Media Explorer won't install on Vi

I have the Zen 6GB, and when I try and install the software on my Vista machine, I get several "Microsoft Register Server has stopped responding" errors popping up on the screen.
The installation completes, but the link for the software on my desktop is a blank icon, and the program won't run....
I have a dual boot system, so I'm able to use the explorer when I'm in XP, but has anyone else had this issue? I've tried using the disk that came with the player, and also the latest version from the website... same issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's the same for me.
And my Zen often froze when I synchronize with Windows Media player.
A new firmware will be needed fast, because IT'S A HELL using a Zen with Vista.

  • Media sync won't install

I have the BB Curve 8330 from Boost Mobile & I have routinely installed, deleted, & reinstalled the BB Desktop Software because I could never get the Media Sync to work. It wouldn't install. So finally I went online & downloaded the newest version of Media Sync & attempted to install it. However, I receieve this error message: An unsupported operating system has been detected. BlackBerry Media Sync setup wizard will now exit. Can anyone help me out in why this is happening? I would greatly appreciate it & thank everyone in advance.

    Hello,
Can you specify what OS you are using? Make sure to use the following download link for the BlackBerry Media Sync.

  • Verizon Media Manager won't install - How do I get photos from my phone memory to my PC?

I'm getting frustrated with my new Droid, HTC Incredible. The salesman said I could just plug in the USB and transfer my photos to and from my computer, that the phone would look just like an external hard drive. False...
I plug in the USB and get an option to open the folders or to install drivers. If I chose to open the folders, I see three external drives - one with an autorun.inf file and a few other files. If I click on the other two drives, I get a message telling me to install a disk in the drive.
If I click, "Install Drivers" I am taken to the VerizonWireless website and instructed to install Verizon Media Manager. Okay, so I try to do that, on my Windows 64 bit OS, and get a message that says,
"This Application does not support 64 bit operating systems - operation aborted" (or something like that).
    So now what?

I apologize you are having problems connecting your device with your PC.
    Try using these steps below:
    Windows 7
Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Device Manager.
    Windows Vista
Click Start > (Settings) Control Panel > (System and Maintenance) > Device Manager.
    If prompted, click Continue.
     Windows 2000 / XP
Click Start > (Settings) Control Panel > (Performance and Maintenance) > System > Hardware > Device Manager.
The following devices are normally installed:
    Anrdoid USB Devices
    My HTC
    Disk drives
    HTC Android Phone USB Device
    Modems
HTC Modem (if using as a tethered modem)
    Portable Devices
E:/ (Where E represents the assigned drive letter.)
    Universal Serial Bus controllers
    USB Composite Device
    USB Mass Storage Device
If a red X, yellow ! or yellow ? is displayed to the left of a listed device, a conflict is present and the drivers must be updated or reinstalled.
Driver conflicts may also be indicated by a device entry labeled Other Devices or Unknown.
    1.  If using the HTC DROID Incredible ADR6300 as a Sync device continue to step 3. If using the HTC DROID Incredible ADR6300 as a Modem ensure the device drivers are installed.
    2.  If VZAccess Manager is installed and a driver conflict is still present, continue to step 3. Right-click the device then click Update Driver Software.
    3.  If using Windows 2000 / XP, right-click the device then click Update Driver.
The device name may differ from the example shown.
    4. Click Browse my computer for driver software.
If using Windows 2000 / XP, select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) then click Next.
Enter C:\Windows\System32\driver into the search window then click Next.
If using Windows 2000 / XP, ensure that Search for the best driver in these locations and Include this location in the search are selected.
    5.  The driver location can be entered manually or navigated to by clicking Browse.
If the driver software is not found, a Windows Operating System update  may be needed.
    6. Click Close.
If using Windows 2000 / XP, click Finish.
Once your done, you should be able to see one of the following choices in  your My Computer:
    Anrdoid USB Devices
    My HTC
    Disk drives
    HTC Android Phone USB Device
    Modems
HTC Modem (if using as a tethered modem)
    Portable Devices
E:/ (Where E represents the assigned drive letter.)
    Universal Serial Bus controllers
    USB Composite Device
    USB Mass Storage Device
You can then sync the device with the PC.
Connect the device to the computer with the USB cable. From the home screen, pull down the window shade (located at the top of the screen).
Touch Disk drive then touch Done.
From File Explorer / Finder on the computer, create a new music folder in Removable Disk (X.
Removable Disk (X represents the SD Card installed in the device. This name may vary.
Use the computer to copy pictures into the newly created folder.
From the home screen, pull down the window shade (located at the top of the screen).
Touch Charge only then touch Done.
Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.

  • Creative Media Source won't install

I just bought a Zen Microphoto and I was anxious to upload my songs on the forementioned player. However as I tried to install Creative MediaSource which I downloaded from this very site, I encountered a strange problem.
I clicked on the setup and my PC proceeded to extract the files, and when the setup screen loads up, there's a message saying "Looking for previously installed components" and there are two setup screens minimized to my taskbar (CMS web installer and Creative Media Source - Install Shield Wizard) Whenever I click either of them nothing will happen. I'm pretty confused about this.
I'm sure it's not my hardware because my PC is up to date and I never had problems of the likes. I browsed the forums for an answer and I've heard of a software conflict with quicktime, I followed the advices with no results. I'm pretty desperate right now and I can't wait to use my Zen MicroPhoto. Did anyone encounter a problem similar to this?

    Hi MusicoftheNight-
I had a similar issue when downloading the PlayForSure software for my Zen Touch. What I ended up doing was something I found in another thread. Download the installer, then use Winzip or Winrar and make an archi've of it. Unzip or Unrar it to another folder and then go into each folder and run the setup icons individually.
This is the only thing that worked for me.
When I needed to update just Mediasource I installed it in safe mode.
My computer is up to date and everything as well but this is the only thing that worked. Good luck!

  • GPIB Explorer won't install interface (OS X)

I've installed the NI-488.2 drivers on my TiBook 500 running OS X 10.2.3. The GPIB ENET/100 device is working fine from other computers. EthernetConfig sees the ENET/100 device just fine, but when I enter its IP address using Explore GPIB, it says the interface has been added, but the list is still empty.
After quitting GPIB Explorer, I see a file called ini$$0.TMP in the NI-488.2 directory. It is a text file with what looks like configuration info. So my guess is it can't write the info where it wants to, due to a permission problem. But it gives no error message at all, just doesn't work.

Found the answer: You have to have admin priveleges to install an interface. Sure would be nice if Explore GPIB would at least tell you that. Or better yet, let you enter an admin user/password if you need to.
For now you have to either log in as an admin user, or use something like Pseudo to launch Explore GPIB with root priveleges.

  • Phone Companion will Install, Media Go Won't Install

    Hi,
I downloaded Phone companion from the internet so i could put some music on my Xperia Z. It will install correctley and load, but then whenever i try and load Media Go from it, it trys intalling it and just freezes and never does anything.
I then tried downloading Media Go straight from the Sony Website and it always comes up saying "a programme is already install/uninstalling, please finish this before trying to install". Theres no programme already trying to install/uninstall so i dont understand whats wrong.
Ive also uninstalled Phone Companion and tried installing Media Go then, but still the same problem. And ive tried running as an "Administator" and in "Compaitbility Mode".
    Could please someone help me
    Thanks

Just to clarify, have you tried rebooting the PC then installing MediaGo separately?

  • Media Manager won't install

I have an 8220.  I am trying to manage the pictures on my device.  Apparently I did not install Media Manager when I first installed the desktop software as it is grayed out.  I tried to "modify" my installation but it looks as though it is already installed.
I am afraid to completely uninstall for fear of losing something like installed games.
    What am I missing?

So when you went to Modify the installation, was the Media Manager set to "Run all from my computer"? Was the version of the Desktop Manager you downloaded one that came with the Media Manager?
Does the 8220 have a trackball in the middle of it? If so then you do not need to use the Media Manager to transfer files to/from the BlackBerry. Check out this KB article that explains about Mass Storage Mode. This is how I transfer files to/from my device.

  • Media Explorer Stopped Explor

After several years loyal use of his Zen Touch, I have upgraded my son to the latest Zen (32GB flash). On recieving this for his birthday, he loaded they supplied software onto his PC running Vista, plugged in his Zen and everything worked fine.
24 hours later, the Creative Media Explorer won't explore the contents of the MUSIC folder - this includes doing a "right-click-> explore". The versions of both the software and firmware supplied with the device are up to date and?match those available for download.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks,
    DB

That was my first suggestion to him too - I don't know if he's tried it yet. But he made a valid comment - "if it screwed up once, after just 24 hours, what's the likelihood of it doing so again?". A system restore might be viable option now, only a few days into having the software installed - but what if it happens again in a couple of months time?

  • Bad Software Update: Creative Media Explorer 6.21.08 Software Pack for

I've just tried installing the 9 April update for the Zen Vision:M 30GB - the Creative Media Explorer 6.2.08 Software Pack for the Zen Vision:M30 and 60 GB. This is supposed to run under Vista. Well, it launches fine, but someone forgot to put the install dialogue as the top-level window in the installshield. The dialogue is hopelessly trapped behind the snazzy Creative background screen - it's not a separate application, so there's no way to switch it to the front. If you kill off the upgrade in task manager, you can see the dialogue for a few seconds, then it dies as well. Creative - can you please pull this back and repackage it so that it actually works? Thanks!

    Hi,
I have a similar problem with my 8gb?zen. On installation of the sen media explorer I get the error message "Microsoft(C) Register Server has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Installation completes but media explorer is not installed. As mentioned it doesnt mean the end of the player but it's nice to have full functionality from your new product. The price paid for these players, I think the least we can expect is a working suite of software. Actually, customer service gave up on me and said it is a Vista issue and they have not heard of such a problem before. Hmmmm, unlikely, unless my Vista 32bit (recently installed) configuration is unique.... and you don't exist.?I think they only way to get a solution is if others who have a similar issue post here. Hopefully some genius will figure it out, or Creative will address the issue. Mat

  • IS the Zen Media Explorer available as a separate install

Am wondering if the Zen Media Explorer is available as a separate download anywhere. Up till now I have been able to explore all the software for the Creative Zen using the compatability wizard, but now the conflicts in the DemoShield installer software have become too much of an issue even with that. I can install the software from my partner's Micro Photo, which uses a far more up-to-date version of of the DemoShield software, but that still leaves me without the Media Explorer for the Zen - and the features only available via that console, such as personal organizer. If the Zen Media Explorer is available as a separate installer, it would enable one to avoid the errors caused by the outdated and incompatible DemoShield installer.
All this does make me wonder why the installer software was not updated when it was re-marketed out here in Australia. The Creative Zen hit our shores a few months after the Micro Photo, and yet DemoShield software is about two and half years older (created in 200!) - why was it never updated so that such problems could have been completely avoided?

Zakhana, you raise a good point about not having to use InDesign on the Mac to submit your app. It makes sense that DPS App Builder works only on a Mac since a Mac is required to create the Apple certificates and submit the app. Apple doesn't allow users to do either of those tasks on a Windows machine. But if you build your folios using a Windows computer, you should be able to use the Mac to sign in to the DPS App Builder directly rather than having to go through InDesign. As you mentioned, you can authorize your Mac, submit your app, and then deauthorize the Mac, but that's extra work.
This Create App workflow for Creative Cloud members also makes updating an app difficult. I'll see if there's a way to improve the Creative Cloud workflow on Windows and let you know what I find out.

  • Explore Music won't install

After installing the latest version of Nokia PC Suite, the explore Music part won't install on my PC. I successfully click through get the various dialogue boxes, and then get to the install part and all three application components fail to install.
I am running Windows XP SP3. All other parts to PC Suite seem to work fine and I previously used Nokia music to manage the music file transfers onto my E51. Any suggestions as to a fix would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
As of now not all Nokia phones are compatible with Nokia Music(PC application).... Hence my workaround for you guys at the moment will be check in google for Nokia PC Suite 7.1.26.1 version, which will have Nokia Music Manager which is supported for most of the Nokia Phones, similar to your issues you may find posts in
