Media Encoder turns audio into white noise!

I'm running CS5.5 on an intel Mac 10.6.5, and i have been having problems encoding to flv.
All my videos are edited the same way, and using the same formats etc,   yet recently I have found that when converting to .flv, some will work fine, and others will have the audio replaced by white noise.
I cannot figure out what the problem could be. I have also tried using the CS5 version and that is having the same issues.
Checking through the video specs, it appears that the one difference is that the ones which worked fine are all Apple ProRes 422 HQ files, and the ones which failed are Apple 10bit Uncompressed.  The strange thing is the audio is the same for both.  Yet when the encode problem happens, the video for both is fine, its just the audio where the problem appears.
Anyone else seen this problem?  or better still have a solution?
adam

I've answered it myself.
The problem relates to using Uncompressed 10bit movie files...seems the CS5 versions have a problem handling the audio on these. The solution for me was to run the files through Compressor first and change them to Apple ProRes422, before running them through AME.
works every time now!
now if only i could find the bug report form....

  • Audio files turned into white noise

I just opened a couple of session I kept on my firewire audio drive and for some reason some of the audio files have been turned into white noise and obviously rendered unusable. Has this ever happened to anyone? If so can you do anything to sort it out?
Some of those where really important so I would really appreciate if someone had a solution.
    Thanks

  • Media Encoder CS5.5  Audio being converted into white noise

I have recently started getting an intermittent problem where some video files are being encoded to FLV with the picture looking fine, but the sound coming out as white noise.
The file used for the encoding looks and sound fine in every other app i have. I have been using the same preset within ME to create all the files for our website, for years!.It should be stereo 96kbps MPEG 3  but all i get is static.
The source videos are all edited , mixed and output the same way too.
The files being sent to Encoder are on Mac 10.6.5, and were created in Final Cut Pro using the Prores422 codec, with audio as Linear PCM 16bit/48khz
I have just rebooted the mac, installed the latest CS5.5 upgrades, repaired permissions, but still the problem persists.
    Can anyone suggest a solution?

seems i did answer this myself last year!
i need to re-ecode the source material in a format other than 10bit uncompressed for Encoder to be happy with it. I thought the file was already Prores - must be an older file thats causing the trouble.

  • Logic 9 busting into white noise while recording!!

Well the title says almost all of it! I've been using Logic 8 happily for ...since it came out.....and I used Logic 9 successfully yesterday when just doing vocals over a backing track but today I tried my first full band recording in Logic 9 and at random places while in record, the audio just totally turns into deafening white noise! The Hard drive meter is showing massive peaks and logic shows a "too slow" error. The songs has a few virtual amplifiers in it (amplitube) but nothing lethal and I've loaded the exact same song (saved from logic 9) into logic 8 and it's working flawlessly so for now at least I'm reverting to using Logic 8 :-(((
Oh well, I guess Logic 9 will be awesome when it's finished :-)) Any suggestions of things I can try or will this be a 9.01 situation?
    Many Thanks for any help,

    Hi Ya,
    Combo update , yes
    ProKit 5, yes,
    Restart, yes,
    Repair permissions, I'll try that
and as for using it professionally...that's the only way I do use it!!
Someone has to find the bugs for Apple to fix them.
As for contacting our host, not exactly. I've been a happy logic user (and basically still am I should add) since Notator days but now that the tech support phone numbers have been long since discarded (Sound technology in the UK, bless them) I have no idea how to report a bug or a problem to Apple. I can get someone in Ireland to tell me where to take a broken mac back to, but support for pro software, I have no idea who to get hold of.Does anyone here know of a Tech support contact email?

  • Adobe Media Encoder different audio file to video file.

    Hello,
I've been encoding files from several different DVD's and when I play the encoded file the video is correct but the audio is from a completely different file. This is I am assuming is because the file names on the DVD's are the same i.e. VTS_01_1.. etc. When I realised it was doing this I permanently deleted the incorrectly encoded files, sorted all of the correctly encoded files into seperate folders for each DVD. This did not work even though media encoder was creating new file names for each file it encoded. I then re-named all of the correct files and re-named the files that I was about to encode. I have also cleared the media cache database. The files on the DVD's are fine and play as they should with the correct audio. What do I need to do to get the files to encode with the correct audio?!!! Thank you!

Try this - in Project Bin, right-click the clip in question and select "Make Offline". Then right-click again and choose "Link Media" and point it to the correct source file. Could be that the pointers got all confused as like you said, as sources had the same names.
If that fails to resolve the problem - cleaning the Media Cache only works for projects that no longer exist, or are on a drive that is disconnected. Assuming that maybe the Conformed audio that is being used in the background is messed up, try this - close Premiere, then RENAME the project file, for instance add an "x" to beginning of filename. Now open Premiere (new project), then clean the cache again. Since it can't find your project, it should then remove all temp renders from the drive for that project.
Next, rename project to original name and open and it should conform audio again as if just adding media for the first time. Hopefully for correct clips this time, if you have moved media around on drive to eliminate overlap of file names.

  • Audio outputs white noise /static sound

I recently purchased HP Envy 700-327C.
Out of the box, I noticed a constant static / white noise whenever I plug a headphone into the audio out jack from the headphone.  It is the same noise from the front or rear jack.  It is very noticeable when no sound is playing.  I have tried multiple headphones and speakers with the same problem.  When I mute the sound, the noise stops.  If I increase the volume, the noise level doesn't change.  I have disabled the mic and also reinstalled the driver. I even tried to use the generic windows sound driver.  I have an older HP desktop at home before and an HP at work and never had this issue.   Is there anything else I can do?

    Hello hppoweruser2014,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that your desktop is producing a static noise from the headphone jack on your desktop, and I would be happy to assist you! To begin, I will need to ask you a few questions:
What is the Product and Model Number of your desktop computer?
What version of Windows do you have installed on your computer?
Has your computer completed all of its important Windows Updates?
Is there static emitted when there is sound being produced?
Have you updated your HP drivers using the HP Support Assistant?
Does this same issue occur with the audio jack in the back of your desktop (the jack in between the top and bottom)?
If you boot your computer in Safe Mode, is there still a static sound produced in the front of the computer?
In the meantime, I recommend following this document on No Sound from the Speakers or Headphones (Windows 7). This should help correct the static being emitted from the front headphone jack.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!

  • Media Encoder CC audio question

I have a ProRes standard def file (.mov) with 2 stereo pairs of audio.  I am trying to export it to a DVCPROHD Quicktime (.mov) with the same audio configuration.
This seems to be impossible.  My audio export options as a Quicktime file with this codec are 1 mono track, 1 stereo pair or 2 mono channels.  This would result in a downmix, which I do not want.
There is a setting which allows me to have this video codec and the audio configuration I want, but the resulting file will be in a .mxf wrapper, which I cannot use.
Is there really no way to just do audio passthrough in Media Encoder?

I am running version 8.2.0.54 currently.
So... I start Media Encoder, add a file with 1 video track and 8 discrete channels of audio to the queue, select "QuickTime" for my export, select "custom" from the dropdown under "export settings", select the "audio" tab and go to the "basic audio settings" where I can select the number of audio channels I need under the "channels" pull-down menu.
Yes, this seems to work fine!  I wonder why I couldn't get this to work yesterday (or ever, really), despite doing what I thought was exactly that.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Adobe Media Encoder All Video Output 'White'

    Hi all,
I am attempting to use Adobe Media Encoder to  export a QT h264 optimized for upload to facebook from a QT file exported 'Same as Source' from Avid MC 5.0.3, whic would be 1080i60 1920x1080.  The source file playsback correctly in QT player or VLC, but even the output preview screen in AME shows only a white image.
I've also tried converting a completely different QT file created in Premiere Pro, with the same white video output issue.  I've tried opening/closing AME with no luck, but hte last time I used it I didn't have any problems and was able to produce the desired end result.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks for your input,
    Lindsay

    Hi,
Yes you are correct in assuming the two software packages are on different machines. I am using Premire Pro CS5 5.0 and Avid Nitris DX MC 5.0.3 And no, I do not believe I have installed any Avid Codecs.  I just followed your link, will download and do so now.  I'm assuming this will fix the bug, but if not I will let you know.
    Thanks for your help!

  • CS4 Pro Export to Media Encoder has Audio, Titles, w/out Video

My Sequence is complete and looks great in the Program playback. I am exporting through Media Encoder and all goes well. I Media Encoder the Output looks great as well! The encoding takes about three minutes ends successfully. Yet, when I open the movie I have sound, titles all without video (black screen). I have tried many output formats including quitcktime & h.264 and different presets all with the same result. What's up?

Thanks for the assist! My Export Settings for my latest attempt:
Format: Quicktime / Preset: NTSC DV
Video: 720x480, 29.97 (fps), lower, quality
Audio: 48000 Hz, Stereo, 16 biy
    DV/DVCPRO - NTSC
    Anything else?

  • Flash Media Encoder 8 - audio problem

I'm having an audio problem with Flash Media Encoder 8. I am
converting a long Quicktime movie to Flash - about 28 minutes.
After encoding, when I play it back, at about the 20 minute mark
the audio just drops out. I've developed somewhat of a workflow and
have done this with similar Quicktime files many times and have not
had this problem. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be
    happening? Anyone else see this?
    Some specs:
Flash 8, Mac OSX 10.4.10, MacBook Pro C2D

    Five Pi,
It may have something to do with the audio rate in your QT
video. When using encoder, make sure your audio rate of your QT
file is higher than the audio rate of your Encoder settings.
Its just a guess, I have had the same problems, but I set the
audio quality to very high when exporting from Final Cut Pro, and
then set them to medium quality in encoder, and no more audio
    problems.

  • Bluetooth Audio Blasts White Noise

I have a Macbook Pro and when I listen to music via bluetooth (headphones, speakers, etc.) it eventually glitches and then blasts white noise. Anyone know what the problem is?
By the way, I don't experience this problem when using the same bluetooth devices with my iPhone.

the problem is that 10.10.2 is a piece of junk. look through the discussions, and there are already a number of them mentioning this. in all the posts i've read, this started with that update. amazing that apple can cause a problem that can both damage hearing and equipment, and after a month still nothing. i've had it happen about 5 times today. add to that, my bluetooth keyboard has disconnected and reconnected 30 times, often consecutively.
the only fix is disconnect the device, and reconnect. or, if you just mute audio and wait a number of minutes it is usually gone after un-muting. 10.10.2 is a failure. fingers crossed 10.10.3 fixes it. hope my speakers don't blowout in the meantime.

  • SBH50 issue with streaming audio (sec white noise)

After some test, with 2 device, and after having resetted the SBH50 as suggested in another thread related to stutter audio, i realize that the issue comes when "multipoint" in sbh50 is activated.
    i did some exercise:
    - no multipoint activated (only one device: sgs3) music streaming from sgs to sbh works perfectly.
    - multipoint acivated
second device not connected: as soon as multipoint is activated sbh starts being disturbed by "white noise" for 1 second and it happens really often, more times during a single song
second device connected: same situation as point 1
i solved not using multipoint.. that is not the right solution
hope for a solution, i got still 20 days before time limit for give it back with no fee, and i wonder to understand if i should buy a BT clip that cost less considering at this point the added values is the little scrren (nice) and nfc (nice but.. after the first pairing i do not need it anymore)
    thank you for your support

does this silence in suppport means that there is no solution ?

  • Turn audio into mp3?

Im wondering if its possible to take audio from a movie and turn it into an mp3, but just parts of it. I have tried extracting the audio, but then I get a 2 hour mp3. All I need is a 20 second clip from the movie to add to the main menu in iDVD...Any Suggestions???

  • Media Encoder turning 16:9 to 4:3

Everytime I try to output from Premiere a 16:9 file it always create a 4:3 file, I have all the settings correct in Premiere, it previews perfectly. I have tried to output to quicktime, AVI, MP4 etc, the toggles are all set to 16:9 or widescreen PAL presets and yet when I open the output after Media encoder does it's thing the files are 4:3. I am running latest updates to all CS4 products.
    Any ideas?

Why do you persist in pointing out the functional inadequacies of the Player.
It is done in the file not the Player.
Because those players have a hard time with anamorphic footage.  Using a player that handles it properly resovles the issue, no need to reexport.
You are not listening or paying attention Jim and your lack of experience with HD is showing.
There is absolutely NO PROBLEM  exporting an HD Sequence (720p anamorphic PAR) to a wmv and having the player display it correctly.  It is a single step process that AME manages perfectly.  (without "re export").  I show you a frikin example grabbed directly from the WMV player and you are still banging on about the frikin player!
Coming back to using different Players as your work around (for an issue that does not exist if the job is done properly by a professional).  That may work fine in the wediing videography business but it wont work in my world where my edits go thru approval processes that involve many people from designers to CEOs of international corporations.   You think I am going to tell them all to get a different player installed for no reason that I can think of except Jim Simon is macphobic or something.
Basically you are giving crap advice in this instance.

  • Media Encoder CS5 audio export problem

I was trying to convert a .mov to flv/f4v, the video was fine but audio was distorted, pitch wet down, sounding like a battery-low device playing back some crappy stuff. Tried many different settings but no luck. Am I missing any codecs?
Actually I was fine with this kind of conversion before my mac crashed and then reinstalled a week ago. I'm on OS X 10.6.2. Frustrated, appreciate if someone can help.

seems i did answer this myself last year!
i need to re-ecode the source material in a format other than 10bit uncompressed for Encoder to be happy with it. I thought the file was already Prores - must be an older file thats causing the trouble.
