Meaning of DP in Plant Maintenance

Hello Gurus;
What is DP in the definition given by SAP(PSB)?
Thanks & Regards
Hemant
"Technical Objects (CS-BD/PM-EQM)
Purpose
If DP-supported maintenance is to be set up properly at a company, it is necessary to structure the existing technical systems on the basis of technical objects."

hai,
DP supported means "data processing-supported"
ex:ARGUS has developed and successfully implemented an effective DP-supported method for quality assessment.
Normally its a german usage
If useful reward points please...

  • Intercompany Stock Transfer starting from Plant Maintenance

    Dear SAP Experts,
We are planning to implement Intercompany Stock Transfer Process starting from Plant Maintenance side.
We would like to be able to order for maintenance work order material which belongs to different plant.
After adding such material to work order system should automatically create purchase requisition with Item Category U – Stock Transfer.
Such purchase requisition will be then converted to P.O. Then standard MM process will follow meaning on supplying plant side Delivery & Goods Issue will take place. And on receiving plant side Goods Receipt against P.O.
Can you please let me know whether there is standard process which covers what was described above especially part on Plant Maintenance side?
If there is no standard process can you please advise (propose some best practices) how we can realized such request?
    Many thanks in advance.

From memory, with intercompany trading you need to create a PO/PR on Company A and a corresponding Sales Order on Company B.
This can be automated via MM
I would suggest you ask the question in the MM Forum..

  • Settings for costing data in order types for plant maintenance

i want to know the purpose of settings for costing data in order types for plant maintenance. do we need to do it for sure i mean are those settings mandatory to analyze the costs on work order

Yes you need to maintain those settings, as the plant maintenance orders are also considered as cost objects and in order for you to post any cost, you need to have a cost object.  Unless you maintain these settings, the cost you posted cannot be settled to a cost center.
Assign points as a way to say thanks.

  • Urgent Issue in Plant Maintenance Module

    Dear Experts,
We have requirement as described below, please give us your solutions / comments on this.
We have GTC company which is having around 800 trucks for transporting the products. I n this company we have implemented SAP Plant Maintenance Module, as we have the maintenance activities done for vehicles.
Under the same group of companies, we have PM1,PM2,PM3 companies which provide maintenance to GTC. These companies are not external to the group.
When I raise a maintenance order for a vehicle then I will mention hours of work and material that need to be used in the activity. This maintenance work / labour is provided by PM1/PM2/PM3 company.
In plant maintenance we have external service management, but that is for external vendors who provide service to GTC.
But how to handle the same with internal vendors like PM1/PM2/PM3.
Please tell me how to handle this kind of scenario.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
this is a major topic and cannot be covered in a blog. Even if it can it will take a lot of time to clarify. So, first do your checks within your module. Check if u really need to treat the services from the other company as external services. You might as well create workcenters in the plants of the other companies. And make a single maintenance planning plant for all the plants in these companies. This will make a better solution technically. But think also from the perspective of the cost of this solution. Meaning, is it worth doing all the jobs such as maintaining activity prices, work centers in the other plants etc..
In general, my suggestion is include the FI and CO consultants at least in the discussion. It will b good if u can have the MM consultant also during the discussion.

  • Warranty for materials in Plant Maintenance

    Hi Experts
I am trying to explore how warranty could be used for spare parts in PM. I did following and seems that it works the same way as it works for equipment . meaning that it shows a dialog box when creating Notif and order.
    Step1: Create Material Master
Step 2: Create Material Serial Number (Equipment master is created in background)
Step 3: Add warranty information in equipment
Step 4: Create Notification or work order, the warranty information is displayed
My Questions is on Goods movement  and benefit by using serial number. I have created 03 serial numbers (1,2 and 3) by using TX IQ01. I have two cases:
Case1: what are the benefits of serial numbers created above without activating serial numbers in Inventory management.  How it helps in Plant maintenance
Case2; Assming we activate serial number mgmt in IM ( by assigning serial no profile in material master). How does the serial numbers created above (1,2 and 3 by using IQ01) tie to Inventory management serial numbers. When I receive material for a purchase order how the serial numbers  are assigned and tie to serial numbers created by IQ01.
Appreciate your help. Let me know if I am not clear.
    Thanks

  • Plant Maintenance Activities

    Dear Colleagues
We are relooking at the configuration in our SAP PM module. Am particularly interested in going with the best practice in allocating the correct Plant Maintenance Activity types to the correct Work Order Types for both Preventative and Unpreventative/Unscheduled maintenance. What is the conclusive list of activity types and what rule or determination can we make in the assignment of these maintenance types to the order types
    Regards
    Gibson

    Dear,
The advantage of the PM activity types is that, it helps the maintenance department to execute the reports based on PM activity type.Because for some users it may be difficult to execute reports based on Maintenance Order type if you have several types for different plants in same company code.
And also it helps to trigger automatic "PERMIT" for the maintenance order activities if you configure the "PERMIT" system with classification controls.I mean to say is that, you may be using similar maintenance order type for different activities at shop floor. But only few of them needed "Permit" from safety or process department to execute Maintenance work.In such cases it helps engineering team to have automatic assignment of PERMIT  to the maintenance order.
WE can not have bench mark for these PM activity types, as this configuration depends upon the business finally.
You may choose, as follows(This is just example for you):
Preventive Maintenance - Preventive Maintenance activity type
Calibration - Calibration maintenance activity type
Predictive - Predictive Maintenance Activity type
General Maintenance - Shut down and Oppurtunity and Insulation/Cladding and Painting etc...

  • Forecasting in Plant Maintenance Orders

We have a business requirement to forecast using plant maintenance order numbers.  Is there a way that this can be done?
When I look at forecasting I can only see forecasting for cost centers and internal order numbers Transaction codes  are KPO6 and KPF6.  Am I missing something?
Note: I'm guessing this might be a more appropriate place to post - Marilyn

  • Using SmartForm for Plant Maintenance service order processing

    Greetings everyone,
I am working in R/3 4.6C and I have a SmartForm that I would like to configure as a shop paper in plant maintenance and print along with various types of work orders.  However, the config in this area only allows configuration of SAPscript forms with print programs and form routines.
Does anyone know if there is a way to configure or convert a SmartForm so that I can print it as a PM shop paper?
I will definitely reward helpful answers/solutions.
    Thanks,
    Geoff

Thanks for the quick response, Anji.
So just to be sure, there is no way I can configure this form to work with the shop paper config, correct?  If I want something to automatically print with different work order types, I guess I have no choice but to use a SAPscript form with a print program?  I am just not clear on what you mean when you talk about the Z t-code, since I never want to execute this form directly, but always automatically in work order printing from IW32 or similar transactions.
    Thanks..

  • Plant Maintenance Business Content - MTTR and MTBR

    Greetings to all,
Was wondering whether anyone has any idea which standard (international?) SAP is following, when developing formulas to calculate MTBR (Mean Time Between Repair) and MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) in the Plant Maintenance Business Contents.
It will be great help, if there is an indication on this!
    Thks!

    Hi,
Yes, I have seen those notes. But was wondering whether there's a specific international standard that was followed.
    Thks!

    Hi,
I configured default printer in SPRO --> Plant maintenance and customer service --> Maintenance and Service Processing --> Maintenance and service orders --> Print control --> Define printer
I created 2 plant maintenance orders to test the printings jobs.
For 2 different orders, I got the following error message in the printing logs (it's in french): INOPÉRANT (means not working in english). What config should I correct. Could the problem be in the orders? Thanks.

    Hi,
I am not sure but are you trying to print shop papers at default printer specified in config.First thing is are orders released,I presume they are released hence you are getting message.
Next thing is check config as below:
Application area - O for maint orders
Planning plant -  * or define your plant
Planner group - * or same as above
Shop paper - Define shop paper or *
Output device - LOCL or your device property...It is advised to put LOCL as different users can ahave different printers.
Storage mode -1 for printing only
then select print immediately and delete after output.
After this in your master(SU01) define output device as LOCL and this will pick up your default printer of your desktop or working station as configured in windows.
Also check if right shopapers you have assigned to order type, you can confirm them if you see in print preview.
