Measuring point as counter mass maintenance

Hi,
I have created some 500 equipments through BDC. But I forgot to put a tick (X mark in template) against field u2018Indicator to Show that Measuring Point Is a Counter.
How to put a tick on that field in mass?? Other wise I will have to go to T code IE02 500 times and put a tick manually.
Pls guide.
Regards.

Hi Dear,
You can use the LSMW for the T-Code IE02, Recording Methord.
That can serve your Purpose.

  • Diffrence between Measuring point and Counter

What is the difference between Measuring Point and Counter ?
    -Md

    Hi,
    _Measuring Point_
Measuring points in the SAP System describe the physical locations at which a condition is described, (for example, Temparature and Pressure on a Boiler ). The characteristics associated with the measuring points which record the value can only be numeric characteristic. Measuring points are located on technical objects, in other words, on pieces of equipment or functional locations. For every measuring point there should be some characteristics to measure the reading.
To enable you to differentiate more easily between the individual measuring points and provide them with a unit, you assign each measuring point to a characteristic.
The parameters like Running Hours, Temperature, Pressure etc,, on equipments can also be mapped under measuring point.
    Counter:
A type of measuring point, where a continuous reading is recorded (e.g. Milometer). In case the measuring point is a counter, it needs to be defined likewise.
Counter readings are taken at counters at particular intervals and in particular measurement units.
For Example, counter readings for kilometers driven or electricity used

  • Measurement point and counter SAP PM

    Hi SAP Guru
I've one scenario in which we've to input counter reading smaller than the previous reading
and some times bigger reading than previous reading for a single counter.
It is because single counter is for Energy Meter which sometimes shows bigger value and sometimes shows lesser value in case of shutdown at plant.
Please let me know asap - is it possible for a single counter to accept bigger value one time and next time smaller value ?
We can't make two counters for a single equipment.
    Regards
    Pooja

Try using the counter as a measurement point.   Unclick the box measurement point is a counter and set the upper and lower tolerance settings on the details page.  The meter is not a counter but a gage.  as long as the gage reads between the upper and lower tolerances you are good.     If the gage reads out of tolerance designate a warning or an error.  You can also set it up through a user exit to produce a notification or a work order for out of tolerance readings.  See Condition Based Maintenance. -Rich

  • Equipment Efficiency through Measuring Point and Counters

    Hi gurus,
I am planning to get the efficiency of equipment by using Meauring points and counters.
Against an Equipment I have created a Measuring point as counter.
I am capturing Actual output of the machine as mesurment reading.
In order to set the Target output i dont find a solution.
I am expecting from all you guys to give me some solution to set the Expected or standard output against an equipment.
so that i can compare the target vs actual as well as efficiency.

The purpose of measuring points and counters is to genrate call objects at given overflow reading or points I dont think so that they can help in calculating the effiency in a way that this machine perfomence is let say 80% and other one is 70%.
However you can maintain it manualy while entering the measuring points in format of % .

  • Maintenence for measuring point

    hi,
i am having clear idea about what is measuring point and counter and how to asign to a equipment.my question is how to give regular maintenece for measuring point or counter. how to calibrate that the measuring point is working properly...................(like preventive maintenence plan)..is it possible ?

    Either
    Go to K11>edit>change gr counter
    or

  • Measuring points & counters......................,

    hi everyone,
could you tell me indetail about measuring points and counters....
what is difference b/w measuring point and counter ....?
and what is the use with the measuring position and target value...
and what is the effect if we select the measpoint is counter text box at initial screen..(t.code: ik01)
plz share any information which u have..... if u dont mind
    thanks in advance.....

    Hi,
Measuring Point & Counters are used to capture the Important Parameters which should be captured on periodical basis.
Measuring Position => This is Number or Description which is used to describe the Measuring Point.
Target Value => Ideal or recommended Value for that measuring point
Measuring Point is Counter => If you want to define ODO meter reading, that kind will be counter.
Please go through some of the links.

  • Assignment of measuring point category to functional location category

    Hi,
If i am not doing performance based maintenance planning for functional locations then is there any need to assign/put measuring point category to functional location category during customization ?
    Regards,
    Vivek

You could also use measurement points for Condition based maintenance functionality or for Capturing measurement readings not relevant for Maintenance planning. if your business process doesn't need both along with Performance based maintenance, its not required to assign the same.

  • Plant Maintenance - Measuring Point Counter Replacement

    Dear Expert,
I had created Measuring Point which is cumulative in nature and the Counter Overflow reading is 999999. Suppose the last reading was 999900. Now my today reading is 500 then system is showing total counter reading 10000400.
My question is "how system will replace the counter reading as 401 automatically instead of 10000400". I don't want to replace the counter manually. Please guide me where i have to do configuration for this or what is best way to do it.
    Thanks & Regards
    Rajiv Ranjan

    Hi Thyagu,
Thanks for your reply and valuable suggestion.
My question is how the Total Counter Reading will become zero and start from zero when it overflow.
    For example :
Lets Counter Over Flow Reading is 100
total counter reading on 8th august is 90.
on 9th august the difference is 40, then Counter reading become 30 and TotalCtrReading               is 130. I want TotalCtrReading should show 30 instead of 130. how to do it?

  • Maintenance Order through Measuring Point

    Dear all,
I want to know whether it is possible to create the maintenance order on the basis measuring point .
I know how to create the order on the basis of measuring counter.
Is there any procedure to create the maintenance Order through measuring point as done in case of counter?
kindly provide the solution for Creation of Maintenance Order using Measuring Point..

Really very thanks for the solution.
I have one more query, we can create the measuring point using the t.code IK01.As you told we have to create the measuring point with upper and lower range.
Is that we have to create 2 measuring point for upper as well as lower range or in one measuring point it is possible to accumulate both the upper and lower range.
If it is possible to accumulate both the upper and lower range in one measuring point then kindly provide the procedure.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Measuring Point for Tools and Die Maintenance

    Dear All,
I am trying to map the following process:-
My client has 10 press machines and around 250 Dies for punching. Dies are assembled to press machines and they produce jobs by punching.
Client has an Preventive Maintenance plan for each Die in terms of number of strokes punched by an Die. for e.g PM is done after every 300000, 600000, 900000, 1200000 strokes. Estimated life is 1200000.
What they want is when production person confirms the production order say for 10000 jobs the counter of the die should increase by 10000.......and so on. When the counter reaches 300000 preventive maintenance call should be scheduled.
What i have done is created an Die as an Equipment with PRT as equipment category. Created an measuring point for that Die, assined Usage formula etc.
I have created an Maintenance plan for that die in which i have assigned the strategy (IP11) which contains the stroke cycles 300000, 600000.........etc.
Assigned the Die as a PRT to the material which is to be produced in the Routing.
When i confirm the production order the counter of the PRT increases which i can check IK13.
What i am expecting is that in IP10 system should update the counter automatically so that when the counter reaches to 300000 maintenance call wil be scheduled and order will be generated.
I would request you to please give me some input on this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Rashmi

    Hello Rashmi;
I have seen the screen shots & there are problems with the following:
    1) Counter overflow reading
You have entered 130;  keep it as- 999999 (it is the reading after which system starts counting from 0 value)
    2) Formula that you have used;
You have used the formula- SAPF02; do not use this. Create you own formula with following details: SAPF99 (new formula)  = SAP_20 * SAP_09
    3) You have manually entered the reading for the measuring point; do not use it. System will calculate the measurement reading from PRT usage value.
CREATE a single measuring document with reading as '0'.
    4) Also in CA01; you need to assign this PRT in routing with "EQUIPMENT" & not material. Also make sure that in the same screen (assignment of PRT- basic data) maintain usage value as 1 (if this is not maintained, measuring doc. will NOT be updated).
    5) Now when you confirm the production order, based on number of units created; system will automatically create the measuring doc.
If there is any problem with CA01, CO01 or CO11n; ask your PP consultant to assist.
Do let me know if there is any problem in this.
    Regards
    Hemant

  • Measuring Point & Counter

    Hi PM Gurus,
Can you tell me about the performance based maitenance :
    1. Measuring Point (M.P.)
    2.Counter
What are the characterstic units come under the Measuring Point.is it right that only we can give upper and lower limit in M.P not in counters. Also User exit is only created for MP not for counter.
What are the basic difference between Measuring Point & Counter.
In both the cases is it necessary to select counter tick mark or only in case of counter ?Is there is any difference while generating the plan
    Regards,
    RC

    Hi Raju,
    You can do this through,
IMG - Maintenance Plan, work center, task list & PRTS - Maintenance Plan - Set maintenance plan catagories.
Here in call object column you can define which type of call object you want for your maintenance order based on this you will get the order or notification as a call object.
And rest of the things measuring point & counter that already defined in this thread.

  • Measuring Point in Maintenance Plan

How can I link a measuring point (not a counter) to the Maintenance Plan?
Currently, I can only link a counter to a Maintenance Plan but not a measuring point.
The reason why I am asking for this is that I would like to trigger automatic creation of a work order whenever a measurement reading for an equipment goes outside the specified upper and lower limit of a measuring point.  I would like to define a condition in the maintenance plan for this based on the measuring point say for example temperature.
I believe activating userexit IMRC0001 is just part of the solution.  Is there something else that needs to be done?
    Thanks.
    Giscard

    I have already activated userexit.
Is it correct that the userexit is triggered upon saving a measurement reading (tcode IK11)?
Do you have sample code for the userexit so that a Notification or Work Order will automatically be created when the reading entered is outside the upper and lower limit?
But my questions actually is this - Is possible to link a measurement point (not a counter) to a Maintenance Plan?

  • Measuring points in maintenance planning

    Hi,
Can we use measuring point(not a counter) for preventive maintenance planning. for example - i need to perform the operation when a color of oil is changed from yellow to black. is it possible through measuring point?. it is possible means please share that procedures.
    Regards
    sathish

    Hi Satish,
Yes, it is possible to generate a maintenance notification if the measuring point reading is not as per standards or target value. You require a user exit IMRC0001 to IMRC0005. Also read documentation for these user exits in tcode SMOD.
