  • My imessages have been hacked and recovery email changed and I can't delete it! (with pic)

My iMessages have been hacked and the hacker entered his email as the recovery email with security questions I can't answer. I contacted Apple support and went through the 24 hour process of changing my info so that I could get into the account, but his email address is still the recovery address and it does not give me the option to delete it. I've added alternate emails that can be deleted, but it will not let me change or delete the recovery email. I can change phones and passwords a million times, but if he can just recover my password what am I supposed to do? I have turned iMessage off on my phone (as well as the gps) but I would really like help in deleting that recovery email if anyone has any bright ideas! The pic below shows the only place in all of the settings that his email address shows up anywhere! Any help is very very very appreciated.

    Hi,
I don't think that can be solved by any advice the regular posters could post here.
I would go back to Apple and explain the situation (again).
I would also consider closing the account (Apple rarely seem to do this as accounts are never deleted but just closed).
I understand this may cause issues for things purchased in iTunes and the App Store which my include Restoring the OS at some point.

  • What security does my iPad 2 have? Bit concerned as some of my accounts have been hacked in to. If it has none can anyone suggest any thing

What security does my IPad 2 have if any. Some of my accounts have been hacked. Can anyone suggest anything. Thanks

    Not silly questions at all!
"Safe" is a tricky term. Nobody can ever tell you that accessing websites is 100% safe. Even if you are going through an encrypted site, if you're in a public place, someone could be watching over your shoulder to see you type your login and password.
As you say, the iPad itself is relatively (compared to PCs) secure in the sense that there is no chance of viruses or malware stealing your logins.
But you can take sensible steps to be careful.
If you think you have reason to be concerned about the security of any of the sites you've mentioned, I would recommend you change your passwords. Start with email - if someone else has access to your email, they will often be able to detect and reset any changes you make to other accounts. Then change the other accounts.
Do not use the same password for all your accounts.
Gmail has the ability to use SSL - check in your iPad's Mail settings whether "Use SSL" is ON.
The Barclays app should certainly transmit information in an encrypted manner, so again, provided you have a good password and are cautious about logging in in public view, you're covering your bases.
Finally, let me give you one perspective on computer security that has a lot of truth to it:

my account base been hacked and when I try to reset by email authentication I don't recieve my mail . Can anyone help me?

    Hello deborahmp,
Depending on how you have your Apple ID set up, reset or security related emails may either be sent to your primary or your rescue email address. If you are having issues resetting your Apple ID password, you may find the steps and options outlined in the following article helpful, up to and including contacting Apple Support directly if necessary:

  • My account has been hacked and my credit card charged by the hacker

My account has been hacked and my credit card charged by the hacker and all Skype has to say about it, is that I need to wait 72 hours for them to look at my query? I cannot log into my account. I have filled in the support form, but I haven't received an email notification from Skype that I have submitted it. I'm guessing that's because my account is now in the use of someone else, as the hacker changed the account over to his email address. I know he did that, as I got a notification of changing the email address at the same moment as I was logged out of Skype.  I use Skype professionally and this issue is causing me a world of trouble. The fact that Skype is a paid service ought to mean that there is better support than 'we will look at it within 72 hours.'

So nearly 24 hours later, and still no information either in this forum or via email notification from Skype.  Does this mean that Skype is instead communicating with the person who hacked my account? Since the hacker now has my account registered with their email address, It seems that's the most likely situation, given the unparallelled course of incompetence I'm experiencing from them.  If Skype had taken action on this right away (the moment I made the complaint, which was minutes after my account was hacked) the charge that the hacker made on my credit card would not be lost due to his usage of my account. But apparently, stopping fraud is so low on Skype's agenda that this can go on and on. If I had not been on Skype when it happened (prompting me to instantly block my credit card) there would have been nothing to stop the hacker from making multiple charges to my card, potentially running into the hundreds of dollars.  Instead of action to deal with my problems, I'm receiving notifications that I have earnt 'a new rank' in the Skype community. Whoop-dee-bleedin'-doo!

  • My email account has been hacked and my address book has been used to send unsolicitated emails to all my contacts, how can I stop this activity

My email account has been hacked and my address book has been used to send unsolicitated emails to all my contacts.

    First of all
Run windows in safe mode (with network) and change your password on your email account.
    Then
run several anti-malware programs (there are many free ones, but not all are trustworthy)
    Malwarebyte >> http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
    Microsoft Safety Scanner >> http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
    Windows Defender >> http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/using-defender
    Spybot >> http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
    Kasperky >> http://www.kaspersky.com/security-scan
    Rootkit scanner TDSS-Killer >> http://support.kaspersky.com/5350
And when all is clean, change password for your email account again.

i forgot all the security questions to my icloud account and now my account has been disabled and i want to reset my account ?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6170?viewlocale=en_US
If you can't reset your security questions
Contact Apple Support in either of these circumstances:
You don't see the link to send a reset email, which means you don't have a rescue address.
You see the link to send a reset email, but you don't have access to email at the rescue address.
A temporary support PIN isn't usually required, but Apple may ask you to generate a PIN if your identity needs to be verified.

I have just found out my old skype account has been hacked within the last few days. The hackers added two pakistan subscriptions and my debit card attached to my account was charged $49.99 and $29.99. I immediately cancelled the subscriptions and changed my password. What else should I do, and how do I get my debit card charges reversed? Please help. This is very frustrating. Thank you.

From what I can see, there is no call forwarding set up for your account. No phone number is specified for Skype calls to be forwarded to, nor is there any order in our system for Skype Call Forwarding. So in terms of money, you have not been charged.
What this person seems to have activated in your account is Voice Messaging. He took over your account and recorded a message for Skype users to hear when they try to call your account but you are not available. You can easily deactivate this feature, or just change your personal message, if you follow the steps of this FAQ:
    https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10473/setting-up-and-listening-to-voice-messaging-windows-desktop
    Hope that helped, good luck!

  • My account has been hacked and I no longer have th...

    Hello,
I had an old account with the username rmg185 which tied to the e-mail [removed for privacy]  I stopped using that account, however it appears my credit card is still linked to that account.
Over the past few days there has been over $70 in charges coming from Skype on my credit card.  These are fradulent charges and my problem is that I no longer have Comcast as an ISP so I can't recover my password for that account to get in there and stop someone from charging my credit card..
Is there a way to recover my password or at least freeze that credit card so they can't keep charging to it?  I'd rather not freeze my whole credit card and have to get a new one, changing all of my payment info on tons of sites...  Any help you could offer would be greatly appreaciated.

  • I HAVE been hacked and now I am unsure

I am dealing with an internet stalker who was successful hacking into my mac because file sharing was checked off. I was unaware that I had to actually go in and secure this system. I switched from a PC to a mac last fall and was completely clueless, and this guy was able to hack in, steal passwords, rummage through all my HD, wipe out emails, take over my online community profiles and gosh knows what else. I know this for a fact because he IM'd me on my iPhone the proof then threatened me with a bunch of stuff including messing with my kids.
I have IC3 (internet police) on him but they have not responded to my claim. Until then, I need to know if my computer is safe and unhackable or if he is still rummaging around in my HD. Lately, the computer has been alot slower to boot up, apps are taking longer too and it seems to stick then jump. Since I am new to mac, I really don't know what to do other than hire someone, and right now, I really don't trust anyone near me.
    Any help would be great.

Alot of stuff I cannot do because my ISP account is under roommate's name who is never here.
I cannot recover my system because all the emails to the software I bought and dowloaded were deleted by my stalker.
Get the ISP configuration info from some other source if you can't get if from your roommate, but make sure it is a trustworthy source, such as the ISP itself. In particular, don't fill in any DNS server entries someone has suggested unless & until you can research them & can determine that they are well-known ones. For cable modems, you can generally assume that 'Configure: Using DHCP' is correct & leave the DNS server & Search domain fields blank.
It would help us provide more specific info if you explained how you are connected to the cable modem, like directly to it with an Ethernet cable or wired or wirelessly through a router/gateway device.
Regarding the software you bought and downloaded, you cannot trust any of it as it is now installed on your Mac; in fact one or more of those applications may be the source of your security breach (for instance, a "trojan" pretending to be one thing when it is in fact another). You must only download software from trusted sources, like http://www.apple.com/downloads/ or http://www.versiontracker.com/. Do not click on links in emails (or this or any other web source) to download software without first making sure the actual URL is the indicated one -- if there is any question about it, hand copy the link into a browser window or avoid it altogether.
The least trustworthy sources on the planet are peer-to-peer file sharing ones, especially those offering free or hacked versions of commercial software or entertainment media files. Avoid them.
Most software that requires an activation code allows you to display that code in some 'about' box or preference. Write down all those codes you can find this way (& note the exact form of your name if it is included). Once your system has been restored to its factory state, you can download any software you trust again & use the code to activate it.

  • Some of my accounts have been hacked -- can someone help me?

Hi I am a new MacBook Pro user and am am not especially computer savvy so please bear with me.
Recently both my AIM and Yahoo email accounts got hacked into. Both were sending emails to the people on my contact list with random links.
I do not have AIM installed on my computer -- I was using it through iChat. I rarely use my Yahoo account.
After changing my AIM password, I am now able to get into it. I can also get into my yahoo account.
    I'm wondering:
    1. Are my other accounts (gmail, etc) at risk? Should I worry?
    2. Is there anything I can do to protect myself/check the damage? Or should I just delete these accounts?
After the AIM hack, I called the Apple folks and they said it shouldn't affect anything else because something must have happened through the AIM website/program and not on my actual computer. Now I'm wondering why my Yahoo account was affected too.
    Thanks for any help/advice/insight!

    HI and welcome...
Since this is more of an AIM and iChat issue, try posting in the Snow Leopard Forum
If you access your Yahoo account via Safari, definitely report the problem to Yahoo.
Or should I just delete these accounts?
You can. But post in the Snow Leopard / Mail forum first. The more feedback you get, the better.
