Measure the Network bandwidth usage

Hi,
For application server, is there any Oracle tool to be used to measure the Network bandwidth usage?

Hi,
The following policies are supported in Window 7
Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Network | Background Intelligent Transfer Services (BITS) |Set up a maintence schedule to limit the maximum network bandwidth used for BITS Background transfers
or Set up a work schedule to limit the maximum network bandwidth used for BITS Background transfers
see this link
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/wmi/archive/2011/02/02/bits-more-flexible-bandwidth-limit-policies.aspx
And download speed is also related with your network connection, your ISP, setting in your router, your system perfrormance...

  • What Is The Network Bandwidth Usage Report?

I'm looking at the "Network Bandwidth Usage" report and it's just a list of devices with no bandwidth numbers?  Is it ordered by amount of usage and if so, why isn't the usage displayed in the report and how do I see the usage for a device?
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

Page 22 of this document will give you some numbers that will allow you to estimate the total data used for a meeting. Keep in mind these numbers are what Adobe saw as average consumption, yours may be higher or lower.

  • Optimize network bandwidth usage in large multi-size corporate environments

SymptomsTo maintain a high protection level, you may notice an increase in bandwidth due to the increased number of updates released per day. Policy Manager Proxy (PMP) installations are especially affected as the additional strain on the likely slower network connection that exists between the remote site hosting the PMP installation(s) and the main corporate site with Policy Manager Server (PMS). The network bandwidth usage can be especially high when computers are turn on on Monday as the update packages accumulate over the weekend.
DiagnosisBy default, the Automatic Update Server (AUS) in PMS calculates byte-level differences for the last five update packages (per update channel). In the event where computers were turned off over the weekend, client machine has missed five updates, and PMS will then download a full update package (Aquarius Windows updates can be approximately 140MB in size). When this happens, network bandwidth usage can be excessively high.
SolutionWe recommend applying the suggested changes on all PMS and PMP systems and all of the F-Secure clients behind PMP installations. This may reduce the update size from 140MB to 10MB. The suggested solution consists of three different changes, outlined below:
    1. Increase the number of byte-level difference files stored by the PMS
    For Windows
To increase the number of byte-level differentials maintained by Automatic Update Server:
Open [F-Secure Installation Path]\FSAUS.PM\conf\server.cfg in Notepad.
Find the key num_old_versions_to_compare, change the value to 50, and save the file.
Restart Automatic Update Agent (AUA) and Automatic Update Server (AUS). In command prompt: net stop fsaua, net start fsaua, net stop fsms, net start fsms.
    For Linux
To increase the number of byte-level differentials maintained by Automatic Update Server:
    Open /etc/opt/f-secure/fsaus/conf/server.cfg.
Find the key num_old_versions_to_compare, change the value to 50, and save the file.
Restart Automatic Update Agent (AUA) and Automatic Update Server (AUS) daemons (root privileges required): #/etc/init.d/fspms restart
The overall disk space requirement for PMS increases. We estimate the disk consumption to increase by 10GB. Make sure the hard disk hosting the Policy Manager Server installation (Program files\F-Secure\Management Server 5\) has enough disk space.
    2. Increase the cache size available on the PMP for storing files
    For Windows
Note: Use the Advanced mode in Policy Manager Console (View >> Advanced mode) to edit the setting.
Go to F-Secure Policy Manager Proxy > Settings > Communication > Cache size.
The default setting is 500. Increase this to 5000 (5GB) and distribute new policies.
Verify the setting on all Policy Manager Proxy systems and adjust the settings, if needed. The setting specifies how much disk space is set aside for storing databases on the Policy Manager Proxy.
    For Linux
As Policy Manager Proxy on Linux is not centrally managed, the change involves modifying a configuration file that exists on the Policy Manager Proxy system locally.
    Open /etc/opt/f-secure/fspmp/conf/proxy.cfg.
Find the key max_cache_size, and change the value to 5000: max_cache_size=5000.
Restart the fspmp daemon (root privileges required): #/etc/init.d/fspmp restart
    3. Adjust the F-Secure Anti-Virus client configuration using Policy Manager Console (PMC) to help prevent clients from immediately falling back to downloading updates directly from the PMS.
In case the client is unable to connect to the Policy Manager Proxy, for example due to high network traffic and multiple downloads taking place, the following setting dictates how soon the client attempts to connect directly to the Policy Manager Server to download updates.
In Policy Manager Console, go to F-secure Automatic Update Agent > Settings > Communications > Policy Manager Proxies > PMP Proxy fallback time.
Default value is zero which means fallback to PMS takes place immediately, in case where Policy Manager Proxy installation cannot be reached. To prevent this from happening, configure this setting to a higher value (suggest 7 hours).
These steps should ensure database updates are only downloaded via the PMP.

  • How can I measure the Graphics Card usage? I.e. percent load

    Hello,
How can I measure the Graphics Card usage, like with the processor in Task Manager, but instead giving a percentage usage for the graphics card instead? Is there an easy way to do this, or would it require a lot of code? Is it even possible?

Ah, so It's unlikely that Java3D will include anything for reading this data then? I was really aiming at measuring the GPU usage under this API which although i have limited knowledge using, I do at least have some knowledge - I wouldn't have a clue how to access any other API's!
I'm using an NVidia TNT2 card at the moment, which is quite old.

There are a number of utilities distributed as part of the Sun<br>

  • Measuring my mobile bandwidth usage

    hi all,
I have just got a Vodafone USB modem for my new macbook which is great (works with OSX fine), however unlike the windows software Vodafone provides there is no way to measure how much bandwidth I have used.
Anyone know of any decent tools for me to install that can measure my bandwidth for this traffic (not one that does all network traffic), I need one that is simple and designed to be like a GPRS meter, like I have on my mobile phone.
    Any ideas?

We don't want you to have any surprise usage charges, gnatty70. Which tablet do you use? Do you ever bring it with you away from home where it may leave the WiFi connection for some time? Do you have Mobile Data turned off on the tablet?

  • What is the actual bandwidth usage?

When I use Adobe Connect I am online and broadcasting for about 4 hours a day, for 10 days at a time. I only do screen sharing and voice -- no video.
I have DSL Internet. The DSL upload speeds are very poor (under 1Mb). To speed things up, I thought I'd look into getting a 4G hotspot, but I'm worried about actual bandwidth usage, since such plans have a practical limit of 5 or 10Gb per month.
My off-hand guess is that If I were to watch a video of myself, I guess it would be a couple of gigs for a four hour, non-HD video. So by that very rough guestimate, I'd hit 20Gb pretty easily over the 40 hours of my meeting. Is that right the way to think about it?
Has anyone monitored actual consumed bandwidth for a simple meeting of one person talking and sharing his screen? I'm not looking for definitive answers -- just some ballpark estimate of what such a meeting consumes each hour...
    Thanks! :-)

Page 22 of this document will give you some numbers that will allow you to estimate the total data used for a meeting. Keep in mind these numbers are what Adobe saw as average consumption, yours may be higher or lower.

  • The network bandwidth for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)

  • Best tool to reduce the network bandwidth for WEBI reports

    Hi Experts,
We have a central BO XI server installed in Head Office. Few users are needed to connet to Head Office from their place (Regions) to access the WEBI reports.
For this we have two options to refresh the report.
              1. BO InfoView
              2. Web Intelligence Rich Client
My question is , which is the best way to reduce the internet bandwidth. Since my users are on remote location and doesn't have good link, which one is the best option to reduce the bandwidth consumtion.
    Regards,
    Suresh

If you're launching Webi Rich Client in 3-tier (ZABO) mode there should be no difference from Infoview refresh, as WRC will utilize same webi report servers for refresh as Infoview does.
If you use 2-tier mode with WRC, then refresh will be local, using local connection to the reporting DB.
I'd say Infoview will be less bandwith intensive and you will be sending only structured and prepared data tot he client browser, not the rough data report needs.
To further decrease bandwith, you can design your server infrastructure to have regional processing, that way most communicatyions with be local and requests go to central location only for main data...

  • Measuring internal network bandwidth

Is there an appliacation that shows the bandwith on a mac network?

Is there an appliacation that shows the bandwith on a
    mac network?
To monitor in realtime the incoming and outgoing bandwidth in each individual mac you can use menu meters
To record incoming and outgoing internet speeds if your router supports snmp you could setup mrtg. Your macs support snmp so you can run mrtg graphs from all your workstations.

  • How can i calculate the bandwidth usage of my Azure subscription?

    Hi,
I know currently there is no API which provide bandwidth usage details. Is there any other way to find out my subscription's bandwidth usage?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Please have a look at below thread.
    Here is a snippet.
The Azure SDK doesn't provide any billing or consumption information programatically. As lgorek stated, you can approximate usage with IIS And WCF performance counters. And you'll also be able to use your own logging to track traffic from different users.
However, you won't be able to track bandwidth consumed when users download content from blob storage. Well, you could, but only if all of your blobs were private and you streamed their content through your web application instead of direct links on your web
    pages .

  • Measure network bandwidth of SQL Server

    Hi everyone,
I'm using SQL Server 2k5. Now I get a request to measure the network traffic of a certain DB. For example, how many GB data are in and out from a DB in 1 hours or longer. Is it possible to use SQL profiler or some other tools to grab the information? Thank
you very much for your time and efforts.
    regards,
    Oliver

    In addition to Shanky's response,
you can use tools like the Wireshark, in order to monitor it. You can use filter like:
    filter capture on port 1433:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireshark
    * Wireshark is perfect to capture the traffic, but it will not tie specific packets to specific queries. for this you should use the combination of profiler as well.
** This is not a recommendation to use specific application or to install anything on production!
If you want to monitor network traffic between web application hosted in IIS and SQL Server, both of which are running on the same server, then the faster and easier way is monitoring the IIS (there is build-in log file that you can use), or from the application
itself. but those options have some limitations. please check this link: http://dba.stackexchange.com/questions/45846/how-do-i-monitor-bandwidth-used-by-sql-server-on-port-1433

  • Disable "Estimated network bandwidth on one of the connections" check

I have several Windows clients that hang at applying computer settings when starting up. All computers that show this behavior have 2 network adapters. One is the physical adapter another is a virtual adapter created by 3rd party software. Virtual Network
adapter always stays enabled (even if you disable it, it comes right back to the enabled state) and has an APIPA address assigned to it. The OS sees the adapter in connected state and attempts to estimate the network bandwidth on that connection,
but since no traffic is being passed through on this link it's  forced to wait for the time out, which causes the delay. So the question is, how do you exclude a specific network adapter from being checked for bandwidth at the OS start
    up?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    >>One is the physical adapter another is a virtual adapter created by 3rd party software. Virtual Network adapter always stays enabled (even if you disable it, it comes right back to the enabled state
Based on the description, it's recommended that we contact the vendor support of the software to see if they can help disable the virtual adapter or provide some suggestions regarding the situation.

  • N/W Bandwidth usage

    All,
I was wondering of there is any documentation around the typical network bandwidth usage by the BOE XI R2 application (InfoView/WebI)? As part of the deployment of some new servers here, before they can allocate us the appropriate bandwidth, the network team wants us to give them some numbers around what are the typical data transfer rates on the network pipe. For this, we have assessed the total number of concurrent users of the application, but there isn't really any way for us to gather the data usage rates.
Does anyone know if the PSO/PG/SC or another group has any information about this - where they may have run tests and gathered results fro typical data bandwidth usage rates when running WebI reports via InfoView?
I know this is a rather unusual request, but we don't have an option - the network team won't move until we have a good backing from the vendor (BOBJ/SAP) about the "recommended" numbers for this!
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Sarang

    Denis,
Thanks for the response! That was my first answer to them also, and something that I have already asked the team to take a look at on our side.
In the meanwhile, I wasn't sure if the PG or PSO runs any benchmark tests every now and then, from data gathered from the the most typical app usage by a group of clients. I remember seeing something in the past about load testing from the PG, but not sure if something like this exists for n/w b/w usage.
I think your idea still is the best starting point, but benchmark results (if any) would be a great help!
