Measurement of CJC for 1 of 3 SCC-TC modules

There are multiple SCC modules (> 9) being monitored of various signal types. Is it possible to read the cjc on a t/c/ module along with the other signals in the SC-2345 box

Thanks for the reply Brett"
I agree and understand your response for the t/c measurement
One aspect that I was looking at was the ability to monitor the following configuration effectively:
SCC t/c module in J1 and use J8 for CJC
SCC 1V analog module in J2
SCC 5V analog module in J9
Would this work by acquiring a config of ch 0 for t/c, ch 8 for cjc, ch 1 for V, and ch 9 for V?
Or does it have to go ch's 0,1,8,9
Thanks,

  • Can I measure 2 differential channels on a single SCC-SG24?

I am trying to use a single SCC-SG24 module to excite and measure the
output of 2 pressure transducers.  The module is installed in the
ACh2 position of an SC-2345 carrier. When I configure the module
through 'custom voltage with excitation' in MAX, I can set the terminal
configuration of ai2 to differential. However, the other channel of the
module, ai10, can only be set to RSE or NRSE; the other options are
greyed out. I want both channels to be set to differential. Can I
configure the SCC-SG24 to measure 2 differential channels on a single
    SCC-SG24? Thanks.

    Hi,
I did a little looking into the DataSheet
for SCC Modules, and I found the following schematic.
As you can see there 2 instrumentation amplifiers that make it to where your measurements
are really differential, and then mapped to the NRSE lines in the
SC-2345.  If you were to set up the DAQ board for differential it would
simply read the difference between one pressure transducer and the next.
Long story short, you set up the DAQ board for NRSE for all of the channels,
the SCC-SG24 makes it to where you are really taking a differential
measurement.  Everything works quite simply in the end.

  • CJC for Multiple SCXI Modules

I am setting up an SCXI signal conditioning system to measure 20 thermocouples using three 1320's and three 1120's in one SCXI-1000.  When using MAX (setup as one task), I have a couple of questions:
    1.  Is there any special or unique ways I have to setup MAX because I have multiple modules or does setting the "CJC Source" to "Built In" work correctly?
    2.  Which CJC of the three 1320's does max use for each channel?
    3.  What should the 1320 jumper be set to (MTEMP or DTEMP)?  Assume I am in multiplex mode.
Thank you in advanced for your support.
    Dan Young

    Hi Youngds01:
I would like to point you to this KB How Can I Address and Use Cold Junction Compensation (CJC) with SCXI Modules?
    1.       Is there any special or unique ways I have to setup MAX because I have multiple modules or does setting the "CJC Source" to "Built In" work correctly?
There is no correct way of setting up the CJC source it will depend on what you want to accomplish. You can use multiplex mode or direct mode by changing the jumpers (MTEMP or DTEMP), let’s say you will like to read the room temperature with scxi-1320 #1 you will set this for DTEMP and use SCxMody/_cjTemp to address the channel.
    2.       Which CJC of the three 1320's does max use for each channel?
It will use all each CJC for each SCXI-1320, so for example every time there is a measurement in SCXI-1320 #1 and SCXI-1320 #2 it will read the CJC of the 1320 #1 and then the 1320 #2.
    3.       What should the 1320 jumper be set to (MTEMP or DTEMP)?  Assume I am in multiplex mode.
You will set it up depending on what you would like to do. I will suggest setting the jumper to “mtemp” and if you will like to read that value from the CJC of one of the modules just use SCxMody/_cjTemp as the address where x = chassis and y = module.
    I hope it helps

  • Error  while creating PO --   Unit of measure not defined for lanuage  ZH

    Hi all,
i  have created the PR with EA as UOM. Then while creating PO, i am getting error like
'  Unit of measure not defined for lanuage ZH' .
    Then  I execute CUNI
Then menu is GOTO > Translation > units of measure
enter source language and target language . After this i am getting the below message
--->  Language not available on server
Please suggest what i should do. Thanks.
    Thanks
    pabi

    HI Pabi,
Go to material master for material in purchase requisition, the Go to Additional data and maintained language as ZH in material master data.
Also the other possibility, that if in your case purchase requisition are converted to purchase orders through background jobs,
then check the background job execution in SM37 whether that background job has been triggered twice parellely in the background, which could have resulted in locking of same purchase requisition at same time and hence your are getting the Error.

  • Unit of measure not defined for language ZH

    Hi,
We were creating a PO when we encountered the error which states "Unit of measure not defined for language ZH".
We executed CUNI to translate the units of measurement to our target language. System prompted "This object was segmented. Only new lines evaluated." What does this mean?
We tried creating the PO again, however we encountered the same error that the unit of measure was not defined for the language.
Please recommend action/s that we should take. Thank you.

Take a look at the below threads. Your problem has the solution.

  • If bought NI USB-6800 device, is Measurement Studio free for dev?

If bought a NI USB-6800 device, is Measurement Studio free for VC++ development?
Do I need to buy the Measurement Studio license?
Or is there another way to do the VC++ development? Such as via some free dll or ocx library.
Plus I noticed that there are UNIX/Linux drivers about NI USB-6800 device, but there is no document about C/C++ development under UNIX/Linux!
Can I do the development with NI USB-6800 device under UNIX/Linux?
An individual human existence should be like a river - small at first, narrowly contained within its banks, and rushing passionately past boulders and over waterfalls. Gradually the river grows wider, the banks recede, the waters flow more quietly, and in the end, without any visible break, they become merged in the sea, and painlessly lose their individual being.

  • Why is SCC FT MODULE USED?

i am about to use SCC FT module for one of my applications?what is this device function and under which situations is this useful?

    Hello,
The NI SCC-FT01 is a feedthrough module that offers direct connection to analog input or output, digital I/O and Counter channels of the E Series DAQ device. It also includes breadboard area for development of custom signal conditioning circuitry for analog input, analog output, digital I/O, and GPCTR channels of the E Series DAQ device.
I recommend you to read the User Manual of the FT01. You'll find there a more detailed description.

  • Converting RTD voltage to temperature using SCC-TC module.

I'm trying to convert the thermistor voltage from an SCC-TD module to deg C (using VB6). I am using the formulas supplied with the SCC-TC manual. The formula that I'm having problems with is Tk = 1/ [a+b(1nRt)+c(1nRt)^3]. I understand Rt to be the resistance of the thermistor but what is 1n?
If all else fails is there an API call I can make in VB6 for this conversion. I have seen reference to one in C but not VB6.

    Hello,
It is not 1n, it is ln i.e., natural logarithm.
The NI-DAQ Users manual talks about the conversion functions.

  • Does SCC-A10 module provide isolation similar to SCC-AIxx module?

I have a NRSE signal with range of 0 to 13 volts.  I am using an SC-2345 and a DAQ-6035E.
I have both SCC-AI04 modules and SCC-A10 modules.  I currently have it set up with the SCC-AI04 module and a resistor voltage divider on the input to scale the input from 0-13 volts to 0-5 volts.
I wish I could use an SCC-A10 module as a first stage and a SCC-AI04 module as a second stage, but this appears to be forbidden.
If I use only the SCC-A10 module, will I lose the benefit of the isolation?
    Thanks if advance.
    Regards, Ed Pirog

We have a number of existing systems which use a photomultiplier tube to monitor an optical process.  Mostly we use Hamamatsu R928 PMTs with C6271 sockets.  The systems have been around for years and I only recently got involved with them.  The NI hardware is 10 or more years old and it makes more sense to move forward to the current generation of hardware.
The operators of the existing systems do not well understand the electrical and/or electronic aspect of the system and there is lots of shop talk about 'noise' and 'ground loops'.  I am working to simplify the rats nest of wiring and to separate the myths from the facts.  There is a general sense that isolated everything is required.  I am not convinced, but I don't want to go backwards.
The interesting bit is that I got involved because one of the operators took a screwdriver to a home-built low pass filter and when he shorted it out, it fried up the $1500 DAQ card and the PC as well.  If it hadn't been for the screwdriver, I would not have seen it.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Voltage Limits to SCC-CI20 Module

I am going to be usinga sc-2345 and SCC-CI20 module to measure a 4-20mA signal from a pressure transmitter. An external power supply of 12-30 VDC will be applied to the pressure transmitter. The manufactures diagram shows the +DC from Pwr sup. going to the +side of the transmitter, the -side of the transmitter going to the receiver load, and then going out of the receiver load to the - DC Pwr Sup. Do I connect the SCC-CI20 as the receiver load? Is there a limit to the voltage the SCC-Ci20 module can take,(12-30VDC I hope is OK)?

    Ranger1,
Yes you need to connect the CI20 in series with the transmitter so that it could measure the current.
The SCC-CI20 can handle a maximum working voltage of 15V from channel-to-earth. This spec can be found on page 13 of your users manual.
    Hope this helps.

  • TS1587 I tried everything, except for reinstalling the SO-DIMM memory modules. Still, my iMac will not wake up. Turning it on you can hear the fan run, but the display stays dark. Any ideas what to do? Thanks Maja

My iMac won't start up, or wake from sleep.  I've tried everything, except for reinstalling the SO-DIMM memory modules. Still, my iMac will not wake up.  Turning it on, you can hear the fan run, but the display stays dark.  Any ideas what to do?  Thanks!

    Mac doesn't boot
Can you hear the fans and hard drive and see the white boot screen? Flashing question mark? The circle just runs and nothing happens? Only black screen and nothing else? These can be very helpful to diagnose the source of the problem. [1]
Flashing question mark [2]: This is usually a sign of a failed hard drive. This indicates that boot up volume can not be found.
Black screen: This is usually a sign of a failed logic board. There is no single reason for this and this may be caused by failed GPU, screen, CPU or RAM.
Circle of death/no circle/blue screen: This is usually a sign of a hard drive failure. This may NOT be a dead hard drive, just broken permissions or something
Gray screen/Apple logo/spinning gear or globe/prohibitory sign/folder with flashing question mark [3]: This could be a sign of faulty hardware but more likely a software issue, i.e. broken permissions, failed software update, etc.
    [edit]
    What to do
First, hold down the option key (also known as the alt key) just after you've pressed the power button. This should show all the available options to boot from, so if you have Windows installed through Bootcamp or a disk in your SuperDrive, you should be able to see them along with your OS X drive/partition. Select the OS X partition with arrow keys and press enter. Startup key combinations
If that doesn't help continue doing the steps from below:
    1. SMC reset [4]. Shut down and unplug all cables including power cord for at least 30 seconds and then plug in power cord and keyboard/mouse.
    2. PRAM reset [5]. Hold down option, command, P and R while booting. Start it when you hear the sound and don't let go before it reboots.
    3. Safe boot [6]. Hold down shift while booting to boot into safe mode. If this works, open Disk Utility from Utilities and repair your permissions and verify the disk
    4. Hardware test [7]. Insert the install disk (disk 1 in Mac which shipped with OS X 10.5.4 or earlier, disk 2 if shipped with OS X 10.5.5 or newer) and hold down "D" before the grey boot screen opens. Follow on screen instructions
    5. Boot from install disk. Boot from the disk that came with your Mac. Hold C while booting. Select Disk Utility from top bar and repair permissions and verify the disk. Reboot normally and see if it works now.
    6. Boot from another Mac (Firewire target disk mode). Connect the machines with a Firewire cable. Power on your Mac and press T. Select the other Mac's hard drive. Download the current OS X combo update. Run the combo update installer and select the drive that won't boot as the destination.
    7. "Repair" OS X. Boot from the install disk as in point 5. and reinstall OS X. This should NOT erase any data, just replaces the system files which may have caused your booting problem. Now install the latest combo update for OS X and repair permissions on your drive with Disk Utility.
7.1. Install OS X into an external hard drive and then boot from it [8] and try to copy your data from the hard drive before proceeding. If you have done a backup recently, you don't have to do this.
    8. Restore OS X from Time Machine backup. Boot from the disk that came with your Mac and choose the Time Machine restore option. This step will lose any changes made since your last backup but the system and your data will be put back to exactly as it was on that date.
8.1 Reinstall OS X. Boot from the install disk as in point 5. and select Disk Utility again. Now erase the whole hard drive and install OS X again. If you had a Time Machine backup and step 7 worked you don't have to do this.

I am looking into performing buffered acquisition of various digital signals using a PCI-6533 device. Can I use SCC-DI01 modules with this device? If so, would this be via the SC-2345 Carrier? The manual seemed to suggest is was only compatible with E-series devices?
Basically, I want to monitor 32 digital channels and will have a mixture of 5V and 24V signals.
    Many thanks,

    Hi Douglas
Could you please clarify where the manual suggests that the module is only compatible with an E series board (is it because only an E series board is referenced in the manual)?
I can't find any information stating which devices are/aren't supported by the SCC-DI01, but I will continue to investigate and keep you posted with my progress.
