Dear Experts
We have the scenario as explained below.
Service Notification is created for any Customer Equipment under warranty.
Each equipment has a unique measuring point defined.
For every service call in the Notification measurement/counter reading is entered.
The Measurement reading for the equipment entered in notification is used for validation of warranty.
If we enter measuring point for Equipment not entered in notification, system is allowing to enter the measurement reading which is incorrect. As a result system is allowing to service equipments out of warranty
How can we resolve this anomaly?

Dear Experts
Notification is created for Equipment X
The measurement reading has to be entered for equipment X through notification only not thru IK11.
In notif the user can enter measuring point for equipment Y and enter measurement reading .
So the notif is created for Eqpt X and measurement reading enterd is for Eqpt Y.
The warranty of Eqpt X is checked against measurement reading of Eqpt Y.
I hope the scenario is clear.

Measurement reading transfer

Dear PM Experts,
can any one help me regard Measurement reading transfer. In which scenario we use this one , how its impacts on measuring point / counter and measuring document? please suggest me. i am toomuch confusing regard this one.

Hi,
Measurement reading transfer occurs when a reading at a particular measurement point also updates another or multiple other measurement points. So the reading that is used to update counter A also updates counter B (and maybe C,D,E....).
This typically occurs in an equipment structure where a reading at one level will also update the counters linked to the sub-equipments. If counter A is linked to a airplane - any flying hours recorded to counter A should also be recorded on both engines (counters B and C).

Measurement Doc creation and Transfer: Difference field is the basis for measurement reading, why?

Hello All
I have transfer supported measuring points. Whenever I create a measurement document for a measuring point, the measurement values are transferred to all its subsequest measuring points havin transfer supported check. The target measurement points gets readings from source measuing point and source document and creats a new document for this measuring point, . The measurement reading is calculated by adding the difference (as per the difference in the source document) to the last counter reading and creates the new Total reading. Can some one xplain why the system adds the difference value and calculate a total reading.
This approach leads to discrepancy between Source and Target measurment document reading as the reading of both the source and target can be different on same time stamp and also I observed that the Target reading can be greater than the Source reading which can never be true or logically exceptable.
How can we solve this? Is this right and standard approach.Please provide your views and solutions.

Examine these 2 cases.
Case1
A Measuring point (Counter) created for recording Distance Traveled by a Car.
Case2
A measuring point (again a Counter), used to record the Fuel consumption in the Car.
In Case1, you have a meter fitted in the Car itself, which gives the Total Distance traveled. This reading you record in the Counter Reading in IK12. The Difference field is automatically updated.
In Case2, you read the amount of Fuel filled in the Car, from the Meter at the Gas Station, This reading you should record in the Difference Reading in IK12. Then the Counter Reading is automatically updated.
I hope you understand, in Case1, you can not know the Difference and in Case2 You can not have the Total readings.
About other doubts regarding Transfer of Measuring points, hope all the Measuring point invovled in the process have the same characteristics used.

Hi PM Experts,
Could some one please tell me how to associate a Measurement Reading Entry List to a PM Order or a Task List. I want the users to fill in few measurement points at the completion of a work order. I can club them in to one Meas. Reading Entry List.
But dont know how to link it to Order

with referance to your reply,
If you create notification, while raising request or malfunction report, measurement document will be created. So SAP has given option to create the Measurement document from Notification.
Once you complete the work & then while doing confirmation, maintenance people will capture the measurement reading. So in Confirmation, you can create the Measurement document.
Whats the need to attach measurement document in order / task list?
Thanks for the reply. Well answering your question at the end. I have few business requirement around recording measuring points associated to PM Work Flow. Inorder to cater to them in the best way I need to understand the concept and application behind Measurement Reading Entry List. Therefore I'd really appreciate if you could let me know in which cases we can/have to use entry list.

Measurement reading calculation

Dear Experts,
For an equipment we have assigned some three measurement point counters . We want to add a fourth counter whose values to be calculated automatically based on the value of the other three counters . Is it possible through standard SAP function or to be done through some enhancement ?

Just Check your fourth counter in IK08 ,In "Transfer of " field mention one of the first three counters , then Update the measurement document of mentioned first three counter , You can see that fourth Counter will get updated automatically.
But the Problem is you can Input only one counter in Transfer of field .
In SAP Counter update automatic takes Serial way , there is no facility for parallel updating.

Measuring point reading conversion from FLTP to Decimal

Hi Friends,
I want to create view for measuring document (Plant Maintenance). In view I want to select following fields.
Counter Reading
Measurement Reading/Total Counter Reading
Counter Reading Difference
All above columns have data type FLTP where as I want to convert it into decimal and want to show using view.

Time Series Measure : ToDate

Hi experts,
I have been facing a problem,for which I need your help.
I want to calculate No. of Pending claims till date....
I am trying achieve it using ToDate Function.
ToDate(Cliam Fact.Pending Claim,Year)
But, If I select Year=1999 it will show result like this
Pivot View :
Jan-1999 Feb-1999 Mar-1999 ....................
Pending Claims 10 15 9
ToDate_Pending 10 25 34
I want to calculate pending claims before Jan-1999 also
for ex. till Dec-1998 : if pending claim count is 210
then for Jan-1999 it has to show ToDate_Pending =220..
Can we get this by applying ToDate function on TotalLevel of Period Dimension Hierarchy?
Or do you have any better suggestion for this problem.....

As I understand, it's not a YEAR to date, because you don't want the cumul start from 0 each year. Is it right ?
If so, just try a "running sum" in the pivot table.
You will have these results :
Dec-1998 / Janv-1999 / Fev-1999 / Mar-1999
210 / 220 / 235 / 244
Jan-1999 Feb-1999 Mar-1999 ....................
Pending Claims 10 15 9
ToDate_Pending 10 25 34
If you need to "break" in function of another dimension, then use the RSUM function with "by" (ex : Rsum(measure by Category_product) )
(or Rcount, depending on what is your aggregation of your measure).

Creating a TEXT calculated measure

Is it possible to create a calculated measure of data type TEXT using AWM ?
I want to do the equivalent of defining an OLAP DML formula which returns a text value, but I want to be able to store the formula in the OLAP metadata.
I'm familiar with creating "dummy" calculated measures in AWM, saving to an XML template file, then editting the XML and reimporting, to define more complex calculated measures than the AWM wizard provides for, but I still haven't been able to successfully create a calculated measure which returns TEXT.
I've tried changing the XML from DataType="Decimal" to DataType="Text", but there are other sections in the XML such as:
CalcStep StepClass='oracle.dss.selection.calcStep.SimpleMathCalcStep
and:
CalcValue DataType='java.lang.Double'
which I think are also having an impact.
Any examples would be much appreciated.

I have succesfully created text-valued measures with the AWM graphical interface. You need to make sure when you define the data cube that it does not have the "compressed" option checked, then you will get TEXT as one of the choices of data when you create a measure.

Measuring Point for Tools and Die Maintenance

Dear All,
I am trying to map the following process:-
My client has 10 press machines and around 250 Dies for punching. Dies are assembled to press machines and they produce jobs by punching.
Client has an Preventive Maintenance plan for each Die in terms of number of strokes punched by an Die. for e.g PM is done after every 300000, 600000, 900000, 1200000 strokes. Estimated life is 1200000.
What they want is when production person confirms the production order say for 10000 jobs the counter of the die should increase by 10000.......and so on. When the counter reaches 300000 preventive maintenance call should be scheduled.
What i have done is created an Die as an Equipment with PRT as equipment category. Created an measuring point for that Die, assined Usage formula etc.
I have created an Maintenance plan for that die in which i have assigned the strategy (IP11) which contains the stroke cycles 300000, 600000.........etc.
Assigned the Die as a PRT to the material which is to be produced in the Routing.
When i confirm the production order the counter of the PRT increases which i can check IK13.
What i am expecting is that in IP10 system should update the counter automatically so that when the counter reaches to 300000 maintenance call wil be scheduled and order will be generated.
I would request you to please give me some input on this.

I have seen the screen shots & there are problems with the following:
1) Counter overflow reading
You have entered 130; keep it as- 999999 (it is the reading after which system starts counting from 0 value)
2) Formula that you have used;
You have used the formula- SAPF02; do not use this. Create you own formula with following details: SAPF99 (new formula) = SAP_20 * SAP_09
3) You have manually entered the reading for the measuring point; do not use it. System will calculate the measurement reading from PRT usage value.
CREATE a single measuring document with reading as '0'.
4) Also in CA01; you need to assign this PRT in routing with "EQUIPMENT" & not material. Also make sure that in the same screen (assignment of PRT- basic data) maintain usage value as 1 (if this is not maintained, measuring doc. will NOT be updated).
5) Now when you confirm the production order, based on number of units created; system will automatically create the measuring doc.
If there is any problem with CA01, CO01 or CO11n; ask your PP consultant to assist.
Do let me know if there is any problem in this.

Measuring Point characteristics Unit

We have characteristic "KK_pressure" with measuring unit of Pascal. Currently DCS interfacing system is sending the measurement data in form of Kilopascal for pressure gauge.
Is it necessarily required to create new characteristic with measuring unit of Kilopascal for documenting the correct reading of measuring point?
Actually I want to document measuring reading sent in kilopascal with measuring point of Pascal (SI unit of pressure) characteristic unit without applying customization.

First method:
If you want to capture only in Pascal, then try for the conversion. In ABAP code, while updatding the SAP DB, you can define that logic.
2nd Method:
Create one measuring point with Kilo Pascal & use that for Interface.

Hi,
Measuring Points are measurement of physical condition like temprature pressure, and consumption like fuel, and reading like hour meter , speedometer etc.
measuring points just like as log book of equipment
it is created by ik01, against technical object with characterstics of which we want to take measurment reading
and when actual reading are recorded against measuring point , a document is genrated called measurment document
it is crated by ik11, ik14 , ik34 against measuring point

Measuring Point in Maintenance Plan

How can I link a measuring point (not a counter) to the Maintenance Plan?
Currently, I can only link a counter to a Maintenance Plan but not a measuring point.
The reason why I am asking for this is that I would like to trigger automatic creation of a work order whenever a measurement reading for an equipment goes outside the specified upper and lower limit of a measuring point. I would like to define a condition in the maintenance plan for this based on the measuring point say for example temperature.
I believe activating userexit IMRC0001 is just part of the solution. Is there something else that needs to be done?

Is it correct that the userexit is triggered upon saving a measurement reading (tcode IK11)?
Do you have sample code for the userexit so that a Notification or Work Order will automatically be created when the reading entered is outside the upper and lower limit?

hi guys, is there anyway to measure the file transfer rate ,while sending o receiving a specific file
in iChat?

Actually I should say that it's not a good solution to stop all other applications to measure the network
traffic for one application, there is another problem cause even no file is during transfer the application sends and receives packets from internet and this way is not accurate to measure .
