The measure tool does not seem to be like the one in photoshop.
How can I measure an angle between two objects ( forms or else) ?
You know in photoshop you drag the measure tool and then keeping the mouse pressed you alt and go on the othe way.
Thank you,

Nope, the measuring tool does not do arbitrary angles.

  • Measure tool in Photoshop CS6

    why is the unit of measurement displayed when using the measure tool wrong? I have changed it in the units and rulers in preferences but it is still wrong.

    Hello Emma,
    It works ok for me here. Where are you reading the measurement? (Info Panel? Ruler Tool Option Bar?)
    Is your Photoshop up to date?

  • Custom brushes in Flash like Photoshop?

    I just started using Flash for my animations and I want to ask if one can create custom brushes in Flash like Photoshop?
    Also I imported an embeded video avi into Flash and I want to reduce the opacity of the video so I can create a new layer over it and draw over the frames with the video as reference.I dragged the movie into the stage and converted to movie clip and reduced the opacity but its not showing on the stage when I go to the part of the video I want to draw over.
    I use Flash CS3.
    BTW,why isn't the bucket tool & selection tool like Photoshop?It makes shading colours problematic?or is it because its vector?

    I was not able to access the mc inside the scroll pane with the code:
    TweenLite.to(mc_pane2.content.scrollpaneBckgrnd_mc.FloraLytell_btn, 1,
    I had to explicitly specify that it is the mc I am accessing inside the
    scroll pane, otherwise I was getting errors:
    TweenLite.to(MovieClip(mc_pane2.content).scrollpaneBckgrnd_mc.FloraLyt ell_btn,
    1, );
    That's OK. It's because ScrollPane::content is of a type DisplayObject. DisplayObject does not contain property named scrollpaneBckgrnd. MovieClip, however, is a dynamic class and enables you to (try to) access virtually any property you can imagine. If it doesn't exist in your particular instance of a MovieClip, you'll get an runtime error.
    P.S. If you have time can you briefly tell me why is there  a line of code
    in your sample:
    mc_pane2.update();
    ScrollPane::update() measures your content and sets scrollbars accordingly, if needed.
    Can it be changed with the size specified for the mc_pane2:
    mc_pane2.setSize(556, 300);
    what would be the major difference between them?
    They definitelly don't do the same. ScrollPane::setSize() sets size of your scrollpane If you get same results using one or the other function, it's because your content is smaller than 556x300px and you don't need scrollbars so in this particular case ScrollPane::update() would "do nothing".

  • Zooming like Photoshop

    Why not have one zoom tool like Photoshop. You can drag the Zoom(Z) tool over ANY area of an image and it will zoom to that point and then a full zoom out would be the shortcut Ctrl>0 Only 2 clicks. I could do anything in milliseconds with that capability. I bet you could do this when you're fixing the Spectral view in a Photoshop file.
    With one zoom tool it would totally do away with the whole zoom box but leave it in the window menu in case somebody yaps 'cos it's missing :D
    BTW, don't forget to include it in Edit view as well.
    Mark

    I more or less do that now with a keyboard short cut to View Zoom to Selection. Then I just select the bit I want to zoom to by dragging the left clicked mouse over it and then use the shortcut key. The already assigned "\" key zooms back out fully horizontally.

  • Allow Free Distort like Photoshop

    In Photoshop, you can pull an image's control handles around to your heart's content, and fine tune the distortion to line up with a perspective grid. In Illustrator, you can only distort the bounding box of the whole shape, so once you move a single control handle, you lose control of one or more corners of the image, making precise distortions almost impossible. The best we have right now is the Effect > Distort & Transform > Free Distort tool, but there's no preview, so again, you can't line up the shape with a perspective grid.
    Please make Illustrator's Free Distort tool like Photoshop's!

    OK....so it's three years on from that original post (and the problem was around for years before that). We have seen all kinds of silly unnecessary fluff appear in the versions of Illustrator since then, but this fundamental bug still remains. It's such an important part of any workflow, and is so well implemented by the Adobe folks at Photoshop and After Effects. If anyone who programs Illustrator is reading this, please PLEASE admit that you're really not very good - just go Effect > Distort & Transform > Free Distort to see what I mean (look at that interface! Where's the Preview? Is this chunk of code from the 1980s?). Please swallow your misplaced pride, and ask one of the AE or PS people to do your job for you - properly. They'd probably fix the problem in 5 minutes. Admit it to yourself, your 'O' level in BASIC programming from 1979 just won't cut it any more.
    We all know that AI is a piece of junk - old bits of hastily cobbled-together code from various vintages, so please concentrate on just making it NOT SUCK, before you try to add a veneer of shiny new features to distract people from the underlying problems this piece of bloatware has. It really needs re-writing from the ground up, just not in COBOL or FORTRAN.
    ....not that this will go anywhere...what am I going to do? Use FreeHand instead?! Ugh. The joys of a monopoly.
    If EVERYONE who faces this problem in Illustrator submits a bug report (because it IS a bug - surely this is not "as designed"?!), maybe someone might take notice, and in another 3 years' time, the problem might get fixed. We can live in hope.....
    I haven't ploughed through every post in this thread, so it might have been mentioned already...but there is a kind-of (not very good) workaround, using Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Mesh (and set the mesh to 1x1). The corners have stupid Bezier handles, which won't go away, even using the Anchor Point Tool, so it will try to warp/bend the thing all over the place. But with some careful faffing around, and assuming you don't mind the artwork ending up a bit bent, you can get almost acceptable results.

  • WHEN Illustrator is likely to be adding "rotate view" tool, (like they have in Photoshop) or are they NOT GOING TO?!

    Hi everyone, I am trying to find out WHEN Illustrator is likely to be adding "rotate view" tool, (like they have in Photoshop) or if they are not going to do this at all.
    I hope someone from Adobe Illustrator reads these forums and responds. There is an existing thread that has no official response from Adobe, and it has literally tens of thousands of views!? Please Adobe Illustrator, can you give people the official response they need so they can plan their workflow.
    Apparently Affinity Designer is going to be adding a Rotate View Tool shortly and their app is only $50 one-off payment too, so perhaps you ought to respond before other people start making the switch? The rotate view tool is something illustrators really need, we already have it in Manga Studio, and it makes life so much easier. You can't really draw on a CINTIQ in vector form without it, at least not as well as you should be able to.
    Can you please update your paying customers so we can make an informed decision.
    Look forward to receiving a response.

    Eraser tool in Photoshop CS4 acts as if it is transparent when on brush or pencil mode. Block acts like its not transparent at all but there are no options for opacity, flow or brush size. Whats wrong and how to I make the brush and pencil eraser erase completely without having to go over it multiple times?
    It started randomly about two weeks ago and I thought it was a glitch that would just go away. But now I am getting sick of using only the block eraser on one size. Help?

    The easiest thing to start with is to reset the Eraser Tool.
    Right click on the Eraser icon in the tool options bar and then click on Reset Tool.

  • I have just downloaded Yosemite but I find that Photoshop Elements 11 does not work properly. If I use a tool like a paint brush or spot healer I cannot paint a full stroke?

    I have just downloaded Yosemite but I find that Photoshop Elements 11 does not work properly. If I use a tool like a paint brush or spot healer I cannot paint a full stroke does anyone else have this issue or know a solution?

    Many thanks that does work. But it now leads to another question is this simply a trackpad issue and if so will it be fixed? I use Elements every day and was thinking I would have to go back to Mavericks.

  • Hello, I update my mac pro to 10.10. Why the photoshop cs6 change to slowly now. When I change the tools like brush to command+Z, It's will be freeze a while. why? and how can I improve?

    hello, I update my mac pro to 10.10. Why the photoshop cs6 change to slowly now. When I change the tools like brush to command+Z, It's will be freeze a while. why? and how can I improve?

    what a long post....Apple, btw, does not read this stuff, so ranting, raving, and complaining here might make you feel good, but it does no good at all. That being said, I, too have a Mac Pro Quad Core Xeon with 6 gigs of ram and an nVidia 8800 GT graphics card (not as good as yours, alas) and I've had no problems at all with it. Yes, it doesn't have Thunderbolt, but maybe we Mac pro owners will get lucky and someone will come out with an adapter (probably not). No, you probably don't have to throw away your Mac Pro, but if you do, I'll take it, for a small "recycling" fee >:-) That was a joke.  Yes, the Mac Pro's future isn't quite clear, YET. Hopefully that will improve very soon. As for not being able to upgrade to Mountain Lion. Don't worry about that too much, Nobody is forcing you to do that.  Your Mac Pro won't quit working if it isn't installed. From what  I've heard, you should give the new OS a chance, and wait to get it, in case there might be some bugs, or stuff not working with the new OS, which has been known to happen. Yes, we Mac Pro owners don't like being treated like mushrooms-kept in the dark, and being fed......... but Apple is Apple and it will do what it does, and there is nothing you or me can really do to change that. All I can say is....trust, have faith, be patient, go for a walk, do something else to take your mind off of this problem. IF apple decides to drop the Mac Pro for good, and that's a big "IF", I think they will anger a whole bunch of people
    which isn't good. However, that hasn't happened...YET. Let us hope that it doesn't

  • 3D annotation: Draw line like 3D measurement tool

    Hello ,
              Can somebody tell me how can i draw temporary line in 3D annotation canvas using java script like "3D Measurement tool" ?   or same llike shown in "Zoom " tool right clicked and mouse drag event ..
    Thanks,

    I'm sorry I missed this request. :-(
    To accomplish your goal, you could use a MouseEventHandler, which would report back mouse positions in the 3D window (known as the canvas). You can get momentary positions on events such as MouseDown or MouseUp, or if you really need it, you can obtain real-time mouse positions using MouseMove.
    Here's a hunk of example code:
    //===================================================
    myMouseHandler = new MouseEventHandler();
    myMouseHandler.onMouseDown = true; //this prop is true by default
    myMouseHandler.reportAllTargets = false;
    myMouseHandler.onEvent = function(event)
    console.println("canvasPixelHeight = " + event.canvasPixelHeight );
    console.println("canvasPixelWidth = " + event.canvasPixelWidth );
    console.println("mouseX = " + event.mouseX );
    console.println("mouseY = " + event.mouseY );
    console.println("currentTool = " + event.currentTool );
    console.println("isMouseDown = " + event.isMouseDown );
    console.println("isMouseOut = " + event.isMouseOut );
    console.println("isMouseOver = " + event.isMouseOver );
    //Register the handler and turn the mule on
    runtime.addEventHandler(myMouseHandler);
    //===================================================

  • Where can I find information about using the measurement tool and log?

    Am try to use the measurement tool to measure perspective plain; any ideas?

    No one can remotely have "any ideas" to help you when you don't even mention what your problem is nor what your system and workflow are like.
    Of course, when you post here,one assumes you have done your due diligence, read the documentation, the user guide, the Help files in the Photoshop Help menu, as well as done Google and forum searches, etc, and we would expect some sensible, detailed information from you.
    Teaching someone Photoshop from scratch, step by step, exceeds the scope of this forum—or any other forum.

    Note that this is boilerplate text.
    If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
    such as your platform (Mac or Win),
    exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
    your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
    the type of file you were working on,
    machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
    what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
    if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
    if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
    A screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too,

  • Where is "measure tool" - it is to weep . . .

    So, I'm humiliating myself . . . what the hell, it's not like I'm using my real name.
    Windows XP Home SP3
    Photoshop v7.0
    I was looking for a quick way to rotate an image arbitrarily.  I looked through the forum here and found a reference to the "measure tool".  I went all through Photoshop and couldn't find it.  I checked the documentation and it says how to use it but not where to find it.
    I made a half-hearted search here in the forum, but I doubted anybody would offhandedly mention it while dealing with something else.
    I can't find it.  Toolbox - can't find it.  Menu - can't find it.  Help - can't find it.  Palette - guess.
    Please tell me where it is.  For the love of God.

    Hi,
    It's in your toolbox. It's housed in the same slot as the eye dropper and color sampler tool. If you click on the little black triangle at that location you'll get a fly out menu and can select that tool. Alternately, you can use the shortcut I. (Click i until it rotates into to the topmost slot and becomes the active tool...unless you have the box for use shift key for tool switch checked in the preferences which would make the shortcut shift + i.
    Below is a link to an old tutorial for Photoshop 7 on using the measure tool. It also discusses using the tool to straighten an image.
