Measuring Point - remove characteristic

Ladies and Gents,
I have created a measuring point and have assigned a characteristic to it.  I have then saved it and went back to change mode.  I cannot seem to change the characteristic anymore as the field is grayed out.  I have checked the config and all the menus and cannot see a way of re-enabling that field.
Could someone please provide some guidance on how I could change / remove the characteristic on a measuring point?
Thanks
Mantas

thyagarajan,
I seem to be reaching the same conclusion after numerous discussions with my colleagues.  Would you have a reference to documentation somewhere to support your conclusion?
Keshav Reddy,
Either:
1.  Create a measuring point (IK01) setting a numeric characteristic.
2.  Modify an existing measuring point (IK02) - characteristic field should be grayed out.
My question was - why is this field grayed out and how could we go about removing the characteristic / modifying it without having to modify the entries in the database tables.
Kind Regards,
Mantas

  • Measuring point for Power Factor Meter

    Dear All Experts,
I need to create PF meter as Measuring Point.
I have created characteristic PF without any unit of measure assigned to it since PF is a ratio.
Now if I create Measuring point using characteristic PF system does not allow me to create the same popping up message" only characterisitcs with a unit of measure can be used."
Then I created a unit as Ratio and assigned to the Characteristic PF.
Even then system does not allow me to create measuring point popping up the same message.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Sanjay

    Hi,
You could create the Measuring Point only with the characteristics with Numeric UoM. So create the ratio with Numeric UoM & try the same.

  • Removing of the Measuring  point and superior equipment

    Hi,
Can any one tell me the steps to followed for removing and setting og deletion flag for measuring point and superior equipment.
I ran thr Tcode IK05 and deactivated it is it sufficient to do so.please help me.
    Regards,
    Yashwanth

    hi
why you want to deactivate the measuring point ,if you have created a maintenance plan you can deactivate the maintenance plan so that system will not generate the maintenance call object.
or it is better you deactivate the equipment itself if you have done that you cannot able to enter further measurement documents for measuring point

  • Cannot create "Digital" measuring points on Work Manager 6.0

    Hi All,
I am attempting to create "digital" i.e. Pass/Fail measuring points in Work Manager 6.0. I can enter readings as shown below but when I execute a sync, the error message below is shown:
I can use the same measuring point in SAP via IK11 as shown below to create a measuring document using valuation code only. However, the Work Manager requires a numeric characteristic to be added and the "no reading" checkbox to be ticked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

    Hi Michael,
I tried setting it up with just the two values (0-fail and 1-Pass) and I'm still running into errors. If you could take a look I'd be grateful.
Set up code group with two values:
IK11 allows just the valuation code to be used:
    On the device:
As far as I can see this should work but it still creates the same error as previously. Ideally it should work as IK11 and allow the user to select from multiple valuation codes but it appears to still require a characteristic.
One option I tried is to assign a characteristic in addition to the the valuation code and use a 0 reading. This works but is a "workaround" solution in comparison to IK11.
Any help would be really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

  • Measuring point update by production order confirmation

    Hi friends,
I created a prt as equipment and assigned it to the routing. I created a production order and when i confirm the same i am getting following error as:
Document MeasUnit has a different dimension to the characteristic unit
    Message no. IR071
    Diagnosis
The measurement unit on creation of the measurement document must have the same dimension as the measurement unit of the characteristic of the measuring point.
In this case, the measurement unit % does not suit the character unit EA of the measuring point 103.
    System Response
    Processing will not be continued.
    Procedure
    Use the possible entries help.
    Please suggest the solution.

    Hello Sir(s)
i have gone through entire post for the subject related to measuring point auto update from production order confirmation.  I have tried the same but i dont know what i am missing.
if i put some value like 1 or 2 and appropriate UOM then only my measuring document is being updated with the same value not with the actual confirmed quantity..  i have already maintained standard formulla in prt view.
my basic requirement is to get actual value of produced quanity as counter update. means if 20 pieces have been produced and confirmed in co11n, then counter must bhe updated with the value of confirmed quantity.
please advice what value should i put as usage in routing master to get actuall counter update.
Will Highly appreciate your quick reply.

  • Measuring Point characteristics Unit

We have characteristic "KK_pressure" with measuring unit of Pascal. Currently DCS interfacing system is sending the measurement data in form of Kilopascal for pressure gauge.
Is it necessarily required to create new characteristic with measuring unit of Kilopascal for documenting the correct reading of measuring point?
Actually I want to document measuring reading sent in kilopascal with measuring point of Pascal (SI unit of pressure) characteristic unit without applying customization.
    Reagrds,
    Tehsin

    First method:
If you want to capture only in Pascal, then try for the conversion. In ABAP code, while updatding the SAP DB, you can define that logic.
    2nd Method:
Create one measuring point with Kilo Pascal & use that for Interface.

  • Accepting date as a measuring point

Please guide as to how does one accept date field as an input in measuring points.Have made a characteristic with date format, yet while creating a measuring point with the said characteristic , displays an error
" Only characteristics with a Numerical  format can be used "
    awaiting an early reply,

    Hi pshthecoolest ,
You cant declare DATE with Date format as Characteristics , as per Std SAP.
Work around will be Create Char CT04 DATE , with Numeric format with Template  (8), assign appropriate unit of Measurement , that you need to create separately t code CUNI.
But above all why you required to put reading as a Date in measuring point ?

  • Diffrence between Measuring point and Counter

What is the difference between Measuring Point and Counter ?
    -Md

    Hi,
    _Measuring Point_
Measuring points in the SAP System describe the physical locations at which a condition is described, (for example, Temparature and Pressure on a Boiler ). The characteristics associated with the measuring points which record the value can only be numeric characteristic. Measuring points are located on technical objects, in other words, on pieces of equipment or functional locations. For every measuring point there should be some characteristics to measure the reading.
To enable you to differentiate more easily between the individual measuring points and provide them with a unit, you assign each measuring point to a characteristic.
The parameters like Running Hours, Temperature, Pressure etc,, on equipments can also be mapped under measuring point.
    Counter:
A type of measuring point, where a continuous reading is recorded (e.g. Milometer). In case the measuring point is a counter, it needs to be defined likewise.
Counter readings are taken at counters at particular intervals and in particular measurement units.
For Example, counter readings for kilometers driven or electricity used

    Krishna Mohan.

  • Relation betn Measuring Point & Classification

In Transaction Ik03, After entering measuring point ... Press enter. Now go to GOTO-->Classification.
On this screen we have two fields characteristic description & value.
i want the table or function module which give the relationship betn this value & measuring point.
    Thanks In advance....

    hi Yogesh,
Measurement document is in table IMRG. IMPTT is the table storing Measuring point. You can start at these tables.

  • LSMW Measuring Point Delete

    Hi,
I have tried creating an LSMW in order to delete a measuring point associated to an equipment using IE02 and/or IK05. I would not like to delete all of the measuring points by using the select all buton and delete. Therefore I am using the tick box to select the measuring point I would like to delete. However, the LSMW does not recognise that I am selecting a measuring point.
Any work around or any other option?
    Regards,
    Nikolai

IK02 does not enable you to delete the measuring point, however it allows me to change the decimal places which is what I wanted. CT04, does not allow you to change the decimal point of the characteristic if it is already assigned to an equipment.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Update measuring points by good receipt

    Hi experts,
I have a requirement where the client wants to update a measuring point based on good receipts.
The idea is to create a equipment (PRT) with a measuing point and asign this equipment on a BOM.
The FERT I will send to a vendor as subcontracting and when I receive this material, in the moment of good receipt the measuing point should be update. Is it possible using the standard ?
    Kind Regards,
    Bruno

    hi
in standard you can update the measuring points by confirming the quantities in production order..but updating the measuring points using goods receipt is difficult
you can also try a workaround ,generally the the MIC you are creating should be linked with the characteristic which is already created for equipment (as measuring point) ,then assign a material no in the serial number tab.then do the process ( i haven't checked just a try)
so prepare an inspection plan for goods receipt with the MIC created and make the settings for follow up action for usage decision as update measuring points(assign suitable FM) ,then do the process and check

  • Graph of Measurement points and a charecteristic vs time

    Hi SAP Masters,
I am currently having a problem and I hope you can help me to solve this. I am trying to create a graph where I can compare one of  my Design data which is in my characteristic against the graph that i can generate from the measurement point vs time graph.
How can I add the characteristic into this graph?
And How does SAP know that which two column should be used for the graph? I know It can add a secondary y-axix but doesn't allow me to chose any data for that axis.
My objective is to compare the measurement point data(movement) vs time with the design data(design movement). I can generate a column graph of movement vs time from the measurement points and I can display it over last couple of years. but if I can show design movement along with the measurement point movement then it is good for us to see if it is more than design movement stored in the classification tab of the Floc.
    thank you

  • Archieving the measurement points

    Hi friends
I would like to know how to archieve the measurement point . Unfortunately we have created the counter in production system without requirement. Now we want to remove the same. But we are not finding the object in SARA to remove the same.
    Please help on this
    Regards
    Thenna

    Hi
Why dont you go for Deleting for the Measurement point for Equipment or FL in change mode IE02 or IL02 then press Shift+F2
If you created any Measurement documents for above Measurement Point the first you have to Archiev the them using Object PM_IMRG.Then go for deletion of Measurement point

  • Functional module to Copy measurement points from one equipment to another

    HI,
Please give some body function module to Copy measurement points from one equipment to another which is not assign to functional location.

To Copy Measuring Points from one equipment to another , Go to transaction IE10 and copy all the relevant data that need to be copied Check the measuring point check box, it would copy the characteristic for measuring point to the newly created equipment and would create a system generated number for the measuring point. Both the measuring points would have the same characteristics and if they are attached to each other in a hierarchy then the measurement document readings could also be transferred from one measuring point to another.. You could use the following Function Module "EQUIPMENT_COPY" to copy the measuring point from one equipment to another if equipment has already been created.
