Medal of Honor PowerPC
I bought an old FPS classic that I used on my Windows machine. This was brand new in, in the box and wrapped and on the outside it showed it was compatable with Mac (or so I thought). It had a little squre Mac miley face logo on the game.
It is the Medal of Honor: Breakthrough edition.
It will not play.
My Mac will not support "PowerPC"? What is that and what do I have to do to get the game rnning. The ealy MOH games were fun on Windows and I would just like to try this old game on my brand new Mac Book Pro since I have not found a lot of FPS games I would like for the Mac.
Thanks!
From the message, it appears you are trying to eject the Crossover disk image. It also appears that Crossover is still running, or left something running. You might try logging out then back in (or restarting). Another option is to start Activity Monitor, find Crossover on the list of processes, stop that process, then eject the disk image.
From the Crossover site, these are the Medal of Honor games that have been tested or reported on:
Allied Assault Breakthrough, if that is one of the ones you have, gets a "silver" medal, meaning it runs well but is not flawless.

Install Medal of Honor: Allied Assault on Mac OS X
Greetings!
I have Medal of Honor instalation CD's since the old Mac OS 9 and it worked. The game was also builted for the Mac OS X and both Aspyr and Apple confirms that it runs on int.
However I can't make it run, no matter what! :S
So I created this pdf with screenshots for you to follow my steps...
PDF Link: http://turkish.planetaclix.pt/MOHAA.pdf
Please take your time to read it
I'm running the latest Mac OS X version on my 17" PowerBook.. Radeon 9700, 1,5GB Ram... etc etc... I don't think this is relevant. S
So please help me out if you can :S
ThanksThere appears to be a Mac OS X update:

As you can see from some of the reviews on some Macs there are issues running it on 10.4. E-mail Aspyr to make sure it gets updated. -

Do you know what kind of graphics card you are supposed to have? Try to reinstall the drivers for your model. Click this link to go the HP Support. You can click "Automatically detect it" to get the right model. It should take you to the support page for your model. It will have the drivers you need.

You probably need a dedicated graphics card for those games. Intel HD Graphics isn't made for gaming. -

Medal of Honor Airborne will not install on Windows 8.1
So I have had this game since it came out and could never play it because my XP did not support it. Thats 7 years ago for anyone keeping score. So the wife bought me a new HP Beatsaudio laptop with Windows 8.1 and I'm thinking I can now play the game. Not so fast because it won't load. From what I can find on the internet is I need to remove the PhysX that is installed and let the game load the version with the disk. This did not work. Any suggestions from anyone? Thanks in advance!

Medal Of Honor crashes on startup!
iMac G5 OS 10.3.9
I had been running MOH successfully until I experienced system problems and did an erase and install from the discs that came with the computer. I reinstalled MOH and now it crashes when I get to the startup screen. Any suggestions?By chance, did you check to see what version of java or other (incl java script) and other things
this system in your computer now has running inside? After upgrading the install using Software
Updates and checking backward online at Apple Support> downloads, there could be some parts
that aren't back to the level you had the machine before needing to reinstall everything.
This instance is where owning an external enclosed bootable hard disk drive and making clones
would be very handy. You can clone the entire computer's drive contents as a bootable volume, too.
Assuming you ran 'repair disk permissions' and other details while installing and upgrading the
replacement OSX inside your machine, and maybe downloaded and ran the donationware OnyX
for Panther from Titanium Software online (in the automated mode) and keep the system in order,
the answers and some questions would be different.
Some 10.3.9 systems were arrived at through alot of steps earlier, and now there maybe be
fewer of them online. I recall mine had a javascript update and a way to see which one was
running; there also was a Flash player and other software updates available and I did those.
So, maybe some of these other items need to be looked into.
Hopefully it isn't too drawn out of a procedure to get back on track.
Best regards! -

Hard disk Space: 2.6GB free disk space
Video card (ATI): ATI Radeon 7500 or better
Video card (NVidia): GeForce2 MX or better
Video memory (VRAM): 32 MB or higher
Media required: DVD drive for installation and playThe answer to (1) is yes. for OSX, there hasn't yet been a full-number release (they're all v10). Point releases come out every couple years or so, and usually cost about $130. So if you had 10.4 and wanted to upgrade to 10.5, you'd have to buy it. But updated numbers after the second point are free. So if you have 10.5, then 10.5.5 is a free download.
Question (2) I'm less sure about, but I would guess that all of those games would probably work. They don't list the particular video card in the Macbook as "Supported", but it's newer than the cards listed. All the other requirements are met.
From the requirements listed, I would guess that "medal of honor war chest" is a PPC game, which means it will probably run on the Intel Macbook, but under emulation. I think usually the newer Intels are fast enough that running PPC stuff under emulation should be fine, but I don't do much of that so I can't speak from experience.
I sometimes install Windows on a second partition on my Macs so I can dual boot, just for games. So there's that option too. -
HT1338 Why can't I play my games on my new MAC ?
Medal of Honor Allied Assault is one of my games that won't download, why?
Playing PowerPC games on Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) installed into Parallels in Lion or Mt. Lion:
Full Snow Leopard installation instructions here:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1365439
NOTE: STEP ONE of the instructions must currently be completed on a Snow Leopard or Lion Mac and the resulting modified Snow Leopard.cdr install file can then be moved over to your Mountain Lion Mac for completion of the remaining steps. A recent poster has offered a solution for Mountain Lion users that do not have access to Snow Leopard or Lion Macs.
NOTE 2: Computer games with complex, 3D or fast motion graphics make not work well or at all in virtualization. -
I'm thinking about upgrading from my 20" G5 iMac to a new 24" 2.8 iMac and was curious about a few games. I'm not a big gamer by any means, but do enjoy Call of Duty and Medal of Honor. Both of these are PowerPC based. I assume I will need to repurchase these as Universal?
As mediocre as the imac is for games, you would want an Intel version of any game for sure - at least for any demanding game. It all depends on how taxing the game is on the computer. I'd look for some forums that are specific to your games and ask other gamers with similar computers because each game is very unique in its requirements. After 200 days of accumulated WoW playing, I can say I am no longer a gamer .

Imac G5 FPS slower in Mohaa since 10.5.6 install
I am running a 1.9 Ghz PowerPC G5 with OS X 10.5.6 and a ATI Radeon X600 Pro graphics card installed. This little gem of an upgrade promised better gaming performance, but I am running much lower FPS while plaiying Medal of Honor allied assault. Does anyone have any thoughts?
I had this same problem with WoW. There is a different install that you can install separately that seems to have helped out considerably. Im still running fairly low frame rates but its at least playable now. It was nearly unplayable before i did this. I can't find the link right now....i am still at work but i have it at home. I will post it when i get home tonight

I have a few games for my powerbook that I still love to play - Ghost Recon and Medal of Honor if that's relevant. What's the performance going to be like if they run under Rosetta? Can anyone give me an idea.
Ultimately, if any game has a PowerPC G3 listed in it's system requirements (which MoH does) then the MBP will do just fine.
Not necessarily. While I don't trust Macrumors for anything else (because they engage in a lot of speculation of future products which is not good by terms of use on this board) they have a good guide on what's compatible with Rosetta and what's not as far as games:
http://guides.macrumors.com/UniversalBinaryGames
Some games because of their driver specific requirements will not run on Intel Macs in Rosetta. -
Can I play PS3 games on my MacBook Pro?
Can I play PS3 games on my MacBook Pro? I want to run PS3 games on a MBP. I have Medal of Honor and that's the only game I like on the PS3. And does anyone know any good shooting games like shadowgun deadzone. Something offline and that's pretty fun. Someone help me pls.
The XBox uses three PowerPC processors that run very very hot and need constant power and Mac's use Intel processors that run very cool in comparison.
It would take a complete rewrite of the entire games code to make it work on a Mac.
So in short, it can't be done. Sorry.
But I'll clue you 2 free 3D games you can run on your MacBook Pro
Cube 2 Suaerbraten and Nexiuz Classic. That should help get you by. -
Macbook Conquered??
Hi folks, I am running Command and Conquer Generals on my macbook and it seems to be going painfully slow compared to the video reviews that are shown on the internet. i wasnt expecting it to run as fast some super duper gaming desktop PC, but does anyone know how i could speed it up?? or is this just the way it is on the MB??
thanksThese are the system requirements for C&C Generals deluxe edition :
Command & Conquer Generals™ Deluxe Edition
Platforms: Mac
Genre: Strategy/Simulation
ESRB: Teen
Mac Release Date: March 2006
System Requirements:
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later
CPU Processor: PowerPC G4 or later
CPU Speed: 1GHz or faster
Memory: 256 MB or higher
Hard Disk Space: 2.8GB free disk space
Video Card (ATI): Radeon 7500 or better
Video Card (NVidia): GeForce2 MX or better
Video Memory (VRam): 32 MB or higher
Media Required: DVD Drive
The radeon 7500 (which I have in my Quicksilver) or the Geforce 2 MX are hardly fast cards. My 32 Mb Radeon 7500 runs Warcraft 3, Wolfenstein, Medal of Honor, Jedi Knight perfectly at 800x600. Go anything higher than that and it's jerkatron all the way. Now C&C is a game that came out for mac, say, 2 years ago ? If a game with these system requirements doesn't run on a 2006 notebook with a dual core processor, then I guess it's safe to say that, other than Tetris, you won't be able to play any game on a macbook. Still, I've heard from people who play world of warcraft just fine on a macbook. And those sys reqs are a lot higher than those of C&C. Actually, what you're saying, is that a new macbook won't run a two year old game no better than my four year old powermac G4. I've always thought of my graphics card as slow and sub par (I didn't buy the system for games in the first place). So if the intel GMA950 is no better or even worse than my radeon, I won't bother with the macbook.
Oh, and don't buy an xbox360. They suck. Get a Wii or a PS3. -
Lock ups and other joyous occasions!
Hello everyone. I obviously am having some difficulties, and I came here for help. I currently am running a MSI KT4AV-L MB, a Athlon Xp 1800+ proccessor @ 266 fsb, 2 512 mb Micron pc2100 RAM modules, a ATI Radeon 8500LE (128mb version) graphics card, and a Sounblaster Live! Value sound card. Just to get it out of the way, my power supply specs are as follows;3.3v=28A,5v=36A, 12v=16A, -5v=0.5A, -12v= 0.8A and the 5vsb=3A. The power supply itself is a echostar 480w dual fan unit. I have Windows Xp Pro with sp2 installed, a fresh install, and all of my drivers, including the chipset, are current. I Also noted on VIA's website that Microsoft released a unified AGP driver with sp2, so I did not install Via's AGP driver, as it stated on their site. Now, for the trouble.
My old rig (the only difference was a Asus A7A266 board) would constantly lock up whenever I tried to play Medal of Honor. After testing everything out, I decided it was probably just the old Ali chipset (the Asus used the Ali magik 1 chipset) and I purchased the MSI board listed above. Well, I just finished beating Medal of Honor, but my favorite game, Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, now is locking up just like Medal of Honor used to! The entire PC locks up, I cant even get the caps lock key or numlock key indicators to light up or go off when it locks up! I,ve tried turning off and on every AGP setting in the BIOS, I've tried using the onboard audio vs the Sounblaster card, I've tried turning down the settings in the DRAM setting in BIOS, all to no avail. IM really, really upset by this-I LOVE ET, and Im really mad :waiting:I "fixed" one problem, and am havng another. I cant see any of my hardware being the issue now-if it were a bad ram chip, weak psu, IRQ sharing issue, driver problem, bad cluster on the hdd, I would have found it by now. Any suggestions?Hello,
Some questions first
Are both memory sticks the same? model, revision?
Have you tried memtest with only 1 stick at a time yet?
Could you try this,
Enter the BIOS make sure your settings are on AUTO.
XP1800+ should be 1.53Ghz
Memory on SPD.
Disable all Spread spectrum options
Set the AGP size to 128mb.
Save and exit.
Reinstall your windows XP with SP2, (SP2 integrated to the CD?)
Then install the VIA 4in1 drivers (forget the microsoft AGP driver)
http://www.viaarena.com/downloads/drivers/4in1/via_hyperion%204%20in%201_v453v.zip
restart and then install ATi catalyst v4.8
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/wxp-w2k-catalyst-8-042-040803a-016701c.exe
restart, wait a bit the screen should flicker.
Now try ET.
