Media=Disconnected concern

All this started because I needed to reset Email password(bellsouth) I was connected with a person from helpMeconnect.com  He began walking me through steps to use the command line, once he realized I was familiar with ipconfig and such things progressed
a little faster.
With the command line open-ipconfig- we see media   disconnected. We also see my IP addressed is being used by a foreign country(shared)
After running a full tree view on my IPaddress, he said I needed assistance by someone with level 5 security for Internet Protocol.
Yes, money is involved. $149-$300
Cant I just reset my IP address and re connect the media thingie?
Sincerely,
Really upset IP.

Hi,
"He began walking me through steps to use the command line, once he realized I was familiar with ipconfig and such things progressed a little faster. "
What's the meanning?
With the command line open-ipconfig- we see media   disconnected.
Media disconnect should have been there before unless you disable IPv6 if not that is there be default in your OS. Media disconnected has always been there for the interface that is connected like your wired network connection.
If your could connect to Internet, please ignore it.
Don't forget to set your IP address and DNS Address as "obtain *** automatically" as below guide:
Change TCP/IP settings
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/change-tcp-ip-settings#1TC=windows-7
If it doesn't help, please post your ipconfig /all outout in your next reply in order to analyze better.

  • Wireless not connected media disconnected

I have a Compaq presario with wireless & wired lan, running winXP sp2 and all latest updates.  I have comcast connection, motorola modem, vonage phone, linksys router nr041 then a linksys wrt45gs wireless router.  I have upgraded the firmware also.  I can connect to the wired connection with no problems.  I cannot connect to the wireless because I get the message "no connection".  when I look in the ipconfig I see the message "media disconnected".  Contacted linksys and tried their suggestions, the wireless router resetting, both router resets, both router and modem resets and no luck.  I changed the settings to remove all security, disabled my firewall, changed the channel to every one from 1-11.  Still no connection.  Anyone got any new ideas?

My computer must be unique.  I have a Broadcom.  At any rate after trying for weeks I managed to get it running.  I did so many things I am not sure what ones worked.  What I do know is HP was the most helpful in solving the issue.  After I downloaded a couple of helper files and a couple of upgrades, it popped right up there.  I still need to secure it but I am going to enjoy what I have for a couple of days before I change anything.  (Scared).  I live in a rural area so not worried much about someone accessing it for a couple of days.
    Thanks fall all the help.

  • K7N420 + WinXP + Netgear RP114 = Network Media Disconnected

I'm using Cox cable connection at home.  When I connect the ethernet cable through the Netgear RP114 Cable Router/Switch, I get an error message in WinXP saying that the cable is not connected.  The link light on the Motherboard blinks once every second. ipconfig also shows media disconnected.
When I connect the cable directly from the modem to the motherboard, both the link and util lights are on (neither of them are blinking), but I get a 0.0.0.0 IP in windows XP.   The "media disconnected" went away, but still can't get online because of the 0.0.0.0 IP.
    Any1 have this problem b4 ? Any solution ?

i had the same problem with my nforce mobo. after i flashed back to Bios 2.4 on my mobo. when you use bios 2.5 or 2.6 on your msi 6373 mobo try flashing back to 2.4 !

  • Netcfg will not setup static IP with media disconnected

The title says it all.  If I don't physically have my network cable plugged in, setting a network profile with a static IP fails.  Also, there doesn't appear to be a setting for subnet mask.
Please help, without this functionality I'm stuck back using Windows with netsh scripts, which I'm really trying to get away from.

Ok, it's not as bad as I thought.  At least once you have the static set, if the media is temporarily disconnected, it does't drop the static setup like networkmanager does.  I think I can live with this setup, although it would be nice if you could set the static ignoring the carrier signal.

  • Media disconnected in FCP7, corrupt Xsan?

Hi folks, I posted this in the FCP7 community as well, but am unsure if it's an FCP or an Xsan issue...
I ran across this issue a month or two ago with one of my student workers.  We were able to fix the problem on the fly and I just assumed it was user error that caused his files to go wonky, but now I can't see that as the answer.  I don't really know how to describe the problem without just saying what exactly happened:
I exported a video yesterday morning.  The sequence was perfectly intact and there was no missing media anywhere in the project (which isn't big, 1 sequence, and only about 15 gb of ProRess422 movies in 18 clips).  After exporting I closed the project; throughout the rest of the day yesterday I worked on other projects, but never that project.
Today, I opened the project and 6 of the 18 clips show up as offline.  When I click reconnect, FCP tells me it's looking in the root directory of the Xsan for the clips, where they have never been located.  I did a Log and Transfer from a Canon Vixia first thing when I started the project so the .mov's went straight to the Capture Scratch (which has never moved).
When I go to "Locate" the files, the clips in the Capture Scratch that I should be able to reconnect with are grayed out.  If I deselect "Matched Name and Reel Only" then I can select the file I want, but when I do I get the message: "File Attribute Mismatch - some attributes do not match the original, etc.."  If I say "Continue" then it reconnects and ends up being the wrong file (that threw me for a loop).
So after this happened I went into my Finder into the Capture Scratch and went through the 18 clips.  It looks like what happened is some files were deleted, and then replaced with the same name but with a different file.  Specifically: I have clips 138-155.  Clip 146 is now the exact same as Clip 153, whereas yesterday morning they were completely different.
Has this happened to anyone else?  It could very well be an issue with our Xsa, but I've only noticed the problem in FCP.
Running FCP 7.0.3, and OSX 10.6.8 on MacPro and Xsan.  Xsan is hooked up via fiber.
    Thanks!

Thanks, Jerry... it didn't seem as though they were finding the underlying data even after render - but the clips are online now. I've been struggling with fixing a project that has had a corrupt file that caused memory usage to peg at 16.7TB - ultimately crashing FCP unpredictably. I made a new project file and imported the original clips (.mov) into that new folder. One of the clips came up: File Error, 0 access, 1 Unknown. I couldn't find that the clip was even used in the original project timeline, but have deleted it permanently. I copied the original timeline to a new project, minus the file that had the error issue. It appears to be operating properly... it pulls 2G of real memory vs. 16.7TB for the original file. Have I fixed the issue or will it crop up again?
Thanks very much for the reply. I am having to troubleshoot this alone and as a relative plebe - it's pretty nightmarish...

  • Constant media disconnections

My DVd studio projects are all saved on the local HD. My media files are all stored on a 1 Terabyte External Lacie drive connected via firewire 800. THe last few days everytime I open one of my projects all the media on the external HD is offline. I can easily reconnect it and all seems to be well. However I'd liketo figure out whats going on here.
    Thanks for your help

Re connect the media then make sure to save the project. Close, then reopen it should be connected then.
Also check yyour FW and power supplies if this does not work, it can be dismoutning somehow

prioritization Sir i tweaked/looked at it but it seems it doesnt support prioritizations.

It is called QOS (Quality of Service) for this router. It is under the Applications and Gaming Tab. This one let's you set priority for internet bandwidth to certain application or device. By the way, If you want a simplier way of doing Media Prioritization, try Linksys' Smart Routers.

  • WRT54GS / Vista Home Premium / Media disconnected Problem [NEED HELP]

Okay, I of course own the Linksys WRT54GS
My wife's HP laptop connects wirelessly runs Visa Home Premium and usually auto connects to the wireless network.
Our network shows it is available, excellent strength, when she clicks to join a network, it acts like it is going to connect then "Windows can not connect to network"
She tried to diagnose and repair to correct the problem in Vista and "Can not correct more than one problem at a time" This is strange because she is not trying to correct any other issue.
I had her connect using the ethernet cable and she is able to get online.
I own a Gateway laptop that runs XP Pro and I am able to connect to the router via wired or wireless with no problem.
I am also able to connect wirelessly with my iPod touch with no problem.
Can anyone help me with this issue?

Click start >> Control Panel >> Network and Sharing Center >> Manage Wireless Networks, here remove all the networks present and close the Window...
Click on Connect to a Network and try to re-connect to your Network, it should ask for your Network Key/Password, enter the correct password/network key and click Connect...
It should connect...Once you are connected you should restart the computer, it should connect to Internet...

  • Wireless media disconnected (WRT54G)

Regarding this problem I used  a few command for example: ipconfig/all, reset wireless zero configuration; my laptop & my desktop see the Router they pick up the SSID, but unable to connect. However when I went out there with my laptop to another neighborood it pick up signal and was able to go on the Internet. When I went back home it sees it, but no connection. I reset the Router, I still have the same message. So, is there any other command I have to use to make the Router back on the track. It used to work properly, anytime I turn on my laptop in the right corner I can see how quick the Router is giving an IP address to the laptop. If I connect a Cat5 from the router to the laptop, yes I found connection to go on the internet. Remove the Cat5 no connection. I have a feeling there is something does not go well in the Router. So, could you please help me
    Best regards,

  • WRT54GS-Wireless devices either won't connect or disconnect when a game is launched

My old router went out last night, and I had a wrt54gs that was given to me a while back, so I hooked it up, but I am having some issues with it.
For a while it would say that it had no internet access, when it was connected. Then I couldn't get my wireless devices to connect (xbox, and cell phone) All I had done was change the name and the encryption to WEP.
I was able to get them online when I switched to WPA2 for a while. Then I decided to play a game (Tried Diablo 3 and Path of Exile)  Every time I loaded up the game, the devices would get kicked off. WHen I disconnected from the game, they would reconnect to the network. Until 1 time they didn't. Now my Xbox wont connect at all, and my phone keeps saying the network is not in range, when placed a foot from the router. I've tried disabling UPnP, but that doesn't do anything. I've turned MAC filtering, on and off. I've powercycled, and just get no good results.
I'm not sure if this is just a bad router, or whats, going on. (FYI my old router was a 10 yr old D-link that I never had problems with)

  • Now my NIC card doesn't work: MEDIA DISCONNEC

I was helping my brother install an Audigy 2 ZS to replace his Soundblaster Li've. His machine is a Shuttle VIA Chipset with a P3-733, 52 pc-33 RAM, an old LinkSys 0mbp card with CAT5 and 0B-T connectors on the back (using the CAT5). The network card is plugged into a D-LINK router and which is then connected to a SurfBoard 300 Cable Modem. Before we turned it off the internet connection was working correctly. Anyways, unplugged all of the wires, openned the computer, pulled out the old LIVE card, stuck the new AUDIGY in, replugged everything and ran the Audigy installer (drivers off of CD) and rebooted. At this point the little icon in Windows (XP Pro SP2) that shows your network is not connected was showing. First I checked the wire. Have a green light on the NIC, a green light on the router that comes and goes as I plug the wire in and out. To be sure I tried with another wire as well. I pulled the power on the Router, the Wireless router addon box (also a D-LINK), the cable modem and turned the computer off. Then booted Cable Modem, Computer and then router(s). Still nothing IPCONFIG = Media Disconnected. So then I plugged the cable modem directly into the computer. Did all of the same resets / reboots, IPCONFIG, flushDNS, RELEASE, RENEW... etc... still Media Disconnected. So I am at a lose. What should I do next?
I hear that the Audigy 2 ZS drivers could be causing an IRQ conflict... Would changing PCI slots help?Could this be a registry problem? Would running a restore point help? Should I go out and buy another network card (I know 00mbp card is an upgrade and not expensi've)... Should I pull the Audigy out and put the Li've back in to see if this fixes it's What am I missing?
Ideally I would be able to fix things without having to try a new network card, or bringing back the Audigy... Thanks! Dan P.

    Dan,
Try changing the PCI slots on the Audigy 2 ZS. If that doesn't help you may want to cleansweep and reinstall both the Audigy 2 ZS and the NIC (Reinstall the Audigy 2 ZS first then the NIC). Instructions on how to cleansweep the Audigy 2 ZS can be found at:

  • No internet access after disconnecting from VPN

    Summary:
windows fails to restore normal network after disconnecting from a VPN network, the PPP adapter which represent VPN connection stays in the interface list even after disconnection. system has no network access to anywhere.
    Synopsis:
    a. Win 7 Pro x64 Client computer in a home network without any corporate firewall software connects successfully to VPN using windows VPN connection. (Rasdial)
    b. after disconnecting from VPN, client lost internet and local connections.
    c. ipconfig -all shows PPP adapter (VPN) still exits as an network interface in nonoperational state.
    d. pinging any ip address except localhost results in "no resources" error.
    e. trying to dial VPN again results in "element not found" error.
    Solutions I tried so far:
    ipconfig -release and ipconfig -renew.
    Disable / Enable Wireless Adapter.
    rasdial "vpn connection" /d
currently the only solution is restarting the PC after each VPN usage which is very frustrating.

Hi Ivan and thanks for your reply,
I tried "netsh winsock reset", unfortunately it didn't fix the problem.
The status Icon is normal, no indication of limited or no connectivity, I can ping and open the router webpage at 192.168.1.1.
here is the result of ip config command, hope it helps, if you want I can provide netstat result or any other net diag command you want.
as you can see the PPP adapter still in the list which it shouldn't be.

  • How to avoid erase and sync when choosing to manually manage media?

I have bought a new iMac and formatted my old Macbook. Now, I am starting with a new iTunes library. I want to add more songs to my iPhone manually (choosing the new ones and adding them and leaving some out) without erasing and syncing, as that would erase my entire iPhone of all my hard-earned purchases. PLEASE help!

Did you backup all your documents and data first? Normally your user profile contains a Music folder which in turn holds the iTunes folder. All the important details of your library are in there, with the media below in a folder called iTunes Media. If you lose this information and then connect your device to an empty iTunes library it will want to clean out the device and start over. Switching to manual management carries the same penalty, at least as far as the media is concerned.
You should be able to transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any non-store purchased media with the tips in  this post from forum regular Zevoneer, then restore the device from the backup you just made. That should  preserve all your data and switch the assocation of the device to the new machine. I've had positive feedback on this method from other users but I've never had to test it personally as I backup my library.
