  • Photo thumbnails not displaying in Media Browser

Every time I open a program that features the Media Browser (which is just about everything in Leopard, these days), I never see thumbnails for my iPhoto images. I just see exclamation point icons-- in other words, the images themselves are never displayed.
In iPhoto, I can see individual pictures, but not events. For events, the images are just embossed "blank" boxes. I don't understand what's happening... can anyone offer some help so I can get my Media Browser working the way it's supposed to... along with iPhoto?

  • No thumbnails in PP Media Browser

    Hello,
I am working on MacOS X with Adobe CS4 Production Premium. Our footage is either Sony XDCAM EX or AVCHD. The XDCAM files are copied via Sony's Clip Browser, i.e. with the complete BPAV structure. The AVCHD files are transfered via iMovie, resulting in .mov files with the Apple Intermediate codec. The reason being that Canon does not deliver any transfer software for Mac with its AVCHD camcorders.
Anyway, the result usually is quite a bunch of directorys and files, that would be great if it could be browsed easily. Unfortunately, Adobe Bridge can only show the transfered AVCHDs, not the XDCAM EX files. The media browser on the other hand does not allow for quick browsing, since it does not show any thumbnails. Neither for the movs nor for the XDCAM files. I only get a list of the file names. These are not helpfull at all, since that only tells me which camera was used and the order in which the clips where shot.
Now I saw on Adobe TV a video from MAX 2009 with a screencapture of Premiere with the media browser open and thumbnails all over the place. This is what I wished for all the time. Why do I not get thumbnails in media browser?
    Kind regards,
    Andreas

Why do I not get thumbnails in media browser?
Currently, these only work with DVCPro HD media from P2 cards.

  • No thumbnails or ability to import in Media browser

    Ae CC 13.0, Windows 7 / 64.
My Ae media browser shows icons with file names - but no thumbnails - and the right clip import option is greyed out. Same for all file types. File directory and All supported file types are selected in the filter menus.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

These are known issues with the Media Browser panel in After Effects. You can import items by double-clicking or dragging into the Project panel.
We don't currently recommend the Media Browser for most After Effects users, as it provides little additional functionality over existing import methods. It was added to After Effects for compatibility with Adobe Anywhere, and lacks some of the capabilities available in Premiere Pro. Feel free to test it, and please report problems or requests for improvements here: http://adobe.ly/feature_request

  • No thumbnails inside media browser

I love the new media browser inside AE, but it serves me no good if I cannot see any thumbnails to my XdCam footage. Any possible reason this is happening? Bug? Codec issue? Any help thanks!

That feature is not implemented yet.
The Media Browser implementation in After Effects CC (12.2) is just the bare minimum necessary for Adobe Anywhere.
We will be implementing more of the features in the Media Browser in the next couple of releases in 2014. No promises, but I think that the features that you're looking for regarding thumbnail previews will come in the second half of this year, of all goes well.

  • Fixing "media offline" thumbnail in browser and timeline

I accidently had my Lacie hard drive disconnected improperly. I had saved all work before this accident occured, but when I reopened up FCP, although most files were fine, some of them have only in the browser and timeline appear now with the red and black image with white "media offline" thumbnail. This seems strange as those same files play fine just as before when opened in the viewer or canvas. I tried to ctrl click them and then "reconnect them", but they still have the correct path, but how do I get things back the way they were in my browser and timeline?

When you play those clips, is the media there? If so, then the problem is a corrupt Thumbnail Cache. Look in the System Settings menu item and see where Thumbnail Cache is set to.
Then, Quit FCP, open a Finder window and navigate to that location. Trash the Thumnail Cache file (not the data file), Empty the Trash, and then reload Final Cut. The thumbnails should rebuild themselves.
    Please report back.

  • PP CS6 Media Browser displays thumbnails upside down

    Hi,
    I'm using a 2010 MacBook Pro 17" 3.06 GHz, 4GB RAM,
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M GT, OS 10.6.8 and PP CS6.02.
When I'm viewing stills in media browser, it's displaying many of the thumnails upside down and side ways.
Not sure what else to say about it or do.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Simon.

PP won't reorient stills that were taken with the camera turned on it's side for portrait shots, so I wonder if that's what you're seeing here.  The shooter had the camera turned or even upside down at the time.

  • Why doesn't my files show up in the "MEDIA BROWSER"?

I recently shot footage on my SONY CX-550 HD camcorder.  Each day's footage was downloaded to my desktop in separate folders ( DAY_01, DAY_02... thru DAY_08 ).  There are many clips in each folder ( 00000.mts, 00001.mts, etc. ).  In PPRO CS5's "MEDIA BROWSER" I can see the clips in all the folders except DAY_02 and DAY_08.  If I move a clip out of the folder to another location ( DESKTOP ), the "MB" still does not list it.  I can, however, drag the clip from the DAY_02 folder into the PROJECT WINDOW and the plays correctly in the SOURCE WINDOW.  I use the "MB" to quickly review a clip by double-clicking it.  Having to drag each one into the "ProjWin" for review is time consuming as is reviewing the clip thru Windows Media Player.  BRIDGE CS5 displays a thumbnail for each clip as expected.  So, why does the contents of just these two folders not display in "MB"?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sonny Gaither

You're welcome.  My mistake, I completely misread your question. Unfortunately currently  I don't have any email threads to check it out, just replys from the Apple Support Communities.Sorry.

  • Premiere cs6 does not see correct images in media browser

    Hi Folks,
I'm working on a project in CS6 Premiere (On an iMac with Mavericks running) and I cannot get the Media Browser to correctly see/import the still images (JPGs) I want to use. Instead, it sees all 8 images as the same image, though with different file names. I've reopened Premiere a few times, closed and opened Bridge a few times, renamed the files (Premiere still sees the original file names). Is it a matter of clearing the cache? If so, can someone explain that process?
    Thanks for your help!

    Thanks Ann,
I tried that but Premiere is still seeing its original view of the images (all thumbnails are the same) - the newly saved image doesn't even show  up in the Media Browser.

  • Most aperture photos not showing in media browser

I have Aperture 1.5 and I can view all of my albums from the media browser, but when I click on an album, most of the thumbnails are exclamation points and they wont drag into any pages documents. Some photos in the albums show up and they go into my documents just fine.
I have gone into aperture and selected ALL 13,508 photos and forced thumbnail regeneration, but I am still having the same problem.

Try highlighting the thumbnail of the slide you want to play, before clicking 'play'.

  • Media browser is NOT playing the game!

PLEASE can someone tell me why my media browser won't show me my photos or movies! Audio is no problem (the one section i hardly use) but iWeb is NO GOOD TO ME without my photos! This has been going on for several weeks now and I am at my wits end. PLEASE can someone shed some light here. Many thanks in advance.
    MacBook Pro 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Janet,
I got tripped up once by the 'manual scroll' in the media window...there's a tiny little dot at the bottom in the center that you can drag up or down to reveal the thumbnails--make sure this isn't the problem!
Assuming it isn't, see this thread for some more approaches to solving this.

  • Working with XDCAM HD in Media Browser window (CS6)

Is it just me, or is this unusably slow?
I have a PDW-F70 deck hooked up via Firewire to my PC (Windows 7 64-bit) but when I mount a XDCAM HD disc and try to browse the contents in Premiere's Media Browser window (or in Predulde's Ingest window) then it takes what seems like forever to download and display the thumbnails and low res proxies. Is Premiere trying to do someting different?  It's so incredibly slow that I'm thinking it might actually be trying to download and cache the full hi-res media before letting me browse ... but when it finally does finish, once the clip thumbnails do eventually display, then it is still taking forever to display them in the source/external display if and when I select one in the browser window ... and heaven help me if I try to actually play one of these clips.
Does this scenario sound at all familar to anyone? I'm guessing I have a basic settings issue ... either that or I am maybe just misunderstanding how this function works with XDCAM HD in Premiere.
For what it's worth, using Grass Valley's Edius app with the exact same hardware, setup and connections etc and browsing the media using their own "Source Browser" window (which is basically their version of Premiere's Media Browser window), then I can almost instantly view thumbnails and browse the XDCAM HD low res proxies, make my selections and import whats needed ... same goes if I'm using Sony's own XDCAM Browser app.
Clearly I'm a bit lost at this point and am hoping someone can help me out.
    Thanks in advance
    Andy

This is a known issue in PP.  Adobe has elevated the priority, but for now you'll just have to wait until thumbs are draw for better responsiveness.
In the meantime, please do report the bug as unusable for you.  The more that do, the more urgency will be attached to a fix.

  • IPhoto. Media Browser and Photobooth.

    Good afternoon.
Some students at our school find that the Media Browser will not display thumbnails of their Photobooth images. This happens in all the 'iApps' that use the Media Browser.
I can't see any differences between the configurations of directories and preferences for students who can use the Media Browser successfully and those who can't. We would appreciate any help.
    Thanks in advance.

Is there any way to have the My Pictures folder or Desktop also included as options?
I don't think this is possible with Apple's Media Browser. But you could try this free one with which you can browse photos from iPhoto/Aperture/Lightroom library, Pictures folder, *and other predefined folders*. Click on the image:
