Media files turn to text

When a site links to an .mp4 file (as oposed to embedding it), safari and ie on the mac with tiger fill the page with gibberish characters. i even option click to download, and it adds a .txt extension. If i remove the extension, all is good. is there a setting or something i should change?

In this case what I would recommend you is to connect the hard drive to one of your computer, take the backup and then format the hard drive while it is connected to USB port at the back of the router. Please click on the following link to know how to format the hard drive through the router

After formatting, get the data back into the hard drive from the computer. Now connect the hard drive to the router and then map the drive again. Here is the link for quick USB storage setup guide for the router: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=93&login=1&vw=1&app=search&articleid=21517&userrole=Links...

That's not extracting anything from the lines. That's just dumping the contents of the file directly into the ring. That can be accomplished by simply doing this:

Thanks for the info. I noticed that you have a Windows system. Is QuickTime installed? It should be.
If so and you still cannot import, what happens if you change the extension of the media file from .mov to .mpg?

  • I have converted most of my windows media files to itunes. However I had to close it down about 3 quarters of the way through. It then processed the album art. How can I convert the files that it didn't finish doing the first time? thanks

    Hi there,
hope you can help me. I helped my sister convert her window media files to itunes and set up an account for her. Unfortunately her computer is really slow and it was really late and we had to turn it off. It processed some of the album art for the files that it had converted. However, some songs were not converted and because there was quite a few left, I don't really know which ones did not get converted as I selected  all of the folders. How do I find out which ones I have left to convert and put the rest of the songs onto itunes for her please? Or are they on the itunes still as they showed up initially on itunes in the list to be converted.
    Thank you!

You could convert them all again and then dedupe, or use a Windows search to reveal all the WMA files and then try to work out which still need to be converted. If you're lucky iTunes would have processed the imports in alphabetical path order so it would just be a matter of working out where it had got up to...

    Hello Mr. Krish,
I believe that this error has been corrected because you had to send the W2 form .
But this issue was caused due to the fact that your file HR_F_W2_TAPE_DEC does not have a header line. The note 1553756 was delivered to correct this dump.

    Thanks for the reply.
I checked the link that I posted back in post 3 of your thread. It is working with at least Firefox and Chrome.
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE12: Motion Tracking/What To Use To Track Object?
    What browser are you using?
The blog post contains significant information related to Premiere Elements 12 Motion Tracking. But, if you cannot access it for some reason, then we will need to troubleshoot via communications in the thread.
SG has asked if you are able to create Motion Tracking effect using one of the graphics included with the program. We will watch for your response to him on that question. Please include in your message to him whether you can obtain your file to track the object using Organizer Tab or Project Assets routes as well as Graphics Tab.
The following is an excerpt from the blog post referenced....
    SOLUTION
Various tutorials and online comments have pointed to places other than Graphics Tab where objects can be selected and used to track the moving object in the video when the Motion Tracking workspace is opened in the Expert or Quick workspace.
Organizer Tab, Expert or Quick workspace to access Elements Organizer 12. Cascade Windows and drag a video or photo from Elements Organizer into the yellow track box of Motion Tracking workspace.
Project Assets, Expert workspace. Drag text, video, or photos from opened Project Assets into the yellow track box of Motion Tracking workspace.
Graphics Tab, Expert or Quick workspace. Create a png file (graphic) or prtl file (text) and place it in Clip Arts in the Program Files of the program to have a permanent resource. Then from Graphics Tab, drag the newly created graphic or text object into yellow track box of Motion Tracking workspace.
    Thanks.

  • How do I view hidden media files on iPad Air?

I recorded some interviews on a third-party app (Voice Recorder Pro) that I need to edit. I tried email the file to myself  from the app so I could access the .m4a file, but I got an error saying I need to download it from iTunes.  I cannot figure out how to get the file into iTunes. The setup icon in the app only has two icons: change color and contact us. I've sent a couple of emails and have gotten no response. Their website is a single page in Italian so no help there.
I even downloaded a third party app on my PC called iExplorer which is supposed to backup files such as text messages to my PC. I have a Mac Air at the office that I synced my iPad to trying to get the files imported into iTunes so I can access these .m4a files and I keep hitting a brick wall.
I'm desperate. The only thing visible in either Explore or Finder are the photos. As soon as I can figure out where these .m4a files are hidden so I can copy them to my laptop I am deleting that app, but right now I'm at my wit's end.
Does anyone know how to see media files created in an app?  Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

  • Using BATCH-EXPORT on subclips vs MM to create independent media files

I've been capturing full HDV tapes with the DV Start/Stop Detection turned on and everything has worked just fine - until now. I'm now encountering a problem w FCP "Searching for Media" on roughly 25% of my clips DURING capture, and in the process, losing about 5 seconds at the start of the clip. I've been having lots of problems w my G5 over the last couple months and it's been acting quite slow and I imagine this is related to that.
So... after a full 2 days trying to get Media Manager to create independent media files from my subclips (after capturing a twenty minute chunk whole, then breaking it down), following the FCP manual volume II pg 42 to a tee... I concur w many others on this site that Media Manager *****! No matter what I did, it would not produce new files out of my subclips and instead kept giving me the same error: "Reconnect Media Failed. The clip such-and-such was unable to be reconnected to the trimmed file due to a mismatch of the media present in the file... yada yada." Yes, I shortened the end of the first subclip by a couple frames, and I also had another subclip to delete, and I tried going straight from the bin, then from the timeline, then after making all clips independent in the timeline... nothing!
    Then I discovered BATCH EXPORT.
Using it, I exported my HDV subclips using Quicktime Movie, Self-Contained, HDV 30, audio and video. It processed 20 minutes of subclips in just a few minutes so I'm fairly confident that no real 'processing' occurred.
Can someone verify for me though that this is a safe procedure and that I am not re-processing HDV files with more HDV nonsense? Before continuing, I would just like to know for sure that Batch Export produces exactly the same result with subclips then if I were to simply capture one clip at a time.
    Thanks a bunch,
    Chris

I can confirm that it does not merge audio tracks. Track 1 and 2 remain the same. In fact everything appears as it would if I were to capture direct, I just want someone who knows better to validate this!
Also, has anyone else experienced the slowdown during log & capture that I described, with the intermittent message "searching for media"?

  • Media Files in Premiere Pro CS5.5

I have several large 60GB media video files I will be importing into the project section of Premiere Pro CS5.5   These files are stored on an external hard drive (will be using FW800) where I plan on working with these files from the external HD.   The question I have is, once I import them into the project section of Premiere Pro CS5.5 and start editing with various pieces of video from the project files, will the original media files residing on the external HD be changed or edited in anyway or will they remain the same?   It is my understanding that these files will remain unchanged and that CS5.5 will just use the data from the original files and then once the PP Project is exported, the data will just be copied from the original media and the original media files remain unchanged?  I would appreciate it if someone could confirm this to be ture.   Thank you!

When working from external HDD's, here's a tip: make sure to set the drive letter for that external (on a PC) HDD in the computer's OS, so that it will ALWAYS be the same, everytime that it is plugged in, or turned on, regardless of the order.
The links to those media files are absoute Paths, so if anything in the Path changes, the links will be broken.
    Good luck,

  • Screen flicker on opening media files

I have the following problem... Whenever I click or open a media file (mpg or avi) the screen flickers momentarily. It is most noticeable on white backgrounds like Explorer windows. Also, when I delete a media file the screen goes completely blank for a second and then comes back. It then makes the "new hardware detected" sound.  I've tried almost every possible driver, reinstalled everything, I've upgraded my power supply, disabled overclocking, you name it. I should mention that if I turn DirectX acceleration off in the Troubleshooting Tab, the problem disappears, but that's not really a solution. I suspect that nVidia have put so much crap in their drivers these days (honestly, how many people use "rotation") that they've lost their way. If anybody can help, it would be much appreciated.
    System specs:
MSI GeForceFX 5900XT-VTD overclocked to 500/750MHz (very stable)

After uploading many media files on your Blackberry, sometimes you need to do a reset. That is done be removing the battery while the blackberry is up, wait a bit, then plug it back. Your Blackberry will start up (can take up to a few minutes), then see if your files are better.

  • Using Media Manager to Cut up Long Media Files

After reading the chapters in the manually quite thouroughly, I still can't make Media Manager to do what I want it to. I need several long media files broken into smaller files, for use in soundtrack pro.
I captured 17 Tapes worth of footage from start to stop, and then logged them and turned individual shots and taks into subclips. After importing each subclip into SoundTack Pro, I realized that it will import the entire original media, and not just the sub clip, thus I decided that I needed to break up all my actual media files, into smaller files. (If there's a way around this, seeing as how working in SoundTrack with an individual Takes audio is my goal, I'd love to hear about it)
So, I tried to use media manager. I set it up with "use existing" media selected, "Delete unsed media from selected clips" selected, "base media files on" set to clip names, and did NOT select duplicate selected clips and place into a new project. I did NOT use handles.
After it was done processing, it did not break the files into individual takes (the way the subclips were made) like I wanted it to. It did break the files down smaller, but it includes multiple takes and multiple shots in each file.
Can someone please point me in the right direction as to what I need to do? Or, if someone can show me a work around for the using subclips in SoundTrack pro (I know this is not the SoundTrack pro Forum) then I would do fine using the clips how they are.
    Thanks for your time.

You really need to go to the Final Cut PRO forum.

  • Premiere Overwriting Media Files

Having a serious problem. Editing a sequence with video footage from a Canon 5D and 7D, and an audio track in WAV format from a Xoom recorder. Attempting to cut the audio to replace camera audio.
After working with the project for a couple of days, Premiere appears to have overwritten a number of the ORIGINAL audio files on the hard disk. The affected clips in the timeline appear with bold hashmarks through them (the track is not locked, it is only a random selection of clips in the timeline that are effected). When the sequence plays, there is no audio from these clips. They no longer display a waveform in the source monitor.
Further, the link to the orginal media is no longer present (the opotion to "reveal in finder" or "reveal in Bridge" in the project panel is greyed-out.
When I search in the media file folders on the har disk, I find that the original files have been changed at the time the clips became inaccesible. When I attempt to play them in Quicktime or Quickview them, they open showing no contents (0.00 start time and 0.00 duration), though the files still display a file size (i.e. 7mb).
We have replicated this problem storing our project (and its corresponding media folders) both on a shared raid drive on a workstation and on a striped raid drive on a shared server directory.
    Hardware/software info as follows:
Editing performed on an iMac i7 2.93 ghz, 8 GB ram, ATI Radeon HD 5750/1GB, Premiere Pro CS 5.03
Files located on a Mac Pro Server 3.2 ghz Quadcore, 8 GB ram running OS X Server 10.6.7 with a 2 TB Raid 1 (2 x 1 TB Drives Striped).
Previously the files were on a Mac Pro Workstation, OS X 10.6.7 with a shared 4 TB Raid 1 (2 x 2 TB Drives Striped)
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Premiere may be non-destructive, but I have had it break files before, in a manner similar to what you're describing. In my experience, this has been tied to the "Write XMP ID to Files on Import" option in Edit > Preferences > Media.
With that option enabled, Premiere will write some metadata into an imported file which it then uses to keep track of the file as it travels through the Adobe applications. I've had a few instances--both with specific file formats (SWF is an example) and with random individual files--where that process effectively broke files both in Premiere and on the desktop. I've actually rescued a few files by opening them up in a text editor, deleting the metadata (it's visible as XML), and resaving the file--it imports and plays properly, then. Of course, if you don't disable the "Write XMP ID" option, it happens all over again.
Not saying this is specifically what is happening here, but here's a test if you're feeling enterprising:
Find a file (WAV, for example) that hasn't been imported into Premiere yet. Make a copy of it with Explorer.
Import one of the copies into Premiere, making sure the "Write XMP ID" option is checked before you do so.
Grab and install WinMerge, which is a great little program for comparing two files. It will have an option to add an Explorer context menu item to "Compare" files--this makes it easy to do just that.
Using WinMerge, compare the imported and the not-yet-imported WAVs; near the top of the file that was imported, you should see a few lines of XML data, while the file that wasn't imported won't have this. WinMerge keeps the scrolling synced so you can easily see differences between the two files. The rest of the file will be all binary mish-mash, but you should be able to see where the metadata is inserted--make a note of that.
With Premiere close, find one of your "damaged" WAVs (make a copy of it, just to be safe), and open it up in a text editor; I'm partial to Notepad++. Pretty quickly, you'll be able to see the injected XML metadata. Simply select it and delete, making sure to delete only the parts that weren't in the non-imported file above. It should be pretty clear where that is, but just in case, that's why we made a duplicate first.
Once you delete the metadata, simply save the file, and try playing it back in whatever player didn't work correctly before. If it works (here's hoping!), give it a shot in Premiere. If it works there, I'd suggest fixing all your broken WAVs, and then opening them in an audio editor of one sort another and saving to new files (same format). This will basically just repackage the contents of the file in a new container that hopefully won't break again if you re-enable the "Write XMP ID" option (which is a good idea).
If that doesn't work... well... we'll cross that bridge later

  • Whenever I try to transfer media files to either another pc on my network, or an external hard drive, the content starts to transfer but eventually loses internet conectivity? PC has no issue transferring files.

Whenever I try to transfer media files from my mc to either another PC on my network or to a network attached storage device, the transfer will start but eventually my internet connection will fail. The NAS is the "WD my book live". I have had no issues with my pc in downloading and uploading from the NAS. The mac can download from the NAS but, as already stated, will not upload. File sharing is turned on for all devices. Today I tried to transfer files directly from mac to PC and the same issue happened, which tells me it is an issue with the mac. I have seen this question around but have not seen any responses. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Format the extra HDD to EXFAT as previously indicated.  There are two ways that can use to transferr the data.
    1.  Connect both drives to the PC and the copy the files to the newly formatted (EXFAT) drive from the HDD with the data .  Then connect the EXFAT drive to the MBP and transfer the data to same.
    2.  Connect both drives to the MBP and open DISK UTILITY>RESTORE.  Drag the drive with the data on it to the 'Source' field.  Drag the EXFAT drive to the 'Destination' field.  Click on the 'Restore' butt is on.  After the transfer has been completed, close DISK UTILITY and place the data on the MBP where you want it.
    Ciao.
