Media Encoder CC rendering adjustment layer seperately

I just bought a new Mac Pro with all the goodies there were available and now want to use it as the central Mac for exporting Premiere Pro sequences.
We work from a central server which has all the projects on it. Our different co-workers here sit behind their Macs and open projects from the server.
I've set up AME on the Mac Pro to check a watch folder for Final Cut XML's which my co-workers export from their Mac's. The problem is that whenever
there is an adjustment layer in a sequence.. AME exports that separately from the rest of the sequence. How do I get it to export just the sequence with
the adjustment layer in it?
Thanks!

Adjustment layers are not support by FCP XML so this will never work unfortunately. I do see the issue you describe though and how the adjustment layer is interpreted varies based on whether you exported the sequence or the project. However, the point is irrelevant since the adjustment layer will never render properly regardless of how you export the XML.

  • Adobe Media Encoder pausing rendering while working in Premiere Pro

    Hello everyone,
So I am redering a video in Adobe Media Encoder and at the same time I am editing a new one in Premiere Pro.
I noticed that AME is constantly pausing the rendering and did not know why. It turns out that while I'm editing a video in Premiere Pro, I am constantly pressing the space bar to start/pause the video I'm editing. While I do that, AME keeps pausing/unpausing the rendering. Somehow, pressing the space bar in PP has an effect in AME.
I have no clue why it does that because the Premiere Pro window has the focus, not the AME one.
    Has anyone ever seen that?
I use Windows 8 and Adobe CC.

    Hi Rallymax,
Yes I do queue footage by having an Autowatch set up on the directories where the video is written to.  I rarely do a direct export unless testing new settings.
Don't take this as gospel but I too had a feeling that GPU acceleration didn't happen with AME, only direct export.  Not sure where that came from, I did watch some of the recent Adobe TV Web Seminar's about new features of CC products etc, so maybe on one of those?
I found this while trying to find out where I had seen it but it is from AMD site not Adobe so whether it's fully 100% correct I dunno:
    Adobe Media Encoder
The Adobe Media Encoder (AME), with support for OpenCL™ and GPU acceleration, automates the production of multiple encoded versions of source files, sequences, and compositions in Premiere Pro CC. With the GPU-accelerated AME and AMD graphics technology, editors can quickly encode projects and output files for virtually any destination. AMD GPUs handle the heavy lifting, freeing the system’s CPU to perform other functions.
I will try the same test as Jason, if I can find any AVHCD video and see what the results are.  Will be interesting.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CC renders do not reflect changes to Dynamically Linked After Effects Comps

When rendering a Premiere timeline with a dynamically linked After Effects composition, Adobe Media Encoder will sometimes use an older version of the linked composition (even after I have saved changes in the After Effects comp).
For example, if I correct a spelling mistake on some text in After Effects, save the composition, and then add the sequence to the render queue in Premiere, the final output from media encoder still has the old spelling.
If I do a straight export from Premiere instead of adding to render queue, the output is always correct. I've noticed this problem on several different Windows 8.1 systems.
All versions of the software are up to date as of today.
Why is this? Is it something to do with the disk cache in After Effects? Does media encoder have it's own cache that I need to clear?

Hi, I've been having this same issue.  Here are some additional things I've noticed about it:
Changes are reflected properly when played back on timeline in Pr CC 2014.
Happens regardless if the dynamic link file was rendered or not, thus deleting the render files does not fix the issue.
The issue can persist through saving, closing, and reopening both AE and Pr.
I'm using OSX 10.9.4, so this is not just a PC issue.
Other than manually watching for every change to be reflected in the render, there is no way to know a problem has occurred.  Needless to say this can be incredibly costly.
Please address this quickly, it's completely unacceptable that what we render out could be a different version from what we see on the timeline.
PS Some additional things I will be testing:
Does the issue persist through closing all CC apps, including Media Encoder.
Does rendering directly out of Pr, i.e. not using Media Encoder, fix the issue.

  • Adobe Media Encoder cuts off video layer when the Ultra Key effect is applied

I am working on a Mac (10.8.5) using the latest verison of Premiere Pro CC. I am using Ultra Key to remove the chroma key background from the "talent layer" and adding a "new background layer" behind the talent video layer. When I export directly from Premiere, the sequence exports as expected. However, I have many sequences, and wish to speed up the  process using Adobe Media Encoder. When I export the same sequence using Adobe Media Encoder, the top half of the "talent layer" is completly cut off:
The issue has something to do with the Ultra key effect because when I remove the effect from the "talent layer" it exports in tact (with a chroma key background of course). Adobe Media Encoder CC is up to date as well; are there any known bugs with Media Encoder CC and the Ultra Key effect in Premiere Pro?
    Thanks!

  • Media Encoder not rendering full video

So I just got Premiere Pro CC with Media Encoder and am trying to render a video I made in premiare pro. However video starts rendering half way throught the video and when done only the second half of the video is done. How can I fix?

Im kinda suffering the same thing, i dunno whats happened recently but its since the yosemite update. Im having to render in about 5 attempts each time rendering a bit further.

  • Media Encoder is rendering an older version of my Premiere timeline.

This has happened to me on a few occasions, where I have a dynamically linked After Effects comp in my Premiere timeline, the changes I make appear as they should in the Premiere timeline, but when I queue it to Media Encoder or render directly through Premiere, it renders the older version of the AE comp, as if it thinks nothing has changed. This happens even after cleaning the cache, saving a new copy and restarting premiere.
The only way I've managed to fix it, is by saving a new copy of the Premiere project file over the temp file submitted to Encoder.
This is how it looks on my timeline (Correct):
How it looks when I queue through Encoder (Incorrect):
Any help on how to avoid this in the future would be much appreciated!
    Cheers,
    S

I thought you had something working after you installed FFDshow tryout.
It would be helpful if you could upload one of your files that you can't convert to a file sharing website. Then others can download the file and work with it on their machine to see if they can convert it.
I use MediaFire's (http://www.mediafire.com) free plan to upload and share files. For example, http://www.mediafire.com/?uhpmob5nc1w6q is a link to one of my files: "Kodak Zi8 720 30p." It's not a direct link.

  • I can't choose Adobe Media Encoder when rendering to video in photoshop

I am trying to export an animation in Photoshop CC.
Under Render to Video, the dialog box does not allow me to choose "Adobe Media Encoder" (it is greyed out)
    Why is that?
I have Adobe Media Encoder CS6 and CC.
    Thanks!

Unfortunately, photoshop cc doesn't support video on mac os x 10.6.8 and that's why you not able to export using the Adobe Media Encoder.

  • When I add my composition to the Adobe Media Encoder from After Effects, it renders out incorrectly?

Why is it that when I add my composition directly from after effects to the adobe media encoder, it renders out of the adobe media encoder incorrectly? By that I mean the video comes out a little scrambled- parts of it overlap other parts. Is this an issue with 'dynamic link'? Did I do something wrong? I'm working in CC.

I also don't understand what you are saying. What do you mean by "parts of it overlap other parts"? A screen shot might help.
What were your render settings in AME? (Format, Codec, data rate, etc.)
What is in your AE comp? If footage, tell us what format, codec, etc. Tell us what effects were used too.
What exact version number of AE CC are you using?

  • Long load times normal for Adobe Media Encoder from Premiere CS5?

When I export a sequence from Adobe Premiere CS5 using Adobe Media Encoder, the system freezes for several minutes before giving me the exporter screen.  Then, when I've loaded my settings and clicked "export," the system again freezes for several minutes before beginning to encode.    I'm using a system with an Intel I7 CPU 930 @ 2.80Ghz 2.80 Ghz., 24 GB of ram, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit operating system and an Nvidia quadro FX4800 graphics card..  Everything else is fast, but AME is slow.  Is this normal? Should I reinstall AME?

Not sure what you mean about the process.  From Premiere CS5, I click on "export" which brings up a menu. I select "media" from the menu which brings up the Adobe Media Encoder.  I adjust my settings and click "export" from the bottom of the screen to immediately render the Premiere file.  Clicking "Queue" would put the program into the AME Queue.  Am I missing something?  On the slowness issue, looks like I need to reinstall AME. I've been reluctant to do that, partially because I'm using some Matrox hardware and I'll have to reinstall the Matrox softare to populate the matrox settings into the media encoder. Looks like it may be worth it.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CC 7.2.0.43 still crashes after beginning of encoding - bugs for months now!

Adobe Media Encoder CC 7.2.0.43 is still crashing after beginning of encoding! In my case this bug exists for months now and Adobe is not able to get rid of its own programming faults! The user pays a lot of money for the license and doesn't get a functioning software! I spent days to get a solution now, but NOTHING of your suggested help works!
This is my 'support' history beginning in AUGUST (!):
    Sent: Thursday, August 15, 2013 ...
    Subject: Bug Report
    Product: Adobe Media Encoder
    Product Version: CC
    Operating System : Windows 7
    OS version: Service P1
Concise problem statement: Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Go to Premiere Media Export
    2. Stating Media Export Parameters for ME
    3. Starting ME
    4. Define video title and path
    5. Start Media Encoder CC rendering
    6. ME states 'Preview not available'
    7. Rendering aborts after about 15 sec.
    8. Media Encoder CC crashes, no matter which kind of video! Every time.
    9. Direct 'Export' from Premiere CC is possible with all the same parameters, but CC AME crashes!
    10. Also installed Premiere CS 6 Media Encoder WORKS without any problems, but not the CC Media Encoder!!
Expected results: Media Encoder CC WORKING. This is still my expected result as a paying customer!
My steps to solve these problems (with Adobe's help) were / are:
    - Cleant every suggested media cashes.
    - Tried to render the sequences also without audio.
    - Tried to render as one pass.
    - Even if I try just to export ONE simple standard SONY PMW EX1 mp4 file which should never cause problems it chrashes, also without audio.
    - Also if I clean all preferences and caches before, EVERY file type crashes, no matter if I try to export a video or a still picture.
    - This is not happening in Adobe AME CS6 with the same files, but in CC!! CS6 still renders reliably with preview, but CC crashes without being able to show any preview.
    - Held the Shift key down while starting AME. This should reset preferences and so on...
    - Deleted suggested "7.0" directories as described in other forum posts concerning this topic.
    - Logged out of my CC account.
    - Deinstalled and reinstalled PPro, After Effects, InDesign, Flash, using Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. All is the newest version 7.2.
    - Set GPU renderer to "Software Only".  Some video cards have issues when GPU is set to "OpenCL" or "CUDA".
    - Checked updates available for video driver. Latest is installed.
    - Turned off "Enable Native Premiere Pro sequence import" in AME prefs.
    - AMEEncodingErrorLog.txt doesn't have any content, not a single line.
    NOTHING WORKED OR HELPED!

  • Queuing from Premiere Pro to Adobe Media Encoder no longer working? CS6

    Hi there,
Just very recently adobe media encoder has stopped accepting que's from premiere. I choose export in premiere, setup the export details and hit que, adobe media encoder launches, but then it flashes once (like disappears reappears, very quickly) and then it just simply does nothing. No item appears in the que. I have tried opening the premiere sequence directly from adobe media encoder but it does nothing either. If I drag the premiere project directly onto a preset in adobe media encoder, it crashes every time. (though not sure if it would of done this previous to my problem arising)
Anyway, very frustrating as I usually work on a different project whilst media encoder is rendering something out. Now i'm stuck with huge down times as I wait till the render is finished.
Recently updated to Mac OSX 10.8.3 - I think this is when the problem began.
Just updated the CUDA driver to 5.0.45 but this has not changed anything.
Working on a Mac Pro 5,1, 2x2.4Ghz 24GB RAM, EVGA GTX 660 FTW,

Some suggestions and answer at least the 16 questions at the end of the Wiki article.

  • Long time for Adobe Media Encoder to encode 3 minute video

I created a Premiere Pro project with a dynamic link to Adobe After effects (both CS4 versions).
Upon finishing this PremPro project which is a 3 minute song with 3d animation playing in the background, I chose Export Media.
Since first try was taking a long time (15 minutes and little progress), I removed the 3 transitions I had in my Premiere Pro Project, reduced the audio from 128 to 64 bit, decreased the bit rate to its lowerst 56 kbps instead of the default which is something like 1000-2000 kbps I believe (Please let me know default value so I can reset it ) and reduced video size from 960 x 620 to 380 x 244.  I also shut all of my programs that could be chewing up significant memory.
I'm just looking for a rough feel of how things will look so only wanted to start with a 'draft quality' render of my flv - but the Adobe Media Encoder is still saying it will take 1 and a half hours, and this is on a 64 bit, Win 7 system with lots of RAM (24GB) and plenty of hard drive space.
The actual After Effects compositions are fairly complex, with numerous 3d animations superimposed on one another, but I wasn't sure if this sluggishness suggested something was wrong that I need to correct to get quicker performance, or if it's simply a reflection of a complicated scene, and that's how long things will take even at those very minimal settings.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Element 3D errors when exporting to Media Encoder

    Hi there,
Again apologies in advance for the beginner's question.
When exporting to Adobe Media Encoder for rendering, I get unresolvable errors from Video Copilot's Element 3D. Not really sure where to start to fix it...
    Thanks!
    Angela

Sorry about that. Yes, it's probably a hardware problem. Here's my system:
    win 8, 64 bit
    2GB RAM
    intel core 2 duo processor
graphics card nvidia GeForce GT 240
Since I configured the PC for gaming, it's probably safe to assume that it's not quite up to par for animations...
Good to know that the Quicktime>AME is a viable workaround. I'd been doing that but just wondered if there was any way I could skip a step.
    Thanks!

  • Audio Render issue - Media Encoder

    Hello All,
I just ran into a odd audio issue after a render.  Anyone have any idea as to why this is happening?  (audio file below)
Sequence is :  ProRes 1080p 2997.   Rendering to ProRes.  Audio source is a .WAV
    http://www.rtbstudio.com/Clients/AudioError.aif
Additional testing has shown that the issue only occurs when I render out of Adobe Media Encoder.
Rendering straight out of Premiere does not produce this issue.
    Thanks!
    - Ryan
    Premiere 7

You are correct Jim,  I was in a bit of a hurry and didn't check my language.
It is on exports.  Odd thing about this, it only gave me an audio issue when 'exporting' to ProRes.  I did a multitude of client review Quicktime H264's and never had the issue.  Even with the 'Native Premiere Support' checkbox enabled.
It appears de-selecting the 'Native Premiere Support' option works for the prores.
Will Adobe ever address this issue?  This issue makes me really nervous when exporting batches via AME.
    Cheers!

  • Running an AE CC rendering through Media Encoder

Not sure what I need to be concerned with.
The Media Encoder CC is taking about 10 times longer than when I rendered this AE cs6 project in the past.
The AE cc project is 34 seconds and the media encoder is saying it will take 10 hours to render.
    It's a H.264 going to YT HD.
    Any tweaks for improvement?
it's the only thing running using 6 gig memory.

I have a similar slow render issue using ME vs. the AE renderer.
Win 7, i7-3770k @ 4.22 ghz, 32 gb ram. 15 seconds of animation 1080p, 29.97. I'm constantly cleaning the cache and have it on an ssd.
After effects CC completes a .mov using the h.264 codec with 100% quality, in just under 20 min.
The same project with the same render settings takes over 12 hrs in Media Encoder CC. (I didn't let it complete though, that was the eta)
Filter-wise I'm not using much, just 1 layer of optical flares and 1 light in the scene. It's a fairly simple scene with a 3d floor, 2d back wall, and a customers logo in the spotlight.  There is a single optical flare layer in 3d space behind the logo.  The logo has 10 copies offset by 1 pixel in z-space to make a fake 3d logo.  They all have shadows on and I adjusted some of the material settings.
Having said all that, media encoder is severely lagging for some reason, and I don't believe it's a filter issue.  If after effects can complete the task in 20 min, media encoder should not take 720 min (12 hrs), or more, using the exact same project and specs.  That's almost 40 times longer.
As was discussed above with the "refine edge" feature, I don't think that's the problem as I am not using refine edge for my project.  To me It seems like the link between ME and AE is broken/slow.
