Media Encoder: "Unknown Error" : one solution

Queued encoding out of Premiere CS5.02 into the Adobe-updated Media Encoder 5.0.1 was giving "Unknown Error" messages (not particularly helpful) and failing to encode properly.
I re-installed the 5.0.0.402 version off my install disc (chose Premiere, then unchecked everything except Media Encoder) and that ran the queue again- no changes to compression settings, file settings or anything. Identical files, just earlier version of Media Encoder.
All 6 queued files compressed without error.
Except that now the sound was out of sync. Checked Premiere, and somehow, despite me being absolutely sure I only ticked "Encoder" on the re-install, it had reverted to 5.0 with its AIFF sync bug.
I then ran the DOWNLOADED 5.02 Premiere patch (NOT the Adobe Updater one which causes my Premiere to lose its extra compression settings and be unable to open previously saved CS5 projects- see here for more info).
Things now function fine.
This for me so far is the standout feature of my CS5 upgrade: bugs, flaky updaters, horrendous support, and a need to either revert updates or apply them in particular ways.
I wish you all better times.

Can you clarify what your problem is?
Is it that you need the 5.02 update to fix the AIFF sync issue, but that then breaks Media Encoder?
If so, you'll need to re-install Media Encoder. For me, this was choosing Premiere on my CS5 installer and deselecting everything except Media Encoder, but it seemed still to revert Premiere to v5.0 so I then had to run the *downloaded* Premiere 5.02 update.
Do not allow the Adobe Updater to update Media Encoder or you'll hit the same problem again.
If your issue was actually something else, then let me know!

  • Adobe Media Encoder cs6 error 0xc000007b

Recently i installed Adobe Media Encoder CS6 , on start it showing application unable to start due this error 0xc000007b, please resolve ASAP, if anybody knows.

I just want to make sure anyone with the same problem who comes across this thread is made aware of some things to try and at least one solution that has worked for multiple people...
As the Adobe Staff member here mentioned, the 0xc000007b error usually has to do with a 32-bit/64-bit confusion on the machine.  More specifically, as someone stated in a Windows forum: "this error is most likely a result of a 32-bit (x86) executable trying to load a 64-bit (x64) DLL."
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/error-the-applicati on-was-unable-to-start/05a2b904-3f61-4d08-94d6-e2ff92161111
What has worked for others is copy & pasting the msvcr100.dll & msvcr80.dll files from the After Effects Support Files folder to the folder of the app that is giving this error (usually Media Encoder or Premiere Pro or Lightroom).  It was mentioned several times in the threads below, and worked for me as well...

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 Error: WinFile.cpp-754

When encoding video from one format to another (no matter what is source and what is result file format) I have an error after some time or in the begining of the process. "Adobe Media Encoder has encountered an error ..\..\Src\Win\WinFile.cpp-754"
Version of Encoder is 4.2.0.006 (updated).
I can't encode any files. What is the problem?

    Any update on this?
I get WinFile.cpp-754 on CS4 and WinFile.cpp-785 on CS5 trying to encode the same AVI file.
I'm trying to load a 59.94 fps AVI file into PremierPro CS4 and need to convert it to something else (correct?)

  • MEDIA ENCODER crash error: c:ame820_win\releases\external\adobe\mediacore\mediafoundation\api\  PLEASE HELP

    WORKSTATION HP Z600
    XEON E5645 12GB RAM NVIDIA QUADRO 2000 WIN 8.1 64bit
    BLACKMAGIC DESIGN ULTRASTUDIO SDI
    good morning,
I have some problems with premiere pro cc 2014 release 2
the most important is that Media Encoder crashes and the following error:
    c:ame820_win\releases\external\adobe\mediacore\mediafoundation\api\
The second problem is that when I open the software you group all the windows on one side.
Does anyone know what I need to do to solve these two problems?
    please help
    Andrea

I do have a 64 bit OS - Win 7. The RAM does provide a noticable difference in performance - things are much more "snappy" now, which I'm enjoying, but hasn't eliminated my problem.
The encoder does not stop at the same point, it seems to be quite random. I can view the files that I've exported (up until the point they cut off) and there's nothing going on in the clip that would be any sort of red flag - in other words, it is not stopping the coding at a point where a new color correction or title is being introduced, it had all happened previously. This is my first large project on CS4, and I don't have anything else to export at the moment!
I'm not running premiere in multi-monitor mode: I've got a 24" widescreen monitor that is my sole monitor.
I have COMBED the interwebs trying to find a resolution to this issue, and I am no where... I'm currently installing CS4 on a XP machine that I have that is pretty robust, and am going to try encoding on that, just to see if I get a different result.
Any suggestions at all would be MOST appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • Media encoder status error CS4

I cant get my CS4 projects to encode!
Media encoder gives me a status error. (yellow triangle in the status column) When I open the text file I get:

    Other info:
    -Vista 64bit,
    -Adobe creative Suite CS4. Premiere CS4 4.1.0
-It wont encode anything, I've tried a few projects, the above one was an export of audio timeline.
-The project "denis final CS4.prproj" is actually in my "E:" drive
-A renamed project called "denis final CS4_1.prproj" (created by CS4 I assume) does in fact exist in "C:\Users\Andrew\AppData\Local\Temp\"
-I am unable to deactivate  Premiere CS4 . It allows me to deactivate successfully, but comes up active next time I run.
    Any ideas?
    thanks,
    Andy

Here's what I get after a few minutes of being in the encoder.  Nothing actually starts encoding:

Is there an error code in there?

  • "Error compiling movie.  Unknown error" - my solution

I was trying to encode a project to mpeg-2 DVD yesterday, when I repeatedly received the message "Error compiling movie.  Unknown error."  I had had this happen before and I can't remember what hoops I jumped through to fix it.  But yesterday, I found a simple solution that may work for someone else in the future should they ever search for this problem in our forum.
The problem turned out to be with some .wmv files mixed in with all the other .avi files I was using.  And the solution was to right-click on the .wmv clips in the project bin, choose "modify," then choose "interpret footage.  From there, I changed the frame rate choice from "Use frame rate from file" (which was 30.00) to "Assume this frame rate" and entered a value of 29.97.  Voila!  Everything rendered without a hitch!
    Hope this helps someone.
    J. D.

I agree, Jim, but my train of thought was that a lot of people were changing and replacing and taking out effects and clips from their sequence to see if it was the components in the sequence that was causing the "unknown error." However, I had the same "unknown error" and was able to export in Premiere anyway by just practically "telling" Premiere that it's a new project, when I'm importing an old project to do the same task. Which makes me think that maybe Premiere doesn't have a problem exporting the specific files that most people thought were the problem, maybe it was just a glitch somewhere in Premiere that made the software think there was a problem after a certain amount of time, when there really wasn't. I don't know, I'm not a coder so that's just my layman guess. I did notice that Premiere was exporting/rendering fine when I was just beginning my project, but after it got to a certain length, that's when I couldn't render or export anymore. It honestly baffles me too. It would be useful to see what the results are if other people tried this simple switch-a-roo so possible issues can be narrowed down.

  • Stop Media Encoder Compositing error? - HELP!

I am queing a sequence from Premiere Pro CC to Media Encoder. Its a composite of a subject on a green screen keyed background with some slide overlays.
When the sequence is rendered there is an odd 'cropping' effect on the slide portion of the video.
Where it should look like this
This happens throughout the entire sequence, in multiple sequences. There is no crop effect of any kind applied to the footage, the entire sequence will play out just fine from inside the timeline, the effect only shows up when rendered through AME.
When I stop AME from using OpenCL and render using Software only the problem appears to be resolved. But I definitely don't like the idea of investing so much CASH in GPU acceleration if Encoder can't effectively take advantage of it. Frustrating.
Anyone seen familiar with a fix for this kind of problem!? Thanks

This began happening to me after a recent update to my AME CC version.  I found that I could rendered directly from Premier Pro CC through the export function.
It apparently has to do with 3-d memory adresses.   I was doing a scene with talent over a keyed out green screen and a CGI stage set in the background.  About two thirds of the background was not rendering, even after I made sure the size requirement for the graphic elements was correct.
I would be interested incomments from someone at Adobe about this situation, we cannot be th eonly ones.
Oh, I am running hardware acceleration on the open GL and have 18 gigs of memory on the motherboard.  3.2 GHZ eight core procesor.

  • Error Compiling Movie: Unknown Error - Simple Solution in Premiere

ADOBE PREMIERE EDITORS: Be forewarned about the infamous "Error Compiling Movie: Unknown Error." It usually doesn't happen unless you're editing a big project like I am and then it screws with you because you've been editing fine until it's time to export and you can't even make your project into a movie, which defeats the purpose of all your hard work. I looked up forum after forum and finally there were a-few solutions that worked for some and not for others. (Adobe said they will get their team on this case right away.) Let's just say I do not have Final Cut Pro, so I cannot export to XML and then import into FCP to do the exporting like some people found helpful. Nor do I have the time to import my Premiere project into After Effects only to manually create all of my "dip to white" transitions. But I would have had to do that if nothing else I tried worked and thankfully, I was able to trick Premiere. It's so simple, it's stupid. Just open a new project in Premiere. Then "import" the project you wanted to export. For some odd reason, without changing anything of substance or in other words, doing practically nothing about the issue, it exports now. Just because I opened a "new" project and "imported" my old project. Of course, this may not work for others, but please try it and then reply your results. Me and I'm sure Adobe would find it very helpful to see if that worked for most people. It worked for me.

  • Scaling transparent media causes "Unknown error" while rendering/exporting

Hi all, since upgrading to Premiere Pro CC I'm encountering a problem that's driving me absolutely insane!
A number of projects I'm trying to work on have an animated logo in the bottom-right corner. The logos can be anything from a transparent PSD file to a sequence of PNG images with alpha channels.
The problem occurs when I shrink the media down using the Morion>Scale function in the Effect Controls window. The moment I do so Premiere refuses to render any previews or export movies, citing the dreaded "Error Compiling Movie: Unknown Error" message.
Is there another way I should be placing these logos? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I'm going crazy here!
