Media Buttons With iTunes

I have a Saitek Eclipse II keyboard, which has media buttons on it for being used with music. It has buttons to switch to the next and previous song, stop, play, and volume control. All of these work fine when I am in the actual iTunes window, but when I have internet explorer or something else up the hotkeys don't work. I've talked with people who said they have the same issue, but their media buttons work with other music playing programs such as Winamp. Just wondering if anything can be done to get my buttons to work with iTunes. Thanks.

I speculate that your keyboard drivers have to support this function; i.e. you have to ask the keyboard manufacturer to implement that function.

Finally i got an answer from itunes store support about my question.
If somebody have the same questions as i, here i would write some text from the massage of apple support.

Using media buttons in itunes on Equium P200

Is it possible to use the media buttons on my Equim P-200 notebook in itunes when its not the open window?
They work if ive got it open but not if its not. This doesnt really help me much because i could just hit space.
Are there some setting somewhere i can change to fix this

Don't know how to fix this in detail, as I have some "problem" with Media Player Classic, which only work with those buttons, when focus lies on this program.
So, maybe you can make a work-around, if you can change some itune window settings, to be always on top, so that it has focus all the time.
Then, not to disturb you on your desktop, you could resize window and position the small window somewhere it does not bother you.

Dell laptop media buttons and iTunes?

I have a dell laptop and love iTunes. However, the media buttons on the front only work when iTunes has focus. I have heard of a plug-in that allows it to grab the commands at anytime. Could anyone here direct me to that plug-in?

I have the same problem with my HP laptop media controls. In iTunes 7.1.x, the volume keys on my laptop double registered whenever iTunes was open and not focused on the program, so the volume would go up/down twice at one push and when pressing mute, it would actually mute then unmute as you released the button. However, the play/pause, stop, ff/rev keys worked fine.

Sync local media library with iTunes Match after format

iTunes Match is a wonderful service but there's one thing that's really making me hate it.
I'm the type of person that uses multiple computers and that probably formats more than he should.
So here's my issue.
Pre-format
1) I match my 12,000 songs library with iTunes Match
2) Once done my songs are in sync with the cloud meaning that the content I play is local and it updates through the cloud at the same time
Post-format
1) I reinstall iTunes 11
2) I change iTunes advanced preferences to point to my original and untouched media path and I check both options underneath.
3) I sign into my account and turn iTunes Match ON
4) iTunes Match does its thing
Now here's my gripe. Every single song has the download from cloud button. Every song I play streams from the cloud even though I pointed my library to my original media path. Why won't iTunes sync the cloud with my local files just like it was before the format ?
Re-adding the whole media folder to my new (not backed-up) library will only create a 12,000 duplicate songs in the cloud to make matters worse.
So my question is : is there any way to preserve what I had prior to formating ? Having to wipe my cloud content and rematch my local files after every single format is non-sense.

No, you will not need to add anything if you drop, at minimum, the iTunes Library.itl file into the User/Music/iTunes folder. Ideally you would restore all the library files, though. As long as the path isn't different, say you created a User Account with a different name from the original, it should be fine.

Yes, you can run the iTunes library off an external HDD, no problem. However, I believe the best way to do that is to set the path in iTunes Prefs. Also, keep in mind that if the external is not connected iTunes will not be able to find the files and it will not defaul to streaming the music from the cloud. And you should still have a backup scheme in place.

Keyboard play buttons with iTunes 7

Hi,
I used to use MultiPlugin for iTunes 6 to operate my iTunes controls with the keyboard, however this won't install on iTunes 7. Does anyone have any other way to do this?

You best bet is to wait abit til there able to "Catch up" and release an update so it does work with iTUnes 7 since iTunes 7 is a major update rewritting alot of its underpinnings

Media Sync with iTunes

The first time I used Media Sync to sync album art with my Blackberry Curve it worked fine. I wiped out all the info on my SDHC and wanted to reload album art. Everytime I choose the option to import iTunes album art I get the message "iTunes is busy, please try again later"

Home Media Server with iTunes...Please Help!

Hello,
My goal:
Set up mac mini as iTunes server that stores music on NAS.
I want to be able to connect with multiple laptops.
Also, I want to be able to purchase from the laptops and download to the NAS so that all of my libraries are the same.
Is there a way to configure this in iTunes, or do I need to use a 3rd party application( If so, boooo apple).

Blackberry Media Sync with itunes

Ok so i downloaded the media sync for my bb8320 and when i tried to put songs on they said that the songs were "protected (digital rights managment)". How do i put these songs on my bb

Lets see if the computer is able to identify that something is plugging through the USB. Right click My Computer and select Properties to open Device Manager.
Click on the plus sign next to "Universal Serial Bus Controllers, Plug in you BlackBerry Device.
- You should notice a entry for RIM Composite Device or BlackBerry Device will pop up.
If you continue to have issues i would download and install both BB Desktop Manager and BB Device Software.
Also have you attempt to us another USB port?

MBA 13" media buttons not working with iTunes

I just got my mba 13" and everything is great, but for some reason the media buttons do not work with itunes. I've tried them with vlc and other applications and they work fine. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Linking media touch buttons on GT740 with iTunes.

Just wondering if it's possible to link the top touch buttons, located next to the eco, movie mode, cam, bluetooth, wireless and predefined user key button to operate with iTunes.
So far the only way they interact with iTunes is if I have iTunes screen on top, at which point it's easier to use the arrow keys or mouse. It'd be nice to be able to control iTunes while having another program (game) currently on top.

ITunes 10.5 and Microsoft keyboard media keys with IntelliType Installed

Hi. I just updated to iTunes 10.5 and the media keys (play/pause, back, and forward buttons -- the latter two of which have been mapped to previous and next track respectively) on my Microsoft Ergonomic 4000 keyboard no longer work when iTunes in minimized. It works fine if iTunes is the active window. I tried installing the latest version of IntelliType (v8.2) and the installation notified me that I already have the latest version. I had no problems with the older version of iTunes (10.4).
Is anyone else having this problem? Any solutions? Thanks in advance!

I managed a different FIX. This is just for Microsoft Multimedia keyboard (I have Microsoft 8000)
I uninstalled Microsoft Intellitype 8.1 that I had and then installed the newer 8.2 Version.
Before I did that I Downgraded to Itunes 10.3 64x like someone else said, but it did not help.
If this fix don't work with Itunes 10.5 then Downgrade like I did, It easier..No copying of files needed.
After you uninstall Itunes 10.5 and Install 10.3, it give you an error for your library.
So you press "SHIFT" and then open ITUNES.
then you go to "My Music\iTunes" folder inside your genereal music folder, it should be there. (WIN 7)
then to "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and you should have a backup or and some kind of old "itunes Library folder" files...you choose one of them and Itunes opens fine with all playlist and everything.
Now everything workd find.

I after all this this does not work, might be because I installed Itune 10.3 before the new Intellitype 8.2.
So try Uninstalling Intellitype 8.2 again.
Then reinstall it...maybe it does things when Installing...I don't know.

Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
