Media Encoder Orange screen when encoding mts files

I'm trying to convert 1080p files from my Canon Vixia HFM41 to Youtube 720p using the Media encoder, and it typically works for about 20 seconds and then hangs up and I get an orange screen. At that time I can see it dumping RAM and the CPU usage goes down to zero. If I let it continue, sometimes it'll finish, but the video has long sections of orange screen.
I'm using latest versions of Premiere and ME with a Windows 7 machine. i7 2.2 ghz core, 8gigs of RAM, Nvidia cuda core GPU, SSD. Basically, the machine shouldn't be the problem.
BTW, I encode GoPro vids all the time with no issues. It's only these .mts files that are causing this.
Please help.

It does NOT play back in Premiere in its native format, which is why I started looking into converting it in ME prior to editing in Premiere. It drops frames even on 1/2 resolution in the preview window. I tried to force a timeline render and it hung up and gave me orange frames....even though the yellow line indicated it didn't need to render to play back ok.
I'm sure it's not hardware related, because when I had Premiere 5.5 on a significantly slower computer I routinely edited the same footage without converting.
I suppose I should start a new thread in the Premiere section to figure that out as well, but it still annoys me that ME isn't converting properly.
Any ideas?

  • FAQ: How do I troubleshoot audio issues when importing .MTS files?

Hello.   The link FAQ: How do I troubleshoot audio issues when importing .MTS files?
does not work, and i need the answer please. My imported MTS clips are not playing back audio because it seems that no audio imported with the video.   Thanks, Don.

    Hi there
Audio plays when the object with the audio assigned appears. This is why you hear it when the Button appears.
Try assigning the audio instead to the object that appears when you click the button. Perhaps the caption.

  • Preview Screen when Opening a File

I recently had to reinstall Pro V9.  Now I no longer get the preview screen when I select File, Open.  I liked this feature since I could see the first page of each document and know which file contained what information. Does anyone know how to reset this function?  Thanks.

  • Encoder keeps crashing with camera MTS files during batch operation

I am trying to convert MTS files to WMV and I am constantly getting crashes.
"Microsoft WIndows: Close programs to prevent information loss... Your computer is low on memory...Adobe Media Encoder.exe"
    and
"Adobe Media Encoder Debug Event: Adobe Media Encoder has encountered an error. [..\..\Src\Win\WinFile.cpp-785]"
I do have 8gb of memory with no other programs running and this is 1080/60 converted to 720/30 video and TaskManager shows I have memory to spare.
I have a lot of these and it's neccessary that I do a batch encode. The thing is that I can usualy encode the first item in the list but as the second one begins it crashes.
So it is possible for these files to be encoded successfully (the file plays fine) but the batch process is failing. It is not dependant on the specific file but just any file that isn't the first one in the list it seems.

    Physical Memory (MB)
    Total: 8173
    Cached: 3601
    Available: 3693
    Free: 1708
Kernel Memory: 297 paged 84 nonpaged
    Commit (MB) 6865/9195
(these values fluctuate as i was recording them so they are off a little bit in relation to each other)
I have also set my page file to go from 256mb MIN to 1024mb MAX because I have a SSD for Windows and i wanted to save space. I heard it was not neccessary if you have a lot of ram... I will have 16gb of ram again soon (as i just sent the other 8gb in for replacement). So maybe this could be an issue..?

  • What is the best format to choose when converting mts files to fit well with iMovie? I am using iCoolsoft for conversions and can pick from almost any kind of formats to convert to. I don't want to get the black frames... what do you advice me to pick?

I have lots of MTS files stored on an external hard drive that I want to use in my iMovie films. Now, as you know, iMovie doesn't like them. I have bought iCoolsoft for converting my video files into any format I want but now I've got another problem: what format is the best for iMove? Some of the formats I've tried are giving me a black frame around the video clips and some are bigger and other smaller but anyway I don't want them at all! Can anyone recommend what format to convert to to keep the original clip's size and no frames and still be liked by iMovie to be able to import them?
Much thankful for any kind of support and reply on this one.
    Eva

The format iMovie uses when you edit video after it's imported is Apple Intermediate Codec, it will have the file ending .mov but internally it's set so the Mac can edit individual frames easier and play them back easier at full speed. If you have the option of saving to QuickTime .mov see if there is a pulldown list of all the different "codecs", that's the style or flavor of compression applied to the video frames. If Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) appears on that pull-down list choose that as your codec when you save to .mov.

  • Orange Screen when switching

Hello, I recently bought a 15" mac book pro and partitioned the hard drive and installed 64 bit windows 7 on it, recently when switching from OSX to windows 7 using boot camp a orange screen with a white line will display and the computer is locked up. When turned off and turned back on windows 7 usually starts normally. I hadn't seen a similar topic on a similar problem and was wondering if I should be concerned.

I know exactly what you mean regarding Orange, ever since they were taken over by France Telecom they have been going downhill.
I ported away all of my Orange contract and PAYG numbers a few months back to o2 and Tesco myself.
I find the Orange branding on my old unlocked 6230 that I gave my mother serves as a reminder that they will never get a penny from me again. The branding does not affect any functionality as far as I can tell on Tesco.
I did have bluetooth issues with mine, so I had it updated at a Nokia service centre to 5.50 which cured most of the problems. If your handset is out of warranty they can charge anything up to around £20 for the firmware to be updated and depending on how you had it unlocked it could come back relocked to Orange, you could also have a word to see if anything can be done about the Orange branding if it still irritates you while you are there.

My information is always changing, what I post at the time is usually true.

  • No Sound when importing mts-files

    Hi there!
I am strongly using Adobe Premiere Pro for years now, and since I work with the AVCHD Codec I got this problem:
Every time I import a mts file into premiere pro, it got no sound with it. I first tried this with premiere pro cs4 (last update). There it worked properly. Then I upgraded to cs5, and suddenly the problem was there. I reinstalled the application, I installed all sorts of codecs, etc etc... nothing worked. Then I upgraded to premiere pro cs5.5, and the sound was back. Just as normal as it should be! And now, that I have premiere pro cs6, the sound is gone again...
It's just really annoying and sometimes even preventing me from doing my work! Because when I have really really much footage to import, I have to convert it to mp4 first!
Please, I don't know what to do any more, this is driving me crazy!

  • Media Encoder scrambles colors when encoding a warp stablilized clip

Hi. Anyone have this issue? Queing any clips into media enoder with warp stabilization applied result in and encoded clip with colors jumping all over the place within the said clip. Very strange, I tried to uninstall and re-install media encoder and did not solve the problem. Anyone have the expertise to help with this issue?

I've been trying everything now. With and without the Cuda Acceleration and both behave exactly the same, funny colors and jumbled video in the render.
Perhaps someone with skills in the Codec world can help? I wouldn't know where to start looking, and I don't wanna mess around with codecs without proper advise.
If someone knows if it may be a codec on my machine creating this problem?
I shoot in AVCHD, I get m2ts files from both my cameras (Sony). Could this problem be related only to this format when exporting with Warp Stabilizer? This problem only started after an update from Adobe for CC 2014 products.

  • Why is Adobe Media Encoder so slow when encoding videos?

I had this movie on my computer but audio was out of sync. So i threw into Adobe Premiere Pro, synced the audio, saved it. But when i opened the media encoder it said my estimated time remaining was 48 hours? Is it supposed to be this slow?
I have CS5 for both of them

    And the computer specs?

  • How do I fill the screen when encoding?

I have been encoding a short video segment using H.264 and trying to output to a custom 566x424 size.  Every time I encode the sequence at this size I get black bars at the top and bottom of the frame and yet when I encode to any other 3x4 ratio size, I don't.  Is there a "fill screen" setting in the encoder in Premiere Pro that I can use?  Why would I not get bars at the top and bottom on other 3x4 ratio settings and yet I do on this custom size?
You can see the example of the output here:  http://www.southridge.bc.ca/index.aspx

Hey Colin, this is the perfect solution.  I only had to slice 7 pixels off of each side to make it fit.  I've worked with PP for four years and I can't believe how little I know about these types of solutions.  I do a lot of video editing, but it is fairly formulaic and I don't have much time to experiment as I manage a school web site, do all the photography and video and manage the AV services.  I really appreciate you taking the time to provide me with just the right solution and therefore adding to my knowledge base and skills.  I'll be sure to pass the favour along.

  • That annoying orange screen when I close a file

Is there a way to get rid of that screen that pops up every time I close an Illustrator document? For heavens sake, if I wanted to do something else in Illustrator I know how to navigate to it without that annoying screen prompting me. It's really just in the way. Surely there's a preference to turn that thing off somewhere?

Figures. I was looking through preferences but never even saw that little button in the left corner. I've just been clicking away from it in frustration all this time without even looking it over in depth. Thanks.

  • White screen when playing .avi file

I recently upgraded to Quicktime Pro, and when I try to play a video that I downloaded, all I get is a white screen. The time counts up perfectly, but there is no picture. The same thing happened when I had just the basic quicktime.
I'm not sure if it's an issue with the quicktime, or if I need to get a new component?
If anyone could help me out with this, it would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Jord

The Xvid package should come with a read me that tells you where the files need to go. Also, does the movie you're trying to watch use Xvid? Get Info when you're in QuickTime Player, what codecs does it say are used by the movie?

  • Get wierd screen when opening PDF file in Acrobat/Reader 9.5.2

Here's the screen I now get when trying to open a Captivate-generated PDF in either Acrobat or Reader 9.5.2. Any thoughts?

    Hi Ronpref,
I created a Captivated PDF file of size ~15 MB (created with Adobe Captivate 5.5) and opened it with Acrobat 9.5.2. I did not see any issue opening this file, all the contents were seen properly. As soon as I launched this PDF, it asked me to install Adobe Flash. Once installed, this PDF file was opened successfully and I could move forward/back within that captivate movie.
You can check if this same issue is present on other machine with Acrobat 9.5.2. If not, then there are chances that this issue is specific to your machine.
Alternatively, as I suggested earlier, try using Reader XI.
    Thanks.

  • White screen when viewing .mov files in FCE/Quicktime

So I did a shoot a couple weeks ago with two cameras and now I am trying to get the files off of the other camera, which is not mine.  I have tried multiple times and each time I get a blank screen (no video, but there is audio) in both FCE (what I'm using) and Quicktime (and iTunes for that mattter). I have seen that the files work (as I have watched them on the other person's computer), but on this editing computer and my personal computer the files do not work. The other videographer recorded straight onto mini SD card (did not capture in FCE or FCP) and transferred those files onto a external HD which she gave to me, so there is no compatability issues going from FCP to FCE (which I have read about). Quicktime is up to date, I have installed Perian & Flip4Mac. Not sure what else to do....I have looked through many forums and basically lost at this point. Thanks for the help and insight.
    -Alex

the other camera was a CCD something
Virtually ALL camcorders have CCDs.  A CCD is the component that the lens focuses the image on.  It has nothing to do with the way the video was recorded.  We need either the specific model number or the exact video file format & codec that was recorded (we can tell that from the camcorder model #).
my friend said the files are not compressed at all.
Hard to believe & unlikely to be a correct statement.  The camera make/model will reveal how it records the video.
    I filmed in on a Canon xha1s
Easy set up: HDV Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60
The XHA1S is an HDV camcorder, so the easy setup is correct ... for the video from the XHA1S.  Until we know what your friend's camcorder was we can't tell if it's HDV or not.
