Media Encoder hangs on launch

Every time I try to launch Adobe Media Encoder CS5 (Version 5.0.1.0 64-bit), it hangs on the title graphic with the message:
"Loading ImporterQuickTime.bundle"
Left it to do its thing for 30 mins and it's still not responding.
Any idea what might be causing this problem?  I don't know what logs I should be posting.
FYI I'm running it on Mac 10.6.5 on an early 2008 quad Xeon Mac Pro.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you.

Spot-on advice!  I removed the following codecs from the /Library/Quicktime folder:
3ivxVideoCodec
AC3MovieImport.component
AvilImporter.component
DivX Decoder.component
DivX Encoder.component
XviD_Codec
XVIDDelegate
Are any of these required codecs?  I'm no expert on this (I've installed DivX Player and VLC in the past.)
Also, I guess I could test to find out which is the offending codec. Can I just drag one of the removed codecs into the folder and start Media Encoder CS5 to see if it causes the problem, then rinse and repeat? Or do I have to restart the computer each time?
Thanks again for your help.

Media Encode Hangs on launch (extremely slow not normal).  When I drag and drop a file it hangs or using file import it hangs. Encodes that should only take a few minutes are listed as 1 hour.
I use media encoder all the time it does not perform like this!  Anyone else experiencing these problems?

After 3 mins, adobe media encoder hangs, elapsed queue time does not move, elapsed time does not move, estimated remaining does not move.
I only have 2 titles in video, no video transitions, and an mp3 audio file i added in.
    what should i try?

    Jim,
I did a quick small project and it did not hang.
Ever since I overlayed the audio track with my MP3 audio it has been causing issues.
The estimateed remaining time starts at 38:00 then quickly goes down to 13:06 or so, and then it hangs.  In the task manager, the processes are still running and under performance PF Usage is 3.38 GB (probably all of the RAM), and CPU at 0%.
I'm gonna let it run for a few hours to see if it moves at all.  then if that doesn't work remove the audio and see if that works.
    Update:1 hour no movement.

  • Media Encoder Crash on Launch- ?

Media Encoder crashes on launch. It's a brand new install on a MacPro 3.1 with a brand new MacOs10.8
It runs through the list of plugins and resources that it loads with the Logo Screen but halts and crashes on loading CoreAudio...
    Please help?
In desperation I deleted it with the hope to re-install, but can't seem to find an option for the install through Cloud...
    Thanks!

Stumbled across this at around 3am today while still troubleshooting. Sad to see no new replies yet. I'm having the same issues as well FireTrigger. (and, at a new job to boot, my employers are starting to wonder if I'm worth my salary at this point, haha!)
Fresh install of 10.9 with CC - AME crashes on startup with a coreaudio issue on thread 0.
Fresh install of 10.9 with CS6 - same deal
Fresh install of 10.8 with CC - same deal
Fresh install of 10.8 with Cs6 - same deal
Seems like it's a permissions issue, as from the error report, it looks like it's trying to create a folder (or write to one maybe) for coreaudio.
Tried trashing and resetting prefs. No good.
    Tried resetting PRAM. No good.
Log out of CC, log back in - No good.
Unistall, reinstall, retry - No good.
Reboot, check for updates, etc., you name it. - No good.
Repaired permissions with disk utility and Onyx - No good.
There's no plugins, no other software, no installed fonts aside from system standard fonts. This is a completely empty install of OSX with Premiere on top of it.
I've wiped the whole machine out and re-installed on a clean drive about 10x now, no luck, same issues across the board.
The hell of it is that I dont even need AME for my workflow, but because it's obviously broken, I can edit a job inside of PP all day long, but there's no way to export it, premiere crashes
    System specs:
    Mid 2010 MacPro
    12 (2x6 core) Xeon 2.8GHz
    48 gigs crucial ram
    ATI Radeon 5870 1GB
    1TB WD internal (stock)
    3x 3TB seagate7200rpm internals.
My next steps in troubleshooting = going to yank all the internal drives and install a fresh, 3TB bare drive and start over, we'll see what happens.
If no luck, I'll move over to testing on a trial copy of PrP CS6 absent the creative cloud if possible. I'm beginning to wonder if that's the source of it all.
I'll report back, and will edit this post with a URL to pastebin with some error reports. Would add now but had to run into the office for some meetings.
Good luck with this one y'all. Really nasty issue here, never experienced anything like this with adobe's stuff, and I've been a power user since CS2.

  • Media Encoder starts to launch then quits CS4

I am running Windows 7 and Adobe Premier Pro CS4. I have been using for a few months with no problems. One night I exported movie to Media Encoder, no problems and the next morning when I made a change and tried to export again, Media Encoder starts to launch and after about 20 seconds, it gives the message that it stopped working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times including rebooting with no problems and it still is not working. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Maybe do a System Restore?

  • Adobe Media Encoder Crashes when launched

    Hello, friends on the forum!
I am using a PC with a Windows XP (Home Edition) o/s.  It has an Intel Pentium 4 cpu @ 2.80 GHz and 2.5 gb or RAM.  This problem just developed: when I try to export a CS4 project, AME hangs and crashes.  I then get a message saying "Adobe Media Encoder CS4 has encountered a problem and needs to close.....yadda, yadda, yadda!"  It then, by itself, tries to launch again with the same dismal result.  Any suggestions as to how I might fix this?  Many thanks in advance!

  • Media Encoder Will Not Launch - MSVCR110.dll

Since I'm not getting any help in the Premiere Forum, I'm re-posting this here....
After installing updates to both MS and Adobe CC this morning, I cannot get the Media encoder to launch. However After Effects launches just fine. Premiere crashes during the splash screen but the error is different.
Media encoder doesn't even make it to the splash screen.

Nevermind, I got it working last night by uninstalling the programs that Patch Tuesday broke. Premiere, Media Encoder, and I found out that Prelude wasn't working either.
All working now after an uninstall, reboot, and reinstall. The patches also reset my creative cloud folder from it's custom location to default.location, and I have to move it back to the other location. My SSD is smallish and I didn't want the data files there, just the OS and the program files.

  • Adobe media encoder hangs using macbook pro yosemitie & CS6

i cannot crunch a premiere pro project using adobe media encoder....the media encoder starts crunching normally but hangs at random ....

I know OSX 10.9 Mavericks introduced a power saving feature called App Nap which is meant to slow down applications that it determins are inactive (could also happen with minimized applications). This would mostly likely be the problem if your issue only happens in OSX 10.9... but if it happens in OSX 10.8 then it I'm puzzled.
Did you check the Console for any error messages?
Anyways, try disabling App Nap for AME first...
    Go to your Applications folder
Expand the Adobe Media Encoder CC folder
Right-click on "Adobe Media Encoder CC.app" and select Get Info
Add a checkmark beside "Prevent App Nap"
    Restart the application
You could also do the same for other Adobe applications.

  • Premire Pro CC 2014 and Media Encoder Crash During Launch

Premire Pro and Media Encoder crash during startup and are unusable. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate and already tried reinstalling Adobe Creative Cloud from scratch and it's still happening. I also tried following Adobes KB articles directions to rename the Adobe folder in my documents and appdata to no avail. I am having a similar problem.
Premiere Pro CC 2014 suddenly decided to crash every time I export to either Adobe Media Encoder or within Premiere itself.
The encode will usually go for 5-10 minutes before the programs either spits out a "serious error has occurred" window, or it just sits there frozen until I force quit.
I did find a work-around for the moment. If I open AME and FILE > OPEN, select my project and then the sequence I want, AND put it in Software render mode, it will work.
My timeline is 2K, 58 minutes in 23.976
Only effects applied are Lumetri LUTs - no third party.
I've exported as recently as a week ago without issue.
Running OSX 9.5 on an X99 board
    3.75 GHz 8-core
    64GB 2400 MHz RAM
    EVGA Titan Black 6GB
Because I can get my renders out, I am not too concerned. Either there is something wonky with my timeline that screws with any graphics enabled rendering, or there is a bug that is have the same effect. I will try rendering on another of my edit bays that utilizes a GTX 580 that I KNOW works. The Titan is pretty new to my workflow.
Thanks Adobe, for checking this out.

  • Adobe Media Encoder fails on launch

Every time I go to render media, when Adobe Media Encoder launches, the file fails. I get a non-descript dialog that says "Installation error: Please ensure this product has been installed properly." This happens immediately after I start the AME queue and it begins to load the .prproj file (which is already open in Premiere Pro, since that's where I exported from in the first place).
I ran Adobe Updater and got the newest version of everything, except for the latest CS4 "Services Update" which fails to install properly. I've tried that update numerous times (after restart, after repairing permissions) and it seems to fail every time. I didn't think this was relevant but thought I'd mention it anyway.
I'm on a Quad-Core Xenon Intel 2x2.5 Ghz tower, with 12GB RAM and 78+ GB free disk space. I'm trying to render a portion of a project, this segment is about a min and a half long. I'm on Mac OS 10.6.7 (latest update), using Premiere Pro CS4.2.1 (003 MC: 166418) and Adobe Media Encoder 4.2.0.006.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you have done a complete reinstall, and ran the Adobe CleanScript CS5 (that is the latest), then a Repair Install should not be needed - it would do nothing.
For info, to do a Repair Install, one would insert the installation disc. When the installer module has loaded, it will survey one's system. If it finds the Adobe program(s), it will ask if you wish to Uninstall, or Repair Install. When one chooses Repair Install, it surveys the system again, for that program, and will replace, or correct any issues. This is usually MUCH faster, than doing an uninstall/reinstall.
Good luck, and not sure what else could be the cause.

  • CS4 Media Encoder doesn't launch

Have been exporting and rendering files in CS4 for years and for some reason, yesterday, ADOBE Media Encoder stopped launching from the export window of PPRO?  I still get the setting box, save box, but when I click okay, nothing happens; ME does not automatically launch.  ME is still there, I can bring it up manually, but it doesn't have the export file in it.
Anyone know why this would drop out suddenly?  No updates/reinstalls, or weirdness from the day it worked to the day it didn't?
Plus, anyone know of a way of getting a PPROJ into ME without going from PPRO?  A short cut, if you will, of dropping a project into an already open ME?
I have searched around for answers to this but have not found a similar issue (I did not have CS3 before, so that whole thread doesn't seem to help me)
    thanks everyone,
    Planetarium Guy

I am afraid I never did get any answers.  I uninstalled everything (I have the whole suite) and reinstalled it.
Then, when I wanted to export from PPRO, AME did launch but didn't have the sequence auto loaded in (as it used to); it just came up and I still had to manually load in the sequence.  After I did all the updates on the reinstall, even that stopped happening; AME stopped launching automatically.
So I have been manually bringing up AME and manually loading in the sequences and then opening the settings from AME to configure the export settings I want (as it doesn't remember what you had saved in the export window of PPRO).
I wish I had an answer for you, but it looks like this work-a-round is what I will using for the near future,

  • Updated to PrPro CS4 4.1.0 but now Media Encoder crashes upon launch

I also downloaded and installed the Media Encoder updater from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=4492&fileID=4176 , but when I checked my ME app file, get info shows it's still v4.0.0. Splash screen displays v4.0.0.374
ME crashes immediately on launch every time.

Thanks, pal.   That worked for me. I'm really grateful!

  • Media Encoder Fails to Launch (Mac)

I sent three sequences to media encoder (5.5) from Premiere then looked for the Media Encoder window to start the batch (as usual) and it failed to come up.    I quit Premiere Pro, still no Media Encoder Window.
Rebooted the Mac and tried to launch Media Encoder from the Dock.   It loads the flash screen, tells me about loading the filters then appears to access something in the project folder (the path is too long for me to see what), hides the flash screen and ..... nothing.   Media Encoder is not responding.
I've tried reboot / restart several times and can't get past this.
How can I delete what ever job is keeping it from starting up?

Fixed it.  For those searching in the future, hold down CMD+ALT_Shift while clicking on Media Encoder and it will delete preferences and allow Media Encoder to start up.   Phew!

  • Adobe Media Encoder hangs

I am doing dance recitals and exporting each recital (2-3) minutes each.  Adobe Media Encoder encodes the first one then hangs on the second.  I shut it down and restarted the computer, exported the footage and again it did the same thing.  Any ideas on why this is happening?  I really need to do them individually.
    thanks

    2. You are using AME on your iPhone.
    3. Your are trying to edit 8 mm celluloid.
    4. You pulled the plug from the wall outlet during the second recital.

  • CS4 Media Encoder hangs while encoding

I've seen a number of other users post a similar problem to this forum. I'm wanted to open a new post to explain my problem so that I can post a link here into everyone else's post.
I'm running Premiere Pro CS4 on Windows XP, with a 3GHz single-core CPU, and 4GB or RAM.
For some projects, AME hangs about half way through the encoding and completely locks up my computer. The problem only happens on one particular set of input files (which are H.264 720p 24fps .mov files), and it is 100% reproducible. I've tried all of the ad-hoc workarounds that I've seen posted here (cleaning out the cache directory, moving the .MOV files to a different location, deleting the .proj and starting over). Nothing helps.
I suspect the following will work:
         1. Use AME to convert the .MOV input files into a different format (.AVI?) with the same resolution and frame rate.
         2. Create a new project, import the AME-converted input files
         3. Re-export
It's annoying that AME crashes so easily (I've only been using PPro CS4 for one month, and only for five projects of less than ten minutes run-time each). I'm surprised I ran into this crash so quickly (maybe it's because a full-time software QA engineer.... but I hope not).
I'll update this post when I confirm my workaround.

As I mentioned in my original posting, I'm running Premiere Pro CS4 on Windows XP, with a 3GHz single-core CPU,  and 4GB or RAM.
I'm not sure what other specs I can provide?
The video is on a rather small 400GB hard drive with 80GB free, right now.  Is there anything else I can provide?
But I'm not sure why you think this problem is related to specs.  As I mentioned, it only happens on one particular set of video files. I didn't mention that that particular set of video (720p) is actually smaller than my other projects (1080) which do not have this problem.
Also, I've been able to lock up the system once by dragging these same imported files into the timeline, and one while trying to save this project. Again, this only happens with one particular set of small input files. It's three H.264 720p files each approximately two minutes long. I've been able to do the same encoding on H.264 1080 files that are 30 minutes long with no problems.
    Thanks
    Andy
