Measuring the output voltage from a laser detector(photodiode-TSL 250) using PCI-6014?

i am using a photodetector (TSL-250) to detect the different intensity of the laser beam, since the laser beam is passing throught a different depthness of liquid dye. I am measuring the output in voltage form. is there any measurement studio - Visual basic example illustrate this kind of measurement? thanks

Sounds like this is a simple continuous analog input application. Here are some starting points for example code based on which environment you have. Note: the PCI-6014 is supported by both NI-DAQmx (7.1 only) and Traditional NI-DAQ (7.1 and earlier).

  • How to measure the analogy voltage from different source?

    Hi all,
I am trying to measure the voltage generated from a function generator ranged from -2V to +2V. I am trying to use a PCI-6023E for analogy input. I directly connect the voltage output from the generator to one of the analogy input channel, but the reading is not that accurate, it should be 2.4V but sometimes it read 2.6V and sometimes 2.2V or less. I am thinking if anything to do the the ground? Where should the ground of the BNC from the generator should connect to? Someone suggests to use differential input but I have no experience of doing that, any suggestion or example?

  • How to create a block diagram in Labview to measure the output voltage and convert to centimeters (Height measurement)?

Hello. My name is Alex here.
I am now facing a difficulty in creating a Labview diagram whereby the voltage that been created needed to be converted into centimeters.
I have been researching in the internet but to no avail. I need help in creating the diagram. Im using NI DAQ USB-6009 for the sensor and already wrote down the measurement.
    Please help me. Thank you

You can use the attached VI as a sub-VI in your existing program.

  • Possible to measure the output voltage of magsafe2 with a multimeter?

As per subject, I have what i suspect to be a faulty 85w Magsafe 2 adaptor for my MBP Retina and I would like to determine if it is truly the adaptor that is faulty, or weather there is a fault with the MBP itself.
Long story short, the MBP is no longer charging and the LED on the Magsafe 2 connector is no longer coming on, yet was a couple days ago.  I know the obvious answer is that if the MBP is not charging, the adaptor is faulty.  However would the LED come on if for instance, there was damage tio the logic board etc...?
Although nothing has recently happened to either the MBP or adaptor, it did suffer a fall 18 months ago which resulted in a repair via an authroised repairer, although i am not entirely confident with the repairer but was forced to use them by my insurance company.  Admittedly the MBP has worked flawlessly since that repair (aside from a couple of dead pixels but thats another issue) but i cant help but worry that something else is amiss.

I am aware of the pin layout of the connector but i had read that it will not output anything until activated to do so via the control pin (centre) and am unsure if it is possible to safely trigger this in order to get a reading.
I might have tried the suggestion of checking the system information if the MBP was not now dead, but even so, it would not definatively tell me if the fault was in the adaptor or the logic board surely? I mean if it said "connected: no" all that would tell me is that it is not detecting the connection rather than the connection not being there and i am unclear on how the MBP detects this (other than the obvious i am getting power/i am not getting power).
I dont mean to dismiss your help, but coming from an electrical engineering background my instinct is to determine if there is juice coming out of the adaptopr and if not i can take the whole thing in for reapir rather than wait for apple to send me a replacement magsafe adaptor which may or may not solve my problem.

  • Can I change the output voltage

I am using NI Elvis board.
I measured the digital output voltage and it was approximately 2.3 volt.
can I increase the output voltage to ,for example, 5 volt.

    GDE [DE]
    thank you for your replay.
I mentioned this problem to one of my instructors. he told that the needed current to operate the relays is larger than the borad can supply. therefore, the output voltage droped from 5 volt to 2.3 volt.
he suggested a buffer and the relays worked.

  • Reading the status of the output voltage

    Hello,
I am using a 6703 card which is a static analog voltage output card.  At some point in my program, once I write to the output voltage channels, I would like to read back this output voltage from the card.  How can I do that?  Is there a property node that spits out the value of the voltage output? I tried using the DAQmx read functionality, but without any success.  I also looked at the possiblity of using the DAQmx Channel property node, but I couldn't find what I am looking for.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advanced for your kind help.
    Best wishes

    Hey Ibn7alal,
Unfortunately, since the 6703 is an AO device only, it isn't possible to read the internal value of the AO as this would require an AI channel. This forum may provide further information for reference:
Read the Current Voltage Output of an Analog Output Channel
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/read-the-current-voltage-output-of-an-analog-output-channel/td-p/168...
If you simply wish to be able to access the value that you sent into the AO, then you may consider a local variable. Hope this helps!

  • PLOT THE OUTPUT VOLTAGE WITH RESPECT TO TIME

I have VI that is controlling the Standford Research power supply model PS350. I am using existing NI drivers for this instrument.
I wanted to know what would be the easiest/fastest way of taking the multiple readings of the output voltage at the different point in time and then plotting the voltage versus time.
Any directions and suggestions are appreciated.
    thanks,
    Pedja

I cannot tell you any specific information about your device but if you want to plot your data in LabVIEW, I recommend using an XY Graph. This graph allows you to associate a specific y with a specific x. Consequently you can plot data where the time between the sample changes. Look in the LabVIEW shipping examples for an XY Graph example.

  • What is the fastest way to calculate the rms voltage from a large voltage measurement file?

I have collected voltage measurements for a 60Hz waveform and would like to calculate the RMS voltage in order to determine voltage drift. The data was collected at 100KHz and the TDMS file is 4 hours long (a huge amount of data!). I have run the RMS tool in the basic mathematics block with small sets of data successfully, but the large set seems to take forever to run (48 hours so far and it hasn't finished yet).
    1. Is there a faster way to analyze this much data?
    2. How does the "one sided interval width" affect my results and analysis time?
    3. Can I calculate the RMS voltage with FFT?
    4. Is there a way to redce the size of my data file to a manageable size file so the RMS function will run quickly, yet maintain accuracy?

    Hi Dave,
Just a thought, If you have a 60 Hz signal, then the 100 Khz is way overkill for the sampling rate,   If you would resample the waveform at  say 20 X 60 hz= 1200 Hz you should have the same details  that would be in the 100 Khz sample signal.  That should take substantially less time to do a RMS calculation on the resampled channel. The two commands are listed below.

  • Is there anyway to read the unscaled voltage from a scaled virtual channel?

I am using DAQmx to read voltage from a SCXI chassis. Programmically in Labview I created a task with virtual channels and custom scales. Later in the program, I wish to view the scaled volatge and the raw voltage at the same time. Is there a property node which will allow me to do so?

Hi Fergusonhd -- yes, there is a way to do this --> Look in DAQmx-> DAQmxAdvanced-> Scale -> Scale Property node.
Drop it in and wire in your scale.(I did it by creating a constant for active_scale) Select the various attributes depending on the type of scale you created and manipulate your signals based on that information - For ex. if you created a linear scale, you could get information about the slope and intercept from this property node -- that being said, you can use this information and do the reverse logic:
    [if original was Y=aX+b]
    X = (Y-b)/a
where b is the Y intercept and a is the slope
    Hope this helps

  • Can the output voltage during boot-up of the CFP-AIO-610 module be held to zero?

During power on or reset of the system the analog outputs go to 10V instead of 0V. Once the system is up and resonsive the default value kicks in and the level goes to 0V. Is there a way to keep the voltage near zero during a reset?

When the voltage is reading 10V, do you have any load connected, or is the output channel connected directly your multimeter/scope? If the channel is left open, that might lead it to charge to the positive rail (10V). Try putting a resistor across the output terminals and see if it still reads 10V during boot up.
    Let me know the results...

  • Shall I use NRSE or RSE mode for reading the output voltage of my sensor?

    Hello,
I am using a  gaz sensor that needs a power supply of 24 V and has an output voltage  : 0 -> 10 V. I want to read this voltage with labview( and then convert it to PPMs ).
My problem : I don't know what kind of analog input connection I must use : RSE ou NRSE ? ( I suppose the DIFF mode isn't appriopriate here ) .
I think I should use the NRSE mode ( meaning connecting the V+ of the 0-10V signal to one of the ACH and the V- to  AISENSE )  ???
Any help would be really great,
    Regards,
    David
    PS : using Labview 7.1

    Hi David,
It basically all boils down to if the signal source is grounded or floating? If grounded use DIFF for low voltages (0-2V) and NRSE for high (above 2V). If the signal is floating use RSE.
