Media buttons

I have a hp pavilion dv7 3183, my media buttons are not working. it shows red for the wireless and mute button regardless of their status, and the sound buttons will not increase or decrese when pressed. Is there a way to get them to work again?

Do they work if the Fn key is depressed while you use them?

Palm Desktop 6.2 hangs on "media" button

Recently I purchased a Palm Centro and last night installed the Desktop software 6.2 on top of the previous 4.1.4, which I had for my Tungsten E (as the instructions indicate). Things seemed to go okay, but every time I hit the "media" button on the software, the progress bar gets about a third of the way complete before it hangs. I've tried rebooting, etc., but to no avail.
Any ideas?

I've just upgraded from my old Tungsten T2 which died on me to a Tungsten Tx which I bought second hand from ebay this week. It came without the install disk so I downloaded the currrent PDT software for Tx from the Palm download site. I am running Windows XP Home on my laptop and an old PC and Windows Vista 64 bit on my new PC. Given the problems with Vista 64 bit version I have been relying on my lap top. However having sorted out most of the teething problems I am still left with the same probl;em as you, everything seems to work and hotsunc correctly but as soon as I press the media tab the progress bar states that it is loading.... then hangs after about a third of the progress. Pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL shows that the application is not responding. I can bluetooth images to my palm from my phone and I suspect if I put the images onto an SD card the Palm will recognise them, but I can't use PDT to manage the media. So if anyone else has any suggestions I would also be interested to hear them.

No Media Button using Palm Desk top 6.2 and Windows Vista

I installed Palm Desk Top on my XP machine today and noticed a Media Button. I have been using the same version of Palm Desk Top on MY laptop which runs Vista Home Premium. How can I get the Media button on my Vista machine?

This version of Palm Desktop (and Hotsync) are from Access (the company that acquired PalmSource). Palm does not own these applications and may not have legal rights to modiify them any longer.
Access provided the absolute minimum and did not include any enhancements that Palm made to prior versions of these applications when Palm and PalmSource had better working relations.
Access is currently primarily interested in getting their competing operating system to market.

Can I use media buttons for Winamp on my Satellite A100?

As far as I know it is not possible. I have tried it with older notebook models but without success. It works just with Microsoft Media player.
For a long time ago Toshiba has had a small player installed on a few units (dont remember which notebook models) and it was possible to use them with this Toshiba designed player.

Media Buttons not working

Hi,
I used to use ubuntu and my laptop's media buttons (rewind/prev, next, play/pause and stop) worked, and i could register them as keyboard shortcuts. However, in Arch they don't. I loaded up the ubuntu live cd, copied the entire X11 folder and, after backing up my own, copied that over. this didn't work. Where else would the information regarding my keyboard mapping be in ubuntu, or have i missed a file? It's a satellite a50 if anyone needs to know, and i have not upgraded to the latest kernel, im 1 behind.

SOLVED!--Media Buttons not working and TVAP will NOT uninstall

I have a A660D-STNX2 running WIN 7 sp 1.
The media buttons have stopped working and all threads concerning this have one reinstalling TVAP. Trying that has not changed functionality. I believe it is because I cannot uninstall TVAP. Uninstall gives a an immediate error of RegDBGetItem failed (1) . Which I think means the registry does not contain the item to be removed.
Any ideas will be appreciated.
UPDATE!!
Was able to restore backup of registry, then could uninstall TVAP. Installed updated TVAP (from web site) and buttons were assigned wrong, went back to orginal TVAP from Toshiba Application Installer ({start}-{my toshiba}-{tai})
All is well now.

Please don't be mad on my but I don't understand your question. These buttons are by default set to run with preinstalled Windows media player. If you don't like them simply don't touch them.
I just know that you can change settings for browser and multimedia button and define which application should be open with these buttons.
Anyway such option is not known to me.

Today I got my M40X and i have a question.
There are 5 media Button left of the keybord (CD/DVD, Play/pause, Stop, <-/->)
Is it possible to use them with WinAmp?
In the Toshiba Assist i got the CD/DVD button used to start WinAmp (by use him to start a .exe) but the Play/pause...dont work. In the field media Apps the only Player i can choose is Win MP10 (I hate this piece of sh*t).
How can I use these Button with WinAmp?

Trying to add social media buttons to muse

Have tried for hours to intall media buttons like facebook and others. Seen videos that say post html to hyperlinks. My hyperlinks tab has add or filter links. Cant post on top of that? What to do...

Using media buttons in itunes on Equium P200

Is it possible to use the media buttons on my Equim P-200 notebook in itunes when its not the open window?
They work if ive got it open but not if its not. This doesnt really help me much because i could just hit space.
Are there some setting somewhere i can change to fix this

Don't know how to fix this in detail, as I have some "problem" with Media Player Classic, which only work with those buttons, when focus lies on this program.
So, maybe you can make a work-around, if you can change some itune window settings, to be always on top, so that it has focus all the time.
Then, not to disturb you on your desktop, you could resize window and position the small window somewhere it does not bother you.

Dell laptop media buttons and iTunes?

I have a dell laptop and love iTunes. However, the media buttons on the front only work when iTunes has focus. I have heard of a plug-in that allows it to grab the commands at anytime. Could anyone here direct me to that plug-in?

I have the same problem with my HP laptop media controls. In iTunes 7.1.x, the volume keys on my laptop double registered whenever iTunes was open and not focused on the program, so the volume would go up/down twice at one push and when pressing mute, it would actually mute then unmute as you released the button. However, the play/pause, stop, ff/rev keys worked fine.

Custom social media buttons

I am working on a site that will have twitter and facebook buttons.
I tried the buttons provided by twitter and facebook: For twitter the "tweet" button and for facebook the "like" and "send" button as you generate on their sites.
There is a lot not to like about this: You don't control the looks (they are loaded through a script), the buttons facebook and twitter are different in size, they come with a ton of code that is loaded from the facebook servers and thus seem to slow down loadtimes.
The facebook button is quite wide and does not go well with my fluid design.
I would like to replace them with my own.
The fb and twitter scripts also send info, like the page you come from, username etc, so that users can quickly send that page to their followers.
The company that the site is for does not have a facebook page or twitteraccount.
We don't want a counter with the buttons.
So how can I have my own buttons and still have (some) of the functionality that the FB and Twitter buttons offer?

Actually is not really a real "company" it is more like a collaboration of people with an idea that won a price with that.
Visitors cab join in if they want.
So it is a "social" thing, but all the info will be on the site.
The people that will visit the site are typical users of twitter and facebook (and Linkedin) and will most likely use that to share the site.
In any case, you can design any button you like and change the URL to link directly to the facebook or twitter page. It does not need to have the functionality but you mention you want to keep some of that functionality - what parts exactly?
For instance that the URL of the page that you want to share is sent.
And I set up the site with Open Graph, so you can "send" the page complte with a description, url and small picture.
I must add that this whole social media thing is unknown territory for me, I am reading up on it right now.
So perhaps I should rephrase my question:
Do you or did you implement social media buttons in the website you built and if yes, how did you do that and why?

MBA 13" media buttons not working with iTunes

I just got my mba 13" and everything is great, but for some reason the media buttons do not work with itunes. I've tried them with vlc and other applications and they work fine. Any ideas how I can fix this?
