Me Account Folders

When adding new folders in Me Account Mail they append at the bottom rather than alphabetize.  Is there a way to set up preferences so new folders automatically alphabetize?

No.
You have to manually order them.

How do I save emails in a specific folder in my Documents, NOT in the email account folders.
    Thx,
    Beginner

Open the email, do a save as have it save to the location you want from the drop down menu (You could select desktop and then drag it into a folder in documents) and click save as a .rtf.
Or you can copy and paste into a document (Word, Pages, Text Edit...) Make a folder and put it in docs.

  • How to Restore Secondary Account Folders in Mail?

A picture is worth a thousand words:
For some unknown reason, the secondary account folders for my wife's account are missing. How do I restore them?

I've just got public folders working in Mail.app with Exchange. Go to your Exchange folders list in the side panel and select Public Folders. Right mouse or ctrl click to bring up Account Info panel.
Select subscription list tab and wait for the list to populate with available folders. Then go through and select only the folders that you want.
    Synchronise and you're done.
If you've ever previously shut off public folder synchronisation by changing permissions drill down into ~/library/mail/Exchange x@x/public folders and make sure read & write is possible.

  • Mail account folders are not synchronized

Mail account folders are not synchronized. How do I do this?

    Ok Istart understing.
There is an issue with icloud Drive, the part called "mail".
I disabled that part and the rules created by experiment were gone.
So I restored my synced rules and smart folders plist in the V2 Maildata folder and all were like before.
So I tried to reactivate the iclodudrive mail part and the problem was again there. The smart folders where gone again and the rules were now mixed with the ones created by experiment.
So I deactivate icloud mail option on my iphone and my ipad, and redone the restore the synched rules and smart folder.
After that all seems to be fine.
Now I have even reactivated the mail icloud option on iphone and ipad.
I suppose is definitely a bug.
I remember that my mac popped up some strange message saying there was a problem with icloud drive.
I will notice if this happen again to see into the log what is telling for real as I suppose that is the cause that messes up my email.

  • Messages from POP account not showing up in IMAP account folders

I've posted on this already, but I'm a little clearer about what the issue is, so I'm gonna try again.
I'm using Mac Mail. Recently my ISP assigned me an IMAP account. [Customer service says "we only use POP," but I can't get a POP account.] Messages in my mailboxes show up fine. I'm having difficulty with the mailboxes directly associated with the account---Inbox, Sent, Draft, etc.
I have only one Inbox. There are three Sent folders---the one that is always at the top of the sidebar, and two in an IMAP-specific set of folders. I coped the older messages from the POP account into what I thought were the corresponding folders of the IMAP account. Copied messages appear only in one of the IMAP Sent folders. However, when opened, they have no content. In some cases there is an indication that the content is "loading" but nothing ever appears.
Is it possible to get the older messages from the POP to show up with content in the IMAP folders? I gather from reading related threads from the archive that copying messages between account types should not be a problem, but it is for me.
    Thanks,

Well, I thought I found a solution in the archives here: Import the old messages from within Mail. Had no doubt that would work. Well, it didn't. Though all the old messages were Apple Mail messages, when I tried to import Mail said, "No valid Apple Mail files were found." Tried importing them as mbox files. Same result.
IMAP has advantages for people who check mail from more than one device, or for multiple users of an account. Not having been forwarned by AT&T that I was going to be switched from POP to IMAP, it has been a big headache for me. And it clutters up the sidebar with a changing collection of folders, including many that seem redundant, and some whose purpose I can't, in my ignorance, imagine.
Supposed to get a call today or tomorrow from a unit in AT&T that is "specially trained" to handle problems like mine. We'll see.
I sure would like to get help from somewhere.

  • Since the last update to v31.0 lots of extra folders have appeared in my account folders with the numbered names like: popstate-6.dat

It just seems to be lots of empty folders, number increased after a restart!

I have changed no settings from the previous version, I have been using Thunderbird for a long time and have never come across this type of folder before but judging from their name, I would say they are a Thunderbird internal maybe temporary POP account related data folder, nothing seems to be in them, but there are more on the busier accounts. I'm using Windows XP if that helps. Somebody must know what these folders are and what generates them, I'm pretty sure it is not user related but rather update related, which seems reasonable.

  • Account folders in mail client?

is there not a way to show the folders from the mail account in mail client?

I spent a few minutes trying to figure out how to display/access those folders on my mail accounts to no avail, hence my asking here.  I'm not computer illiterate or anything, this is just my first Mac.  Anyhow, back to the issue... here is a cropped screenshot of what I'm seeing in Mail:
As you can see, there is no disclosure triangle beside the accounts.  Only beside Inbox, Sent, and Trash.  When I right-click (or Control Click) on a message and hover over "Move To" this is what is visible to me:
If I'm doing something wrong/missing something I would love to know, but as far as I can see and tell... I'm not.

  • Mail 5.1 Multiple Exchange Account Folders

Mail doesn't show me the folder structure of both my Exchange accounts. Which is annoying as all ****.
I have two accounts, Personal and Work, they're both exchange, they both have folders. They'll both show up for <insert random number of days below 10> and then one morning I sit down at my desk and one of them is gone, ususally the personal account.
I've trawled the forum for satisfactory answers to this but cant find any. No matter how many times I add/remove profiles, rebuild mailboxes/indexes, the problem persists. The only way to actually put things in folders? Log into OWA and move them there. Boy is THAT defeating the purpose!
I know Apple has a lot of products to manage now but why - for the love of god - do such critical apps as Mail end up buggy for months on end with no resolution? Lion has been out for a while now, and with it came the new version of Mail. Everyone in the office has complained about it from day one and a few bugs have been fixed with subsequent releases, I eagerly download updates to see if it'll be fixed, but this one is hanging around like a bad smell.
How does one actually affect change these days, it would probably take the guy who wrote the code an hour to figure it out and fix it!?

All you need to do is hold the option key down while you hit create or continue, and it will give you the choices you need to switch from IMAP to POP

  • Retrieving mail from POP account folders

I've kept my mail on the server for a while, and have created folders for different subjects. Now I'd like to keep all my mail on the Mac.
Getting the stuff from Inbox is easy, but I can't find a simple way to retrieve the contents of the folders. Is there a way to get Mail to do this, or do I have to empty each folder into Inbox and then retrieve mail?
    Thanks
    Bob
iMac intel Mac OS X (10.4.8)

If this is a POP account, there is no way for Mail (or any other POP client for that matter) to download your mail from the server other than moving it to the server’s Inbox.

  • Individual mail account folders

    Hi all-
If you open the iPad mail program, hit accounts, then tap on an individual mail account, there are three folders there: inbox, sent, and trash. Is there a way that one can add folders to that list so that you can organize and save e-mails? If there is, I can't figure it out!
    Thanks

    You're welcome.
I'm not aware of any 3rd party email clients.
Even if this were supported with the iPad's Mail client, email account mailboxes and messages are not included with the iTunes sync process and are not included with your iPad's backup, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process.
If the account needs to be deleted and recreated on your iPad, all user created mailboxes would be deleted with the account. When restoring an iPad with iTunes if wanted or needed, all email accounts are recreated and these mailboxes would be lost.
Not so with an IMAP account under any circumstances since all mailboxes and messages are stored on the server. The iPad is not a netbook or a computer replacement and regardless, although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. There is a way to include user created locally stored mailboxes with the email client used on your computer for accessing an account with your computer's backup, but not with the iPad. A POP account is from the dark ages of email account access with a computer or device.

  • Simlinks | Can they point to network account folders (iMovie related)?

Hi everyone. First time posting here, so please be kind. I've done some searches regarding simlinks, and as best as I can tell they are the best solution for changing iMovies default folder. As we already know iMovie 09 only saves to the user account's 'movies' folder, and there really isn't a way around changing the location of this folder through any kind of preference feature in iMovie. So I'm looking at possibly using a simlink. I've never used one before, but I think I can figure it out. Here's my question:
I'm running a lab of Aluminum iMacs, in which my students log in with Network based accounts housed on an x-raid server. I've set up my students so all their work automatically saves to their home folders on the server, and they have no access to the local machine's hard drive. Everything is working great, except for iMovie. I've been reading threads on how people have set up simlinks to point to NAS drives, or an external HD, but nothing about pointing to the home folders of network based accounts. What I would like to do is set up a simlink so when iMovie saves to the iMovie events folder it redirects the save to a users 'movie' folder on their network account. Is this possible? If it is, is it possible to the same folder point to some kind of generic path so it will work on multiple users? Or is there another simpler solution that I'm missing?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

    Hi
On the mac clients you would use Directory Utility (for 10.4) or Directory Access (10.5), they are located in the same place /Applications/Utilities. Launch the application, click the lock to authenticate using the local admin account details and then use the Active Directory plug-in to 'bind' the mac client to the AD Server. Its all laid out in front of you if you click 'Show Advanced Options' button. There is not really much to do on the mac client side other than to make sure you use the correct Kerberos Realm name as well as an AD account that has authority for the domain. Pretty much how well this works is all down to how well the AD is configured. Ideally internal DNS services should not be based around .local. This link will tell you why as well as how to make it work using .local.

There are more links I could post but they will all amount to pretty much the same thing. One important thing to note is time synchronization is crucial for the KDC to grant time-stamped tickets to clients. So make sure the everyone is using the same network time server.

  • Mobile account folders failing to sync

    Hello All,
Having a strange problem with syncing mobile folders on our Mac clients.
We are running an OSX server with Mountain Lion that has open directory on it and this essentially just validates with our Windows domain controller that is using active directory. All of our Mac clients are running Snow Leopard and everything seems to be operating swimmingly except for one issue…
We have mobile accounts set up, so that users can gain access to their Windows based ‘my documents’, ‘my music’ and ‘my pictures’ folders. Everything seems to sync fine except that sometimes when users try to log off, or try to sync their data manually, the process fails. It will either claim that username/password details could not be validated then hang, or it will say that the user’s password has expired and lock them out of their accounts (which we then need to unlock in Active Directory).
After checking the logs on the client machines there are a couple of noteworthy errors:
    SMB_Mount – Mount failed to SMB://Storageserver.co.uk/staff$ - syserr = Authentication error
    And
    SMB_Mount – Mount failed to SMB://Storageserver.co.uk/staff$ - syserr = Unknown Error -5999
It seems to be very random and inconsistent as users can go a week or so without the problem occurring, and then have it happen twice in an hour. Has anyone experienced any issues with mobile accounts syncing?

Address sync with google inly works with 10.6
