Measuring renedered page size (in bytes)

Currently we are measuring page process time, page generate time and rendered time (according Vicas example)...
Now we want to measure another value-rendered page size.
Final thought is to analyze long page processes... botleneck...which is not based on big page size but some other problems (db, too many users etc...). For that analyze we need "rendered page size" because it may have direct impact.
So, Is possible to get that information...and if it is-how?
THX!

Are you referring just to the HTML source code, or are you including graphical files, CSS, JS etc.?We wan to measure "weight" of sent HTML page (CSS, JS are in our case not too importan...because they are small...bu doesn' be a problem when is calculated)...
We want to see definition and data as well in numbers...how big our page is...

  • Custom Page Sizes - How to change from centimeters to Inches?

    Hello,
    I'm working on some panoramic prints to an Epson R2400 and I need to set up a custom paper size for printing to roll paper. When I select Custom Page Sizes from the Page Setup dropdown, all my measurements are forced into centimeters. Even if I try and specify it to be in inches when I type in the values, I get an error saying "Invalid Number" because of the " (in mark designation).
    And because the input box only allows two decimal places, I can't get accurate inches-to-centimeter conversions because the sizes I need are 3+ decimals when converted to centimeters.
    Searching on the web I've come across many pages with info on the Custom Page Sizes dialog box and the images show the values being set in inches, but I've found nowhere that says where you specify where I can change this default measurement?
    If anyone could help me, it'd be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

    Answering my own questions.
    Because I'm Canadian, in Preferences -> International -> Formats I needed to change "Measurement Units" to "US" instead of "Metric".

  • Page Size in Points

    We have a user who has Adobe CS3 installed on her system and when she prints PDF files to our color printer, they come through with the page size in points rather than inches. This causes the job to fail to print we haven't been able to find a way to fix it.
    It happens both with PDF files she has created and those created by others. We have reinstalled the print drivers and PPD files once already and that didn't help. I also found that she had distiller 3.0 installed and it's preferences were set to points but changing that didn't solve the problem either. I also tried printing a PDF from Adobe Reader 8 and it printed fine. The problem only happens when printing from Acrobat Professional (which is the default application for opening PDF files.)
    Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this problem and how we might fix it?

    Peter,
    I have looked at this again in Pages ’09, and via Page Setup > Paper: Manage Custom Sizes..., it will not let me override the inch measurements.
    Try this to get two decimal places. Double-click the mm value in the paper size to select all, and then just type your mm setting with two decimal places (no mm text designation) and then tab out of that entry window. The two decimal setting is retained.
    This is redundant knowledge, but here is the conversion fluff. Inches in Page Setup may need to be set to approximate closest points. In the Postscript (cough) world, the conversion is:
    1 Point = 0.01388888889 Inch
    And the calculator (with round option).

  • Change page size and get error on Booklet. Why?! Only in CS6...

    Why when we are working with a material of many pages, and all pages have the same measure, and alter the size of each page (in File -> Document Setup), we can no longer generate booklets? I was tested in version CS5 and it worked perfectly in version CS6 gives error:
    "The active document uses multiple pages sizes. Booklet Print works only with documents That use consistent page size."
    I've checked all pages and it all have identical size between them.
    Take a test.
    Open a new file with multiple pages. Try to create a booklet. Will function properly. After this, go to File -> Size and change the page size of the pages. Now try to create a booklet. Will give error.
    I tested in a couple of macs...

    Well I am having this exact issue.
    I have seen many posts in other areas of this discussion and online elsewhere. As it goes, Adobe is going to get sued for this.
    I paid for a working feature of the software in CS6. Simply releasing a new version and forcing the user to pay for a fix to a problem in an old version is not lawful business. It's extorsion. They did not uphold their end of the bargain on the contract of me paying for a working product.
    The owness is on them now to fix the bugs in the current versions of broken software.

  • Hi, I am using Indesign CS6, How to set the page size in Inches.

    Hi, I am using Indesign CS6, How to set the page size in Inches.

    All fields in InDesign can be entered in any measurement system. So, if you want to make an 8"x10" document and go to File>New Document and the window looks like this:
    …you can type either 8 in or 8" into the Width field like this:
    …and when you move to the next field, it will convert the eight inches into the equivalent number in the unit of measure that it is using at the moment, like this:
    … (203.2 milimeters is the same as 8 inches). You can also enter a different measurement unit into other fields once the file is created, such as the width or height of a frame, or the position of an object in the X and Y coordinates.
    If you would rather just work in inches instead of having to type the inches mark or abbreviation, go to InDesign>Preferences>General and select the Units & Increments tab. There you will see Ruler Units for Horizontal and Vertical at the top of the window. Set them to Inches and all of the fields will display in inches. If you do that to an open document, you will change the unit of measure for that document. If you do it while no documents are open, it will change the unit of measure for any new documents you create. To change the unit of measure for existing documents, you will have to open each and make the change.

  • Page size and recoverability

    Hello!
    The document at http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/xml/programmer_reference/transapp_reclimit.html has a statement that for better recoverability, page size should be equal to OS I/O size (this makes sense, reasons are clearly described in the document).
    The default page size on Windows is 8KiB. I am not sure, but I think that Windows I/O size might be as low as sector size (512 bytes on most disks).
    I would like to hear an expert's opinion on this matter:
    1. should I care about page size being larger than OS I/O size in transactional apps?
    2. why default page size on Windows is 8KiB?
    3. what I/O size is atomic on Windows (with and without OS write caching, only NTFS matters)
    4. if I'm correct and Windows does only small I/Os atomically, what steps should be taken to minimize the potential data loss
    5. hot backup also relies on atomic copies -- do the questions raised above affect backup recoverability (both data and logs)?
    Thank you for your attention.

    Hello,
    A similar question is raised in:
    Why is the default page size on Windows 8K?
    As explained there, we choose an 8K default on all platforms where we cannot find an accurate block size. This is because it is generally better - for performance reasons - to write data in chunks larger than the block size. You can turn on checksums to ensure that any page file transfer problem is detected.
    Thanks,
    Sandra

  • Setting page size in cm

    I set centimetres in the preferences of Pages.  But when I go to set the actual page SIZE in Page setup ... the choice is inches.  I remember doing it in centimetres once in the past.  I can't remember how to set the 'Page setup' option to centimetres.  Inches is too big.  There is a discrepancy that shows up with the finished graphic - which has to match to-the-pixel the requirements.  It's only one tiny pixel out ... but I can't upload the file to the replication house, coz it won't accept it.  One pixel.
    All ears,
    Ben

    Good point Jerrold.
    Many users are like our ancestors thinking that the atom is the smaller object.
    They wrongly think that a measure in points is always an entire value.

  • [JS CS5]How to get Custom Page size

    I've been searching the answer of this simple question but looking no way around.
    I have an InDesign document with different page size e.g. left page width is 621 pt. and on the same document right page width is 837 pt.
    Now I need to get the width of pages using script but app.documentPreferences.pageWidth return standard document preset size(621 pt.) not the custom page size.
    Does any one have the Idea to get custom page size using script.
    Thanks in advance
    Mac

    Mac,
    as documentation is showing there are some new properties of "page" since InDesign CS5.
    Among those is:
    bounds    Array of Measurement Unit (Number or String)    readonly    The bounds of the Page, in the format [y1, x1, y2, x2].
    So:
    myPage.bounds
    and pageWidth of the documentPreferences might be:
    myPage.bounds[3]-myPage.bounds[1]
    unless  myPage is transformed (e.g. rotated and/or sheared and/or scaled) with:
    myPage.transform()
    void transform (in: CoordinateSpaces, from: varies, withMatrix: varies[, replacingCurrent: varies][, consideringRulerUnits: bool=false])
    Transform the page item.
    var d = app.activeDocument;
    var myPage = d.pages[0];
    var oldPB = myPage.bounds;
    var rAngle = -45;
    var sAngle = 40;
    var myTransformationMatrix1 = app.transformationMatrices.add({counterclockwiseRotationAngle:rAngle});
    myPage.transform(CoordinateSpaces.INNER_COORDINATES, AnchorPoint.CENTER_ANCHOR, myTransformationMatrix1);
    var myTransformationMatrix2 = app.transformationMatrices.add({clockwiseShearAngle:sAngle});
    myPage.transform(CoordinateSpaces.INNER_COORDINATES, AnchorPoint.CENTER_ANCHOR, myTransformationMatrix2);
    var newPB = myPage.bounds;
    $.writeln(oldPB);
    $.writeln(newPB);
    Now oldPB and newPB will differ a lot.
    So, the question remains: what is a reliable way to show if the myPage was or was not transformed against documentPreferences.pageWidth or if  myPage is of rectangular shape at all. See the possibility of adding a sheer angle to the transformation matrix. Also see screen shot:

  • Newb question: page size and bindings

    Hi all,
    I'm having trouble with two things (probably many more to come).
    1) In the "discover berkeley" presentation, it said I could change the page size in my database. Where is that configurable?
    2) I've read in the manuals that to store values in a key-value pair, I can use an entity (which I am currently using), or I can make it serializable, or creating bindings. My objects are currently composed of 2 ints, a short, a double, and a byte[8]. It's not a complex object, so I don't believe I need to use the serializable stored class catalog or the custom bindings. Is that not the case?
    The entity option seems the easiest. Is it slower to use or something?
    The serializable option makes it sound like I can only store a single primitive. Is that right?
    Please let me know - any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Julian

    Julian,
    Page size is an parameter for the C version of Berkeley DB. We're on the Java Edition forum, so perhaps you mean to be on the forum for the C product - Berkeley DB
    Have you had a chance to read through http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/je/GettingStartedGuide/bindAPI.html ? That's a short overview to bindings, while a comprehensive writeup that walks you through how to pick a binding is at http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/je/collections/tutorial/collectionOverview.html#UsingDataBindings.
    But before you delve too deeply into bindings, you should consider using the Direct Persistence Layer API. That will let you use store and retrieve Java objects directly from Berkeley DB Java Edition or Berkeley DB without managing bindings explicitly.

  • Page has a custom page size message

    On the master pages, on a locked layer, we have a frame whose content is set to "Undefined" that is sized to exactly match the page size. This is so the page trim can easily be seen and measured in PDF and when printed and we've never had any trouble with it before.
    We have a file in which when we change the starting page number that frame goes out of position by 9 pts toward the outside of the pages. When we reapply a master to that page (even if its the SAME master) we get the message "Page ## has a custom page size. This page can retain its current size or be resized to match the new master."
    If we select "Keep current size" the outer frame to mark the page trim stays in the wrong position. If we select "Use master page size" that frame gets set correctly.
    I've checked the page size at all stages using both the page tool and the button on the pages pallet and it shows the page size to be exactly what the rest of the pages and the document are set to, so I don't understand why I'm getting this message.
    The first problem I was made aware of with this file is that when we ran our script to auto flow text the script was overriding the master items on to the page in the wrong position. Thinking it had something to do with the script command (which works correctly on other files) I posted this http://forums.adobe.com/message/5206889#5206889 to the scripting forum.
    Now that I've been made aware of this custom page size message I'm thinking this and the script not working correctly are related.
    Thanks for any insight anyone can offer.
    Ken

    I wondered whether my operator had accidentally changed the page size with the page tool selected and that the sizes showing in the dialog and on the tool bar were, maybe, rounded. When I saw your message I was hopeful that, maybe, the preflight would detect an incorrect page size.
    But, alas, it did not! It is showing on errors.
    Thinking that maybe InD was "seeing" the frame that was sitting outside the page as making the page larger I tried repositioning it and removing it before applying the master. But, I received the message again.
    Thanks for taking the time to respond!

  • How to hide page size at bottom of pdf?

    Hi
    I've created a PDF docuemnt to be viewed on screen wich contains a lot of buttons etc. At the bottom of the page in normal view (we are not using full screen. or reading mode) the page size measurements pop up when the cursor approaches the bottom of the page. this is where my buttons are located and the measurements are obstructing the view of the buttons. Is there any way of hiding or removing this little pop up?
    I know you can make it go away by selecting that it is always in view, but this is a document that is going to be sent out to a lot of people and I can't add instructions for reading. The changes made to the size pop up will have to be made so that the pdf doesn't need any adjustment with concerns to viewing when it leaves me.
    PLEASE HELP!

    This user preference cannot be controlled by a document. You can either set the initial zoom so that the pop-up appears to the left of the page, but that would be screen size dependent, or inform your users what they can do to prevent it by setting the preference.
    Finally, if you set the document to hide the window controls, and the user's preference is set to allow a document to do this, the page size pop-up will not show.

  • Crop to trim: Page size may not be reduced ERROR

    I have a client wanting the complete back catalogue of his journal's hi-res PDFs supplied but without the trim marks, printer's info and bleed. This ought to be easy enough - Acrobat will trim a PDF for me and I can automate the process. Except that it won't. I go Documents > Crop Pages... and set all the options for cropping to  the Trim Box, but nothing happens. If I try putting in the page size measurements manually, I get the error message 'Page size cannot be reduced'. Seeing as I've arrived via the Crop Pages option on the document menu I can't think I'm in the wrong place. Why won't Acrobat crop my pages?
