Media error with old project

Hi All,
I'm opening an old FCP5.x project on my FCP6.0.6 system. There are 5 media files in this project. I have all of the original files, but they are now on a different HD. When opening the project FCP asks me if I want to update from an older version, I select OK. Then the dialog asks me to re-connect the missing media. The first 2 work fine, but the other three cause this warning to appear: "Some attributes of one or more of the files you have chosen do not match the attributes of the original. This may cause problems within the sequences that are dependent on them. The attributes that differed are as follows:
- Media Start and End
Would you like to try to connect them again?"
On one clip I can select try again and it moves forward. With the other 2 I have to select continue to move forward. Then those files show in the reconnect media window as having conflicts.
I've seen similar threads here, but they all seem to be due to someone using Media Manager to offline their project and then bring it back online. I didn't do that, I'm simply trying to open an older file using the same original capture files, albeit on a different hard drive.
Does anyone know how I can figure out why FCP is having problems with these files?
Thanks,
Chris

Not really sure actually. It's an hour-long project. I took a quick scan through the timeline to see if there was any audio out of sync, but most of the voice is off-camera. I'm not even sure if the cuts are correct. I do have a dvd of the original project, so I'll have to go through them simultaneously to see if they match.
In the mean time, I'm moving the capture files to an external HD and then going to plug that into my Powerbook which still have FCP5 on it. Will see if the project opens up normally there.
Thanks.
*Edit: actually just tried opening up the project on the laptop - turns out that it must actually be a FCP4 project as I got the same dialog telling me that it was an older project version.... Have to see if the mothballed iMac DV has FCP4...

  • Problem with Task Aggregation from Project Server with old Project Server permissions mode.

Hi, I have installed Sharepoint 2013 with all CU, and Project Server 2013 with June CU update. Later, I attached database from old Project Server 2010 database, all was OK, but now I have my PWA with old Project Server permissions mode.
After that I have created MySite with users from AD of my company, it's OK, but Task Aggregation not working. Moreover, I have not any errors on the MyTask page.
You can see that I can insert private tasks, but I can not see any tasks from pwa, however I have a lot of tasks there. Please help me.
My search works well amd WMA Service too.
Where directly crawler search the tasks? Maybe there are errors in search log with that ulrs?

    Hi,
did you setup the Work Management Service Application in the Central Administration? If yes, please check if the Applicationpool account of the Work Managment Service has full Access to the User Profile Service Application (over the Ribbon | Permissions).
Check also if your Projects are published so that you have a Project Workspace for each Project. In the workspaces you should have a list "Tasks" or "Tasks1" for migrated workspaces. This is important because only Tasks from the workspaces' Tasklist are
    shown in the Mysite
In any other cases please check the ULS Log and/or the Application Event log. Especially have a look to Distributed Cache Service and the Feed Cache.

  • Cs5 is asking me to find all media associated with a project file imported from FCP BY HAND.

Please tell me there is a way around this.
I have an XML file that was exported from FCP and I'm importing it  into CS5. I have the drive with all of the media on it. I load up the XML and CS5 is asking me to find every single piece of media involved with the project by hand on the drive. THis is insane and will take me hours. Why will it not locate it itself? Please someone tell me there's a way to let it search throught he folders on its own.

Repeating some of what has been stated here....
What PPro is looking for is the assets in the same directory structure as when the XML file was created from FCP. So let's say that as you were about to save the XML file from FCP, you had all the assets on 1 single drive. Some were in Folder A, some where in Folder B, some in Folder A-1 (a subfolder of A) and some in Folder B-1 (subfolder of B). As long as the files remained in roughly that same folder structure in relation to one another, PPro should be able to find all the other assets AFTER you've found the first one.
With all the translation if you go from a Mac to a PC system, there's a lot of chance there that the directory structure - even if you kept it basically all intact - could still be messed up. Once the XML is loaded into PPro, however, you should be able to select multiple offline clips in the project folder, choose "Link Media" and have PPro go through and (hopefully) find everything automagically. If not, the Finder button in the "Link Media" dialog box should help.
PPro doesn't really care specifically about folders and subfolders when relinking, it is just looking for the RELATIONAL structure based on the last time the assets were ONLINE in the project. So even if your original assets were in 1,400 different folders, it shouldn't require you to relink based on each individual folder, so long as the RELATIONSHIP between all the files and folders remained the same.
Hopefully that makes sense. I know when I work with FCP editors the footage is generally handed to me on a drive with all the assets being essentially in a very different relationship than when they were on their FCP projects (since they usually are going from multiple drives on their Mac to the single drive that they hand me with the project assets). So I'm usually required to manually relink all the assets anyway. Kind of a bummer, but thankfully most projects are limited to only about 100 assets or so, and filenames are generally unique.
    Good luck!

  • Error importing old project into Premiere Elements 11

Trying to import old project backup - that I made a couple of years ago.  When importing the Project file, I get the error
"The selected file cannot be linked because it's type (video) does not match the original files type (audio and video)."
I try and select the file, but it then gives the error "The selected file cannot be linked because its type (audio and video) does not match the original file's type (video).
If I skip the ones that give me the error, I get an incomplete edit - with lots of bits missing.
HELP!!!  I need to sort this asap......for a client.
    Thanks

    filippinno
Here is my plan, either a start to better or a dud. We are going to start small to get a foothold in this.
My major puzzlement is you telling me that you are replacing video with video and getting the message
The selected file cannot be linked because its type (audio and video) does not match the original file's type (video)
.The only time I have ever seen that message is when someone is trying to replace still with video or video with still.
At this moment, where are the source media that went into the original Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 project? Let us say, all in Documents in a folder named Special - all have their original names. Given that you are 100% that they are the ones that went into this project...the type (video or still) and file name and file extension.
I am not sure if it matters for this test whether or not you are using Premiere Elements 11 or 9.0/9.0.1, I just want to find out what is going on with your source media.
    (a) Open the project using Skip All if you are hit with a bunch of "Where is....?" messages which I assume you will be.
    (b) Go to the Timeline, pick a file with the colorful Media Offline display, write down the file name from its title band.
Right click that file on the Timeline and select Find in Media.
From Organize Media, delete the Media Offline thumbnail that was pointed out to you clicking Reveal in Media.
Go back to the Timeline and this same file, right click it and this time select Reveal in Project. That should take you to Project. Delete the file there that Reveal in Project points you to. That will also delete is counterpart on the Timeline. All traces of that particular Media Offline file are now gone in the project.
In that project, go to Get Media/Files and Folders and browse to and select the original file (with the exact same file name and kind that you just deleted from the project) that you have saved back in that Special Folder in Documents.
Drag that file from Organize Media or Project to the Timeline in the space made available by your deletion of it as an Media Offline thumbnail.
Does that work to replace that particular file. Is it the file that you had there originally? Keep in mind that we are identifying this file by name in each step and need a match of file name from start to end.
If this works for one, then we can plan around this basic finding. And, if this works we may revert back to Replace Footage. But, let us see what happens here first.
What is your estimate of how many of these Media Offline displays are there to be dealt with? How many of the media are in place on that Timeline and are no problem?
    Looking forward to the results.
    Thanks.

  • What to do with old projects?

    Hello all,
I am unsure of how to ask my question, so I can't "RTFM." I wish I could... So here is the scenario.
I have a lot of weddings that I am done with that are just hanging out in the project pane. I want to get them out of there so I can only have projects that I am actively working on. I just don't know how to get rid of them. When I delete the project, do I delete the images? How do I archive it so it's out of the way? Am I making any sense? How do you do this?
Thanks for helping me out. I am pretty good with the software, but this one simple task is alluding me. It's the easiest things that get you...
    Dave

If you delete a project from Aperture, if the files are managed, you are not only deleting any information you applied to those images, but you are also moving those images into the trash. So instead you'd be better off doing one of the following.
    You have a few options.
The simplest option would be to add your current Projects to Favorites and then just have Aperture show "Favorites Projects" in the pull down menu. When your done with that wedding un-favorite it.
Another simple way would be to create a folder and call it something like Old Weddings, Weddings Archive or whatever. Then just move those projects into that folder so you don't have to see them, only the single closed folder. You could also sub folder them into years for easier finding later.
If you really want the entire project out of Aperture you can do the following.
Export the project from Aperture to wherever you want to store it then you can delete the project from the library. If the images are managed they will move with the project. If the images are referenced then you have the option of including the images in the exported project.

  • Eclipse errors with JavaFX project

    Hi all,
I've just downloaded JavaFX and the plugin for Eclipse and am keen to get going with it. However Eclipse is saying I have errors in my project, but when I run the project it runs without errors. My guess is some build path issue but I cant figure this out.
I have the simplest of simple examples generated from the Eclipse plugin. The code is:
    package mypackage;
    import javafx.stage.Stage;
    import javafx.scene.Scene;
    *@author Andrew*
    Stage {
    title : "MyApp"
    scene: Scene {
    width: 200
    height: 200
    content: [ ]
}Eclipse underlines everything from Stage downwards in red and the errors it presents me with are as follows:
    Description Resource Path Location Type
cannot access javafx.lang.Builtins class file for javafx.lang.Builtins not found main.fx /myfx/src/mypackage line 1 JavaFX Problem
cannot find symbol symbol : class Scene location: class mypackage.main main.fx /myfx/src/mypackage line 11 JavaFX Problem
cannot find symbol symbol : class Stage location: class mypackage.main main.fx /myfx/src/mypackage line 9 JavaFX Problem
Invalid assignment main.fx /myfx/src/mypackage line 10 JavaFX Problem
Invalid assignment main.fx /myfx/src/mypackage line 11 JavaFX Problem
.. and so on and so forth.
Like I said when I run the application from within Eclipse it gives me no errors and presents an empty dialog box with the title myapp. So Im sure the code is working.
Any help would be much appreciated :)
    regards,

  • IDVD freezing when trying to work with old project

I am running iLife '09 and OS X 10.6.2. I burned this project successfully in the past 12/09 after creating it, however trying to burn and work with the project after some changes and iDVD will freeze or give me a grey screen and crash. Where can I look to see the cause of this? Crash Reporter has no logs of the events.
    cheers!
    James

    Hi
There is a bug in iDVD'09 (at least)
If You make an iDVD project
Then go back to Your movie and make a small change
Then open iDVD again - it will notice this and say to Update or Cancel
    NEITHER of them works.
ONLY one medicine - Make a brand new iDVD project and re-import Your movie.
Sorry - Non has come up with a more elegant solution. (at all)

  • Replace with after effects composition is replacing one clip with old project

    PP CC 2014
    AE CC 2014
    Windows 7
    Hello,
when I "replace with after effects composition" in PP - After Effects is replacing one *mov clip (only one of hundreds) with an old aep comp, that I was working on yesterday. And say that this aep is missing...
I allready purge all data, deleted all cache (PP&AE) restart Computer...
What can I do...Its really stopping me from reaching my deadline tonight....
    Thanks!

    Ok guys...I got it...
Its not a *mov that it missplaced, its another dynamic link to AE...so dynamic link to dynamic link seems not to work? I accidently linked that clip and worked on it in AE in the old aep from yesterday..but still wondern why AE get confused loading it...the "old aep comp" is full with others comp...could that be the reason...?

  • Invalid Media Error with Slideshow

I am trying to export a iPhoto 09 Slideshow to iDVD. It seems to take MUCH longer than it used to with iPhoto 08. The slideshow has about 900 images in it. I imported the images directly into the iPhoto Library from an external folder.
After about 3 hours of exporting, I get a message that says, "Invalid Media found in the movie" and the export stops.
What can I do to get this slideshow to export?
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
Sorry I don't have an answer for you but I discovered this problem last night. So you are not alone with this.
I was thinking this could be related to the music I had also attached to the slide show. Though I will have to experiment a bit more to prove this thought. If this is the case, then one workaround I will try will be to export the slide show only and add the music later in iMovie for instance... But I don't consider that a solution even if it is possible.
    Regards,
    Steve

  • Error with bounced projects

    Hi,
I finished a project with just one long audio file (69 minutes), I used the (new Logic 8-) compressor and the adaptive limiter as plugins on the file - not in the mix Plug In section. Then I saved it, and I bounced it. I can open this bounced (and thus processed) version, still untracked.
Then I added the neccessary 13 tracks on the places they needed to be in the bounced, processed version of the waveburner project. When done I saved it again and closed it. When trying to open it, I get the message "bounced audio not found". The same mistake occurs with an older version of waveburner. So how can I finish this project?
    Anybody else with similar problems?
    Thomas

YES it's driving me MAD. I edit a track. Click bounce mix, or bounce region. I choose the proper bit depth, dithering, .aff, etc.... It appears to be bouncing, I see the file being created on the desktop of the volume I chose as the target. THEN IT VANISHES No where to be found by spotlight.
APPLE APPLE APPLE . For my next trick watch me trash the preferences. To be continued.......

  • Missing Media error after moving project from MacBook to iMac

I can see the project in iMovie fine, and the audio track information bars are still showing in the editing window, but the background music track is now called "output" instead of the song name, even though I added that song to the iTunes library. That isn't a big deal, but when it comes to the Voiceover tracks it is a huge pain because I'll lose all the lipsyncing I have done. (When doing outdoor interviews, in order to defeat wind noise I use lavalier mics and digital recorders to produce separate wav files for the questions and answers.) Any ideas how to relink the tracks?

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion for the first time or to switch between multiple domain files  Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Media Link lost on project load

When I open my project the media associated with the project shows that it is loading in the lower left hand corner of the program.  It gets to about 123 files left to load and then it stops.  I then have to attempt to locate all the rest of files with the Link Media tool this works for a few files and then it stops responding.  What is the problem and how do I keep my project linked to its media assets?
    AE dynamic linked assets
    AVCHD video shot on C100
I have cleared the media cache
Media is stored on a 8TB Raid 10 NAS connected with a Gigabit router.  The NAS is on my desk connected directly to my computer through the router.
    Computer Specs
    Windows 7 Professional
    Dell Precision T3600
    Proccessor: Intel Xeon CPU E5-1620 0 @ 3.60 GHz
    Ram: 16 GB
    64 Bit operating system

I have tried that now, after every thing has moved over, I can open the project and find all the media.  But when I go to export the status bar comes up for the export and it sits at 0%.
So one step forward but only to find another road block.  This project worked fine a week ago, I don't understand how this happened.
I may have to return to editing on Avid, at least it worked when I needed it to.

  • Problems with iMovie 6.0.3 corrupting old projects?

    Hi everyone
This is my first post, and I have a very big problem which I hope you can help me with.
In a nutshell, ever since installing iMovie 6.0.3 I have had some very strange problems with opening certain old projects. On opening a project I get the standard "this is an old project, do you want to convert" message, and then a number of things happen. Either iMovie opens with absolutely nothing in the Clips pane or the timeline (and this is in a project with several gigabytes of clips); or, a couple of random clips appear in the trash, but nothing else; and/or, I get a blank project which seems to be in NTSC format, whereas all my projects are in PAL.
All the original clips are there in the Media folder, but are not recognised if I try to import them (Error during import; Quicktime couldn't parse it: -199).
I have tried re-installing both iMovie 4 and 5, but no joy. So, I can't open the 'bad' projects in either the old iMovie formats or the new one. The wierd thing is that some (newer) projects do work.
Following some old threads here I have tried using Lennart's File Fixer - didn't help. Also tried moving the .mov file and opening project. Again, didn't help.
Sooo...any ideas? I am really desperate! The old files are there, it's just that nothing seems to be able to read them.
    Thanks for your help.
