Media Encoder crashing when I try to batch a bunch of files

I am trying to have the Media Encoder batch convert a bunch of files, but when I try to add the files, the whole program crashes, or when it's on the first few files, it crashes.
Any suggestions?

XP Pro (x86) SP3
Quad Core (Q6600)
4GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT
I installed the 4.02 update for Media Encoder, but before it was doing the same thing.
Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't.
I was trying to encode wmv files to avi.
It could be there is something else running that is causing this, but I tried closing basically everthing else, and still not stable...

  • Media Encoder crashes when exporting from Premiere Pro

Media Encoder crashes when exporting from Premiere Pro. I am queueing multiple files for export and Media Encoder will crash. The computer system has 32GB of RAM and the videos export fine in Premiere, but that requires exporting each one individually. Each video file is being down converted and some can be quite long (upwards of 3-5 hours). Nothing else is running on the computer that would take up memory.
Any idea why Media Encoder will crash?

    Try turning off GPU acceleration.

Yes, I am trying to utilize Photoshop CS (8.0) and I run Windows 7.1. I installed this from Adobe's Creative Cloud. The program opens, and I am able to open a Photoshop file with it, but then Windows tells me that there is a problem and is shutting down. I'm not sure would the problem might be.

This is totally new to me as I have made a few slidshows before and saved them into wmv-files without any problem.I tried to open the file and renew it "save as" and did the whole procedure over again but it still crasches. There is no video in the slideshow and all pics are .jpg and to summarize it - 5 days of work is nearly gone if this doesent convert into a wmv-file..... Pls advise any suggestion what to try here.

Your crash has nothing to do with the junk filter. It looks more like a corrupt preferences file. If you're curious, you may check the validity of that file issuing the following command in Terminal:
plutil ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plistWhat does it say? Now, try this:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. Make a backup copy of the HOME/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.
    3. In the Finder, go to HOME/Library/Preferences/. Locate the file com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop (to be deleted if this fixes the problem).
You'll have to set up your accounts from scratch all over again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don't. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in HOME/Library/Mail/ when done.
You'll also have to re-configure most of your settings in Mail > Preferences. The first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable "Display remote images in HTML messages" if it's enabled.

  • Premiere Pro, Media Encoder Crashing When Exporting/Rendering

For the longest time if I ever tried to export or render a video longer than 5 minutes, my Premiere Pro or Media Encoder crashes. I don't know why but it is EXTREMELY irritating when attempting to make lengthened gaming videos. I have tried 15 different methods all online, to no avail. • My imovie keeps crashing when I try to share to a QT file.

Does anyone know how to stop the crashing iMovie when I try to Share to a Quicktime File?

I'm just using the default settings in iMovie. There is only one type of project and when you go to share, I just click on export to quicktime. So, whatever it's defaulted in (just the normal settings). Nothing out of the ordinary. It was working fine for the first couple of projects, then it just started crashing almost everytime.

  • Adobe Media Encoder Crashes when launched

    Hello, friends on the forum!
I am using a PC with a Windows XP (Home Edition) o/s.  It has an Intel Pentium 4 cpu @ 2.80 GHz and 2.5 gb or RAM.  This problem just developed: when I try to export a CS4 project, AME hangs and crashes.  I then get a message saying "Adobe Media Encoder CS4 has encountered a problem and needs to close.....yadda, yadda, yadda!"  It then, by itself, tries to launch again with the same dismal result.  Any suggestions as to how I might fix this?  Many thanks in advance!

  • Adobe Media Encoder crashes when borders are applied to the "barn doors" effect.

Pproheadless.exe stops working. End of story. Doesn't matter what kind of clip I try to apply this to. Barn Doors works; Barn Doors with a border doesn't.

Ah, sorry about that. It's what happens when I post in frustration at 5:00 in the morning. But thanks for the response.
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Premiere Pro 5.5.1
    Combined Community Codec Pack
    K-Lite Codec Pack
Not sure if Mercury Playback is enabled. The crash only happens when creating a file in Media Encoder. I've isolated the problem to rendering as a DVD-Mpeg with "Render at Maximum Depth" checked. When it is unchecked, the files render without a crash.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 - Media Encoder Crash when Exporting to MPEG-2

    System:
    Core i7 920 @ 3.8 Ghz
    Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
    12GB DDR3 1600
    External Sound Card - M-Audio ProFire 610
    OS Drive - 2x300GB WD Raptors - Raid 0
    Project Drives - 3x300 WD Raptor - Raid 0
    Video Card - Geforce GTX 285 1GB
Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and Media Encoder CS5 continually crashes or hangs every time I try to export to MPEG-2.  I can successfully render to every other codec without any issue, but need the MPEG-2 for an Adobe Encore Project.
The project is approximately 38 minutes long and contains AVI and MP4 files, all of which were ripped from DVDs as I'm producing a reel for a producer who provided his DVDs for me to rip and use as content.
    Possible issues:
    1.   Currently have Magic DVD Ripper and DVD Fab installed (codec conflicts?)
    2.   Originally ripped the DVDs at 630x360 (my mistake - hadn't really worked with a DVD ripper before and was the largest avi pre-set) and I'm exporting to MPEG-2 standard 720x480 Widescreen)  (I know I should've just ripped them as the original lossless MPEG-2 files - I'm a tool)
    2.   Blank space in the timline (there are a number of these)
I would like to get some input before I try to export to MPEG-2 again as I blew a capacitor on my old mother board (Gigabyte x58-ud3r) after I had gotten my computer to start rendering a MPEG-2 after about 50 tries to export/launch media encoder set on MPEG-2.  I just installed my new motherboard to replace it.  Clearly MPEG-2 taxes the system more so than any other codec (from what I can tell).  However, I thought the issue with the blank space/no media in the timeline was fixed with CS5.  I saw in a previous post that someone thought that ffdshow was conflicting with AME.  I don't have ffdshow, but I believe that's a ripper program like Magic and DVDFab.

I experienced this at one point.  Searching the WEB I saw suggestions that there was a problem with a recent version of Quicktime.  (I have no idea why the quicktime player would have an impact.)  However, reverting to an earlier version of Quicktime fixed the problem.  Search this board using quicktime as a search phase.  The quicktime web site allows you to download the earlier versions.  I'm not at my editing machine, but I believe that I am at version 7.5.2.

  • Crashing when I try to batch

CS5, windows xp. Just started today. When I try to open the batch it says encounterd a problem and closes. Everything else seems to be working properly. I tried a to clear prefs but still doing it. I can open a file and run an action one by one and it works. I want to batch the action to save time. Any suggestions or ideas. A few weeks ago I got this same crash when I tried to open a single file. Ended up reinstalling PS but really don't want to go there again if I don't have to.
    Thanks for any help.
    Marion

    Hi Noel,
    Thanks for responding.
I understand about upgrading to 7 from xp. I will on my next computer. For now though everything was working fine. I put CS5 on the day it was available with no problems.
         • No third party plugins.
         • No apps to change the appearance or interface.
         • Yes running windows classic. Should that be changed back to default?
Like you, everything worked perfectly until just recently. Everything else in CS5 is working. The batch thing is the only annoying thing that is not working. The funny thing is after the reinstall it was working just fine.
Strange that someone else is having the same problem as me. Wonder what our computers have in common?

  • Media encoder crashing when exporting h.264

I have a short 1:30 project I'd like to export using the h.264 codec.  The project is made up of [email protected] h.264 quicktimes shot on a Canon 1DmkIV.  If I export to h.264 using either the 720p or 1080p presets the Media Encoder will do two render passes then crash with an "Unknown Error".  This will happen if I export h.264 or as a quicktime using the h.264.  Strangely if I export as h.264 bluray it works fine but then the audio and video are seperate and not what I need if I intend to upload to Vimeo.  I can successfuly export to other codecs.
I've clicked through premierepro.wikia.com but couldn't seem to find any answers.  Anyone have a suggestion?
    Thanks in advance,
    FYI
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 v.3.2.0 (374)
    Windows XP SP3
    Intel E6850 Duo Core @3Ghz
    4Gb RAM
    nVidia 8800GTX
    Soundblaster X-Fi

Ok, that worked but Media Encoder wouldn't render out with TS checked using PCM audio, I had to change to Dolby Digital.  Once rendered and uploaded to Vimeo the image was displayed as 4:3 but with the anamorphic vertical squeeze even though I was using the 1080p24 preset.  <shrug>
I'm wondering if it is the Mainconcept codec that's buggy.  Is there an alternative h.264 codec to use with Premiere CS3?

  • Program crashes when I try to load EPUB/ASCM ebook file or transfer the file to Nook ereader.

I recently checked out an ebook from my library's OverDrive and downloaded the EPub file to my Mac OS 10.10.1 computer. File downloaded to computer without incident, showing up as a acsm file in my Downloads folder. But when I attempt to open the file in Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.2 in order to transfer it to my Nook ereader, a message comes up saying it is fulfilling (similar to normal) but then the program crashes.
    I get this error message:
    (Adobe Digital Editions quit unexpectedly.
Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more
detailed information and send a report to Apple.
With buttons that say: Ignore    Report     Reopen)
Then when I reopen Adobe Digital Editions, it appears as thought the file is in the Adobe Digital Editions browser, but if I click on it to open it or try and transfer it to my Nook ereader device the program crashes again. (Same error message)
I've tried erasing the file and redownloading the ebook from Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox and the same thing happens. I've also tried restarting my computer and looking for updates to resolve the issue (there were none). I've used this program before with no issues, so this problem is new. I've also tried opening other files since, they most of those seem to open as well.I've used this program before with no issues, so this problem is new.
Running out of ideas. Please help!

Mike, that worked -- I think! I couldn't change the printer without a document open, but while I was in the File menu, I noticed the "Browse in Bridge" command, and it occurred to me that I hadn't tried opening a file from Bridge. It opened first to the templates, and I realized I had not tried opening a template. So I did, that worked, and I changed the printer from where it was set (Adobe pdf) to my regular printer. Now I can create new files, and all files seem to open without a problem. Thanks!
