Media center crashed

I recently updated my dv6t to Windows 7. Since then I have been having problems with Media Center. When I try to minimize or maximize the screen it freezes and then most times crashees. Recently I have bee receiving a message bit rate to slow. Any ideas?

If You have you tracks in MP3 format you could put as much as 300 to 500 Tracks on a cd. I don't Know if itunes could do it. But Music Match will. I burn about 20 CD with better than 500 track on each. some had as many as over 600 tracks. It depends on the bit rate your files have at about 96 you could get about 500 at 160 where I now have mine I would say about may be 200. It really all depends on the bit rate.

  • Media center crashing during recorded tv playback

In the last month or so my Windows 7 Media center started crashing during Media Playback (Unhandled ExceptioN).  I've been using media center on this system and others for years and have never seen this type of crashing (expecially on Win7).  While
I initially presumed that the issue was with a single system within a day or two I started to see the IDENTICAL issue on a SECOND system that I have that is also running Windows 7 x64.  They run with completely different types of Motherboards, cpu's (both
are Intel but one is a Core i7-4770k and the other i7-2600k), both have different types of display adapter and displays (Display adapter on system 1 is NVidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti the display adapter on System 2 is NVidia GeForce GTS 450).
However given the fact that they BOTH regularly crash 2-3 times per hour I'm suspecting a recent update, both systems are set to download and apply all critical system updates.  One system is playing back from local disk array (Raid), the other is playing
back over the network. Both have failed when payback is of local content the second system has also failed when playback originates from the first system (via network share).
System frequently has other applications tasks running so there could be conflicting tasks that influence, however system 2 is a dedicated system for recording and playback and runs little else besides Windows Media center.
Given the only STRONG commonality between the two systems is:
    Version of Windows
    NVidia Drivers
And given the fact that it's Unlikely that Microsoft is making any tweaks to Media Center on Win7.  I'm STRONGLY suspicious of the update that landed on my machines in Late Oct/Early Nov.  IS ANYONE
ELSE SEEING ISSUES with Windows media center crashing on Windows 7 immediately following an Update from NVidia?  Details of my update are below.
nVidia - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3 - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti

    Installation status: Successful
    Update type: Optional
nVidia Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3 software update released in July, 2014

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling graphic card or rollback?
I shall suggest you to update the driver from Nvidia's site instead of Windows Update.
You shall also look at the media center error logs to find out possible causes behind this issue.

  • Windows Media Center Crashes

    Hi!
I tried to connect my Xbox 360 with my PC through Windows Media Center Extender. WMC asks for a setup key given by the Xbox. I entered the key and when i clicked on "Continue" button WMC crashed. This happened every time I tried. I also tried in
Clean Boot mode, but the program chrashed just the same as in normal mode. I need help, because I have no idea why is this happening.

    Remove the existing computer connection
To fix this problem, remove the existing computer connection. Here's how:
On your console, go to the Settings and then System.
    Select Computers.
    Select Windows Media Center.
    Select Disconnect.
Go back to Xbox Home. Select Apps and then My Apps.
    Select Windows Media Center.
You should now see a setup key:
Set up Windows Media Center on Windows 7 and Xbox 360
Troubleshoot the connection between Windows Media Center and your Xbox 360

  • MSI Media Center Deluxe III !!! Crash all time..

    Hi
MSI Media Center Deluxe III keeps crashing. Is there any fix to this problem yet. All seams to have this problem.
I run XP Home SP1 with all live updates done. My Mega 865 only run MSI Media Center Deluxe III utility, since i only wish to install what i wish to use.
The MEGA 865 was bought due i wanted a pc/radio/cd combination. But since MSI Media Center Deluxe III will not start due crash when i starts.. The media machine is useless for me.
I hope MSI can give us an update so this will work. Also if this program will not work with some other software, give us a list  :hypecrite:

After several attempts at getting my HTPC to function consistently....it became obvious......disable Media Centre III and install software that is functional and supported....with authors that listen to your suggestions and problems.
Here is what I did and I now have what I believe is a fully functional and integrated HTPC.
Install either MyHTPC (free) or Meedio (commercial version)
I use Meedio to do the following
Play movies from my Maxtor external 250GB hard drive using Bsplayer - movies are catalogued and cover art viewable (used DVD Profiler to maintain library)
Play Music from my internal 200GB seagate drive - music collection catalogued including covers etc
Play TV using Chris-TV.  tv@anywhere also sucks so I do not use the supplied software and I have thrown away the tv@anywhere remote control. (Now using Streamzap remote) Chris-TV has much better tuning capabilities and works well with the streamzap remote.
Play DVD using the MSI DVD Player (using PowerDVD ) - note bsplayer also works well but i prefer the PowerDVD skins/interface
Play radio using MSI radio (yes I did keep some msi software) as it worked and it is not important enough for me to be bothered with anything easier to use
Play CD using the MSI CD player (using WMP9)
Call up Internet weather & Radar (Australian Weather only)
    Launch internet browser
Play/Display pictures (digital camera snaps) from the home network (pictures are stored on separate PC)
Control home automation - Motorised screen up/down, theatre lights up/down/on/off, Seat lights on/off, projector on/off etc
To get this working seamlessly with one remote control - I use the streamzap remote.....everything mentioned above works flawlessly with this remote so I have also thrown the MSI supplied remote in the garbage.
I now have Meedio in my start-up instead of media centre III and my remote has a macro button that can also launch it. I have a standby macro on the remote that puts the mega 865 to sleep but I still have to manually wake it up (ie touch it)
The litmus test to all of this was to hand the remote to my wife's blonde friend and asked her to play a certain movie on the projector. The HTPC was sight unseen to her before trying this and she was able to (using the remote) navigate her way to the movie through the various features of the HTPC without me having to show her how. And not once did it stop/stall/freeze/reboot/go slow.
Happy to share in the details of how to get this all  running to get the best out of the Mega 865.

  • Upgrad from Windows 8 Pro on Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center!

    Hello,
I did upgrade from Windows 8 Pro on Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center. Now the problem is when I press on any file with the right mouse button is normally open curtain menu, but when I press on any folder, right-click, the system crashes after a few seconds
    and back up.
    Best regards!

    Hi,
Go Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Event Viewer and scroll through the logs for System and Applications to see if anything shows up in red as Error or Warning.
    Meanwhile, going to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers
in regedit.exe, backing up the whole ConxtentMenuHandlers folder, and then start deleting all of them one by one and continuously testing the right click.  Of course import the Context folder after you find it, test once again by right clicking
to make sure you found the problem, and delete the file that caused the problem.

  • Vista Media Center x64 Embedded Flash

    Hi All
I was wondering if anybody knows any way to make Vista media
center 64 bit edition work with Flash. It will not work when
playing videos or with embeded media center plugins.
When playing video it says that the codecs are not installed,
but it will play if i use media player.
When trying to use the embedded plugins it can either crash
or loop back round instantly as if it has played the file.
Thanks for any help in advanced.

  • Media Center MP3 file # limit?

    Howdy,
I’ve been using Media Center II Deluxe with the patch for a few weeks now and have had very few issues until I tried to get my music library up and running with it. My music is stored out on my server, as in myservermusic and I have just over 8000 titles in the music library. When I try and go to the music section of Media Center II it takes about 20 minutes of sitting there as if it’s trying to access the library and eventually Media Center closes. I’ve been able to have it find music on a server when the server only contained about 15 albums, and even at that low amount of music it took about two minutes to display them in the library when using Media Center II, but 8000 titles seem to crash the program.
Is this a known limitation? Are there any work-arounds? Any tips?
    Thanks,
    Hoverboy

I never did get an answer for this one, and I tried to copy some of the music locally and hit the same issue after a thousand or so.
What I ended up doing was using this:
    http://www.myhtpc.net
It is tied into WMP9 (or whatever mp3 player you use) and has been a dream.

  • Media Center Deluxe II prototype software?

    Hi,
A few days ago I got the idea to build a media center PC. After scanning the market I decided to buy the MSI FX5600FX-VTD128 VGA board.
Part of my motivation for choosing this product was the included remote controller and MSI Media Center Deluxe II software.
Now after having installed this software and played with it for a short time, my worst fear was confirmed. Yet again a piece of poorly designed software. Crashes, non intuitive user interface, lack of compatibility with some of my video files and lack of configurability were my first findings after only a few minutes of use. And what a horrible remote controller??? I can't figure out why I need that text label saying "MSI Foreign Language Machine". Next to the label are two buttons for selecting FM and DVD. Can anybody explain why I need these two extra buttons when I already have the FM and DVD buttons further down on the remote controller layout???
Yes, I can go on and on with what I experienced during minutes of use. Everything is just not well thought about and reminds me about what I see in very early stages of consumer electronics R&D (I work in that business).
The Media Center Deluxe II is a piece of prototype software done without professionally skilled people in user interface design.
But I liked the idea of this bundled software, so please hire a professional UI designer, a professional ID company and implement some quality code...before releasing version III. And let people upgrade for free.
About the FX5600XT display board: IT'S GREAT :-)
    Regards,
    Pete

  • Mega 180-----Media Center III and a Vid Card----Working???

I'm trying to narrow down what is causing Media Center III to crash intermittently on my Mega 180.
I think I have it narrowed down to the SoundStorm drivers conflicting with Media Center III
But I want to eliminate that it is a problem with the 18G "Crush" onboard video chipset.  I am using the onboard only.
Anybody have a vid card in their AGP slot of the Mega 180 and use Media Center III??
Are you still getting crashes in Media Center III??
    John

Finally I give up using the Media Center.  I'm using now Girder with Nathans great plug in (see MSI Mega series girder plugin version 1.0 available ). The only disadvantage is that the fancy leds are not working.
    Regards
    Patrik

  • Windows 10 Becomes Windows 8 When Media Center is added

While setting up and installing Media center with the Key that I have, It changes Windows 10 to windows 8.1 pro.
It keeps all the files, but renders builds useless.
I think that there needs to be a way to disable this or fix it.
a lot of people that are using Media center would like to use it with out it mucking up the works.
Is there a way to repair and fix this issue.
Oh and Media Center Does not Run it crashes when trying to execute on Windows 10 Enterprise.

Media Center is NOT supported by Win 10.
    Sorry.

Reviewing the data, it appears that to be inaccurate
to state that "Media Center" "is NOT Compatible with windows 10".
I give this reason for the justification of the argument
Windows Media Center is Keycode activated
and is part of the OS.
If it is a part of the os then it is intentional design of the product .
There fore seeing how it is a part of the product and there is no Hack being performed then how can we state that Media Center is not compatible.
that is like stating that my "Honda Insight" while it is a Hybrid can not run in electric only mode.
While not advertised to be able to run it in electric Mode, a knowledgeable  user can manipulate the gas pedal and use electric mode as it was intended for .In this case the gas pedal depressed sends the vehicle in to charging mode, and then a light
amount of pressure on the gas will allow the said vehicle  to run in Electric mode only until said battery is depleted.
Gas Pedal  is  the control mechanism for activating and deactivating the EV mode in the car
Windows Key Code is the mechanism for activating certain software in windows.
So this statement must be true and logical.
Windows 10 is built on Windows 8 back bone and thus because this is true, Windows 10 becomes Windows 8 Media Center because Windows 10 is windows 8 at the heart of the beast.
So to state that Media Center is NOT compatible is an untrue statement.
How ever what is true once you activate  Media Center, there is enough changes to the registry that renders it to Windows 8 but not enough to cause a full deactivation.
Also if it where the case then , the registry system should have rejected the key .
So in my opinion Windows 10 is Windows 8 as it should have been originally .

Based on what you've posted, your computer does not have the right tuner.   You need a QAM tuner to record locals from FiOS, or a CableCard tuner to record all local and cable channels from FiOS.
QAM tuners to record local channels only
This requires Windows Vista or Windows 7
    Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250
SiliconDust HDHomeRun (info on a sale)
CableCard tuner to record local and cable channels
This requires Windows 7 + one CableCard from Verizon for $3.99/mo
ATI TV Wonder Digital PC CableCard Tuner (records one channel at a time) -- $200-$250 on ebay
Ceton MOCUR tuner (records four channels at a time) -- coming in early 2010 for $400-$600
Make sure your computer has Windows 7 Home Premium (or better) installed.   That's necessary to support CableCard tuners.

  • Can any one help me with CD/Audio disc playback problem on media center m8200n running Windows Vista

I have HP Media Center m8200n Dest top running WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32 BIT edition. It  has MEDIA CENTER and MEDIA PLAYER. I experience problems with the computer being able to play CD music discs.  What happens is that the Disc will play only for 63 seconds exactly and then stop playing the track, the player will then skip tracks, settle on another one, play it for a few moments and then skip to the end and then play nothing. It gives me an error message that it cannot read the disc.  This happens with any and every standard store bought CD new or used. These CDs also do play on my laptop running basically same operating system.  This happens whether I trying to Play a disc or burn the disc to the hard drive.  The drives work great though as they do play DATA discs all the way through. MP3 discs play fine.  It also plays the DVD movies with no problem. Windows media player doesn't make it work, also installed VLC player and REALPLAYER to try some other players and they also don't work for music, only DVDs. They all only produce 63 seconds of music play back  from a disc. I've already tried Changing ENHANCEMENTS, UPDATING DRIVERS, UNINSTALLING THE DISC DRIVE and then re-installing back into WINDOWS but none of that helped. SYSTEM came with the integrated REALTEK HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO on the mother boad for multi channel playback options and I've downloaded those updated drivers again but that doesn't do anything.  Thinking it might be a hardware drive problem I purchased a new LG BLU-RAY DRIVE/BURNER super multi drive which plays fantastic for any video format from Blu-Ray to regular DVD format with the Power DVD software but the machine is causing even this new drive to have the same problem with the audio and it cuts out playing the audio disc within the same 63 seconds running audio disc. . There seems to be a software glitch and I'm wondering if you can help.  Also the sound card seems to work perfectly fine. I downloaded I-Tunes and copied over audio files to the computer via my flash drive and when I play those files from the hard drive, or even the sample windows media files which reside on the hard drive in MY MUSIC, all files play through perfectly, fully, and with great sound. Audio out jacks in back of computer work fine as also does the front head phone jacks upfront. Something in the software when playing a audio disc/file through the dic drives???? I've got hundreds of CD and it's a bummer not beng able to lay them through the system. Does anyone think moving from VISTA PREMIUM to a upgraded version like ULTIMATE or even going up to Windows 7 might solve problem??? What about the 32 bit verses 64 bit editions??? My system should be able to run in the 64 bit frame work also. THANK YOU in advance!!!

    Hi,
All dimms work individually?  Did you run a bootable memory diagnostic to determine the reliability? Did you run a diagnostic on the hard drive?  I believe that your PC came with PC Doctor and that you can create a bootable diagnostic disk. Did you create that disk?  Be sure to purchase memory dimms from a manufacturer that will stand behind their product with a guarantee such as Crucial, Corsair or Kingston. Buy directly from the manufacturer and they will stand behind the guarantee. Be sure that all of the dimms are identical. Use CPU-Z to determine that the specifications are indeed identical.
You have some options to consider once you can stablize your PC for updating the BIOS.
Locate a hard drive and use the HP external recovery media to build a VISTA system. -- safest method
Use a VISTA repair disk and at the command prompt try executing the HP BIOS update (Admin). -- safe
Try a bootable BIOS update process as suggested at this site. --  less safe but doable

  • Windows XP Media Center Edition FAQ

What is a Media Center PC?
It is basically a regular PC, but designed to fit into your home entertainment system to replace your DVD player, Hi-Fi, TV set-top box, as well as allowing other functions as email, web browsing and more, all from the comfort of your armchair, or elsewhere
Many new Media Center PCs (MCPCs or Home Theatre PCs - HTPCs) are styled like hi-fi components to blend in under your TV, while many are regular PCs with extra multimedia functions.
What is Windows XP Media Center Edition?
Windows XP Media Center Edition (or XP MCE for short) is basically Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2) without advanced networking support (but including Remote Desktop Connection) and extra applications to turn your PC into a fully fledged Home Theatre PC (HTPC). The main Microsoft Media Center appplication allows a full screen interface suitable for viewing on TVs (pictured below left) and controlled by an easy to use Microsoft remote control device (below right), so you can watch and record TV, view DVDs and listen to audio CDs and digital music files.
How do I get WinXP MCE?
At the time of writing, XP MCE is only available as an OEM pack which you can purchase from your nearest dealer or online reseller, or if pre-installed on a purchased system. MCE is currently only available as a 32bit (x86) version, but works on 64bit systems.
The Media Center application is also included with the Home Premium and Ultimate editions of Windows Vista.
How do I install WinXP MCE?
MCE installs the same way as any other version of Windows XP. However it cannot be installed as an upgrade, you must do a clean install. MCE comes on two disks; a WinXP XP SP2 disc, and the MCE extras disc. Boot from CD1 as you would normally when installing Windows. The setup screens will indicate Windows XP Professional, this is normal. During the graphic part of the install process, you will be prompted to insert CD2. This is obviously the second CD of the set which you should insert, as it contains the necessary extra Media Center enhancements. When it is done, Setup will ask you for the "Windows XP SP2 CD". It is actually just asking for the first disc again, so reinsert it and let it continue.
When install is complete, the system will reboot, and you will see the normal Windows XP desktop, though with a slightly different theme. To begin using the Media Center program straight away, click on Media Center in the Start Menu to begin the Media Center Setup wizard.
What graphics hardware is required for MCE to work correctly?
MCE works with DirectX 9.0c, so ideally your hardware at a minimum needs to be DirectX 9.0 compatible.
MCE requires a minimum of 64mb video RAM (shared or dedicated), 128mb recommended for the full visual "eye-candy" interface effects.
For Nvidia GPU chipsets, MCE drivers can be found here: nVidia Drivers. You'll need at least a Geforce FX5200 for MCE to work (however I have it running on an integrated Geforce 4 MX with no problems).
For ATI GPU chipsets, drivers for MCE can be found here: ATi Drivers. You'll need at least a 9250 for MCE to work, but I understand that the 9200 may also suffice.
Unfortunately, I understand that SiS and Via (S3) chipsets (as found on many mobos with integrated VGA) are NOT MCE compatible. Some Intel integrated VGA chipsets will work now, you should refer to Intel's website for updated drivers. I also understand that Via have introduced MCE compatible drivers for their Epia SP13000 ITX board, again refer to Via's website for correct drivers. However, it is recommended to use an add-in VGA card for best results, unless you have a new board which has integrated Geforce 6100 or ATI Xpress chipsets
What TV hardware works with MCE?
In order to display TV output, MCE requires an MPEG2 stream to display. It cannot encode this itself, so requires a hardware based TV tuner / capture card, such as the Hauppage PVR MCE series, or the MSI Theater 550PRO (above left). The card receives analog video through the aerial connection, or svideo / composite inputs, encodes it into MPEG2 format, which MCE can display.
This type of analog card is required to connect a cable or satellite box (eg Telewest, NTL or Sky in UK). Using the Microsoft remote receiver, two supplied IR blasters affix to the set-top box, so MCE can automatically change channels when needed.
For best picture quality on digital TV though, you can use a software-based DVB-T card, such as the Hauppauge Nova-T or the Black Gold DVB-T (above right). Using a regular aerial, these receive high quality digital terrestrial (OTA) signals (eg the Freeview service in UK), which are broadcast in MPEG2 format, and therefore no encoding is required. In the USA, ATSC is the digital terrestrial standard used, as DVB is not available there.
Unfortunately UK users of DVB-T cards will currently not be able to make use of DVB subtitles, interactive text-based services such as Teletext and BBCi, or listen to the Digital Radio services available on Freeview. UK DVB Digital Audio services are now available with MCE Rollup 2.
Unlike with VGA cards, MCE requires that your TV hardware has special BDA (Broadcast Driver Architecture) drivers which are MCE compatible. Check your hardware manufacturers website for compatible drivers.
Unfortunately, analogue TV hardware that is software-driven (such as MSI TV@nywhere and Vox) won't work in MCE.
Windows Vista Media Center will introduce support for cable (DVB-C) and satellite (DVB-S)tuner cards
Do I need any other software to make MCE work?
As MCE is essentially based around Windows Media Player 10, you will be aware that WMP cannot play DVDs until you install a suitable DVD codec. This is also the case with MCE, as until you install this MPEG2 codec, MCE won't play ANY video (including TV). So you will also need to purchase additional MCE compatible DVD player software, such as Cyberlink PowerDVD 6, Intervideo WinDVD 6, or Nvidia's DVD Decoder MPEG codec. Results can be varied using different codecs, so it is best to try a trial version of such software to see which gives you the best results before purchasing. You may find that suitable DVD software may already be supplied with some VGA or TV tuner cards.
    Anything else I need?
You will also require an internet connection (not imperative, but certainly very useful) in order for MCE to access the internet in order to find and download TV guide listings, and album and artist information when playing CDs, MP3s and WMAs.
Without guide information, you will have to manually schedule TV recordings, and no programme information will be available.
If you are planning on having your Media Center in your living room, the Microsoft Remote Controller will allow you to control all aspects of the MCE interface without the need for a keyboard or mouse connected.
If you are connecting your Media Center to your TV, then your video display device will need TV-out capabilities (S-Video or Composite). S-Video offers better picture quality over composite video, but you will need to ensure your TV supports S-Video input, otherwise you will just see black and white video.
If your TV supports RGB inputs, then you may be able to obtain a VGA > RGB adaptor, which offers even better picture quality (search with Google, there are lots of sites about this). Many modern LCD and plasma TVs also support direct VGA / DVI inputs. VGA > RGB/SCART is only compatible with ATI Radeon VGA cards.
Can I watch one channel while recording another?
Yes, but you will need two identical TV devices, eg 2x DVB-T cards. You cannot have one analogue card, and one digital, as MCE presumes both hardware devices receive same channels, and can pick and choose between them. (However in the USA, you may have two analogue tuners, and one HDTV tuner)
This is straightforward when using two identical DVB-T cards. MCE has a channel list and guide data, so for example you are watching BBC1 on one tuner, MCE uses the other tuner to record the other programme on ITV2. Both cards are receiving the same input.
It gets a little more complicated if you want to do the same with a paid subscription service, such as NTL Cable or Sky Satellite in UK. As well as having two matching tuners (although I understand that some companies, including Hauppage, are releasing "dual-tuner" cards) you will also require two set-top boxes, with a subscription for each, as MCE needs to be able to change the channel on each set-top box seperately.

For some reason when using the "certified" MCE version of the Forceware drivers, after a short while all the buttons in the menus become "corrupted"
The simple solution: use regular XP/2000 version of Forceware drivers. They still work perfectly in MCE2005, and the graphical corruption doesn't appear.

EDIT: this problem appears to have been corrected in the recent Rollup 2 Update
