Measurement tool & selection counting.  Stuck at 700.

Hey everyone,
My situation:
I have 85 images with approximately 2000 repetitive elements on each of them.  Each repetitive element = a capillaries cut in cross section in a mouse heart.
For small areas (approximately 1/4 of each image) I have successfully used the measurement tool to select a color range that represents the capillary.  I then export the data to MS Excel to count the number of selections that fall within a range of perimeter measurements, thereby representing the number of capillaries.
My problem:
Unfortunately, I can ONLY do this with small areas since the measurement tool does not let me "measure" more than 700 selections.  Is there a way around this?  I have no experience with scriptwriting, EEK!
Thanks everyone.
Jason

Now that’s a very »specialized« problem …
If you think that Scripting may offer a solution to the matter, you should try posting in the Photoshop Scripting Forum or at http://www.ps-scripts.com/
But I’m a bit skeptical, because wouldn’t splitting the documents up introduce a source of errors with elements that traverse splits-borders?

  • "select count(*)" and "select single *" returns different result

    Good day!
    product version SAP ECC 6.0
    oracle10
data transfers from external oracle db into customer tables using direct oracle db link
sometimes I get case with different results from 2 statements
    *mytable has 10 rows
    *1st statement
data: cnt type I value 0.
    select count( * ) into cnt from mytable WHERE myfield_0 = 123 and myfield_1 = '123'.
    *cnt returns 10 - correct
    *2nd statement
    select single * from  mytable WHERE myfield_0 = 123 and myfield_1 = '123'.
    *sy-dbcnt returns 0
    *sy-subrc returns 4 - incorrect, 10 rows are "invisible"
    but
    1. se16 shows correct row number
    2. I update just one row from "invisible" rows using se16 and 2nd statement returns correct result after that
    can not understand why
    thank you in advance.

    Thank you, Vishal
    but,
    general problem is that
    1. both statements have the same WHERE conditions
    2. 1st return resultset with data (sy-dbcnt=10), 2nd return empty dataset, but must return 1 in sy-dbcnt
Yes, different meaning, you are right, but must 2nd must return 1, because of "select single *" construction, not 0.
Dataset to process is the same, WHERE conditions are equal...
I think the problem is that how ABAP interperets select count(*) and "select single *".
Maybe "select count (*)" scans only PK from index page(s)? and "select single *" scans data pages? and something is wrong with that?
I'm new in SAP and didn't find any SAP tool to trace dump of data and indexes pages with Native SQL.
    se16 shows all records.
And why after simple manual update of just one record using se16 "select single *" returns 1?
I've just marked one row to update, didn't change any data, then pressed "save".

  • I have Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and cannot enable the measuring tool.  Any advice?

I have tried to add to the tool set, but I am not allowed to select the Measuring Tool and move to it the tool set.
    Any help is appreciated.

The Measuring Tool is not showing in the tools panel either.

  • Changing the Measuring Tool Graphics size (arrows and leaders)

I am measuring a drawing and I can't see what I need to click on because the measuring tool graphics are so large. Please see the images. Is there a way to make the graphics smaller, thinner, etc. so that I can actually measure something with a bit more accuracy?
In the pictures below I am trying to measure a wall footing and in the second image the rectangular footing is covered by the arrows when using the measuring tool. In the third picture, you can see what I am measuring and how covered up the rectangular footing is in the previous image.
I want to annotate the drawing with the measurements so I don't want to turn off the leaders and annotation. If someone has an answer, i would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

I am sorry if I have wasted anyone's time. I have actually now found a solution.
Right clicked the page when the measuring tool was selected and chose 'change scale ratio'. However, I would have never thought that it was a ratio issue...
    Thanks a lot, anyway.

  • Where is "measure tool" - it is to weep . . .

So, I'm humiliating myself . . . what the hell, it's not like I'm using my real name.
    Windows XP Home SP3
    Photoshop v7.0
I was looking for a quick way to rotate an image arbitrarily.  I looked through the forum here and found a reference to the "measure tool".  I went all through Photoshop and couldn't find it.  I checked the documentation and it says how to use it but not where to find it.
I made a half-hearted search here in the forum, but I doubted anybody would offhandedly mention it while dealing with something else.
    I can't find it.  Toolbox - can't find it.  Menu - can't find it.  Help - can't find it.  Palette - guess.
Please tell me where it is.  For the love of God.

    Hi,
It's in your toolbox. It's housed in the same slot as the eye dropper and color sampler tool. If you click on the little black triangle at that location you'll get a fly out menu and can select that tool. Alternately, you can use the shortcut I. (Click i until it rotates into to the topmost slot and becomes the active tool...unless you have the box for use shift key for tool switch checked in the preferences which would make the shortcut shift + i.
Below is a link to an old tutorial for Photoshop 7 on using the measure tool. It also discusses using the tool to straighten an image.

  • The measuring tool and scale ratios

    For mac users-
I use Adobe to open and work with Architectural plans. The measure tool has been a valuable partner in working up bids and scaling things when no measurements exist. However, no one has addressed how to use the scale tool for these type of drawings. Here is what I have come up with. Hold the option key and click the drawing and the change scale ratio menu appears. If your drawing says 1/4=1' use .25 in the scale ratio / select inch = use 1 in the next window / and ft in the last.
Any of these digits should get you an accurate scaling of your document providing it was scanned properly. I have been looking for a list like this for years. I hope it helps you.
    .50 for 1/2" = 1'
    .1250=1/8"=1'
    .25 for 1/4=1'
    .37 FOR 3/8=1'
    .75 FOR 3/4=1'
    0.09375 FOR 3/32 =1'
    .189 FOR 3/16 =1'
    0.0625=1/16 = 1'
    0.0425 =1/20 =1'

  • 3D document, measure tool disabled

I have been searching this topic and I can't find anything conclusive on this situation.   I have Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.10.  I would like to take measurements of parts on a 3D PDF.  These folks are outsourcing work to us to build and I can't get measurements that I need from the notations they have made.  I know the measure tool will solve my issues, I have seen it in use, but I don't have access.  I have the following tools available above my 3D image:
I know the ruler / measure tool belongs up in the left section of tools but mine isn't there.  I have the Extended toolbar and I can see the Measuring Tool is disabled here.  Object Data Tool & Geospatial Location Tool aren't helping me.
I have looked at the document security settings and nothing stands out to me that says I have limited access this way.  How do I activate my ruler? or if this functionality has been deactivated by the document author, where can I find that out conclusively?

The tool needs to be enabled using Acrobat. For example, in Acrobat 9 you'd open the document and select: Comments > Enable for Commenting and Analysis in Adobe Reader
    or
Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader

  • Illustrator Measuring tool Question

Hello to all my name is Ron. Can someone tell me If the measuring tool in Illustrator can be set at a particular length? In other words, Can I set the measuring tool to, let say, 3.5" with out It retracting, and move It around the document. I believe that I saw someone do this using an older version of Illustrator a few years back, but I could never figure out how do It. Thanks for any help. The version I have access to is prehistoric, It's Illustrator 10.
    Regards,
    Ron

Can I set the measuring tool...and move It around the document.
Don't waste time trying to get any practical use out of Illustrator's pathetic measure tool. (Fercryin'outloud, if any tool should provide proper and reliable snap-to feedback a measureing tool should!)
    Use the Line Tool instead.
To create a fixed-length "ruler" Get the Line Tool, click (don't drag), set the desired length and direction, and click Okay.
To use a "line" (a single-segment path) or any straight segment of a path as an adjustable measuring tool:
    1. Turn on SmartGuides (necessary in Illustrator whenever you need reliable snaps)
    2. Get (and keep) the under-informative Info Palette in front of you.
    3. Get (and keep) the redundant, should-be-unnecessary Document Info Palette in front of you. Everytime you start the stupid program, tediously reset this palette to Objects and Selection Only. Set that way, it displays the length of the selected path.
    4. Remember that any time a selection is active, you can doubleClick either the white pointer (for anchorPoints) or the black pointer (for objects) to invoke the Move dialog, to specify a movement in terms of distance and direction.
    Then proceed as follows:
If you have a fixed measure of a particular direction that you need to repeatedly apply. DoubleClick the Line Tool to specify a single-segment path of desired length and direction. Use the path as a moveable "measuring stick". Just be sure to remember to always select the whole thing before moving it around by one of its ends (as you would do so as to snap the end to an existing coordinate). You have to always be mindful to consciously work around Illustrator's stupid insistence upon its hideous dual selection tools.
Disregard the crap you often hear bantered about regarding how any self-respecting self-proclaimed "Illustrator expert" never uses the black pointer and always leaves Bouding box display off. ShiftDragging one of the two bounding box corners at the endpoints of a single-segment path is one of the few ways to maintain the angle of a segment while dragging its endpoint to snap to another path, guide, or other snapable coordinate. Granted, Illustrator should provide the means by which to constrain the drag of that endpoint to the segment's existing angle without resorting to a bounding box, but in Illustrator, everything is a workaround.
When you need to set a length of a diagonal straight segment of an existing path, realize that you can drag the anchorPoint that you want to exend or shorten to a specific distance/angle and snap it right on top of the anchorPoint at the other end of the segment. Then doubleClick the whitePointer, and enter the desired length/angle into the Move dialog.
Remember that you can convert paths to pathGuides, and that pathGuides including their anchorPoints are snapable. You can then lock/unlock Guides  and still snap to their anchorPoints. So, for example, if you need to snap to distance increments along diagonal construction axes, you can draw a straight path with anchorPoints distributed uniformly and convert that to a snap-to pathGuide. (Try to ignore the fact that better programs with SmartGuides-like features provide settings for incremental snaps along the pre-defined constraint angles, so such tedous setup is not necessary.)

  • Changing the measuring tool units and measurements

    Hi,
When reading the PDF in Acrobat 9 Pro, how can I change the measurement units  from inches to metric when using the measuring tool?
I have already been  to Preferences and changed in Units and Guides the Page and Rules Units  to millimeters but then, although the rulers do change to mm, the  measuring tool (the red lines) still read in inches...I have also made sure the Measuring (2D) preferences show the 'Use Scale and Units from Documents' is checked.
Does anyone kow how I could get the measuring tool to give me the dimensions in metrics?
It would be truly great if anyone could clarify this. Thank you so much!

I am sorry if I have wasted anyone's time. I have actually now found a solution.
Right clicked the page when the measuring tool was selected and chose 'change scale ratio'. However, I would have never thought that it was a ratio issue...

  • My measurement tool is not appearing.

My measurement tool is not appearing. I have guides and rulers set to show and I am holding down Cmd but for some reason only the pink alignment lines are showing. Is there a setting I've missed??

What do you mean by the Measurement Tool? There are measurement tools, such as Ruler and Count, but no tool named Measurement. You mention that you are holding down the Command key, but this is for switching to the Move tool.

  • Measurement tool - Can't choose scale?

Just upgraded from Acrobat 8 to X.  in 8, it was easy to adjust the measuring scale.  once you hit the measurement toolbar, you could type in the scale you wanted it to use.  Is it possible in Acrobat X to adjust the scale of the measurement tool?

  • Adobe Hangs using measure tool

I am using Adobe reader ver 11.0.09 and my computer freezes for about 30 seconds when I use the measure tool after I select the first point, and this is only the first time using after I use it once it works fine.

    Hello Emma,
It works ok for me here. Where are you reading the measurement? (Info Panel? Ruler Tool Option Bar?)
Is your Photoshop up to date?

  • Measuring power using NI-USRP and Spectral measurements tool kit

    Hello every one
I'm just inquiring how to calculate the power in a channel using NI USRP and SMT tool kit because I have failed calculating it using direct method so I purchased SMT so could any one help me by providing me with an example that describes how to calculate the power using spectral measurements tool kit , our he could tell me the steps that I could follow .
    Thanks a lot

    Hi MHantera,
I don't think I'm fully understanding your most recent message. The FFT Spectrum (Mag-Phase) VI in the USRP example as well as the FFT Power Spectrum and PSD VI both output a full spectrum that already includes the f0 and df so you don't need to set those. If you're using the later you should select Power Spectrum (the default for "export mode") for the In Band measurement. Using that VI are you seeing a size limitation? What settings and sample size are you trying to use? Is it returning an error about being unable to perform the FFT or are you just not seeing the results you should? Any more information you can provide about this would be helpful.

  • Measuring Tool Issue

I do 95% of my work on architectural drawings.  The measuring tool used to work great when I wanted to convert inches to feet.  For some odd reaon, even after I select the proper scaling, it does not display the correct figures.  All I am trying to do is scale an opening and convert inches to feet and be able to see the measurments.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks for your help.

What about just simply having the measurement and section toolbar appear? I've been capturing files using the "print screen" method and not been able to produce a PDF that will display the measurement and section tool in the reader. Can anyone tell me how to do it?
    Thanks,
