Media creation?

I downloaded these files to install from. I usually make a backup of the install directories onto cd. That does not seem to be a problem for the base install 10.2.0.1:
$ ls -lh Linux_Grid_Control_full_102010_disk*
-rw-r--r--@ 1 oracle oinstall 614M Mar 17 13:40 Linux_Grid_Control_full_102010_disk1.zip
-rw-r--r--@ 1 oracle oinstall 587M Mar 17 13:40 Linux_Grid_Control_full_102010_disk2.zip
-rw-r--r--@ 1 oracle oinstall 526M Mar 17 13:39 Linux_Grid_Control_full_102010_disk3.zip
but these files to patch to 10.2.0.5 may need a dvd.
$ ls -lh gc_*
-rw-r--r--@ 1 oracle oinstall 1.1G Mar 16 16:51 gc_10205_part1of2.zip
-rw-r--r--@ 1 oracle oinstall 1.1G Mar 16 16:49 gc_10205_part2of2.zip
If I burn a dvd of the files/dirs that expand out of these zip files, will the installer be able to use this?
This seems kinda crazy. The patch is bigger than the base. Weird. Seems like it's time for a new base install release.

That shouldn't be a problem. I guess all the installer cares is for the files it needs to install not the media type.

  • HP Recovery media creation troubles-Can't run

    Hi,
    I have a hp pavilion dv6 notebook, operation with windows 7 64bits. I'm trying to create a recovery media with a usb drive, i followed the recovery instructions given by HP support. The creation began and everything was fine, till the step of device verification, there's an error message at 31%. The message is:
    " we are experiencing errors in recovery media creation. please try again"
    I tried again, but same result.
    I tried to change the "User account control settings" to "nevery notify" as recommended by HP recovery process instructions, but same result.
    In hp recovery manager, the system recovery option can not be highlighetd (Disabled: please use recovery media to recover your system).
     Trying to look for a solution in forums, I found that trying to create the media in safe mode can resolve the problem, so tried it. When i run the HP recovery media creation under safe mode, its window is displayed with front screen saying: "Please insert battery. Battery must be installed and the computer must be connected to the power adapter to continue this process". I wish to specify that my battery is inserted and the power adapter too. So why it tells me that ???!!!!
    I tried to reactivate (D:Recovery) volume, but it is  not highlighted, so I can't do it.
    Trying to run recovery process by pressing F11 at startup, give me a windows boot manager screen with the follonwing:
     "windows failed to start. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. to fix the problem:
    1.insert windows installation discand restart.
    2.choose language. 3. repair your computer.
    if you do not have this disc. contact system administrator or computer manufacturer for assisatnec.
    File: \Boot\BCD
    Status: 0x0000225
    info: an error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data."
    Tell me please how to create my recovery usb drive in this case, to finally recover my computer to factory state because I think I have a serious problem with it, specialy startup.
    The disk management  tell me that all the computer partitions are healthy and dynamic, all are NTFS, except HP_Tools which is FAT32. I also created a partition (F of 440 Go/910 Go when I bought the laptop. In case it May help...
    Thank you in advance

    When you created the extra partition your hdd was converted from Basic to Dynamic_which breaks the Recovery partition function. It also breaks the ability to create Recovery Media from the partition.
    You will need to use Disk Management to delete the extra partition. You will also need to convert the hdd back to Basic- which will require a little more work.
    Use Option 1 here to convert to Basic:

  • Error in recovery media creation

    I bought  a new HP laptop recently.Its a HP PAVILION G6 2320TX.I ran the Recovery Media  Creation .After the initial setup and burning of files onto my first dvd,when it comes to verify, i am getting an error that states "We are experiencing errors in recovery media creation. Please try again.” ,and the disk ejects out.
    I use SONY DVD-R media so,i guess there shouldn't be any problem with the brand.I tried doing this a couple of time and each time i got the same error.
    Has anyone else experienced this? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Akash.

    Hello Akash_Sanu,
    I see that you are having problems with the recovery discs creation on your computer.
    I would suggest trying a different brand of disc, here is a link that explains the recovery discs process. If you continue to have problems with the disc creation I would suggest contacting HP support for a set of recovery discs.

    One Time recover media creation allows use of SDCard  yet on the HP Envy Spectre There is no option in the bios to boot from media card.
    Am I missing something?

    Yes. Use USB thumbdrive or DVD disks to create your recovery media.  Since it is a one time operation it is wise to use a media that is known to work.

    Hi,
    While I am preforming a media creation set (using Discs) the process goes well until it reaches the verifying phase and it sends an error after a while saying that it can't verify my media (I've tried it twice and it still the same).
    Now I tried to make in Safe Mode but when I try to launch the Recovery Media Creation it tells me to install Battery while it's installed.
    I tried to contact HP but the server didn't recognize my product and sent me to US/Canada Server, but They Couldn't offer help, I can't call HP cause it's so expensive and can't afford that credit to call them !
    Help If Possible !

    Hello Nakamura011.  I understand you've been unable to create recovery media.
    Have you tried using a different brand of discs?
    Have you had any trouble burning any other media?
    What is the full name of the notebook?  I can't seem to locate any information for that product number.  You could also verify that the product number is correct.  This document can show you where the product number is located.
    You could also try using a USB thumb drive to create the Recovery Media.  This article contains the instructions for creating the USB media.

    This question was solved.

    I don't know why your PC is saying your partition is gone - you're right, it doesn't look gone. I do know that if you use the Support Assistant to make backup copies of your Recovery Disks and Then instruct it to remove the recovery partition to give you more space on the hard drive, it will delete the HP factory image of Windows 8 from the recovery partition and leave the normal Windows repair tools behind.
    There are tools however that allow you to create your own recovery partition complete with these Windows repair tools and a new image of your instalation so you can restore from that. You could use this tool: Windows 7/8 - OEM Recovery Partition Creator found here: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/21978-Windows-7-8-OEM-Recovery-Partition-Creator but thats a lot of work and it would be faster and easier just to backup your data and restore from your HP recovery disks you made from Support Assistant. If you didn't make the disks, HP may opt to send you a copy.. they do not normally do this but I have read that some people have good luck getting a free copy of the media from HP.. otherwise they want you to buy the recovery disks ($40.00) . I suppose it depends on the exact circunstances of your situation.
    Another solution is to use Macrium Reflect Free Edition to ghost or clone your system. You can then restore your whole system even with your custom programs installed, to the exact state it was in when you made the backup image. ( this may take several dvd's) I suggest you go this route because restoring your system with Macrium Reflect is Much faster than restoring from the HP Recovery Disks. Even if you do obtain another copy of the Recovery Disks, you should use this tool to make another backup that you can customize to your liking. Your re-installs will be faster, they will already have your chosen software installed, and you will save wear and tear on your HP Recovery Disks.  You can then safely delete the recovery partition to gain back that space on your hard drive (since you cannot access it anyway, you won't need that space being taken up).  BUT.. you cannot restore from UEFI Mode which is what HP ships with. You have to go into your Bios settings, and switch to Legacy Bios mode, (which disables Secure Boot) FIRST or else the Macruim recovery boot disk will not load to install the recovery image. After the system re-installs you can go back into bios settings and disable Legacy bios and re-enable secure Boot if you like. ( Windows 8 will load in both UEFI mode with secure boot enabled or Legacy bios mode.. it's your choice. UEFI mode will load faster but it will cause problems if you want to dual boot the system with another OS)  Hope this helps.

  • Windows 10 media creation tool closes after creating installation media

    I have just upgraded my Windows 8 PC to Windows 8.1. Now I wanted to upgrade it to Windows 10, and for that I downloaded the media creation tool and used the "UPGRADE MY PC NOW" option. It downloaded fine and after the download it went to Verification and then to Creating Installation Media for Windows 10.After it was complete to 100% , the Window immediately closed and nothing happened.  Any help?

    I would create the bootable media and upgrade using that. You will need a 8gb or larger flash drive, once created you boot from that and start the upgrade process.

  • Satellite C55T - Windows 10 media creation tool closes after Creating Windows 10 Media

    This morning I was trying to do a Windows 10 upgrade on our Satellite C55T using the media creation tool at - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 After reaching 100% of the upgrade point of "Creating Windows 10 Media" the program just closes completely and nothing else happenes, no error message, just closes like I never started it to begin with. I tried running the program again and the same thing happens. Hopefully someone knows of a solution to this, any ideas anyone ? Thanks !

    ok, not being extremely familiar with messing with ISO files I finally realized what I was doing wrong. I had originally downloaded the Win 10 ISO file direct to a DVD and it would not install, then I realized I needed to download it to the hard drive and then burn it onto a DVD. Once I did that I was able to install it on that computer successfully ! This method (ISO download) was used because I was unable to get a reservation app to appear and I was also unable to install via the Windows 10 media installation tool.

  • Media Exception "Error Media Creation"

    I have just started learning JavaFX and I am trying to create a very simple Video Player. This is the code :
    public void start(Stage primaryStage) {
    Group root = new Group();
    Media media = new Media("file:C:/Users/Hekaton/Desktop/commercial.mp4");
    MediaPlayer player = new MediaPlayer(media);
    MediaView view = new MediaView(player);
    root.getChildren().add(view);
    Scene scene = new Scene(root, 400, 400);
    primaryStage.setScene(scene);
    primaryStage.show();
    player.play();
    A very simple player, however I encounter this Exception when the Stage loads : com.sun.media.jfxmedia.MediaException: "Error media creation". The exception seems to happen at this line "Media player = new MediaPlayer(media);".
    Can anybody help me with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi. You have two problems here:
    1. Mp4 is not a supported format. Take a look at the Supported Media Codecs:
    http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/media/overview.htm
    2.     Wrong file protocol:
    Media media = new Media("file:///c://Users//Hekaton//Desktop//commercial.mp4");

  • Recovery Media Creation no longer available on New laptop

    I have just received a new G255 laptop.  First thing I did was try to create recovery media. HP Recovery Manager states "Create a set of recovery media for your system (Recovery Partition has been removed - The Recovery media creation option is no longer Available)
    It also states Recovery Partition has been removed, but there is a Recovery (D drive showing with 2.14GB free of 19.6 GB
    The recovery partition, when clicked on is empty, even after making hidden files show.
    Is there any way to get recovery media, ot should i return the laptop?

    Hi:
    If you live in the USA/Canada call this number and you can order a set of recovery media.
    1-800-334-5144
    Have the serial number handy to give to the customer services rep.
    Or you can see if you can return it to where you purchased it from.

  • Respect original media creation date in final cut server ?

    my question is...
    is there any way for final cut server to respect the original finder creation date of the media? I do understand that the file is being newly created in the database and thus will have a creation and modification date of when you put it in, but is there a way to tell the database to change the data.
    Why am i trying to do this?
    I have a bunch of old footage that has a creation date reflecting the actual date the footage was created off the camera. I use this date created to find footage in my database such as all footage from a shoot between 10/2/09 and 10/8/09.
    What i have tried:
    I have tried using the A Better Finder Attributes application to change the date created after i have imported the footage into final cut server. this caused issues with the proxy and thumbnail creation when i went to reanalyze the footage to see what it would do. I saw that final cut server does not look at the file itself to know when it was created and only logs this creation date in its own database without looking to the original file for this information.
    I currently have a field in final cut server to manually enter the date but this is yet another step that someone needs to take when importing footage to server and the less steps the better.
    do i have any options for final cut server 1.5 to respect the finder creation date of the original media? or change it after the import into fcserver?
    What good is the creation date in fcserver if you have amassed years of old footage to be put into your database and find footage based on date it was originally created?
    or what good is the creation date if you are on a shoot and do not get to ingest the footage until you get back, say maybe a few weeks later? how would you know when you shot which footage on what day?
    Thanks for your help

    H.264 is a puzzling choice of codec for edit proxies. H.264 is not an edit-friendly codec since it is a complex long-GOP structure and will require a ton of rendering just to play back the timeline. ProRES 422 Proxy would be a much better choice for editing. I'm afraid I can't account for the differences between Compressor and FCServer in this case, but my gut tells me the non-I-frame codec you are trying to use for edit proxies might have something to do with it. Maybe for an edit-proxy workflow to operate properly on the server-side the codec must be I-frame? Is there any reason you do not want to use ProRES 422 Proxy? They are about 1/3 the footprint of 720p24 DVCPRO-HD, which is already very efficient. For that frame rate and frame size they would be roughly half the heft of good ol' DV25.
    So my answer to all three questions would be to try ProRES 422 Proxy for your edit proxies and see if everything lines up.

  • OSD media creation, associated management points list empty.

    I have an installation of SCCM 2012 R2. I'm trying to create task sequence media.  I start the create task sequence media wizard, select bootable media, next, dynamic media, next, enter a media file location for CD/DVD set, next, uncheck protect media
