Media controls not working on my MacBook Air

Hello everybody,
I purchased my Macbook Air 11" almost two years ago and after updating it to I think it was leopard at the time, my media controls stopped working for iTunes. I didn't think much of it since I barely used those keys but after I wanted to use it more and they still don't.
I am currently running Yosemite 10.10.1
If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it!

It sounds like your Function buttons aren't usable to control your iTunes playback on your computer. From what you describe it seems that you should be able to toggle this funciton in your System Preferences for your keyboard:
How to change the behavior of function keys on your Mac
By default, pressing one of these keys performs the special feature indicated by the icon printed on the key. For example, pressing the keys with speaker icons adjusts the volume. If you want to use one of these keys as a standard function key, hold the Fn key (usually in the lower left corner of the keyboard) while pressing the function key. Pressing Fn-F10 (speaker icon) performs the function assigned to the F10 key instead of toggling mute on or off.
If you prefer the top row of keys to always behave as standard function keys without holding the Fn key:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
From the View menu, choose Keyboard.
Click the Keyboard tab if it is not already selected
Enable "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys."
With this option enabled, the top row of keys acts as standard function keys (F1 - F12). To use a feature indicated by the icon printed on a key, hold Fn while pressing the key.

Finder is not working on my macbook air. I

Finder stopped working on my macbook air about 6 weeks ago. Firstly, we factory reset the computer to make finder work again. Finder is now not working again and I am worried that the only solution is to reset the computer again losing everything on it.
Can anybody help me with this?

Start by deleting the Finder's plist file:
Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
then restarting your Mac.
If that didn't do it, and you don't want to lose all your files and settings, try an archive and install:

External Hard drive not working on my Macbook Air

I've been using my external hard drive for more than 6months now on my mac and for some reason today it won't show up. I've run a disk utility check on it, and tried repairing it but it just says that it has an error and can not be fixed. I am quite stressed about this because it works fine when I use it on my tv and I am able to access my files, but unfortunately because of the low amount of data storage on the macbook air I am unable to save a lot on it, therefore have my external hard drive to save everything on. I am a university student with assignments due very soon! I need help please and urgently!

The EHD has failed and needs to be replaced. If you have not been backing it up then you are about to learn a difficult lesson about why backing up is absolutely critical.
If you have another computer available and that machine can see the data on the EHD then copy the data to that computer. When you replace the EHD simply move the data back.

Personal Hotspot not working with my MacBook Air

So I have an iPhone 6 and a MacBook Air (Mid2013), who both meet the requirements for the new personal Hotspot in iOS8.
I connected the 2 devices and it worked for some time. I could activate the personal hotspot without even touching the phone. I was very happy, but suddenly it stopped working, although I didn't install a new update on any of the two devices (both are still up to date). At some point, I had to turn the hotspot on manually to get it working, but now, the only way to connect to my hotspot, is to start diagnostics and connect trough that window.
The bluetooth connection works without a problem& my iPhone hotspot works perfectly with my iPad 3.
I tried everything, someone wrote on a website that the iCloud might me the problem, so I disconnected both devices from iCloud and reconnected afterwards. It worked exactly once after that. Then, my MacBook kept saying that the personal hotspot could not be activated (even if I activated the hotspot manually).

Audition CS5.5 not working on 2014 MacBook Air

Greetings!
Just upgraded computers (from a 2008 MacBook) to a 2014 MacBook Air (13", Early 2014). I had Audition CS5.5 on my old Mac so I deactivated it, installed it on the new Air and activated it. Everything seemed to install smoothly, but when I open the program and open an audio file, it just doesn't work, plain and simple. I hit play and nothing happens. I try with the spacebar and nothing happens. The play button lights up, but nothing plays. I can add effects to tracks and see that changes are being made in the waveforms, but can't listen back. Even after making changes, I cannot save those changes.
The specifics:
13" MacBook Air (Early 2014)
1.4 GHz Intel Core i5
4GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Running OSX Yosemite (10.10.3, same as my old MacBook with no issues)
As for Audition, it's CS5.5. There don't appear to be any updates available. I know that I can upgrade to CS6 and I have no problem paying the upgrade charge, but will only do so if I know for a fact that the issue will be resolved. And honestly, unless there are earth-shattering updates, I'm perfectly happy with 5.5.
So there it is. Anyone have any ideas what the issue could be? I've done some searching, but can't seem to find anyone with the exact issue I'm having. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

I checked the audio settings and all appeared to be right. Just to be safe, I re-selected the correct options. The right drivers were also installed, but again, I re-selected it just to be sure. And viola! It worked!
Very strange. So essentially I changed nothing, but not it works. Can't thank you enough for the speedy response!

Hello. I have a Macbook Air and I just recently realized that some of my keys do not work or they will work when I press the letter or number next to the key that I need. Can someone help me. I do not know what is wrong or why this is doing this since I got the computer on March 26, 2012. Thank you.

This is probably something you should take your computer into Apple for repair. You might check your language settings in the language Preferences and look at the input sources tab.

Webcam not working on new Macbook Air

My webcam does not work correctly on certain applications. I have found a supplemental download to fix this with OS Mountain Lion, but I now have OS Mavericks. Is there a supplement available for this OS or do I need to wait?

Aperture not working on new MacBook Air

I have a new 11" MAcBook Air and bought Aperture from the App store. I keep getting an error message saying that this version may not work with this operating system. Have deleted and re-installed. Any ideas?

Same problems using Aperture on my macbook air bought in march 2011. Apple telephone sales said that it would work but today an Apple Aperture Engineer advised me to avoid trying to use Aperture on a macbook air. I bought Aperture 3 pre-installed at the recommendation of the Apple representative. Many hours of phone calls to Apple and 6 Apple 1-2-1 lessons on Aperture has been a waste of my time and money. The macbook air, super drive and extended warranty are useless and I spent $1976 dollars on this fiasco. Apple is so far unwilling to make amends. I need to buy a new Macbook Pro + aperture 3 + extended care. $3250. Game set and match Apple.

Photo Booth not working - OS Yosemite- Macbook Air 11-Inch

Dear Apple Community,
Has anyone experience having problem with Photo Booth while on Apple OS Yosemite? I currently updated my OS on my MacBook Air 11inch and my photobooth Application cannot record more then 20 Mins, - Immediately after 20 mins the application crashes.
Went to my Apple reseller and technical staff said the same thing and cannot seem to identify why this is happening. So they advice me not to upgrade to Yosemite and just stay on Maverick.
Hope to get some feedback from the community on this.

I've got a MacBook Pro 13-inch from early 2011. Photo Booth will only video in fits and starts, so the videos I attempt are very choppy. Sometimes it records sound while occasionally taking a still. Photobooth occasionally crashes. I've got over 100 gigs of free space, I've reset the PRAM twice, and I'm in the process of deleting more files.

ICloud not working on my MacBook Air its already signed in and cant sign out

Trying to set up iCloud on my MacBook Air, going into System Preferences, iCloud, my account is signed in but the bar below which says iCloud storage is blank, nothing is saved to my iCloud. How do I do this and how do I put all my photos onto iCloud from iPhotos too. I have never used iCloud so new to this. Many thanks

You icloud storage does not store photos, use some other service for storing photos, like Dropbox.
There is a service in icloud called Photo Stream that temporarily stores photos - but this is for syncing photos from one device to another, it's not a photo storage service (it only keeps photos for up to 30 days).
For the most part, icloud is a syncing service. For example, if you have a Pages document, you can store it on icloud so that other devices can access it and edit it. But that document is also store locally on your mac.

IPhoto not working on new Macbook Air

I have just have all my data transferred from my old 2008 Macbook Air to this new 5th Gen Macbook Air and now iPhoto won't open.
It says - In order to open iPhoto you need to update to the latest version. The version of iPhoto installed on this mac is not compatible with OS X Yosemite. Download the latest version for free from Mac App Store.
Then it says the item is not currently available from the UK Mac App Store.
How do i check all my photos are on this machine?

Officejet Pro 8600 Plus not working wirelessly with MacBook Air 10.9.2

Downloaded drivers did not work - Apple cannot solve. When I tried installing the software from the disk it says it is only compatible with OS 10.7 or below. Mine is 10.9.2
I have two of the Officejt Pro 9600 Plus printers in separate locations and have the same issue with both printers.

Both FaceTime and iMessage is not working on my Macbook Air

My facetime and imessage both randomly stopped working last week. I upgraded to Mavericks a few weeks ago but have only been having an issue for around a week. I have found that they do work if I log into my guest account, but they do not work on my main account. I have even reinstalled Mavericks, but have had no luck.
Any help would be amazing!

aiizaztarliq21: I solved my problem, and here is how I did it. I don't know if it will work for you or not, but it's worth a shot.
1. Make the time zone on the Mac not automatic (but correct to your time and zone), and change something in that pref. pane so that it overwrites the old prefs file.
2. Log out of iMessages, iCloud, etc., on your iOS devices
3. Un-associate your Apple ID with your computer user login (in System Preferences > Users and Groups).
4. Sign out of iCloud on your Mac.
5. Reboot.
6. Re-associate your Apple ID with your user login. If you see a caution icon next to it, double-click. Should disappear.
7. Launch iMessages and attempt to log in.
8. Then log in to iCloud via System Preferences > iCloud
If that doesn't work, do these steps, then go back to # 1, above.
9. Delete all the Apple tokens and keys in the Keychain (might break some other things--may be why I can't log in via Safari right now).
10. Reinstall Mavericks/OS X.
11. Repeat steps 1–8.

My i phone search was deactived after my new iPad air had a production fault and had to return it. Now FaceTime is not working on our macbook air. any ideas how to activate FaceTime. it looks like it is working, ringing etc but does not connect.
