Media file paths broken....

My external HD with itunes library is dead. I bought a new disc and put library backup on this. But the path for all my files are broken. How can i fix this?

Two possible approaches.
1. Over in Windows the easy fix would be to make sure that the new drive had the same drive letter as the old one. I don't know if the same is true for a Mac since I don't know what conventions apply in naming Mac devices/volumes. If you Get Info. on a missing file and cancel when asked to locate the file, then look on the summary tab, it should show you the path the library expects to be able to find that particular file at. It may be that you can tweak the volume name or do something esoteric to make the file appear at the correct path, in which case job done.
2. Double-click on a file to play it, iTunes will ask you to try to locate the file, do so. It should then ask if should try to use the same location to fix other broken links. Let it. If you are lucky it will sort everything out for you, although it may take more than one attempt. Once you've started down this route you can't use the other.

  • Media file path in IP IVR - Run external VRU script

    Hi all,
I am configuring ICM script by using run external vru script which is located in IP IVR server. But, I am not sure how pass media file path from ICM script to VRU script.
Last time, I used  IVR version 7.0. I set the path such as: c:\MediaServer\english. Now, I am running IVR version 10 with en_US language.
    Any advise?

  • No "Media File Path"

When opening a project with offline media, PP is not presenting a window with suggested media paths. Also no locate button is available. PP just gives me a window letting me know the file is unfound. I can retreave the file if I know where it is but no file path offered as assistance like I see in the tutorials.
This is not issolated to a single project. This proplem I'm having is for every project.

Premiere Pro CS6 up to date

    Hi HAVitTV,
This feature is introduced in the latest version which is Premiere pro CC, available through creative cloud subscription.  In CC you get a box with a filepath and a locate button at the bottom. Please check the tutorials again and make sure that they are for cs6 not CC.

  • Fileserver problems (Win/Mac): file path broken

I'm working in a mixed pc/mac environment. Most clients run Windows, some run Mac OS X, but we're all connected to the same Windows file server.
When I sit at a Mac client and place a picture from the Win server into a ID CS3 document, the path to the photo will look like this (in ID's Link panel):
    PARTITION:Clientfolder:project_folder:photo.tif
    BUT...
When sitting at a Win client, placing the exact same picture from the same source, the path now look like this:
    \\SERVER\partition\Clientfolder\project_folder\photo.tif
Note that the "\\SERVER\" part is not in the Mac path.
This is a problem because whenever we open a document on "the other platform", all links are broken and we must manually re-link them.
I've tried mounting the partition using both "smb" and "afp" protocols on the Mac, but still get the same result.
Any clue as to what is going on is greatly appreciated! :)

    >...the Links panel uses platform specific filepaths.
I think there must be more to it than that. I do not normally work this way, but I just tried it, and I had no problem with the links using this setup:
    Mac - ID CS3 5.0.2 on MacBookPro 10.5.2
Windows - ID CS3 5.0.2 in Parallels on the same MBP running Vista
    "Server" - Windows 2000 sp4 (client)
I created a file on the Mac using images residing on the "server" volume which was mounted as SMB. The link information was a Dennis suggests - "\\Server\Share\Directory\file"
I saved the file, and then opened it under Vista, and there was no complain about the links. Looking at the Link Info, they were also as Dennis described - "Share:Directory:file"
I'm not sure what accounts for our different results, but I'm happy to do any testing with my set up...

  • How do I reconnect missing media files?

I have imported an iMovie project but the links to the Media files are broken.  How do I recconect in FCPX

If you have the original media files you can do the following ...  Select a clip that has a missing media file from your timeline.  Control Click and choose Reveal in Event Browser.  The event the clip is in and the clip icon should appear in the event browser.  If you had previously selected only a section of the clip a yellow border will show the part of the clip you had used.  Be careful not to run your cursor over that clip so as not to change the yellow border.  Go to the File/Import ... File menu selection and point to the location of the original clip. Import the clip.  The icon in the event browser and the associated clip on your timeline should fill in with the clip you just imported.  If you had applied effects to the clip on the timeline they should still be there, and you can verify that by clicking on the timeline clip and looking at the Video tab under the Inspector window.  This method works well for me in generic cases ... not sure if you have a different iMovie-related issue coming into play.  Best wishes.

  • Compiling Media invalid file path error when buring a DVD

    Hello,
I have updated to 3.0.2 Premiere Elements and the latest XP Home updates. I had 2.0 and it worked without any problems. I bought 3.0 and have had nothing but problems, I can capture, access files and put a video together but no matter if to file or to DVD I always get this error
    "Burn DVD Progress screen"
    "Compiling Media invalid file path"
then it all stops and nothing.
Any help or suggestions appreciated, I searched the web for this error and found nothing, when I search here I seem to get every Adobe product comes up but no premiere.
    Thank you

I started to do the FAQ to build a clean AVI file. I also re-installed the program, did an update to 3.0.2, defrag. Made sure I had 118gig space. All in order. Still I got the errors. Then I thought perhaps since this pointed to a path that somewhere a path was not correct. So I looked under Preferences - scratch disks - and found they all pointed to the D drive where I had some old Adobe files. It appears the 2.0 version worked when I had the files stored on another partition and 3.0 did not like this. So when I moved everything in Scratch Disk to the same folder on C: where I installed 3.0 things seemed to begin to work.
I tested it by burning to a file and then to an actual DVD and both worked well. I have a quad core chip.
Now the problem seems to be when I edit each end of a clip, "the IN and OUT" the in does not seem to be saved or rendered. When I get to the preview I can still see and hear date prior to the SET IN. I save, re-save and re-render and it still happens. However some clips it works fine.
Thanks again for pointing me in a direction so at least I can start to trouble shoot.

  • FIle path between iTunes and music files broken

Somehow I've managed to lose the file path connecting my songs on an external hard drive with iTunes. I've checked the advanced aoptions to make sure that iTunes is pointing to F: (instead of C:) but no dice.
Obviously I can go through and reconnect them all individually but for 16,000 songs that's not an option. I also don't want to reload the song files (by opening them directly from the drive) and lose all my play count information.
I've had this happen before when upgrading PCs or when the EHD was renamed and been able to fix it but this time nothing seems to work.

Yes it has. I recently changed from laptop to PC and managed to load iTunes on PC, copy across playcount and album artwork information and have the EHD connected and showing the correct pathways. Everything was working fine for about 3 days. When launching iTunes a couple of days ago, it asked me to go through the setup screens again (which I did) and since then the file paths have been missing. I've been into the xml file of the iTunes library and it shows everything pointing to the default c: drive location. This may be because I read that consolidating the library (under the advanced tab) would help but it didn't.

  • Media Files in Premiere Pro CS5.5

I have several large 60GB media video files I will be importing into the project section of Premiere Pro CS5.5   These files are stored on an external hard drive (will be using FW800) where I plan on working with these files from the external HD.   The question I have is, once I import them into the project section of Premiere Pro CS5.5 and start editing with various pieces of video from the project files, will the original media files residing on the external HD be changed or edited in anyway or will they remain the same?   It is my understanding that these files will remain unchanged and that CS5.5 will just use the data from the original files and then once the PP Project is exported, the data will just be copied from the original media and the original media files remain unchanged?  I would appreciate it if someone could confirm this to be ture.   Thank you!

When working from external HDD's, here's a tip: make sure to set the drive letter for that external (on a PC) HDD in the computer's OS, so that it will ALWAYS be the same, everytime that it is plugged in, or turned on, regardless of the order.
The links to those media files are absoute Paths, so if anything in the Path changes, the links will be broken.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Reconnecting clips weirdness no file path listed

Every time I open my project I have to reconnect 10 clips.
7 of the clips have no file path. Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Here's a snapshot http://snipr.com/uw311-q2w

    Tom Wolsky wrote:
"Do you know what files it's looking for? What are the exact names of the media files?"
At least give us the exact clip names? Something.
God I wish I did, then I could reconnect the clips. How can I find this out if all it says is "Macintosh HD:" and blank space? Is there some other utility I can use?
Copying to a new project won't do anything if the file path is broken. Do you know where >the media is? Presumably in your capture scratch.
    yes it's in my scratch.
I figure if I first make a copy the of project file, open this, then delete unused sequences out it may resolve the issue as the sequences that I need to play work fine. I figure it's trying to resolve clips from sequences I could give two ***** about. Maybe then it would stop trying to locate that data.
I dunno... I'm a Mac Consultant and this issue has me baffled.
I even bought FCS Suite to clean up my FCP system, but figured it wouldn't solve this problem and it hasn't.

  • Payment media file not saved on the local PC in FBPM

    Dear all,
In transaction FBPM, if I choose the option ouput to the file system and point out the path to the folder where the file to be generated on my local PC, by the running of the transaction I am getting the following error:
BFIBL02182 - The file XXXXXXXXX cannot be opened.
If I want to download the payment media file I have to download it manualy.
I don't have some access limitation on my computer.
For this error I found the following explanation in teh forums: The error message BFIBL02182 normally is showing because the directory that was used when starting the payment media program (for example, in background processing), cannot be read online. You should therefore choose a directory that can be written to and read by different machines.
    Acctually I don't understand this.
I would like the system to download the file automatically by the running of the transaction.
Please could help, what I have to do, ? How to check if the chosen by me dirictory is possible to be read online?
Thanks in advance for the help?

    Hi,
Please validate the Payment medium: Selection Variant in T-Code: OBPM4 and then search the variant in T-Code FBPM, for the relevant Payment Medium Format, type the File Name something like this: C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Payment
    Save
After the payment run is completed. You need to go to Menu in F110 screen and select Environment-> Payment Media->DME Administration, select the line and click Export button and select Download.
This is the only way you can download when the presentaion server is used.
    Hope this helps....
    Thanks,
    Ashok

  • Problem in accessing the media files from another server

Currently I am working in a project with streaming video on demand and using FMS 4.5.
Let’s say the FMS is installed on one machine say ‘121.123.35.34’ and there is another server ‘100.54.88.222’ where all the media files belong. Now we need to point to this third server to play videos from FMS.I have done the below changes:
    In the fms.ini file: set the VOD_DIR2 = \\100.54.88.222\myvideos
In the application.xml: Added the stream: <Streams>/hr;${VOD_DIR2}</Streams>
From my application accessing the path of flv as:source= “rtmp:// 121.123.35.34:1935/vod/hr/test” . Not able to access the video.
Note: If I will point to say ‘C:hrvideos’ in VOD_DIR2, then I am able to access the videos using the same URL.
I also tried mapping the shared path to the FMS machine and then given the mapped drive path in the VOD_DIR2, but this also doesn’t work.
    Please let me know:
If we need to configure any other parameter to stream videos from another server.
VOD_COMMON_DIR: I modified this similar TO VOD_DIR to location 'C:hrvideos', I am able to stream the videos using rtmp, but not abl eto stream with http.
Please let me know  can we stream using http also as we need this to run f4m manifest file.
              http://121.123.35.34:8134/vod/hr/sample.mp4.
              http://121.123.35.34:8134/vod/hr/sample.f4m
    Thanks,
    Anjali

    Hi Shiven,
I followed the steps suggested by you:
    1) Changed the stream:
    <Streams>/hr;${VOD_DIR2}</Streams> to<Streams>/;${VOD_DIR2}</Streams>
But not able to access the video with rtmp:// 121.123.35.34:1935/vod/test
    2) For http streaming, changes the HttpStreamingContentPath in hds-vod in the httpd config file, and tried to stream the video like:
    http:// 121.123.35.34:8134/vod/test.mp4 or
    http:// 121.123.35.34:8134/hds-vod/test.mp4
But not able to load the video.
    Please suggest?
    Thanks & Regards,

  • I have converted most of my windows media files to itunes. However I had to close it down about 3 quarters of the way through. It then processed the album art. How can I convert the files that it didn't finish doing the first time? thanks

    Hi there,
hope you can help me. I helped my sister convert her window media files to itunes and set up an account for her. Unfortunately her computer is really slow and it was really late and we had to turn it off. It processed some of the album art for the files that it had converted. However, some songs were not converted and because there was quite a few left, I don't really know which ones did not get converted as I selected  all of the folders. How do I find out which ones I have left to convert and put the rest of the songs onto itunes for her please? Or are they on the itunes still as they showed up initially on itunes in the list to be converted.
    Thank you!

You could convert them all again and then dedupe, or use a Windows search to reveal all the WMA files and then try to work out which still need to be converted. If you're lucky iTunes would have processed the imports in alphabetical path order so it would just be a matter of working out where it had got up to...

  • I have 60 000 songs on a hard drive. The songs are referenced to the media file and not stored in the media file. I have moved the songs to another external drive. The itunes library has lost the link to the media files. How can I restore the links?

I have all my songs (60 000) on a remote drive. The drive is wireless networked. I installed a new router and had to map the drive again. Once this was done itunes could no longer locate the music. My music is not sitting in my media file but is rather referenced to the location of the music. Now that the location has changed due to the remapped drive how can I link the itunes library to the songs (media)again.
I have read many help comments and forums but so far nothing specific about relinking once the songs have already been moved and are referenced songs.
A step by step procedure would be helpful.
    Thank you
    Graham

I've uploaded a newer version that might catch that error. For some background on the script look at this thread.
iTunes remembers the location of each file in the database. If you right-click on a missing file, click Get Info, cancel when it asks you to try to find it, then look on the summary tab it will show you the last known location in the form file://localhost/<some path>. If you put the files back where they are expected to be, close iTunes and reopen, then iTunes will find them again. If not my script can attempt the task. When the script asks for a media folder you should respond with Z:\ since that seems to be where the artist folders are located.

  • Music is missing from Media files

So I have many CD's I have copied to iTunes.  I copied them years ago.  I'm now trying to copy some of the music files from media to my phone (non-Apple) which requires me to do it from the media file location on my windows.
I noticed music is missing from my music on iTunes.  I have not found a way to update/backup whatever to get the missing music to the media files?

"Not sure how or what caused the Compilations folder in the file path."
iTunes will put any songs for which the "Part of a Compilation" flag is set into the Compilations folder.  Unless you have an older type of iDevice there's really no need to ever use "Part of a Compilation" (and even if you do, its only necessary for "Various Artists" compilations).  In this example, if you select the album in iTunes, right-click > Get Info >  Summary tab and set Part of a Compilation to "No" (and assuming that you have configured iTunes to manage your library) the media will be moved to C:\Users\RS Desktop\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\.38 Special\Flashback_ The Best of .38 Special.
"So after I moved a few songs over, went to iTunes to play.  It says it can't locate the songs."
Ah, that may be the problem ... based on what you're reporting you have these two options set under Edit > Preferences > Advanced:
This means that iTunes determines where to store media based on Artist and Album information - if you start moving files around yourself it will inevitably lose track of it (indeed, iTunes lacks any capability to keep track of media when moved by anything else, irrespective of its settings).
"How do if I click on a song a pop up asks if I want to locate, then I can go to the media files folder and get the song, but that if individually."
iTunes does sometimes automatically fix related links when you do this - however, it can't be guaranteed to do so and there is no "bulk fix" capability built into iTunes itself.
If possible, restore your iTunes Media using a backup taken before you started moving files around.  Turingtest2 has a useful script (http://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/scripts.asp#FindTracks) that may help to resolve further issues (as always, before you start running any scripts that may modify the content of your library take a backup first).
