post-installation.  It does pick up a few, but then the logs say the system is fully updated and goes on to the next step.
    In the second TS, I use the post-installation update step.  One of the apps I use installs SQL components, and the TS picks up on this and installs several updates it finds.  Then it decides the machine is up to date and moves on, skipping about
    40 updates as of this writing.
    As a test, I inserted a reboot step between app installation and the post-install Update step, but it still ignored the Office updates.  Research on the issue turned up the idea that at some point ZTIWindowsUpdate turns on the extra updates, and also
    several suggestions that this is how it is supposed to work (and why the standard TS is designed this way).
    I rolled my VM back to the suspended point and I'm running WU manually at the console.  I had to enable "Microsoft Update" manually, and now it is happily pulling down the updates.  I just hope there's enough smarts left in the VM to
    run to  the task to completion.
    I'm hoping that some whiz with the process can enlighten us on how to force ZTIWindowsUpdate to search for critical updates for all Microsoft components, not just the OS ones.
    UPDATE:
    Digging into the code and logs, it seems that a certain condition is not occurring to trigger the Microsoft Update service; bFoundMU must be true for this to happen.  A ServiceID hard coded is not being matched--the reason escapes me.  Near as
    I can tell, after a magic reboot it finally finds a match for this ServiceID.  Hopefully this snippet does not get munged...
        On Error Resume Next
                Item = oFSO.GetFileVersion ( ees("%SystemRoot%\System32\WUAUENG.DLL" ) )
                oLogging.CreateEntry "Ready to Opt-In to Microsoft Update: WUA Version: " & Item , LogTypeInfo
                Set ServiceManager = nothing
                Set ServiceManager = CreateObject("Microsoft.Update.ServiceManager")
            On Error Goto 0
            If ServiceManager is nothing then
                oLogging.CreateEntry "Failed to Create Object: Microsoft.Update.ServiceManager" , LogTypeWarning
            Else
                bFoundMU = False
                For each Item in ServiceManager.Services
                    WScript.Echo "Registered Update Service: " & Item.ServiceID & "   " & Item.Name
                    If Item.ServiceID = "7971f918-a847-4430-9279-4a52d1efe18d" then
                        bFoundMU = True
                    End if
                Next
                oLogging.CreateEntry "Microsoft Update Service:  Enabled = " & bFoundMU, LogTypeInfo
                If not bFoundMU then
                    On Error Resume Next
                        Err.clear
                        ServiceManager.ClientApplicationID = "My App"
                        If Err.Number <> 0 then
                            oLogging.CreateEntry "There was an error getting Windows Update to opt into Microsoft Update. Please verify you are running the latest version
    of Windows Update Agent." , LogTypeWarning
                        End if
    The logs look virtually identical between the two runs.  This is getting way deeper than I understand the update process or about service IDs.
    UPDATE 2:
    Digging further, it seems that the the condition of bFoundMU has no bearing on whether or not MU is used, but possibly the existence of muauth.cab.  From the deploy log where it actually started, bFoundMU is still false, but at that point the Office
    updates started to come in:

    I don't know how, when, or why this happened (why is it in my first DS and not my second?), but a simple test this evening will confirm my suspicion that if the file is not present it will update as expected.

  • How to fail the task sequence if an MDT variable is not populated?

    We are deploying Windows 7 using ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 CU3 integrated with MDT 2012 Update 1 using the MDT database locations table to populate the MachineObjectOU MDT variable.
    Currently the "Apply Network Settings" task will read the MachineObjectOU variable and add the computer account to the OU returned by the MDT database query.  If no value is returned it will not domain join the computer, instead it continues
    the task sequence and configures the machine as a workgroup machine.
    I would like the task sequence to fail if the MachineObjectOU variable is not populated by the MDT database query instead of continuing as a workgroup build.  What is the easiest way to do this?
    Thanks!
    FP

    I agree.
    I would write a script that reads the Variable and checks that it has a valid content.
    If it doesnt i would return an exitcode from my script and have the TS fail on that

  • Adhoc Query on MSS Report

    Hi Experts,
    Would like to know, how to add Adhoc query on MSS reports? Tried to search the thread but couldn't find anything.
    Really appreciate kind guidance on the same.
    Thanks,
    Aashish

    Hi,
    You can remove it by following ways
    Go to SPRO
    Then follow following path
    Integration with Other mySAP.com Components -> Business Packages / Functional Packages -> Manager Self-Service (mySAP ERP) -> Reporting -> Set Up LaunchPad
    and execute
    then you can get the list of the REports
    over there you can see "Birthday List" Report and Deactivate it
    Please execute this steps before the executing the steps i have mentioned above, this will activate the reports used for MSS. Then gofor moving the unwanted reports unactive folder. Just what you have to do it select the unwanted report and move it down to the inactive folder.
    1. In the SAP HCM System choose:
    SAP Easy Access Menu
    Transaction SE38
    2. In the ABAP Editor: Initial Screen enter the Program FPB_LP_WRITE_ENTRIES and choose Execute.
    3. In the Report FPB_LP_WRITE_ENTRIES screen select the MSS Reporting and MSS with Folders options and deselect the checkbox Test Run.
    4. Choose Execute. The sample entries are entered in the Report Launchpad in the portal.
    5. Log on to the portal with User manager1 and check if the sample entries are displayed.
    6. In the ECC system leave the transaction and go back to the SAP Easy Access Menu.
    7. Enter transaction PWPC_CONV_MDT_TO_LPA in the Command field.
    8. In the Report to convert MDT table entries to LPA table entries screen, enter the MDT Scenario RPT0 and deselect the Test run checkbox.
    9. Choose Execute. The list in the next screen shows the reports which have been added to the Report Launchpad.
    Do not forget to select MSS with Folders for the FPB_LP_WRITE_ENTRIES report. Otherwise you may get short dumps while editing the report launchpad, because the reports coming from the Manageru2019s Desktop do not have folders.

  • Using a string variable as a query SQL statement

    I want to construct a custom SQL statement in a string var, then use that var in the cfquery statement.  What is the proper syntax?  Here is my feeble attempt:

        <cfreturn qSBJs>
    I've tried using no " or # or just # or just " but nothing works.
    what about:

    nope.  I wish there was a sql property I could fill *before* the execution of the query.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Adam, and/or anyone who may have a few minutes to check this... I got the following code to work.  It calls the getSBJs function from Flash Builder 4.  I get the correct result set back.  Long table names are replaced with short abreviations.  Note that some local vars are declared but not used in the following example. I will use them in the future versions of this same code.  Since I will in the future, like a donkey, mindlessly use this same method for all my queries, it would be much appreciated if I could get a guru to check this code for:

  • Integrate Sap Query into ESS and MSS

    Hello
    I have been following this http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-50736;IDSactivation=99FDF6E06B5918D0293BF0BE7884FBCB0606A0F376FFD7908517BA7F2738E3A6
    for the intergration of SAP Query.
    However i am getting stuck at step 6 as it appears RP_MSS_CONVERT_MDT_TO_LPD_CUST
    does not exist and ideas what i am missing.
    So i have had to convert my MDT scenario using PWPC_CONV_MDT_TO_LPA
    From there i have then been able to run program APB_LPD_LPA_CUST_TO_LPD_CUST
    which has converted it into a launchpad in LPD_CUST, however once there it has no system alias defined for my applications so they won't launch and the launchpad entries for managers desktop don't give me a system alias option.
    Regards
    Adam

    Hi Adam,
    what release are you on? Do you use any Add-ons? The document you are following is written for EHP6, and I think MSS Add-On 1.0 is also needed as this add-on brings the WD ABAP applications for MSS.
    The report you don't have in your system is located in the WDA specific package for MSS, so I think it comes with the Add-on. The transaction you use for launchpad generation is the "old" one, that can be used from Enterprise Portal. Inside portal, you have a launchpad iView with properties for the scenario and the system alias.
    Do you have a possibility to install MSS Add-On 1.0? This should solve your problem and let you follow the guide.
    Regards,
    Marc

  • MDT 2010 - Can't install OS on disk 1

    Hi
    We are running MDT 2010 SP1 at one of our customers, and having problems with Windows 7 installation on a specific model (Lenovo T440). The model comes with two disks:
    Disk 0 (SSD) - 14GB
    Disk 1 (HD) - 465GB
    Our normal task sequence works fine if a machine only has one disk.
    I want my OS to be installed on disk 1 and disk 0 empty formatted.
    In my task sequence under "New Computer only" I have made two new format steps with a WMI query so it only runs if the machine is a Lenovo T440.
    SSD
    HD:
    And a new step when installing OS with the same WMI query where disk 1 and partition 1 is selected.
    But the task sequence install the OS on the SSD Disk (Disk 0) and fails.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    FC

    Hi Keith
    In my current situation I only have one specific model that comes with a different disk layout, so I don't think I have to do a WMI query for which disk I want to install the operating system on. For this machine model it should always be installed on Disk
    1.
    In my task sequence I already 3 steps that only runs on this model. (based on a WMI query - I query the Win32_ComputerSystem for Model). 2 steps that format and partitions the disks. (Screenshot in my first post) and a step for installing the operating system:
    All steps runs, but the OS still installs on Disk 0. And when I look ind c:\MININT\unattened.xml while the "Install Operating System T440 step runs I see the following:
    <InstallTo>
    <DiskID>0</DiskID>
    <PartitionID>1</PartitionID>
    </InstallTo>
    Could I just set the OSDDiskIndex in my Task Sequence? If yes, where should I put it?
    Regards,
    FC

    You should learn to use makepkg before you start using a wrapper.

  • Permissions within MDT Deployment Workbench

    We are using ConfigMgr with a MDT Integrated task sequence.
    We recently had an issue where a developer made changes to the production role, instead of the development role causing all builds in production to fail.
    Short of telling devs 'dont do that' is there any way to secure what an individual can and cannot edit within MDT?  Ideally we'd have only our validation team able to edit the production roles, with the developers only modifying the non-production roles.
    This is accomplished through scoping in SCCM, but I see nothing similar in MDT.
    Has anyone else successfully implemented something to this end?

    I'm slightly confused. Are you using ConfigMgr for all of your deployments or do you have ConfigMgr as well as an MDT Litetouch environment?
    As you mentioned, ConfigMgr access is controlled with RBAC. MDT Litetouch (standalone) doesn't have anything like RBAC; at best, you would be relegated to looking at security permissions on the deployment share or perhaps setting up a second deployment share
    for non-production tasks.
    -Nick O.
    We are using ConfigMgr for deployment, but storing different load configurations in MDT. The build configuration is populated in MDT, and the task sequences determines which applications to install by querying the role from MDT.
    One role within MDT will be 'finance', while the other will be 'finance-dev'. Unfortunately these are just rows in a database, so I think MDT lacks in any way to limit which items a user can edit.
    Hoping someone can tell me otherwise...
    Will
