Media clip cannot be played

I have embedded swf into pdf. When I try to run my animation I do receive java script alert:
Acrobat has encountered an error while playing this media clip: The media clip cannot be played in the manner that the author intended. you may need to upgrade your player software or install new player software. Adobe(R) Flash(R) Player
PDF: I try to open embedded swf with app.media.openPlayer (PDF is generated from Tex)
Reader version: I do receive the same error for 9 a X versions of Adobe reader
PC settings: Windows 7, Flash version 11,3,300,262, installed for IE and other browsers (Firefox)
Build Settings: ActionScriptProject, Adobe Flash Builder 4.6, Flex 4.6, cs5 UI controls
Animation is running without problem in browser, ...
Animations were running  well when I built them with older builder version.
When I build same animation in Adobe Flash Builder 4.6  with  Flex 3.6A then it is running but I have problem with animation size.
Could not find any solution on the web. Does anybody know how to resolve this issue?

Solution: Build project with Flex 4.1A. (original SDK for flash builder 4.0.) Steps:
Download SDK 4.1A from http://sourceforge.net/adobe/flexsdk/wiki/Download%20Flex%204/
Extract archive into SDKs directory and add it into Flash Builder 4.6 list of SDKs
Change SDK for ActionScriptProject
Final words
We have built several screen PDFs with embedded flash ( "legacy" rich media way). We have experienced several problems - different versions of SDKs, changes in Acrobat (Reader) versions, incompatible flash versions. Users have to change (break) reader security settings to enable animations.
I do not suggest to use "legacy" rich media in PDFs. Adobe strongly advises all PDF authors to use Flash media in their PDF files. You can read more here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3450658

  • Acrobat ERROR playing media clip...

I created a PDF with Mindjet and also got a pdf for testing from them...
    both create this error:
"Acrobat has encountered an error while playing this media clip:
The media clip cannot be played in the manner that the author intended. you may need to upgrade your player software or install new player software. Adobe(R) Flash(R) Player"
I am using Windows XP Pro SP2, I upgraded from Acrobat 7 to the current 9.0.0 and my FLASH player is WIN 10,0,12,36
The Mindjet people say it's my problem and it works fine for them. Their player, when on the website Plays fine...http://www.mindjet.com/products/mindmanager/default.aspx I can email the test file if it will help solve my problem.
    Thank you!

You would need to post the PDF somewhere so folks can see it.

  • While playing this media clip: Adobe's Windows built in media player cannot play this

I downloaded a PDF file about a week ago and am stumped on how i can make it play. it is a PDF with audio clips to help learn a language. the file opens fine but whenever i click the audio it says "acrobat has encountered an error while playing this media clip: Adobe's Windows built in media player cannot play this format as the required decoder is not installed on the system. " i googled and came to a few differrent threads on this site, someone said they resolved it with quicktime, so i got quicktime... no use. then someone else said its a problem with "legacy media" and id have to go into my preferences in adobe and allow it, i didnt see an option to "allow" but i saw one where i could pick how i wanted to play it (quicktime, windows built in, windows media player, and i think one more) i tried with all of them and still no luck. i really .want this file to play, but since i am not tech savvy, i am stumped as what i can do next. please help

What is your operating system & version?
    What is your Reader version?
Do you have any Codecs installed on your system?
I downloaded the file, and the audio plays fine on my system (Windows 7, Reader XI, using Windows 7 Codec Pack).

  • Acrobat has encountered an error while playing this media clip

    Hi,
I have downloaded a pdf file from the web which has embedded audio in it.
When I try to play the audio, the following message comes up “Acrobat has encountered an error while playing this media clip. Adobe’s Windows build-in player cannot play this format as the required decoder is not installed on the system.”.
I can attach the file, if the problem can be resolved.  If you need more information, kindly advise?
    Can you kindly assist?

That means it's a PDF containing "legacy media", which requires external software to play it. Unfortunately the audio itself could use any type of encoding, and the error tells you that whatever it is, your default media player (WMP) doesn't understand it. Rather annoyingly, when running in embedded mode WMP doesn't tell you what codec it's having problem with. It's one reason why this feature has been removed from the latest version of Acrobat.
This forum doesn't allow generic file attachments, but if the PDF came from a public website please post the URL and someone will take a look at the structure. Sharing of copyrighted material via file upload services is not permitted.

  • Error playing media clip in Adobe Reader X (10.1.0)

    Hi,
A pdf, which was sent to me, has embedded media clips. However, when I try to play these clips a JavaScript error message comes up saying 'Acrobat has encountered an error while playing this media clip'. The document was probably created in an old version of adobe and therefore I'm wondering if this is the reason why the media files fail to play in the latest version  (10.1.0)?
I am using windows vista. I have uninstalled and re-installed the adobe reader and also tried playing the clips when the firewalls are down but neither of these things have helped.
Any help or tips would be really appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Nikki

I am having the same problem.  Win 7 or Win XP doesn't matter the problems seems to be with Adobe 10.1.0.  Works ok with Word, but not adobe reader.  Doesn't un-collate if the box is checked.  Tried to unchecked then recheck.  Use to work but now it doesn't.

  • N8 Unable to play media clip from micro SD

    Hi All,
I've seen this about a couple of places but there don't seem to be any solutions out there.
I've got a 32gb micro SD card in the N8. Everything seemed fine to start with, but after the first 3 videos I watched now if I try to play videos off the SD I get "Unable to play media clip". Sometimes if I remove the file and then copy it back over to the card it works, but obviously this is quite frustrating.
If I copy these files to the phone's internal memory then they play fine.
I would appreciate it if anyone has got any ideas on this.
    Cheers,
    Stephen

then the process of formatting will begin and it will take around...2 hours! yes 2 damn long interminable hours formatting ur memory card...once finish....u can enjoy having a powerful 32gb microsd on the mighty marvelous Nokia N8.
PS: if u want to fromat by right clicking on the memory card and chooseing format...it wont work. u gotta pass through disk management processing.

  • Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file
    How do I fix this?

That would probably be a question best taken up in on a site for Windows support questions. Not knowing anything about the movie you're trying to play, all I can suggest is to confirm that the format of the movie you wish to play is supported in your version of WMP. If it isn't, you'll either need to convert the movie or use some other player software.
    Regards.

  • Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the required video codec is not installed on your computer

I can not find solution to the issue "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the required video codec is not installed on your computer" while attempting to play the file with *.wmv extension. Some computer fail in spite of said missing codec
being present according the windrows media player in Windows 7 box

If Rashid's link does not resolve it... consider the below:
    A)  As of this writing, the codec for GoToMeeting webinar recordings ("G2M4" codec) was only mentioned in *one* web page, of about 10 Microsoft web pages I read, to resolve this problem (and that codec is not included, yet, in their diagnostic tool),
so if you're trying to play a GoToMeeting webinar, simply get the codec for it from their site:  http://www.GoToMeeting.com/codec
    B)  If Windows Media Player (WMP) will not even open the file, you won't be able to get the 4-character codec's name (like "G2M4") from WMP.  But VLC's media player will tell you that code, even when it fails to run the video.... and then you can
    search the internet for it.
    C)  The problem sometimes is not actually a missing codec.  Other things that have helped others, some from:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-pictures/the-windows-media-player-12-could-not-play-the-wma/bb823460-44df-4e8d-ba2c-42ec0e111e5a?page=3
    (1) running the System File Checker (SFC.exe),
    (2) opening WMP first (running both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions) then opening the file from inside them,
    (3) confirming that WMP was the file association for WMV files,
    (4) Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound, selecting my audio device, and looking for a "5.1" setting (I didn't have one), to change to "stereo",
    (5) checking Tools\Options\Devices\Speakers\Properties\Speaker Properties\AdvancedPlayback\ Speakers /HP\Properties\Advanced\Default Format, to select "CD or DVD Quality" (if that setting appears for your device),
    Good luck,

  • "'[media]' cannot be played on this iPad" - recommendations?

    Hi,
we're in the process of filling a new iTunes channel with video content to be downloaded via the iTunes store.
This is the channel URL - http://itunes.apple.com/at/podcast/flitelevel-tv/id464792847
However, we're having trouble getting consistent behaviour from the store - sometimes it lists our items, sometimes it doesn't, without us changing anything at all.
Additionally, our files (when they are visible) play fine on PCs and Macs via iTunes, but do not play on either iPhone or iPad with the following error message:
"[video name] cannot be played on this iPad"
The error message appears instantly after clicking one of the media file entries - doesn't seem to request the file at all.
Is there any extra setting or configuration work we need to do, and how can we make the file listing consistent?
Our encoding settings are identical to others we have compared that do work fine, but our files still will not play on iPad/iPhone. General settings: 852x480, 1600 kbit/s H.264 MP4 [email protected], AAC-LC audio at 96-128 kbit/s. Our encoder is Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 SP1.
By the way, iTunes does play these files without trouble on Mac and Windows PCs if accessed via our RSS feed - http://flitelevel.tv/feed.rss. When downloaded through the desktop iTunes application and then synchronized with the iPad the video plays from the iPad correctly.
    Kind regards,
    Krautzer-Lynn dev team

You are not the only ONE! I bought my iPad in Oct. It was working so perfectly for me that I think apple should be paying me for all the promoting I have been doing since then. I never updated it. Until Last week that I decided to update the software. I don't have a computer so I used my cousins Mac. When I got home I couldn't play anything on the iPod. I was told to sync my iPad. I went back to my cousins to sync my iPad. Then my iTunes podcast downloads got stuck. I was told to do a hard reset. I did, it fixed it. Today I was at the library downloading podcast and all of a sudden this message pops up saying podcast cannot be played on this iPad? I tried the hard reset, doesn't work. I can't download any podcast!!! I am soooo wishing I never upgraded the software because my iPad was perfect before then. There is NO mention of this anywhere on the Internet but here. It seems this is a new problem and apple offers no support. Well unless you buy their support services. I left Microsoft for Apple because they didn't play that Microsoft game of upgrading software with bugs and then charging you to fix it. I will update you when I find a solution.
    Question?
Did you have this problem before you updated?
Is it just downloading your audio books or is it your podcast to?

  • Windows Media Player cannot play the audio files

Hi, I have Toshiba laptop, it's my baby, and suddenly I cannot play any sounds! When I click to play a song on windows media player it says:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.
I have tried everything and I'm on my last nerve! Basically, I'm really rubbish with computers, I can't understand this at all, I've followed every path suggested by the 'help' section in my computer and I still can't listen to 'The Feeling!' Please help, I'm going mad here!

    Hello
I have had similar problem after usage of Windows Live messenger (talk option). The sound was suddenly gone without any reason. I have done follow steps:
    Close all running applications
Enter start control panel system hardware tab device manager and remove listed sound card
Start Add Hardware option in control panel.
The sound card should be detected and installed properly. After doing this try please to use Windows Media player again
    Good luck!

The export without audio is an .m4v file, which many plays have trouble with.  For now, use the audio, which creates a playable .mp4 file.

  • Real Player pc to E71: unable to play media clip

First post here and hello to all members So I don't really understand my problem. I downloaded a short clip (a sample) on my computer by using Real Player SP then I converted it by using Real Player's dedicated settings for "Nokia E71". It plays (converted and not) on my computer so I transferred it on my mobile. Real Player was not able to play it "unable to play media clip". Could any one please advice me what is the problem? Thanks in advance.

While I don't do video editing, I do use two downloading extensions in Firefox and both offer multiple video formats to chose from when downloading. One is "DownloadHelper" and the other is "Flash Video Downloader." While each has its own website, you should download them from the Firefox extension website since what's presented there has been vetted by Mozilla. The  links are http://www.flashvideodownloader.org/ and https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/downthemall/ so you can see if they'll offer what you need.
