ME and Database... It is possible?

Hello,
I tried some example Apps with the micro edtion, but I found not solution to get access to a database to save data. It is possible to get access from ME?
The problem is the a customer entered some data on the PDA an it must save in a persistent way..
Thanks for help.

    Hi Shashikala,
While a database mirroring session is active, the mirror database is in a recovering state and it is not accessible. Thus as Ashwin’s post, backup and restore of the mirror database is not allowed. In addition, you need to note the following things:
•Backup of the principal database is allowed, but BACKUP LOG WITH NORECOVERY is not allowed.
•Restoring the principal database is not allowed.
For more information, you can review this article:

to have a Workspace 'BugFixes' where you fix your bugs without affecting the rest

1 - When you integrate a workspace into the repository it takes all the
changes you have made in that workspace and 'saves' them to the

finished project as well as another project which you make a small but
important change to. The small change must go back because other
developers need the 'fix', but the half finished project will essentially be
'broken' if it is integrated at this stage. Is there any way to integrate
only specific projects? If not, how do you stop the half finished project
being copied into the other developers' workspaces when they do an
    'Update'.
    Hi Forte'rs
I just would like to express my deep appreciation for the way integrating
    workspaces works in Forte.
This makes it a lot safer to work with, because you can only test the
COMPLETE set of code and not just the 'few' changes you just made...
I, at least, always make quite a few changes in a bunch of classes, so it would be
a complete mess to try to sort out which changes to integrate and which to keep
    in my workspace only.
Now I also have been frustrated not being able to make a quick (and dirty) fix - but
in hindsight - it is clear that you cannot be sure that the fix works in the real world
(you know: the stuff outside your own heavily modified workspace).
So while I agree with everyone that got frustrated by not been able to integrate
just a few changes, I am also happy that this is not allowed!

  • Recreate SAP and database services in Windows

    Hi!
I'm running my sandbox in a wmware enviroment and yesterday the C: partion got corrupted and I managed to "save" the other drives where the SAP and database are installed.
Is there any way to recreate the SAP and database services in another Windows installation? (manually or automatically)
That way I don't need to reinstall the whole system....and no there is no backup or snapshot since the system is not complete.
But if I get the database to start I should be able to do a backup and then do a new installation and import the backup!?
    Thanks for any input
    rollo

    What is the database platform?
If it is SQL Server try attaching the data & log files to another instance SQL instance at the same release & patch level, if that works the database is intact so recovery should be possible.
From there rebuild your vmware box and treat the SAP install as though you are doing a 'system copy' so -
      -Install & patch Win2003
      -Install & patch SQL Server
-Install a 'blank' SAP Central Instance & update kernel
      -Attach SQL database
-Use the SAP's SQL Migration tools to prepare DB & instance
      -cross fingers & startsap
      -make a backup
Check out http://servcie.sap.com/instguides for the System Copy guide that matches your release
If that helps please reward points
    Cheers

  • Search static pages AND database tables

    Hi,
I'm working on a project in which I have static content
pages, plus I'm creating a set of dynamic pages that display jobs
and events listings etc. The dynamic pages are going to run off an
    access database.
I'm need to create a search facility on the site. At present
I'm planning to use a drop down box (or radio buttons ?) to allow
the user to select which part of the site to search (main site,
jobs or events), the selection will determine which search page the
form query is passed to (site text search or database query search
    page).
    Am I approaching this correctly.
Can anyone comment on possibly a better or alternative way of
providing such a search option ? (searching both static pages and
    database tables)
    Thanks in advance.

    I guess something like <cffile action="read"
    file="C:\docs\shopping.html" variable="shoppingList">. Is there
a way to do multiple files at once?

data types. Now if the 'Criteria' class is used for attributes in two other
classes (Say "ClassA" and "ClassB"), how can you match these
classes to RDBMS tables? I realise you could explicitly name columns
and attributes in SQL Select, Insert and Update statements, but that
has now defeated the purpose of creating the 'Criteria' class in the first
place. Namely, ease of future maintenance. Am I missing something

    Duncan,
    1. There is no way to integrate a part of your workspace/class and not the other. So, before you integrate you have to make sure that it compiles and also your changes do not break what others are doing when they update. The only way to do it is to export the half finished projects/classes, integrate the good workspace and then import it back and continue your work.
It is important that there is some discipline and lot of unit testing as your application grows bigger and code larger and you go towards deployment. This will reduce the possibility of breaking others code (after you integrate and others update).
    2. From what I have seen, compared to lot of tools Forte goes very far in providing a good and easy mapping from objects (rather object attributes) to table column mapping. All said and done there is a mismatch between pure objects and an RDBMS table. We have to live with it until we get to a stage where we can have OODBMSes which are still in its infancy compared RDBMSes. In forte you can map attributes of an object whose names are same as the column names. Another option is to alias the column names to match the attribute names in the SQL.
Now for my pet discussion of mapping objects to tables - It is easier and simple if you map an object to a table. OO purists might argue with me and say that is not very OOriented. That is right but we are dealing with a mismatch here. It is just that we are impedance matching by trying to persist an object into an RDBMS table. The other possibilities are to map 1 to many from object to a table and vice versa. Choose whatever is right for you. Eventually keep the performance in mind when you choose an approach.
    Hope this helps.

  • Essbase and database in different server

    Hi,
It is possible to put the ESSBASE in one server and database(oracle , SQL Server) in another server? It is possible, what are the things i want to do?
    Thanks,
    PC

    Hi,
Assuming that you've got powerful boxes for this purpose, if you are going to use database server just as a repository database server for say, Planning, then that's fine to have essbase and rdbms on the same server. However, it's not advisable to have essbase on a server where a heavy datawarehouse is co-hosted.

You can use JDeveloper's Data Web Beans - these are data-aware controls for JSPs.
Start by creating a JSP from scratch using the Business Components JSP application wizard. Instructions are in the online documentation, under:
    User Guides
    ->Developing Applications
    ->Developing Web Applications
    ->Creating a JSP application
Or you can learn how to do this by stepping through the Business Components tutorial. The tutorial is also in the online documentation, under Tutorials and Sample Applications.
Once you're more familiar with data-aware JSPs, you can customize a data-aware JSP or create your own from scratch. Instructions for customizing JSPs are also in the online documentation, following the instructions for creating a JSP.

An APEX page can certainly be configured to not require authentication (that's pretty standard for the login/ registration page). There is no need for an "Oracle public password." There are accounts in the Oracle database that APEX uses but that no human needs to know the password for. If that's what you mean by "Oracle public password" then, yes, you do. But that would be the case no matter what authentication and authorization scheme you use in APEX.
A static IP address for your web server is likely a good idea. It's possible to have DNS work with dynamic IP addresses but that's probably not what you want.

a user is a schema and schema is a user. but when this applies to the user that he become a schema, only if he has got some objects. so we can say while creating the user which dosent contain any objects called simple user account but afterwords when he has got an objects then we can say its a schema as the above user has shown you through the exampleIt is just word-play. There is nothing in like a 'status' indicator to say "USER_A is just a user but USER_B has become a schema". Many people use the terms "user" and "schema" interchangeably, and some very good DBAs will insist this is correct. I don't disagree with them even though I usually try to make the distinction.
In a typical application, all of the objects (tables, procedures, etc) that implement the app will be owned by a "application schema owner" - a user which exists for the sole purpose of owning the schema. Said user will have no privileges at all .. especially not CREATE SESSION. Except for possible maintenance activity no one ever actually connects as this user. User accounts are then given to actual humans who connect with their own accounts. The accounts have the necessary system and object privileges granted to them - via a role. One could also create a special account (let's call it APP_ADMIN) that is used for maintenance and batch operations within the application.

    The PJ API mentions:
    "5.22 java.sql
java.sql is an optional package. When a PJAE implementation provides the java.sql package, it must support the full JDK 1.1.8 API of the java.sql and java.math packages."
You could try the classes.jar from the lib directory in the jdk1.1.8 distribution. The generic java only driver you use "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver" may work if you follow the above. N.b. Sun do not recommend this driver in a production environment due to poor performance.

    Hi Paluri
Here is the difference between SAP locks and Database locks, i will try to find the solution to your code.
    Regards
    Ashish
Database Locks: The database system automatically sets database locks when it receives change statements (INSERT, UPDATE, MODIFY, DELETE) from a program. Database locks are physical locks on the database entries affected by these statements. You can only set a lock for an existing database entry, since the lock mechanism uses a lock flag in the entry. These flags are automatically deleted in each database commit. This means that database locks can never be set for longer than a single database LUW; in other words, a single dialog step in an R/3 application program.
Physical locks in the database system are therefore insufficient for the requirements of an R/3 transaction. Locks in the R/3 System must remain set for the duration of a whole SAP LUW, that is, over several dialog steps. They must also be capable of being handled by different work processes and even different application servers. Consequently, each lock must apply on all servers in that R/3 System.
    SAP Locks:
To complement the SAP LUW concept, in which bundled database changes are made in a single database LUW, the R/3 System also contains a lock mechanism, fully independent of database locks, that allows you to set a lock that spans several dialog steps. These locks are known as SAP locks.
The SAP lock concept is based on lock objects. Lock objects allow you to set an SAP lock for an entire application object. An application object consists of one or more entries in a database table, or entries from more than one database table that are linked using foreign key relationships.
Before you can set an SAP lock in an ABAP program, you must first create a lock object in the ABAP Dictionary.

  • Performance with MySQL and Database connectivity toolbox

    Hi!
I'm having quite some problems with the performance of MySQL and Database connectivity toolbox. However, I'm very happy with the ease of using database connectivity toolbox. The background is:
I have 61 variables (ints and floats) which I would like to save in the MySQL-database. This is no problem, however, the loop time increases from 8ms to 50ms when using the database. I have concluded that it has to do with the DB Tools Insert Data.vi and I think that I have some kind of performance issue with this VI. The CPU never reach more the 15% of its maximum performance. I use a default setup and connect through ODBC.
    My questions are:
    1. I would like to save 61 variables each 8-10ms, is this impossible using this solution?
    2. Is there any way of increasing the performance of the DB Tools Insert Data.vi or use any other VI?
    3. Is there any way of adjusting the MySQL setup to achieve better performance?
Thank you very much for your time.
    Regards,
    Mattias

First of all, thank you very much for your time. All of you have been really good support to me.
    >> Is your database on a different computer?  Does your loop execute 61 times?
Database is on the same computer as the MySQL server.
The loop saves 61 values at once to the database, in one SQL-statement.
I have now added the front panel and block diagram for my test-VI. I have implemented the queue system and separate loops for producer and consumer. However, since the queue is building up faster then the consumer loop consumes values, the queue is building up quite fast and the disc starts working.
The test database table that I add data to is created by a simple:
    create table test(aa int, bb char(15));
...I'm sure that this can be improved in some way.
I always open and close the connection to the database "outside the loop". However, it still takes some 40-50 ms to save the data to the database table - so, unfortunatly no progress to far. I currently just want to save the data.
Any more advise will be gratefully accepted.
    Regards,
    Mattias
