Will the CS4 version of media encoder distribute processes across processors and multi cores?

Flash Media Live Encoder Multi CPU Aware?
Hi all,
Is anyone able to provide a difinitve answer as to whether FMLE supports multiple threads and CPU/Cores for encoding of multiple H.264 streams on Windows or Mac?

webservice or communicating with a browser. You can create an FME
profile xml document and distribute that (sort of like Justin.tv
does), but your users will need to apply that profile

I'm using Aperture 3 and CS5 on my 2GHz aluminum MacBook (4G RAM) and especially A3 seems to get bogged down at times. I'm considering a new 27" iMac. The question is does quad core or hyperthreading make a difference with A3 or CS5? I don't do video or gaming, so these are my two most resource using programs. I'd like good performance, but I don't want to spend extra money on power I don't need.
So-i3 or i5 or i7? (Or extra RAM or better GPU?)If Aperture is multicore aware I would sure love to see the data. I have a Mac Pro 2.26 Nehalem, 16GB of RAM, 4870 video card, 3 TB RAID 0, SSD boot drive.....and it performs virtually identically to my 15" i7 Macbook Pro with 8GB of ram and a 500GB 7200 drive. 10.6.4 and 3.0.3 on both. Still get just as many spinning beach balls, and actually get fewer on the MBP. I did clean installs on both machines a couple weeks ago and they essentially have the same exact 3rd party software. Faces and previews are off.
Certain apps like compressor can use those cores, not much else seems to ever make a difference. I would love to be totally and absolutely wrong though. I really wish there were a compressor equivalent for Aperture where you could send a batch to it and let it export using all available power.
I am looking to sell the Mac Pro for a new iMac until Aperture can use all that power. -
Media Encoder CS4 poor CPU use
A friend of mine made a 3 min video in Premiere CS4 and added some color corrections using Magic Bullet Looks, and when she try to export MPEG-2 with Media Encoder, the processor use in task manager is about 15 %, and RAM about 2 GB, after some time it goes to 50 % but soon drop to 1-2%
The rendering time for 3 min video is about 2:30 hrs, and it even fails sometimes.
Why is it using CPU only 15% ?
The CPU is i7 920 @ 2.66 (NO overclocking), 6GB RAM, and WinXP 32-bitImporterQT.bundle may be missing or corrupt
uninstall Media Encoder using the package in \Applications\Utilities\Adobe Installers
then reinstall. -
Media Encoder not multi-processor capable?
I checked the preferences. Don't see any options to enable
multi-processors. Jobs take forever but they could be going a lot
quicker if they used the full potential of the hardware.

Please help anyone who can.
Firstly I know I have very little RAM on my system, only 4GB but I've been rendering the same kinds of files for weeks with no problems until the last few days.
They biggest issues is as follows:
My timeline in Premiere Pro CC 2014 has 1080p 50mbps MXF footage from a Sony PMW 200 and some similar footage replaced with an After Effects comp for green screen keying.
The clip, approx 2min, starts with a linked comp from after effects, then cuts to the mxf footage and back to a linked comp at the end.
I am exporting via media encoder to h264 1080p. The file rendered fine for about 40min with the processor at 50% approx. The processor then shot up to 99% for 10 mins and the render progress bar
went up to almost 90% complete.
Then the progress bar stopped, the processor dropped to 0%, time remaining is steadily climbing and so is time elapsed. I've tried pausing and un pausing the render que and nothing else is running in background.
I need these files rendered tonight!! I've tried this a few times and this problem keeps occurring sometimes with the remaining time shooting up to 74 hours!!
Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong?!

4 GB RAMSounds exactly like what is happening to me. This is frustrating because it was a 30 hour encoding process and the place where it is stuck is right at the very end of the sequence on the 2nd pass, although there is still about 12% of the progress bar remaining. I guess that this is where it takes all its work and puts the separate files into the single video file. I really don't want to go through this again. The final video file is showing up though and is shown having the size that I am expecting it to be.
Any workarounds to somehow get this unstuck? I am hesitant to just try and open the file. I am going to try a couple of things and if I am successful at getting this to finish without restarting then I will be sure to post it here.
Also, I don't know if this has anything to do with this problem, but I looked at my system Activity Monitor, and there is a CPU process highlighted in red, it states:
Adobe QT32 Server (not responding)
Thirty minutes later...
I was incorrect above as to the actual problem. I paused the queue encoding that was stuck, then opened up the project again in Premiere Pro only to discover that there was an offline still image which I stupidly had renamed during the day. So I renamed the file back to its original name, reconnected the picture, saved the PP project. Then I started the encoding back up and still no luck.
So I paused the encoding again, went back into the PP project and rendered just the area under question, saved it, and exported it into the queue. Then just to be safe I went to the paused item in AME, and duplicated it adding another version into the queue.
Then I unpaused the encoding and ... SUCCESS!! Not sure which of the final steps did the trick, but I am guessing that it was the rendering of the part of the sequence that it was stuck on. Hope this helps someone. -
Dropped frames while using multi bit rates in Flash Media Encoder 3
I’m using the Adobe Flash Media Encoder 3 to stream live video to a host computer at 200 Kbps. At the same time, I’m saving a copy to my hard drive at 350 Kbps. The live stream signal seems to be ok. The saved stream has dropped frames. Total bandwidth is about 615 Kbps. I’ve looked at performance marking software to see if my hard drive is slow and to check my CPU speed. I can’t see what I need to save a better copy and still keep the live stream.
Is this just a need for more CPU speed?
The encoder is on a Dell Optiplex 360 Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 @2.53GHz with 3GB RAM. The hard drive is a 152GB IDE ST3160815AS. It has write caching enabled on the disk.I saw your request for the log file in a different post. This is one of them that was made from my encoding. I don't see any answers in it.

Premiere & Media Encoder only using all cores of only 1 CPU
After following the recommendation of the Adobe White Paper on Premiere and Media Encoder I purchased a dual Xeon machine. It has dual 2699 v3 processors each with 18 physical cores. Both Premiere and Media encoder will max out 36 cores (18 physical and 18 Virtual) but only on one CPU, the other CPU sits idle. Everything I read is that Premiere and Media Encoder are multi-processor not just multi-core aware. When I run Cinebench I get 100% across both processors (72 cores maxed out). I do a ton of 6K Red work and I bought this machine to speed up my rendering times but so far I would have been better off with a single CPU machine as Premiere and Media Encoder seem to only run on CPU at a time. Please HELP!!!!
MichaelThis has been driving me CRAZY... so going over the message boards from 2 to 5 am this morning I found the best explanation I have seen. The problem is that Adobe Creative Cloud is NOT "Processor Group Aware". Windows parses any more than 36 cores into "Processor Groups" and while the Pro version of Windows 7 & 8 can handle 256 threads they have to spread them across multiple processor groups.

Clearly, this is an Adobe Problem... If any engineers are reading this PLEASE review the below and incorporate it into your next build of Creative Cloud!!!

Is mp3 support going ot be added to Flash Media Encoder?

I work at CNET in the Entertainment division and we recently
launched a full on Flash video player

On the side for the past few months we have been testing
On2's Live Flash encoder and Adobe's Flash Media Encoder with
Akamai. Because of features lacking (like de-interlace) in On2's
encode, we have no choice but to use Adobe's encoder.
While there are something I wish would be added like full on
multi-thread support (considering On2VP6 is so CPU intensive),
though that's more of an On2 thing (maybe Adobe can pressure them
since Dual-Core/Quad-Core systems are the norm these days and the
On2VP6 does little to utilize it), one thing that has really urked
us is the choice for the Nellymoser codec to be the only option for
audio in the Flash Media Encoder (and On 2's).
We want to migrate from webcasting in Windows Media to Flash,
but our audience feedback has been horrible with the Flash live
streaming because of the terrible audio codec we are forced to use.
Which leads me to my question --- is there going to be any
updates in the near future to allow us to use mp3 as the audio
codec? We have several machines on order just to handle Flash Live
streaming using Adobe's software and going by user feedback, we
simply cannot do it...so we are gonna have to be forced to have
Windows Media player within our Flash which is going to kill the
user experience.
Anyhow, just hoping to hear a good answer. Have the same
question into On2's support....
DaveI recently read on one of the listservs (not sure which one
it was... maybe the flashcomguru.com list?) that the next version
of FME will use hardware acceleration, so that should alleviate
some of the processor load. Of course, this is third party info I'm
passing along, so take it with a grain of salt.
About MP3, I'm not so sure I'd hold my breath on that one.
Problem is, FME is a free product, so I don't know if Adobe will
see value in shelling out the cash for the licensing required to
support mp3 encoding (money that will never be directly recovered).
They already have the licensing for ASAO, and as I understand
things, that ASAO license is the reason you can only use FME if you
own FMS or have an active account with one of their partner CDN's
Incidentally, this is a user-end forum, and I don't see a
strong presence from the Adobe employees around here (some, but not
a whole lot). If you were using FMS (rather than a CDN) I'd suggest
contacting Adobe support directly, but I've heard that support
requests from non-purchasers tend to fall to the bottom of the pile
indefinitely. -

Media Encoder CC was working fine when I bought it two weeks ago, but now it quits unexpectedly upon launch. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this problem? Does the fact that my Creative Cloud Installer "is no longer functioning" have anything to do with it? I have uninstalled it (CC Installer) numerous times and reinstalled to no avail. I should note that the CC installer did not install all of the CC applications it was supposed to.
Steps I have already tried:
• Holding down the Shift key on launch
• Making sure Sharing & Permissions for myself are set to Read/Write
• Updating software
• Trashing Permissions
Thank YouThis thread suggests (for Windows 8 and I assume the same issue for Windows 7) holding the SHIFT key while executing AME. This resets the preferences, and worked for me when I had this issue.

I just bought and installed the lasted version of the CS suite through the cloud. Everything else seems to be working so far, except Media Encoder CC. When I downloaded all of the software, it came with both Media Encoder CC and CS6. CS6 works just fine. CC keeps crashing on start up.

17" Macbook Pro
version 10.6.8 - with the lastest security updates and patches
3.06 GHZ intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1067 MHZ DDR3 - I am working on getting an upgrade to 8GB. Waiting on the RAM

Other than the spect on my machine, I have no idea what that means. I looked at the reason in the middle of all that, but it doesn't make sense. Why would it be looking for older versions of the libraries if it's a new version of the software? Also, the interesting thing to note is that in the chart it reports 7 crashes. That corresponds with the number of times I've tried to open the app. Please help!!

Installer would normally stop or at least give you warning when installing on 10.6 OS.
AME CS6 does work on 10.6, so I recommend you use CS6 until you update to 10.7 or later. -
Media Encoder CC doesn't close on Mac
This doesn't always happen, but it's frequent enough to be a problem. When I close Media Encoder CC, the window closes, but the process is still open when I Cmd+Tab through processes, and the icon on the dock still has the dot below it, that indicates that the program is open. Force Quit doesn't work. I have to restart the computer to fix it. If I try to shut down the computer, it says that it cannot shut down because the application is still running. I have to do a hard shutdown in order to turn it off in that case, or restart first and then shut down.
Anyone else aware of this issue, or know how to to fix it?Please try the followings to see if any of them helps.
- Make sure you have the latest graphics card driver installed.
- If you are on Mac and have a CUDA graphic card, please make sure you have the latest CUDA driver. Here is the link where you can download it: CUDA Drivers for MAC Archive | NVIDIA
- If CUDA or OpenCL acceleration is enabled in AME, please try Software rendering mode to see if this helps.
- Please look under a user Document folder > Adobe > Adobe Media Encoder > 8.0. If you see "Presets" there is not a folder, but a strange shortcut file, please delete this and re-launch AME.
- Hold Shift key when you are launching AME to reset the preferences of the app. -
Adobe Media Encoder CS4 Encoding Error
I got an error when Adobe Media Encoder CS4 encoding which is the crash of ImporterProcessServer. It crashes the halfway of the encoding process. I restarted my comp and tried several times before but the results still the same. Sometimes ImporterProcessServer did not crash but the encoder failed compiling without any error.
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 2.4GHZ
RAM: 2GB
OS: Win7 32bit
Graphic: Nvidia 8600 GeForce 512 mbFirst thing to check is what is on the Timeline at about the 50% point. Do you have an odd Asset there?
Do you have a gap in the Video at about that point?
Then, do you have adequate defragmented free space on the destination HDD?

Adobe Media Encoder cs6 error 0xc000007b
Recently i installed Adobe Media Encoder CS6 , on start it showing application unable to start due this error 0xc000007b, please resolve ASAP, if anybody knows.
I just want to make sure anyone with the same problem who comes across this thread is made aware of some things to try and at least one solution that has worked for multiple people...
As the Adobe Staff member here mentioned, the 0xc000007b error usually has to do with a 32-bit/64-bit confusion on the machine. More specifically, as someone stated in a Windows forum: "this error is most likely a result of a 32-bit (x86) executable trying to load a 64-bit (x64) DLL."

What has worked for others is copy & pasting the msvcr100.dll & msvcr80.dll files from the After Effects Support Files folder to the folder of the app that is giving this error (usually Media Encoder or Premiere Pro or Lightroom). It was mentioned several times in the threads below, and worked for me as well...

I've just purchased Flash CS4 and tried the "Adobe Media Encoder CS4" that comes with it.
When attempting to launch it, I get this (see attachement) error and the program doesn't launch.
