MEDIA CARD ERROR

Hi,
I am new to Blackberry and my ipod recently broke to i bought a 32GB memory card and uploaded all of my music onto it. However, when i instert it into the phone a message always comes up: 'media card contains errors, do you wish to repair it now?' after I click 'yes' i get: 'if lost clusters are found, do you wish to save them?' the repair repeatedly fails and even if it works, only some of the data appears!!
I have tried a new handset and i have also run disk utility and re-formatted the card! Nothing works!! However, the card works in non-Blackberry phones!!! PLEASE HELP, IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY
Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forums!
It is not uncommon to buy a "dead" card. I would simply return it.
You can run diagnostics and possibly repair some errors, but for how long?
You  payed good money for a device that functions properly, get your monies worth.
That said I will give you some information to verify that the media card size is supported by
your device OS. If you decide to troubleshoot it, we can help you.
Let us know how it goes!
Thanks,

Okay this has happened to me twice. Second time just now. I noticed all my files were mucked up and wouldn't open, so I performed a battery pull with the device turned on. Turned my phone back on to discover a media card error with clustered files- tried to repair, repair failed. I've lost everything- again. I went to options>device>storage and tried to repair from there and it said I didn't have a media card installed. Tried to repair anyway and it also failed.
The first time this happened I tried to repair from my computer and that failed too- it has failed this time also. I reformatted the card from my device- if anyone has a way to get my files back please let me know!
I had seriously important memories and things I seriously need to get back. If there's any way I can't get them back please let me know. It says I have absolutely nothing in my files on my phone. Pleaaaase help!

  • Sudden Media Card error..?

Hello everyone. For the past few weeks, my media card in my BB 8900, which has been working fine before this suddenly started, has now been displaying the following error message whenever I unplug it from my wall-charger or my USB connection cord that came with my phone.:
"A Media Card has been inserted that contains errors. To correct the errors please use a disk error-checking utility on a computer."
I've been looking though my manuals and docs that came with my BlackBerry and can't find any info on this particular issue.
Needless to say, I'm unable to turn on the 'Store to Memory Device' option in my phone due to this issue.
I tried to fix the disc via this message in the forums by a user having a similar problem. However, I had a problem. I hooked my BlackBerry up to my USB and my G:\ directory appeared. (I'm running Windows Vista). I clicked on my (G directory, then clicked on 'Tools' in the bar at the top of the My Computer window. The 'Removable Disk (G Properties' window appereared, and I selected 'Tools'. I saw an option titled 'Error-checking', and I clicked the button under it (titled, 'Check Now..').
The moment I clicked on 'Check Now...', an error message popped up reading, "The disk check could not be performed because Windows cannot access the disk".
I'm at a loss as to what to do! If anyone can help or offer any suggestions, it would be VERY MUCH and GREATLY appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read this!

PROBLEM FIXED! But I'd like to share just in case anyone else is having or happens to run into the same problem..!
Make sure your card is in your BB.
Go to your main screen. You just need to Format your card. To do this, do the following:
Clck Menu > Options > Memory > Menu > Select 'Format'.
In a second or two your card should be fine and back to functioning normally!

  • Media Card Error = Lost Pictures

I recently plugged my device into my computer and by accident clicked "yes" when prompted to turn on media storage.  I got the timer, then an error message and all pictures disappeared.  I continued to get the message even after I took out the battery, but a few minutes later the message that the media card had been installed appeared.  All other data and apps are still present - just the pictures.  Is this normal?  I followed the directions of running a driver check through my computer but that did nothing - or so it seemed.  Is there any way to recover the pics, or are these lost (as it seems)

I recently lost all the pics on my BB Curve micro sd card. I downloaded Zero Assumption Recovery 8.4, and it actually worked! I dialed 611 to talk with a customer representative at T-Mobile. He told me to go to Menu, and then click on Settings, then Options. You can see how much memory you have used. I do not have any ring tones, music, nor do I use the contacts feature. I could see that I had used 128.0 MB, but I still could not view my pictures. This lead me to believe my pictures were still on the micro sd, but they just wouldn't be located. I took the card out and connected it to my computer with an SD style adapter. You could also just hook the phone up to the computer with the USD cord (mine cord is currently lost!) Once I opened the SD card in My Computer, the files were still missing. I tried to use Recuva data recovery software, but it only yielded 3 photos. I chose not to recovery those 3 files at that time because I was afraid of losing all my other files, if I did. Instead, I downloaded ZAR 8.4. It took a lot longer than Recuver to complete the recovery process (11 minutes vs. 1 min.), but it was totally worth it. Each program can be found free online, just choose a safe site. ZAR 8.4 found all of my 243 pictures!!! This means I get to keep all of my spring pictures of the yard, pictures from vacation, pics from New York (Ground Zero, Liberty, World Financial Center, et cetera.) All BlackBerry users should be aware of ZAR!

  • Device instance error, vista can't see media card

    hello,
I have a pearl 8110, with desktop 6 and vista.  After upgrading to version 6 I get this device instance error and specifically can't load any media onto the memory card via usb.
    USB\VID_0FCA&PID_8001\5&3100FCC1&0&5
been through the forums for months tracking this down on how to clear it.  Downloaded the calfix.exe program as that was the only clue that related to the 8001 error, ran it and nothing, did not work.  Fix was for versions 4.7 to ver 5.
I can sync, load and upgrade BB software without any problems, tried two different memory card manufacturers, formatted card, pulled battery so many time don't ask me to do it again.  mass storage mode is on, but software keeps telling me to turn it on even though its already on, been on since day one!  Everything works via bluetooth, pictures, video, mp3, but windows just can't see the memory card.
Also went through the computer management to loocate the drive, but no luck?
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix?

Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.
Are you attempting the format or looking at the Media Card from the BB WHILE you are plugged to the USB?
Unplug and try it all again.

  • When I try to import pictures from media card to iPhoto, I'm getting the error 'The following file could not be imported. The file is in an unrecognized format.'  The file is a jpeg and I've never had this problem before.

When I try to import pictures from media card to iPhoto, I'm getting the error 'The following file could not be imported. The file is in an unrecognized format.'  The file is a jpeg and I've never had this problem before.

    What version of iPhoto?
What colour profile is the shot?
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • MEDIA CARD CANT BE READ DUE TO FATAL ERRORS

Hi, I took my blackberry 9630 tour to the repairers to fix my trackball because it wasn't functioning. They fixed my trackball but the problem is when I insert my media card on the phone, I got a message sayng "media card cannot be accessed due to fatal errors" and I got shocked because the card was working before they opened my phone. Can someone please help me get back my 700 music files and pictures because they are important :'(

    Hello, Archie42,
To better determine if the issue is being caused by the media card or the BlackBerry® smartphone,  I would suggest testing the media card in a PC, if the card is working transfer the files to your PC and then reformat the card and then test in the BlackBerry.
    I hope this helps.

  • Media card cannot be accessed due to fatal errors.

I keep getting that message and ive tried pulling the battery....What happened was i did a battery pull because my phone was frozen and then when i put it back in the media card stopped working. What can i do to solve this?!
    I have searched everywhere......

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Here is a KB that discusses that error:
KB14745 "Memory card contains error, please use disk checking utility on computer" appears on the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone
Hopefully it contains something useful! You might have to use a media card reader on a PC rather than directly through the tethered BB.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Error: "... check that your media card is properly inserted in your device."

On my Blackberry Z10 I got the error  "The file could not be found.  Check the URL and try again.  If the URL is correct, check that your media card is properly inserted in your device."
This came up when I simply clicked on an email.  I don't have a media card, and the email I clicked on had worked a few seconds before, and starting working again when I tried it probably 30 minutes later.  Several other emails had the same issue at the time, and now do not.
So... the error has evaprorated, but I fear it will return.
Has anyone else encountered this?  Should I be afraid?  Should I take my phone back for warranty service?

It's weird for sure. When something weird like that happens on my Z10 I'll restart it (top button to start countdown then let go and press restart in bottom right corner). If it's still acting unusual, I'll press and hold the power button for 30 seconds through all the normal prompts until you see the square with the BlackBerry logo in it. Then release the power button. Also, keep in mind that the warranty is a year.

  • Media card wont read on phone or PC. "Media card can not be accessed due to fatal errors"

I've had my blackberry curve 8520 for over a year and never had any problems with the media card until now. I'm unable to look at any pictures, videos or music on my phone as i can not install the media card on my phone. I'm unable to repair it and format it also. The media card will also not be read when I plug it into my laptop with the USB.
I definitely know its the media card and not my phone itself as I've tried my brothers media card in my phone and it worked perfectly. When i put my media card in his phone, it did the same thing and came up with the same error.
Does anyone know how i'll be able to make the media card read in my phone or my pc so I can backup the data as I don't really want to lose it all?
    Any help appreciated,
    Thanks!

From what you describe, the data that was on the media card is already gone. If the PC cannot read it and the BB cannot read it, then it has for some reason been fried. I'm sorry for your loss.
You can try PC-based recovery utilities, but typically with flash memory (as opposed to magnetic memory of hard drives), once the data is gone, it's gone for good. But, you never know...give some of those a try and see what happens. Before you ask, no...I've no guidance for one versus another.
    Good luck!

  • Please help!!!!!! BB 8310 Sandisk SDHC 4GB Media Card Formatting Error

Please help.  I bought a Sandisk SDHC 4GB Memory Card and I keep getting this message after I choose format.
"Media card cannot be read.  Verify that the menory card is formatted".
I updated the software in my 8310 from 4.2 to 4.5, having been told that was the problem.  I've taken the battery and the memory card out of the phone for several minutes and reinstalled just to get the same error message.  Why is is so difficult to get this thing to work?  Are there settings that need to be change or is there a way of doing this through desktop manager?  I'm reading that you can format the card on your computer, I have no clue how to do that and especially with a PC with Vista.
Is it easier to return the memory card and buy one that is formatted?  Please help, I've wasted the better part of a weekend with this already.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
The message says the Blackberry can sense a media card but cannot read the card.
Irwinll is correct that returning it is the easiest, but a card reader will be useful to you.
They are about $10.00 and well worth the price.
    Thanks,
